“Amara, why don’t you sit close to your— sit close to the Alpha, you’ve missed him, haven’t you?” Leila says to Amara with a smile, holding back the seat beside her where Amara was going to sit as she glances at Tatum who is sitting opposite her. Amara looks at her mother with a shy smile. “Okay, Mama.” Amanda and Liana share a look, a rather nosy one, trying to hold back the smile on their lips and Leila sees it and makes a face at them and Amanda in particular flicks her brows at Leila. Tatum smiles, stands up and pulls the seat beside him backwards, “there, you go little princess.” “Thank you my good sir,” Amara curtsies, before taking the seat, making everyone at the table laugh. A few minutes into the meal, Tatum grabs the bowl of beef stew and scoops some more into his plate after originally taking quite some the first time. “You seem to be enjoying the meal, Alpha,” Celina says, not raising her head from her own meal. “Oh, it’s splendid. I honestly cannot remember the las
Again? What does Amara mean by she is sad again? Is she often sad? Is it because of him? Is she finding it hard to let go? Tatum looks at Leila who seems to be fully focused on the show on the television but now that he is looking at her well, he sees that she is just looking blankly at it. Her mind is clearly not in the room. “You alright?” He asks, but she doesn’t reply, rather, she sighs sadly, completely oblivious of his presence or question, lost in her own world. What could be wrong with her? She didn’t show any of these signs while they were dining. A sense of worry slowly grows inside of Tatum. He doesn’t want anything to stress this woman. She should be happy at all times, she deserves it. “Mama, why are you sad?” Amara asks, placing her little hands on Leila’s thighs and shaking her. “What?!” Leila asks, jolted back into the reality surrounding her. “What’s going on? Amara’s worried you’re sad and you didn’t even hear me call you, are you okay?” Tatum asks, his heart
Getting into his office the following morning, Tatum begins to go through a couple of business proposals from investors and other Alphas looking to collaborate with the blood oak pack. After a while, he reaches for his cup of coffee and he immediately gets an idea. He takes the cup of coffee and places it in the trash bin carefully. He knows the office staff will always have his coffee ready before he gets to the office but it is a perfect excuse for him to see his sweet pea this morning. ‘Bring a cup of coffee to my office please,’ he mindlinks her, using a straight business tone. ‘Alright,’ Leila replies in the same way. A few minutes later, Leila steps into his office with a try and mug on it but it’s the knee length leather skirt that she’s wearing which hugs her curves deliciously that first steal Tatum’s attention, making his heart thud. She knows how much he loves her in a leather skirt, did she wear this to the office on purpose? His eyes slowly rake over her as she walk
“Are you sure you want to come along? Tatiana and I can handle this, we’ll be more discreet that way,” Tatum says to Leila on the day they are to leave for the mission to find Kelvin. They are standing outside Tatum’s house, waiting for Tatiana to arrive so they can leave. Officially, the Alpha is going on a short vacation with his girlfriend, Tatiana, the king’s sister and Leila, his personal assistant, is accompanying them on the trip. Leila frowns, “we’ve talked about this before, I’m coming along and besides, you don’t know what we might face there and since we’re not taking any warriors, we need all the help we can get in case things go south.” Tatum chuckles, lightly grabbing her by her triceps, “and what can you do if things go south,” he asks in a sarcastic manner, “it’s not like you’re the best fighter around.” Leila sneers at him, pulls her hand away and punches his side. “Underestimate me at your own peril, you forget I am the real phoenix Luna.” “I never took you fo
Tatum pulls the car to a halt at the foot of a mountain and on the other side is the Augustine river, the location where Leila had asked them to check. “We’ll have to continue by foot from here ladies,” he says, glancing at Leila in the front seat beside him, temporarily stunned with the way the sun rays coming in from the car window enhances the beauty of her face. Everything about this woman is just perfect. From her ocean blue eyes, her resting smiling face, her small pout lips and even her slightly big nose, she is a compendium of everything beautiful and it gladdens his heart that he may yet have one more chance to worship this beauty and he’ll do it right and religiously this time. “Are you going to keep staring at her or are we actually going to get down from the car? I too have a sweetheart I’m dying to see,” Tatiana says, making a face at Tatum. Tatum parts his lips but doesn’t find a reply for Tatiana and Leila chuckles, opening the door and she steps out. “We have to hi
Tatum squints at her as she looks away, realising the growl had come from Leila when he suggested to carry Tatiana. There’s no way Leila is jealous, perhaps it is her wolf but he’ll take whichever. He smiles at the thought, looking away from her so she’s not embarrassed even more, wishing he didn’t have to actually carry Tatiana. “I don’t mind getting there late, as long as I get there in one piece,” Tatiana says in a coy voice to Tatum but she is looking at Leila with a sarcastic look in her eyes, teasing Leila. “Just give me your backpack,” Leila stretches her hand forward, careful to avoid Tatum’s gaze. “No,” Tatum picks up Leila’s own backpack and gives it to Tatiana. “She’ll carry both bags and I’ll carry her.” “I’m pretty sure I can manage,” Leila says, reaching for the backpack but Tatum grabs her hand and holds her close to him. “Listen, it’s going to be pretty uncomfortable and it’s a long climb, plus when you shift back, you’ll feel pain from the bag hitting against y
Leila quickly gets in her clothes and they both run after Tatiana. Tatiana weaves through the thicket of bushes, her heart pounding harder with every step, undeterred by the branches cutting her skin and the leaves whipping against her. The only thing she can think about is seeing Kelvin again, her anxiety mixed with the fear of what could happen when they do find and rescue him. Tatum overtakes Tatiana with Leila behind them so he can clear the path through the forest and makes it easier for them. “When you said you could sense him, I thought he’d be close by,” Tatum said, looking up to the sky, seeing the sun already being replaced by the crescent moon. Tatiana halts, catching her breath as she speaks, the sadness in her eyes mirroring the one in her voice. “I can sense him, even now, I can and it’s strong, he’s close, we should just keep going.” Leila sighs and crouches, the white clouds that once displayed through the space between the trees have now gone dark. She doesn’
Tatum mutters the words of the riddle to himself, Leila gazes around the forest as if the answer would be written on one of the trees. Tatiana bites down on her finger as the three rack their brains to try and come up with an answer to the riddle. “We each get one try, so three tries to try and get us out of here,” Tatum says as a reminder. “Any ideas?” he glances at Leila and then at Tatiana. “No, I don’t know, the answer could be anything,” Tatiana replies and Leila shakes her head. “It’s definitely something abstract if it can cross time and space but then it can take many forms which can also contradict that theory,” Tatum mutters, scratching his head. “Exists between silence and words, between a glance and a touch, is the answer a thought?” Tatiana speaks. The forest rumbles, “No, daughter of Hecate.” Leila heaves a deep sigh, worthy beginning to fill her and cloud her sense of reasoning, she looks at Tatum who has his head down thinking and then at Tatiana who already looks
Leila looks at Amara who is fast asleep beside her in the middle of the night unable to sleep herself. Aside from the fact that she naturally finds it hard to sleep in a new environment for a few days, her heart is heavy.Tatum didn’t argue with her concerning returning to the pack in a few days but her daughter and her have never been separated for more than a day and she will have to leave her, perhaps for weeks or even months, depending on how long it takes for them to get Tatum back his position of Alpha. She runs her hand slowly through Amara’s hair, her eyes welling in tears as she kisses her daughter’s hair, taking a good whiff, a strong sense of anguish filling her for the decision she has to make, even though deep down in her heart she doesn’t want to leave Amara but it’s the only way to keep her safe.Aside from the anonymous letter that they got asking them to protect Amara, she also cannot shake a feeling deep in her heart that Antonio is doing all of this because he wants
“Welcome to the North Star Pack Leila, I am Alpha Caden,” Alpha Caden says to Leila before opening his arms and squeezing her in a hug. “And you must be Amara,” he smiles, breaking the hug and bends to pick Amara up in his arms, tugging her chin as he chuckles.“Thank you for having us,” Leila replies to Caden, hiding her surprise in her tone.Caden is not like anything she imagined or like most Alphas she knew who were either lean with muscle or bulky with the same. He looked very different, tall and robust with a stomach that could pass for a pregnant woman’s bulge but he has a warm aura to him and his sandy blonde hair has been twisted into short locks.“Thank you?” Caden suddenly frowns at Leila, making her wonder if she said something wrong. “Family does not thank one another. I find that offensive, Leila, you must apologize,” his tone softens and his frown morphs into a smirk.Leila smiles back to him, amused by his character. “I’m sorry Alpha Caden.”“Apology not accepted becau
“I, Alpha Tatum Cromwell, under the all seeing eye of Selene, witnessed by the elders of the Council, renounce my position as the Alpha of the Blood Oak Pack.”He feels the rage of his wolf blending with his as he locks eyes with Trent who has a smug look on his face. Trent steps forward, joining Tatum in the middle of the circle. “Representing the elders, we witness your renouncement. Who do you name as your successor,” Trent’s face is flushed with a look of mockery that makes Zane boil even further. He should have had Trent sentenced to death instead but then he thought it would be quick mercy, he wanted him to suffer imprisonment for the rest of his life as a lesson for all his evil deeds but it seems that decision has come back to bite him in the ass.Zane frowns. “Not as my successor but as an interim ruler, I name—” he extends the claws of his left hand and slashes the wrist of his right hand. He looks slowly from the thick red liquid dripping from his wrist, making patters on
“Alpha Tatum,” a tall bulky man dressed in a grey suit bows slightly to Tatum with two much smaller men dressed in similar styled suits walking behind him. They are at the annual werewolf trade fair. An event organized amongst allied packs to foster unity and commerce. Attending the event is the perfect cover for Leila to get away with Amara just in case Antonio still has any men watching them. Tatum gives his hand a firm handshake. “It’s been ages, Curtis. The years have been kind to you.” “As they have been with you. Our Alpha sends his greetings. The North Star pack will forever be grateful to you for saving our Alpha’s life.” “He would have done the same for me,” Tatum pats the side of Curtis’ arm with a small grin that barely lasts a second before he pulls the big man to the side. Curtis is the Beta of Alpha Caden Miles, the Alpha of the North Star pack. Many years ago, during his Alpha training, that was when he met Caden and saved him from being lynched by a pack of rogues
“That bastard!” Tatum yells, punching a hole through the wall of his office, his heart beating fast, his entire aura swirling in visible rage. “Calm down,” Leila says, not feeling any sort of calmness herself and Tatum can sense it, which only pisses him off more. It’s like they can’t get a fucking break, things just keep going from one crisis to the next and it’s all because of one man who wields too much power, it’s beginning to get to his head. It is completely unheard of for an Alpha to name another person as an acting Alpha when he is still alive and more so, even if that was to happen, Theo, his beta would have been in a better position to receive that honor, not fucking Trent. He hisses, tapping frantically on his table, staring at the warning message they had received concerning Amara. This whole thing has Carmela written all over it and Antonio in his vileness would be more than willing to oblige her. Whoever sent them this warning must have found out something. He nee
“Leila! I can’t find the vegetables, are you sure we got everything down from the car?” Liana says from inside the pantry as she puts stuff they bought from the market away. “I’ll check,” Leila replies, ruffling Amara’s hair. “Nice Drawing baby,” she smiles at the drawing of a face that is half completed which makes it hard for her to know exactly who the child is drawing. With Antonio no longer in the pack, Selina has returned back to her coven with the promise to come back periodically for Amara’s training and with the uncertainty of unforeseen events, they also decided it was best to suspend the active training for now. It’s almost been a full month since Tatiana went missing and no one has heard a word from her. Tatum even risked a bold step, sending word to Antonio of her disappearance before he found out and has an excuse to do something sinister but he never got any response, as if Antonio is completely done with them and the pack for good. Sometimes it feels like a relief t
“Brother please,” Tatiana pleads with Antonio after the party as he heads to his car with Carmela beside him. They are getting ready to leave. Antonio looks at his sister, tears streaming down her eyes, he can see how broken and torn she is but all he does is give her his signature wicked smirk before he opens the car door and then he pauses. “This is for your own good, Tatiana, you need a capable man beside you,” Antonio replies in a calm and patronizing tone. “But he’s not even a warrior, why do you even need a personal bodyguard, you’re untouchable, you’re the freaking Lycan king,” Tatiana replies in despair, sobbing hard. Antonio doesn’t reply, he holds the door wide open for Carmela to enter the car but she stands in front of the door, looking at Tatiana with a sort of disdain in her eyes. “You should have chosen your brother’s side, he is your only family but you chose others over him.” “Shut up you bitch,” Tatiana snaps at her, “what do you know about family? Your father
“Good morning my angel,” Kelvin plants a kiss on Tatiana’s cheek and he drops a tray of breakfast beside her on the bed. Tatiana makes a face, giving him puppy eyes before staring at the plate, her heart thudding slowly with joy and she wraps her hand around Kelvin’s neck, stealing his lips in a deep sensual kiss. “I’ve missed this,” Tatiana says, breaking the kiss and glancing at the plate of eggs, sausages, peas, bread, a glass of orange juice and milk. “And I’ve missed cooking for you,” Kelvin replies with a smile, planting a kiss on her forehead. “Don’t worry hubby, I’ve been learning how to cook, so I’ll be cooking for you too,” Tatiana says in a shy manner, setting the tray in front of her. “Hubby?” Kelvin says, the words rolling off his tongue with a huge smile on his face, his heart beating with excitement. “You’re going to marry me, aren’t you?” “Of course my angel,” Kelvin replies but then the smile on his face falters, his tone dropping lower, “I fear your brother w
Antonio’s eyes bulge in shock as Leila utters the words of rejection. “I, Leila Rogers, under the all seeing eye of Selene, reject you, Lycan king Antonio Darkside as my second chance mate.” ‘How?’ He ponders in his head, blinking to remove the shock from his eyes before anyone notices and he keeps a cheerful smile on his face like a parent proud of their child for making the right decision. When Leila utters the last word, she gasps and her knees buckle making her stagger backwards but Tatum’s hands are safely behind her to stop her from falling. She shrugs Tatum’s hands off her roughly, glaring at him and at the same time mindlinking him. ‘Thank you my knight in shining armor.’ Tatum also steps back, keeping a cold face as he replies. ‘You did it.’ Antonio’s rage continues to fester inside him, making him restless as he stares at Leila regaining her composure. She should not have been able to do that. Not even Alpha’s can break free from his Alpha command with their own wil
