Anne simply kept quiet because she had no other choice other than trying to escape.

"Does Anthony hate us that much?" Sarah had lost her appetite and an idea came up as she looked at Anne. "Anne, the next time he lays his hands on you, ask for something. If you can't have him, you ought to at least get something back."
