I shook my head, dispelling my negative thoughts. I would give my best to keep Jack alive, but the prognosis was not encouraging.

I hurriedly wiped away the tears that had escaped from my eyes upon hearing the doorbell ringing throughout the house. It was surely those two who had agreed to go buy some gifts for the kids and then pick me up. I ran to open the door without bothering to even glance to make sure it was them. After all, Jack was lying in bed barely breathing.

I turned around, ready to grab my suitcase to leave.

"I'm almost done packing everything, just wait for me for a second..." I whispered as I returned to the room. Remembering that I didn't have my identifications, I rummaged through the nightstand, and it was terrifyingly surprising to find a pile of messages I hadn't seen in a long time, ever since Jack had reappeared in my life.
