Lucas' statement drove Josie up the walls.

"Why are you so useless? Don't forget that you're the one who wanted a divorce back then! It's too late to regret it now!" she yelled.

"I haven't forgotten about it," Lucas replied bitterly.

That was the biggest regret in his life. He felt the urge to slap himself as he thought about it.

Lucas had hurt Chelsey profoundly. So, he felt that he could forgive her even though she cheated on him.

Josie could not find it in herself to scold Lucas any further.

She took a deep breath to calm herself before saying, "Don't stay here anymore. Come home with me now."

"Mom, you go on home. I'll return in a few days."

No matter what, Lucas would not leave until Timothy returned. He was obliged to protect Chelsey. It was something he owed her, after all.
