It felt much better to know where Anthony was, just like how it was always better to know where the monster was when one was lost in a forest.

Anne did not know when he would appear or attack, so she needed time to prepare herself, instead of waiting passively for him to jump her, otherwise she would be dead before she knew it.

Even so, it was still extremely challenging for her to escape Luton.
