After she went upstairs she went into her bedroom and laid down on the bed, hoping for some sleep. When she closed her eyes she saw herself standing in the middle of the road looking at nothing in particular. She heard footsteps behind her and turned around, seeing a man approaching her. He was tall and handsome, he wore a suit and tie and looked like he was in the business. His black hair was neatly combed and his pale skin glowed under the bright streetlights. Suddenly the sound of cars interrupted the silence and her heart started beating faster. She started hearing the footsteps and people screaming but her vision became blurry. Before she passed out she saw the man standing over her, smiling down at her. As she woke up she realized that the nightmare was only a bad dream. She breathed deeply to try and calm herself down and her hands reached down to rub her belly. The baby kicked, making her smile and fall back on the bed. Her hand traveled towards her bump but stopped when s
"Hello?" Jake's voice was filled with confusion."Hey Jake," she said happily, not realizing that she was slightly out of breath."Hi," he greeted back and she could tell that he was trying to sound enthusiastic and not annoyed, "What's going on?""Nothing, I was just wondering if you read the email your mom sent me?" she explained."Yeah, I did and it said that everything is set and ready.""That's great! I'm so happy that you'l be coming to our wedding!" she replied and she heard him chuckle lightly on the other line."You don't say. I'd be honored to be a part of such a beautiful occasion like yours, my dear bride.""Oh please, there's no need to flatter me.""Well maybe a little."They stayed silent for a while until Jake started talking again."So when are you expecting me?""In a couple of weeks.""Ah, ok, so you're gonna need help with the planning right? I mean you've got everything done except for all the details. You've gotta have the catering done by tomorrow afternoon.""Y
They were quiet for a bit, just enjoying each other's company. She closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep in his warm embrace. The next morning she woke up feeling better. She took her vitamins and then showered quickly. Once she was dry and clothed she walked into the kitchen where her mother was sitting at the table reading something on her phone."Good Morning Mom," she said as she poured herself a cup of coffee and sat down across from her mother."Morning baby girl." Claire's mother gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before turning her attention back to whatever she was reading."Did you get any more sleep?" she wondered aloud."Yes mom, I did," Claire replied, "but the headache is still there. I guess it'll pass eventually.""Alright, that's good."Claire took a sip of her coffee and decided to distract herself from her head pains by cleaning a pile of dishes. After finishing her chore she cleaned the counters and tables in the kitchen and washed the dishes. She the
"So," Jake began, taking a sip of his wine, "how have you been these last few days?""Good, really good," she told him, smiling broadly. "Mom finally bought me some new clothes. I love them! She even bought me a pair of earrings.""That's nice," he smiled, "are you ready for prom yet?""Yes, it's this Saturday. You guys coming?" she asked, changing the subject slightly."Yeah, we'll be there. Are you gonna ask anyone?" he asked."Actually, I haven't quite made up my mind yet," she admitted."Who hasn't?""Well, Jake, my boyfriend has been asking me all sorts of things lately, like when he should take me to the dance, and whether or not I want to go with him," she explained, blushing lightly."Who? Who wants to take you to the dance? I haven't heard of anyone asking you out," Jake exclaimed, obviously surprised."Oh, um..." she stammered and averted her gaze, "it's kind of embarrassing.""Who? Tell me," he demanded, leaning forward excitedly."Um...I'll tell you when I figure it out my
"What's wrong, Jake?" she asked gently."Hmm? What?" he replied distractedly."You were staring at me during lunch today. Is everything okay?""Yeah, it's nothing," he reassured her, smiling at her.Claire frowned. Something was definitely up but she decided not to push him anymore, especially because of her current mood. She knew that he wasn't one for confrontation and it would be best to wait until tomorrow. So she decided to enjoy her dinner instead.Later that evening the couple sat on the couch, watching TV. Claire had fallen asleep a while ago. Jake gently lifted her into his arms and carried her to her bed. Once he had tucked her in, he lay down next to her. Just as he was about to close his eyes, he remembered something he had to check on. So he grabbed a notebook from under the pillow next to him and started to write."My wife is sleeping beside me. I have no idea how she fell asleep while sitting upright, but it must be one hell of an experience. She seems to be resting ver
They stayed silent for a moment, enjoying the closeness between them, before Claire spoke again, "Do you wanna talk about it?""Not particularly," he answered. She nodded in understanding and moved to stand up, "OK. Let me know if you change your mind though.""Will do," he replied."Bye, then," she smiled. She leaned forward and gave him a quick peck on his lips."Bye," he repeated. With that, she left him alone with his thoughts. An hour later, Jake was still sitting on the couch, lost in thought. He sighed heavily, trying to clear his thoughts. But no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get rid of that nagging feeling that there was something that he needed to deal with. He closed his eyes briefly, trying to force the thought out of his head. After a few seconds, however, it wouldn't leave. It wouldn't leave until he confronted Claire about it. However, he was afraid to ask her about it. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. He didn't want her to stop being with h
"Something's obviously troubling him," Claire whispered to herself. She watched Jake for a while longer before deciding to follow him. She quietly tip toed down the stairs and walked into the living room, only to find that he had taken off his shoes and jacket. She cautiously walked towards him as he remained seated on the floor, staring at nothing in particular."Jake?" she tentatively called out.His head shot up in surprise and he stared at her, "Oh Claire, hey. Sorry. Didn't notice you were there. How are you feeling?"She walked towards him, stopping in front of him, "Better now. Why are you still sitting on the floor?""I just... I dunno. I can't seem to shake this annoying feeling off my chest. It keeps getting worse every time I try," he sighed and ran his fingers through his hair."Maybe you should go see Dr. Andrews again and talk to her about it," she suggested."Maybe you're right. Thanks, babe," he grinned at her gratefully. He then leaned forwards, placing a gentle kiss
"I'll go and order it."She nodded eagerly and hugged his neck tighter, watching as he slipped out of bed and left the room. She laid there for a moment after he had gone and closed her eyes once more. A few minutes later, her phone rang and she reached across the bed blindly until her hand found it, clutching onto it tightly as she waited impatiently for Jake to return. After a minute or two, she heard him talking and a smile appeared on her face when she heard him mention pizza. She then waited for him to come back, listening intently to the conversation. Her smile only grew bigger when she heard him saying that their dinner was going to be here any minute. She sat up straight and jumped out of the bed excitedly, rushing out of the bedroom to meet him downstairs. When she finally made it downstairs, she saw Jake standing next to their dining table eating a slice of pizza. She hurried over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek."Hey beau
