CHAPTER 75

ROBERT’S POV

~ “This woman here is not Lily,” I cut her off. ~

“Excuse me?...” My mum leaned forward, her features wrinkling like I had said something abominable. “What did you just say?”

“She’s not Lily,” I repeated, making it clearer this time so they could hear me better. “She’s just some random lookalike that was hired to kill Grandpa.”

The level of shock that flew through their faces was unlike any I had ever seen before. Mum and Ginny stared at me like I was crazy, as though I had lost it entirely. Martin gazed at me with an amusingly shocking expression while Dad scoffed in disbelief.

Mum approached me almost reflexively, her expression suddenly sympathetic as she held my cheeks as if to assess my features and check if I was alright. “Is everything okay? What’s wrong my son? Have you been drinking or something?”

“No…” I grimaced.

“Then why are you saying something like that? Everyone here knows too well she is the same Lily from nine years ago.

With her heavily tear-streaked voice, she muttered, “My name is Carina Kay and I was hired by Scarlett Milson to kill Mr. Ronald Wilson on the 28th Of May, 2015.” ~ Gasps rippled like shockwaves in the room, the tension and suspense rising to the peak. “You…you mean Scarlett sent you to kill Grandpa?” Ginny asked with wide eyes, disoriented from shock. Carina nodded without making eye contact. More tears streamed down her cheeks and converged on her chin, dripping down to the floor. “Robert!” My dad called out sharply, his voice and facial expression hardening ruthlessly as he seemed provoked. “I don’t know what it is you have going on with these women. But whatever it is, you’d better explain it to me right now before I lose my temper.” My father wasn’t one to be trifled with. He had a vicious temper and could do unimaginable things when provoked. We’ll return the favour and kill this bitch’s family so she too can feel the pain we’ve been enduring all these years.” ~My father gave a firm nod, like a soldier dutifully following his commander’s orders. Without hesitation, he called for one of the servants to bring him his phone.“No…” Carina yelped out in shock and panic, squirming against her restraints. “You can’t do that! I’ll take full responsibility for my actions and accept whatever punishment you have for me, but please don’t involve my family in this. Please… y-you can’t do this. You can kill any of my family members…”“Too late, dear. We’re already doing it,” my mum replied with a chillingly sadistic glare, her tone nonchalant.Carina looked at me with eyes that were large and liquid as if pleading for my intervention. Given the severity of her crime, she could be facing a possible life imprisonment – a fate she has accepted without resistance.Jake arrived a few days back and has been staying with us. I made sure to urge everyone especially my mum to make him feel at home and act like nothing ever happened. During the trip to pick him up, I took the opportunity to see Scarlett’s body, confirming her death and putting everyone’s minds at ease. Raphael was still finalizing the arrangements for her funeral, scheduled to take place in a few days.Meanwhile, all hands were on deck to find Lily and bring her back. My father has reached out to his contacts from across the country for assistance and mum has been backing him up. I know it won’t take long for them to find her. It broug

CHAPTER 79LILY’S POVThe amusement park was filled with happy sounds from children laughing, parents chatting, and birds singing. It’s been a week since the two incidents that nearly took my life. The kids were on summer break, and Jane came to visit after such a long time of not being able to see us. But she came alone, leaving Christabel behind because she was taking piano lessons. As a way to unwind and let the kids have some fun after a demanding academic session, we decided to spend the afternoon at an amusement park.Liam and Lila were playing on the swings, giggling and kicking their feet in the air as they did. I smiled seeing how happy they were before getting up and walking to a nearby ice cream cart to get some ice creams for everyone. Jane followed me and we chatted along the way. Having been apart for quite a long time, we had a lot to catch up on.She looked chic and casual in her white summer dress and sandals, and as always, radiated a warm, graceful charm that turne

However, they stated they wouldn’t take action immediately to find my kids till after forty-eight hours which drove me on the brink of madness.“You can’t be doing this,” I said desperately, chasing after the policeman who had just questioned me and said that. He was walking back to his patrol car, ready to leave already. “You and your colleagues have to act now and find my kids. I need to be with them. The more time we waste, the more danger they could be in.”“Ma’am, I understand you’re worried, but our policy requires waiting 48 hours before classifying someone as missing. Most cases like this resolve themselves quickly before we could even intervene.” He said in a detached tone, taking the matter unseriously as he opened his car door, about to enter. But I stopped him. CHAPTER 81LILY’S POVThe tyres of the SUV screeched noisily as I hurriedly found a parking spot at the hospital. I had never driven so recklessly in my life. I sped like I was being chased and nearly ran into three trucks. Thank goodness there was no police checkpoint on the road and we weren’t stopped or followed by them.“What the hell, Lily?!” Noah screamed at me madly, his eyes wide and bulgy with shock. “That is no way for a lady to drive. You could have gotten us killed…”“But I didn’t,” I said as I turned off the ignition, took out the keys and got out of the car. I stared at the building in front of me. It was a federal hospital with the name displayed in bold letters above the entrance. It stood tall with so many floors it was nearly impossible to count them all, with the walls painted in a clean, pale white.Noah said the taxi driver had to be brought here because the smack he gave him on the back of the head with a log that day he tried to shoot me turned out to be more

I’ll stay out here and keep watch in case security or the officer from the station guarding his room shows up. I wonder where he disappeared off to. But if I sense anything going wrong, I’m coming in. No arguments.” I nodded and he let me go. Clutching the Taser and small hammer tightly in my hands, I quietly made my way into the room. Upon entering, I saw a nurse injecting a syringe of medication into the IV line of the taxi driver, who lay motionless on the bed with an oxygen mask covering his pale face and other wires from his body hooked to different medical machines. In his current state, he looked like

CHAPTER 83LILY’S POVI woke up feeling all groggy like I was hit by a high-speed train. Every part of my body ached and cramped, and my head hurt really bad as I cradled it, a breathy wince escaping my lips. The flimsy hospital gown I was putting on, the steady beeping of the heart monitor and various medical monitors that displayed vital signs nearby and the sterile smell of antiseptic and drugs made it known to me I was in a hospital. But I couldn’t remember how I got here or why my head was hurting so badly. Every memory I had of yesterday was vague. Was I involved in some kind of accident? But I couldn’t see any injuries on my body or feel any broken bones.I managed to push through the pain and propped myself up from the bed, carefully removing the wires attached to my body. I got out of the bed. My steps were unsteady but I was determined as I walked toward the door, glancing around the room with hopes of seeing Noah. But he was nowhere in sight. Turning the door, he grabbed the handle and jerked it open only to nearly collide with the company security guard who was standing by the doorway. I didn’t get what he was doing standing there. Was he eavesdropping on our conversation? ~For a split second, I thought he was but he wasn’t. In his hands was an extravagant bouquet of deep red roses, along with a sleek, elegant envelope. The sight of it made the air between us three tense and awkward.“Miss Jones, this just came in for you,” The security guard said, bringing it forward to hand it over to me.“Thank you…” My brows furrowed as I hesitantly accepted it. He bowed slightly before leaving. I closed my door and walked to my table, keeping the bouquet on it. Noah didn’t leave my office again like he wanted to. Instead, he followed closely behi

I spent the entire night restlessly rolling around on the bed and going to the kids’ room to check up on them. Was I feeling this miserable and angry because I was still in love with Robert? He was my high school crush, the only man I had truly opened my heart to, the man who took my virginity, the father of my children. Were all that truly the reasons I was finding it hard to forget him? Because of this unbreakable connection we share. No…no…no… I was restless as I pushed my chair back away from my table where I was working on my laptop. I couldn’t focus on work. Since yesterday, I couldn’t bring myself to focus on anything. I can’t stop thinking of Robert and that stupid look on his face. He said he wanted to tell me something but I didn’t give him the chance. What did he want to t

CHAPTER 103LILY’S POV~ I lifted my head and looked at her. “What about Liam?”“He’s playing a video game in his room.”I smiled, glad he was doing well. But didn’t he hear the sound of the glasses shattering? It was loud enough and could even be heard from outside the house. Since Nana Mae was coming from upstairs on hearing it, that meant he too must have heard it. Why didn’t he come rushing downstairs? Was she sure he was really upstairs in his room or was there something she wasn’t telling me? ~“I know what you’re thinking,” Nana Mae said as if she could read my mind. “You don’t have to worry. He has earphones on. He didn’t hear anything. And I think he’ll probably take a nap when he’s done playing to rest his eyes.”I sighed in quiet relief on hearing that. The eye doctor had mentioned that the antibiotics she prescribed would make him feel drowsy and inactive for a while, so it was important to let him rest and take time off school as needed. I tried to hold back my outburst as Liam was probably upstairs in his room and I didn’t want him to hear me crying. But my sharp intake of breath was making it extremely difficult.Shaking my head in agony, I managed to get a grip and pushed myself up. I dragged myself to the refrigerator in the kitchen. He must have been slapped by his whore.” ~“Not only is his agency sinking lower than the gutter in the rankings, but he’s also stooped so low as to resort to screwing desperate whores and dragging them into professional meetings like this.”Their sniggering voices and prickly comments had me baring my teeth, hissing at them. And if you ever think of following me, I’ll call the police on you and make sure you taste what it feels to be locked behind bars.” Lily barked at me and slapped me. A powerful one at that. No one has slapped me this hard before. In all my time of knowing her, I have never seen her this angry. She was always calm and collected even in the worst of situations. But now, it was as if a wild beast of anger and hatred had been festering inside her all these years and saw this as the perfect opportunity to unleash its ferality. I held my cheek where she had slapped me. It was throbbing with pain yet I was oblivious of it. I just held it and continued staring at her, almost on the brink of tears as I

  • Pregnant For My Billionaire Crush   The Meeting

CHAPTER 99 LILY’S POV My heels went click clack as I raced into the building which was the venue for the meeting. I was almost breathless and flustered as I was running dangerously late. The meeting was scheduled to hold at 10:00 am but it was 10:30 already. In important meetings like this, every company representative needed to arrive early. I didn’t want anyone looking down on me as if I were unprofessional, and Noah wouldn’t be happy with me if I missed it. I woke up this morning only for Liam to come complaining to me he was feeling pain around his right eye. I checked it to see a boil growing inside, under the base of his eyelids. Because of that, he couldn’t go to school which resumed for a new session today. I had to take him to the eye doctor. That was what made me arrive late. However, upon entering the boardroom where the meeting was held, I was fortunate and relieved to see they were about to start. Everyone was taking their seats. I didn’t expect to see this man

So I ask, will you make the happiest man on earth by agreeing to marry me?” The question reverberated in my head over and over again. I felt like I was caught in a daze. CHAPTER 97 LILY’S POV Clad in a black evening gown with a thigh-high slit, I sat on my vanity, doing my makeup after fixing my hair. I was preparing to go on a date with Noah. He’d asked me out the day after our intense hot make-out in my office. I finally agreed to give it a shot because I know I have kept him waiting for too long. He’d been asking me out for over a year now and I keep making excuses on why I can’t accept. Accepting to go on this date with him will be like my own little way of thanking him for everything he has done for me and my kids. He’ll be taking me on a dinner date in one of those fancy restaurants in the city. Deep down, I kind of wished it was something simpler like a movie date or sightseeing just I don’t have to waste this much time dressing up like I was going to contest for a beauty pageant. After finishing my makeup, I used a setting spray to make sure it stayed in place. I cast one last glance at my reflection and I was satisfied with the res
