Hello guys,
I am blown away by the number of views, likes, shares, gems, and comments you have gifted me within the past week. For those of you leaving comments about grammar and sentence structure issues, I appreciate the time and effort it takes. Please know it is not in vain. I am taking notes and slowly editing through each chapter.
If you love Damon and Elle, I cannot wait to share the next book in the series . The outline is coming along nicely, and I plan to start writing chapters by the end of the week! (However, you will have to wait until Damon and Elle's story is concluded for them to be published).
To show my gratitude for all the kindness, I am sharing a flashback of Damon and Elle before he leaves for Alpha Training. Damon is sixteen, and Elle is fifteen-ish. (This chapter is completely free.)
Happy Holidays.
XOXO
Emma Taylor

ELLE POV
The longer I stare at the dress Olivia laid out for me to wear at the Thanksgiving dinner hosted tonight, the more uneasy I become. Normally, Thanksgiving is a low-key affair, with only the Alpha family and everyone else in the pack spending the day separately, leaving me free to dress within Damon's strict rules. Meaning fewer chances of him becoming a pissy, arrogant bastard.
Not this year, though. Unfortunately, the Alpha and Luna have to host a few neighboring Alphas and their sons, who are all male. Every. Single. One. So I will be forced into a room that's mostly unmated teenage alpha males. The only teenage girl to compete over, the fucking prize for them to compete over. The night will already be difficult enough, and Olivia wants me to wear this.
Is she fucking high? I wonder as I stare at the forest green dress I have found the courage to finally put on. I won't deny it; the dress is cute with its long sleeves and modest, yet low, neckline. The dress is designed to hug my waist, flaring over my hips and landing in the middle of my thighs, revealing my long legs. Damon will lose his absolute shit seeing me in this, especially if I am around other males with no females to distract them.
Only on the rarest occasions do I join the Ledgers in their Alpha negotiations, and only when it cannot be avoided. Today is one of those days because of the holiday. I continue staring at myself, amazed at how my body has changed since moving here. I am older, filling out slowly, turning into a woman, and always wearing baggy clothes. I tend to forget what my shape looks like underneath.
A slight knock startles me as the Luna pokes her head around the door, a victorious smile on her lips as she takes in my appearance. "Oh, honey, you look beautiful," she gushes, wrapping me in her warmth.
"Is it time to head down yet?" I ask, the nerves bunching my intestines together, anxiety rising at the possibility of screwing this up somehow. I don't have the best track record of keeping my mouth shut around random Alphas, always saying the wrong thing.
"Not yet," she says, finally releasing me to meet my eye to hers, "would you let me do your makeup? And maybe your hair?" Olivia asks timidly. As a total girly girl, she is completely wasted on a son, but I think the Alpha can appreciate one less strain on his credit card.
Tonight is going to be a shit show anyways. I might as well look cute while it happens; when will I ever get another chance? Nodding yes, I sit into the chair in front of the vanity I have no use for.

DAMON POV
The longer it takes for Elle to come downstairs, the more unstable Slade becomes. Having this many unmated alpha males around Elle has him on high alert. It doesn't help that this whole thing was thrown together within the last few days, but something seems fishy about the whole arrangement. I can't put my finger on it, but my mom has been too giddy since informing me.
No longer able to handle Slade's constant pacing, I weave through the eleven visiting Alpha heirs, heading towards the bar. "Whiskey, please?" I ask Harry, the omega working behind the bar. The nice thing about having a wolf is no one blinks an eye when I order alcohol at a function.
"Of course, Alpha," he replies, quickly pouring the drink and handing it to me. "Thanks, Harry," I say, taking the glass into my hand and downing a large gulp instantly. Bending over the bar, I attempt to relax as the drink's heat warms my chest. After a minute or two, I feel a figure standing next to me; glancing upward, I groan inwardly when I see who it is.
Tristan Dugray is a particularly annoying douchebag, even among Alphas. Until recently, our packs were not friendly; even now, that relationship is tenuous. The Dugrays of the Redshaw Pack are one of the few that hold onto the old conservative beliefs. Women in their packs do not fight or work; their only responsibility is to their mates and pups. Tristan's father never brings his Luna on business trips or into meetings. Although everyone else knows it's sleep with other women, since he rejected his fated and took a chosen.
Leaning against the bar, he scans the room, slightly disappointed by the sausage fest this party is. Until a low whistle comes out of his mouth, "you've been holding out on us, Ledger. Damn, that's one fine bitch."
I look at him, confused by his words, until it hits me at full force, cinnamon and vanilla. Spinning around, I watch Elle descend the stairs, her hair falling in curls to the middle of her back. Her face has a light layer of makeup accentuating her features. The sheer lipgloss was like a lighthouse calling out to me from across the room. My eyes continue trailing her body, my blood turning into ice when I see the dress that's barely long enough to cover her ass.
"Who is that?" Tristan asks, nudging my side as he nods to Elle, who has stepped into the room without my parents. They need to hurry the hell up, the sooner we eat, the quicker Slade, and I can get Elle away from the eleven Alphas watching her like she is a lone gazelle in a lion's den.
"A nobody, Omega," I mutter, drinking the rest of my whiskey in one burning gulp, "don't worry about her." Tristan's attraction to Elle is obvious as his eyes watch her, the desire clear on his face.
"She doesn't look like a rank chaser," he comments, his eyes never leaving her, which has Slade itching for control to treat him a lesson. My control holding on by a very tenuous thread on the verge of snapping. "Which will make it even more satisfying when I can get her to scream my name in bed," Tristan says, and any restraint that I did have snapped like a twig being stepped on.
A low growl rumbles in my chest, causing him to study my face, a mischievous sneer overcoming his features, "Ahhh, so she is your little toy," excitement lacing his words as he eye fucks Elle intentionally, seeing my struggle against Slade's wishes to come forward and beat him into a bloody pulp he continues to taunt me.
"What do you think, Ledger? Think I should try her next? We can have a little competition to see who can get her to scream the loudest-" Tristan taunts, but it's the last thing I remember before my peripheral vision fades to black leaving only his face in the center. That's all it takes for Slade to surge forward in a rage, tackling Tristan to the ground snarls and commotion surrounding the room as the other young Alpha's rush forward to watch.
Tristen and I are rolling wildly on the floor, punches flying, and I am thanking the Goddess that more of mine are landing than his. Growling, I grab him by the neck, slamming his head back into the marble flooring, blood oozing into a puddle beneath him. I sense his stamina wavering as I deliver repeated blows to his bruised and bloody face.
After five minutes of endless punching and slamming his head into the flooring, Slade's gravelly voice says, "she's not your plaything, she's mine, and if you so much as look at her again, you'll leave my territory in a fucking body bag."
I drop him carelessly to the ground leaving him bruised and bloody without a care in the world, looking around at the other young Alphas in the room, making them understand the same will happen if they look at Elle. I don't feel satisfied until I see everyone nod in acknowledgment, Alphas can be a competitive bunch especially when another one has or wants something.
As I scan the room, my eyes land on a pair of green ones, wide with shock. Launching forward, I easily catch up to Elle before she can bolt from the room. Grabbing her by the elbow, I nearly moan in pleasure from the sparks shooting wildly from the skin-to-skin contact. Thankfully, my anger at her stupidity keeps me from making any mistakes.
I always avoid touching Elle, knowing it'll be easier to keep my self-preservation if I maintain distance; dragging her beside me, I throw her into a spare bedroom, following in behind her letting my aura wrap around her. As soon as the door closes, her warm and inviting scent engulfs the space making me dizzy and unable to concentrate properly.
Growling, I turn my ice-cold stare onto her, enjoying the shiver that runs down her spine and the carnal desire that flashes in her eyes for the briefest of seconds before disappearing again. "You need to leave, now," I force out between clenched teeth, trying to let my Alpha orders work their magic. "These men will never accomplish anything with you dressed like a slut begging for their attention. Go!" I scream, pointing to the door and watching her flinch.
The urge to be defiant flits across Elle's perfectly shaped features. My fingers and Slade are begging me to reach out and touch her porcelain skin, but I don't, keeping my bloodied fists clenched at my sides. "NOW! LEAVE!" I scream one last time, watching her scurry out of the room. I listen as her shoes travel around the upper levels.
Turning around, I see mom and dad standing in the hallway with disappointed looks and anger as they glare at me for messing up this entire evening.
Fuck.
ELLE POV Once the Bronco crosses into New Moon's territory, my anxiety suddenly skyrockets. Damon grabs my hand, sensing my nerves; tingles unfurl, calming me at once. Reconfirming something neither of us is ready to say out loud; instead, it lingers underneath every interaction. 'Elle, there is something that we need to discuss,' Scarlett says quickly, 'it cannot be avoided. The first chance that we are alone.' 'Okay,' I reply, as Damon mutters, "shit," his body tensing, staring at Olivia pruning the petunias in the front yard, but he doesn't release my hand. Instead interlocking his fingers with mine like he is terrified of letting me go. Damon murmurs, "Stay here." Stopping in front of the house, parking in the turnaround drive before hopping out to scurry around, hoping to get past his mother. Nothing gets past Olivia. I swear she was a witch in a past life, but I stay put to have a secretive talk with Scarlett. 'What is so important that we can't wait?' I ask, wanting to
DAMON POV My entire body is on fire, every inch of my skin sparking with ecstasy. Slade is purring like a baby kitten, and I know I should focus on the task, but I keep getting distracted by her scent. Goddess, help me stop the semi- I am already sporting as she wiggles around, trying to adjust. If she continues this, I will drag her into another room and have my way with her. 'Hey, uhhh Alpha, could you cool with the horny ass Alpha energy, please?' Matt begs through the mindlink, breaking through the thin barriers I had set up. Glancing at Matt, Andrew, and Theo, they all wear the same uncomfortable, flushed expression as they try not to be affected. 'Sorry,' I grumble, 'I will try too, but I can't make any promises.' How can I calm myself quickly when all my hidden fantasies were this scenario? Being open and free with Elle, now all I have to do is mark her, and the picture will be complete. "Okay, can we back up to the beginning?" Charity asks, leading the questions with th
ELLE POV Damon leaves me sitting on the edge of the window sill, panting and breathless, my panties soaking wet from his kisses and teasing touches. 'I swear to the Goddess if you do not go after him,' Scarlett scolds, breaking through the fog and my feet finally working to chase after him. Walking down the hallway to my room, I find his scent right outside my room; entering, I expect to find him on the bed or one of the armchairs, but he isn't. Seeing the door slightly ajar, I hear the bathtub filling with water; pushing the door wider, I see Damon leaning against the counter. His smug attitude is prancing around the room while the tub fills with bubbles and water. "Strip," Damon demands, his eyes consuming every part of me as if trying to imprint my features into his memory. The energy rolling off of him is suffocating and more robust than it has ever been in the past. I don't move a muscle, standing there staring defiantly. "Babygirl, I am not in the mood to punish you, but I
DAMON POV It didn't take long for Elle to fall asleep after I carried her to bed from the tub. I covered her with the duvet cover, hoping to sneak away, but instead found myself crawling beside her. Pulling her onto my chest, I hope the uncertainty settling in my bones begins to ease with her in my arm, but it's useless. An emotion I never thought I'd experience has me in its death grip; fear. As the clock ticks closer to midnight, the uneasiness sits in my stomach like lead, weighing me down. A change is coming, and I still haven't decided if it's good or bad. Squeezing Elle closer to me, I run my fingers through her silky smooth hair, still slightly damp, small whimpers leaving her mouth while she snuggles closer. 'You never mentioned marking her,' Slade reminds me, obviously vexed that I am not rushing the subject, but insecurities run deep. 'I know,' I sigh, irritated that I have to explain this to him again, 'Elle has enough on her mind with the shift tonight, and I don't
ELLE POV Rolling over, half asleep, I reach for the hard chest of a man I know is supposed to be there, only to come up empty. Trying not to let my imagination run amuck, I sit up in bed, rubbing the sleep from my eyes before looking around the room, only to find it dark and empty. Glancing at the side table, the clock says 11:10; only fifty more minutes to go until midnight. Before the nerves can burrow, making themselves home in my stomach, the door opens. Damon storms into the room, a dark cloud hanging over his head until he realizes I have woken up, and a calm smile spreads across his face as his gaze wanders over my body. As if he can see through the duvet covering my naked body. "What's wrong?" I ask as I try to decipher the sudden change in his attitude from entering to seeing me awake. "Nothing, Biscuit," he replies, "did you enjoy your nap?" He asks while walking over to plant a kiss on my forehead, sparks sprinkling over my flesh at the quick contact. "You need to get
DAMON POV As soon as the clock turns midnight, an eerie silence fills the field, everyone waiting with bated breath, a tangible power radiating from Elle. Saturating so much of the air around us, it can be tasted on the tip of the tongue; spicy and invigorating. Any hope that the authority coming from Elle is a good sign things will go smoothly is quickly dashed when a bloodcurdling scream left her lips, ripping my heart to shreds. Before I can move toward her, my father's voice echoes through the link, 'Stay, Damon. She is a Firstborn Alpha son; she must bear this pain alone, as did you and all firstborn Alphas.' 'You can send her words of encouragement,' my mom's voice comes through, nodding towards Elle on the ground whimpering in agony, her body already drenched in sweat. 'Don't cross the boundary though, no matter how much pain it looks like she is in, okay?' Nodding in understanding, I lower myself to the ground, keeping my gaze locked on Elle's face, "It'll be okay, Biscu
JONAH POV The pain starts subtly once again, starting on my wrists before the burning in my chest; it started on the drive back to Diamond claw without Elle. That bastard is having me punished and is using Tiffany to do it. I know what it means; he is allowing his men to put their filthy paws on something that doesn't belong to me. "Accchh!" I scream, my claws digging into my chest because tearing out my heart would be better than feeling this every day. Thor is howling in agony, the burn quickly consuming my soul before stopping suddenly, a less-than-subtle reminder of the predicament I find myself in. Why Goddess? What could Tiffany or I have done to deserve this? 'When we finally get our hands on that fucking bastard,' Thor roars in my head, my fist numb while it repeatedly smashes into the wall, not caring about the blood or broken hand, knowing it'll be healed by tomorrow. The hairs on my neck stand on end while two people stand in the doorway, watching silently as I take
CHARITY POV I feel... powerful and magnificent as I zip through the woods, under the moonlight, the gentle breeze running through my fur, the trees in my peripheral are shadowy blurs. I can't believe I survived that shift. I shouldn't have. I had no reason to. Out of all the wolves on the field, what is so special about me? 'One, we are powerful and magnificent,' Summer says, her voice light and airy, loving the feel of our paws pounding into the earth, 'own that shit. Two, Scarlett sensed that and called out to me, asking me to step forward to the Gamma position. We already knew who her Beta was going to be.' 'Theo,' we say in unison as we wander absentmindedly throughout the pack lands, following dutifully behind my Alpha; while he runs around us in a wider perimeter. The two have had an incredibly strong bond since moving here, and I wasn't surprised when I saw he had also shifted. 'Wolves can do that?' I ask. 'Talk to each other without us knowing?' I had never heard of wolve
FOUR YEARS LATER Elle- 22 years old; Damon- 23 years old ELLE POV ************************** I don't know what's going on with me, but it's not pretty, my stomach convulsing with another dry heave like it's waged a bloody war on my body without my knowledge. Goddess, what is this? Was I poisoned? It has to be poison. Someone trying to kill me slowly is the only obvious reason behind this sickness. Werewolves don't get sick. Leaning my head against the porcelain rim of a place my face should never be close to, I try catching my breath, my forehead pouring in sweat. A sickly sweet smell makes its way into my nostrils as another wave of nausea forces its way through me. Rolling my insides around like a boat in the middle of the ocean during a summer storm. "Happy Matesday!" Damon sings, pushing open the bathroom door, a tray in his hand, the offensive odor oozing from beneath the plate cover. Before I can keep it in, I am purging the nonexistent contents of my stomach. Once I f
DAMON POV I look like a fool, with a smile covering my lips, as I saunter into the decorated ballroom filled with our guests as they drink and mingle, eating from the appetizer trays being carried around the room. Some guests are already dancing to the music played by the DJ, typical of werewolf parties. Scanning the room, I find Andrew and Matt standing at the bar. My feet taking me to them, only to be stopped along the way by guests wishing me congratulations. Five minutes later, I finally make it to the bar where Andrew stands, glaring at the dance floor. Matt hands me a whiskey, an easy-go-lucky grin on his face. "That's the look of a man who got some biscuits," he chuckles. "Yeah," I grin, enjoying the banter, while licking my lips "and I ate the whole damn plate, it was delicious." My reply has Matt choking on his drink, making me laugh harder. Andrew remains unbothered, signaling to the bartender for a refill. "Come on," Matt says, coughing through the burn of his drink,
ELLE POV I thought the nerves of today would be so overwhelming that breathing is difficult, but for the first time in a long time, I am at peace. Twirling the ring I found in the psychic shop, the ring my father gave to my mother, I know I should get rid of it, but a part of me can't give it up. While my mother owned it for a time, it was never truly hers but belongs to the entire Luna lineage of Silver Run, so getting rid of it never felt right. So instead of thinking about my mother, I focus on the amazing Lunas' who wore it before her and will wear it after me. 'Biscuit,' Damon's husky voice comes through my mind, like liquid gold coating my body, sending shivers down my spine. 'I think your dad would understand if you didn't want to wear that ring.' He comments, knowing my inner struggles without verbalization. Choosing to learn from our parent's mistakes, we always keep the connection between us open. 'I know,' I sigh, as I stare at the ring sitting on my finger, 'I miss you
THREE DAYS LATER ELLE'S POV The last few days have been hectic as I try to make all the arrangements and keep New Moon running while also being in constant contact with Theo about what's happening in Silver Run; killing Tiberius and leaving the pack hasn't left the pack members in good faith. We haven't had the chance to talk about what we will do with both packs, but the distance makes running both nearly impossible. However, we are finally returning to Silver Run, and I can handle some pressing matters that need to be taken care of. Theo is doing his best but isn't an Alpha; the pack needs me, and Damon's pack needs him. How are we going to divide our time? The travel alone will be a bitch...and splitting from him is not an option. Tingles spark along my hand as Damon grabs my hand, pulling me from my rambling thoughts into the present as he turns the car onto the main road. Andrew follows behind us with Theo's dad, and the robin hood of rogues takes up the rear of the carava
DAMON POV The morning after finding my mate should be filled with nothing but mindblowing sex, energy bars, and water; nothing else, and certainly not this fucking bullshit. Not a blood-curdling anger that consumes every inch of my soul, one that seems to last forever now that I am marked to Elle. When Andrew and Matt interrupted my wonderful morning to tell me what had happened, I almost didn't believe them. There was no way my father would reject my mother. No, she was his entire world, and I believe in the bond because of them. Walking into the cell to see both my parents sobbing and somehow on the verge of unconsciousness. After getting the abbreviated version from my father while my mother remains silent, the rest of the world blows away as I fall into the black pit of wrath. I barely understand what I am saying, words of unintelligible hatred being spewed at my mother. I barely sense her fear, so lost in my anger, my father whimpers as he tries to manage the pain fueling me
ELLE POV Stretching my limbs, I roll onto my side, happiness spreading from the top of my head to the very bottom of my feet. Opening my eyes, I find Damon already awake, a large grin covering his face as he watches me sleep. "What's with the smile?" I ask him, wiggling my body closer to his, craving the skin contact as tingles erupt over my skin. "I remember everything," he answers, adjusting his body to wrap me in his arms, laying my head on his chest, "and I realized something." "Oh, what is that?" I ask him, trying to recall the overwhelming memories flooding my brain. Some of them are wonderful. Making breakfast with my father or when he would take me swimming back home. I remember the times with Theo and coming to New Moon to see Damon. But there are the darker ones, the memories I never want to talk about again- the ones that should be locked away in a box. Memories of my mother I never want to touch- she could be loving whenever my father was around, but if it was the two
*******THIS IS A FREE CHAPTER******** *****THIS HAPPENS WHILE DAMON IS BUSY WITH ELLE ;)*** ******************************* MATT POV I don't think I have ever felt as relieved as I did when we walked out the pack gates to find Charity alive and looking more beautiful than Zeke or I have ever witnessed. Even covered in blood, sweat, and dirt, she looked like a warrior. Like a Gamma, I had never felt more proud of her. Or at least that's what I thought. Until she threatened my life with the promise of dumping my body outside the territory lines as if the shortcake could carry my large frame by herself. But still, the promise sets my entire body ablaze, and as much as I hate that rogue fucker he wasn't wrong when he calls her a fireball because she is. A feisty little fireball who has weaseled herself underneath my skin, and now I can't seem to shake her. Walking out my front door, I cross the front yard in seconds before climbing the steps of Charity's porch two at a time, my fi
ANDREW POV I am trying not to think about the fact that Theo didn't come back as Damon carries Elle through the gate and up to the house. With an exasperated sigh, I turn on the Beta energy and do what is expected when all I want to do is call Theo and make sure he is alive. Death or severe injury is the only reason I could see him not returning home with his Luna. "I can't believe he is letting them onto the territory," Matt grunts pulling me from my spiral downward as he glares at the car in front of us. We are letting rogues into the territory; what is Damon thinking? With a shrug, I walk to the car because I figure it's better to get these introductions over with. Charity walks over, intercepting us before we reach the car, but far enough away that they won't hear us. Her body is covered in the blood of her slain enemies, exhaustion all over her. As soon as Matt sees her, his entire demeanor changes, but she ignores him, focusing solely on me. "Theo is alive; he stayed home t
ELLE POV Damon hovers above me, staring into my eyes, his hand caressing my cheek, the nerves of this moment rising into my throat, and it's like he can tell. He leans his forehead against mine, the electricity buzzing while the sparks run rampant along my skin in ways it never has. "We don't have to do this if you're not ready, Elle. I love you and will wait as long as needed for you to be comfortable." "I love you too, but I won't lie," I say, my mouth slightly dry, "I am a little nervous, but I know you would never hurt me." I wrap my arms around his shoulders, pulling him closer as my lips meet his, mixing while the rest of the world disappears. A primal growl reverberates through his chest as I nip his lower lip, my tongue demanding entrance as they swirl together, giving way to Damon's demand for control. Without removing his lips from my body, he moves them along my jaw, causing a small sigh to leave me, the smell of my desire so heavy in the room you could practically tas
