I stopped minutes later in front of my mother's room, where I entered in total silence. She, as beautiful as ever, was sitting on the bed reading a book that perhaps Ryan had bought for her.

Mom Monica, upon seeing me arrive, set the book aside with her eyes wide open, surprised that I was up and walking towards her despite my discomfort.

Hurriedly, she threw off the sheet almost kicking it, got out of bed with great care, enveloping me in her arms before I even reached halfway.

"Darling!" she exclaimed, squeezing me with immense affection, which elicited a sincere smile from me, enchanted by her tenderness. "I'm so sorry!"

"Mom, you don't have to apologize," I murmured in her ear, giving her a chaste kiss on the cheek, wiping away her silent tears with my lips.
