Tasha’s gaze remained locked on the shattered window, her grip tightening around Ethan. She swallowed hard, her voice steady despite her pounding heart.

“Someone just threw something through the window.” Tasha’s heart raced as she slowly approached the broken window, clutching Ethan close to her side. She scanned the darkness outside, her breath shallow, her grip on the phone tightening.

“Are you okay? Is Ethan hurt?” Daniel’s voice was urgent on the line.

“We’re fine,” Tasha whispered, her eyes narrowing as she tried to make out any movement beyond the jagged glass. “But I don’t see anyone out there. It’s too dark.”

Ethan buried his face in her side, trembling. “Mom, what’s happening?”

Tasha crouched down, cupping his face gently. “It’s okay, sweetheart. We’re safe. I promise.” She turned her attention back to the phone. “Daniel, what should I do?”

That Night After the police left, Mike remained vigilant, pacing around the living room as Tasha tidied up the shards of broken glass. She couldn't sit still, the adrenaline still coursing through her veins. “Why don’t you try to get some sleep?” Mike suggested as he checked the locks on the doors and windows for the third time. “I can’t,” Tasha replied, shaking her head. She glanced at Ethan, who was still asleep on the couch, clutching his toy car. “What if they come back?” “They won’t,” Mike assured her. “Not with the police already involved. I’ll keep watch, I promise.” Tasha nodded but didn’t move. Instead, she busied herself making tea in the kitchen, her hands trembling slightly as she poured the water. She brought two mugs into the living room and handed one to Mike. “Thanks,” he said, sitting down across from her. For a

Her voice rose slightly, her emotions spilling over. “And his father? You’re saying I should turn my back on the father of my son?” Robbin ran a hand through his hair, his jaw clenching before he spoke. “This isn’t about loyalty or gratitude, Tasha. It’s about making sure you and Ethan don’t get hurt. Don’t you see how dangerous this has become?” Tasha’s shoulders stiffened, her resolve clear. “I see it, Robbin. But I also see the lengths Daniel has gone to protect me and I won’t abandon him now.” Robbin released a heavy sigh, his frustration melting into something softer. “I just... I want you both to be okay. Ethan, he’s like a son to me. And you, Tasha... I care about you more than you know.” Her expression softened slightly, but she didn’t waver. “I know, Robbin. And I care about you too. But I have to do what I believe is right.”

The night had grown quiet, and Tasha finally allowed herself to relax, her eyes growing heavy as she sat on the couch. She wasn’t sure how long she’d drifted off before a faint hissing sound woke her. Her brows furrowed as she sniffed the air, an odd chemical scent wafting through the room. It was subtle at first, but as she stood, it grew stronger. Panic gripped her chest. She hurried toward the kitchen and froze. The faint hissing noise was louder now, coming from the stove. She saw the knob slightly turned. Someone had tampered with it. Her hands trembled as she turned the knob to the “off” position, but the gas smell lingered. Not wanting to take any chances, she quickly grabbed Ethan from his room, wrapping him in a blanket. He stirred but didn’t fully wake. With her phone in hand, she rushed outside and dialed Greg, the head of her security team. “Greg,” she said, her voice shaky, “I think there’s

Tasha had finally drifted off to sleep, her arm protectively wrapped around Ethan. The little boy snuggled against her, his steady breathing offering her a fragile sense of comfort. For the first time in days, her racing thoughts had quieted, allowing her a few hours of peace. Daniel arrived just as the first rays of sunlight began streaming through the window. He paused in the doorway, taking in the sight of them sleeping. It was a rare, tender moment, one he didn’t want to disturb. Quietly, he approached the bed. Tasha’s hair was slightly tousled, a stray lock falling across her face. Daniel reached out and gently moved it aside. As his fingers brushed her skin, she stirred, her eyelids fluttering open. “Shhh,” he whispered, his voice soft and soothing. “Good morning.” She blinked up at him, her groggy expression quickly giving way to a sm

Daniel studied her carefully. “I... I don’t believe that.” Tasha shook her head, her expression firm. “No, I don’t. It’s too convenient. Vanessa doesn’t just vanish without a reason or without a plan. I can feel it she’s still out there, waiting for the right moment.” Daniel sighed, running a hand through his hair. “That’s a possibility we can’t ignore. But if she’s laying low, it might mean she’s planning something dangerous. We have to stay vigilant.” Tasha nodded. “I won’t let her catch us off guard again.” Ethan, still happily eating his pancakes, looked up at his parents with a curious smile. “Mom, Dad, are you talking about the bad guys again?” Daniel forced a reassuring smile. “Nothing you need to worry about, buddy. Just grown up stuff.” Ethan shrugged and went back to his breakfast, blissful

Tasha’s grip on her phone tightened as Vanessa’s words echoed in her ears. “I’m outside. Don’t keep me waiting.” Her breath came in short gasps, but she forced herself to stay calm. She turned back, scanning the aisles for Mike, but he was nowhere to be seen. “Mike?” she called out sharply, but there was no response. Panic threatened to overwhelm her, but she knew she didn’t have time to lose. Her fingers trembled as she quickly dialed Daniel’s number. Daniel answered almost immediately, his voice laced with concern. “Tasha? What’s wrong?” “It’s Vanessa,” she whispered, stepping out of the toy store and onto the busy mall walkway. “She has Ethan.” “What?” Daniel’s voice rose in alarm. “Where are you? Where’s Mike?” “I don’t know,

The car skidded to a halt, smoke rising from the hood. For a moment, there was only silence, the world eerily still. Tasha’s head spun. She tried to focus, but everything was blurred around her. Ethan’s small, trembling hand was still in hers, but she couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. Darkness threatened to take over her senses as her body felt weightless, and her mind began to slip away. “Mom? Mom?” Ethan’s voice, faint but full of panic, echoed in the distance. But it was fading, the edges of his voice muffled as everything slipped into blackness. The sterile white lights were too bright, the machines too loud. The sound of beeping filled Tasha’s ears, the rhythm a constant reminder that she was still here, still alive. But she wasn’t truly awake. Not yet.

The doctor raised a hand to calm them. "If Mr. Sterling agrees, we can temporarily assign guardianship to Mr. Robbin while Ms. Tasha is recovering. But this has to be a joint decision." Daniel looked away, clenching his jaw. After a long pause, he finally spoke. "Fine. But I’m not stepping back. I’m still his father." Robbin nodded. "I never said you weren’t." The doctor scribbled something on the file. "Alright. We’ll get the paperwork started." Daniel ran a hand down his face, exhausted but resigned. "Can we see her now?" The doctor nodded. "I’ll have a nurse take you in." Robbin exhaled, glancing toward the door. As they stepped out of the doctor’s office, the tension between Daniel and Robbin was thick. The

Daniel sat in his car outside the house, gripping the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles were white. He had promised he wouldn’t overstep. He had promised he would only come for Ethan. But damn it, walking away from Tasha like that, hearing her say she didn’t want him around, hurt more than he thought it would. He raked a hand through his hair, frustration and helplessness twisting inside him. How will she remember. She didn’t remember what they had built, what they had gone through, what they had recently meant to each other. And now, she didn’t even want to try. His phone buzzed, snapping him out of his thoughts. He glanced at the screen, Stanley. With a heavy sigh, Daniel picked up. “How did it go?” St

Tasha glanced at the clock again, tapping her fingers against her arm. They should be back by now. She paced slightly, trying to shake off the strange unease creeping in. Maybe traffic was bad. Maybe Ethan had asked Daniel to stop somewhere. She walked to the window, peering outside. Still nothing. With a sigh, she turned away, only for the sound of a car pulling into the driveway to grab her attention. She moved back toward the door just as it opened, and the first thing she heard was Ethan’s excited voice. “Mom! We got ice cream!” Tasha barely had time to react before Ethan ran up to her, his face bright with excitement. “It was soooo good! Dad let me pick any flavor I wanted, and I got chocolate and cookies and cream! And I added M&Ms, and whipped cream, and even caramel drizzle!” He bounced on his feet as she smoothed his curls, trying not to let her gaze drift to Daniel, who

Tasha stared at the message for what felt like an eternity, her fingers hovering over the screen. Her heart raced, unsure of the words she had just typed. 'Let’s talk tomorrow' It was a simple message, but it carried so much weight, so many layers of emotions she couldn’t yet understand. She bit her lip, debating whether she should send it. What if it triggered something else or something she wasn’t ready to face? But then again, the words were already there. She couldn’t take them back, could she? A deep breath escaped her as she pressed her thumb on the screen and clicked send. The phone buzzed softly in her hand, the message now sent into the ether. She waited. For what? She wasn’t sure. A response, perhaps? Some kind of acknowledgment that she hadn’t completely lost herself or the person she used to be? Minutes passed. Nothing. Tasha let out a shaky breath and put the phone d

Ethan had always been an observant child. He wasn’t the type to ask too many questions, but he noticed everything. And lately, things felt... off. His mom was home now. She was healthy again. That should’ve made everything better, but it didn’t. Because something was missing. Or rather, someone. Ethan sat on the couch, hugging his knees as he watched his mom laughing softly at something Robbin said. She looked happy, but it wasn’t the kind of happiness Ethan was used to seeing. Though, not like she often smile at his dad. Not like when his family felt whole to him at some point. His little heart twisted. “Mom?” he finally spoke up.

Daniel stood outside the estate long after the doors had shut. The weight of Tasha’s words crushed him. "I don’t trust you." How had it come to this? He clenched his fists, inhaling deeply. He could feel Robbin watching from inside, probably smug, thinking he had won. But Daniel wasn’t giving up. Not this time. With one last glance at the estate, he turned, heading to his car. His mind was already working. If he couldn’t force his way in, he needed another way to reach Tasha. And he knew exactly where to start. Tasha lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. Her head ached. Her body was exhausted. But her mind wouldn’t stop spinning. Seeing Daniel had unsettled her in ways she hadn’t expected. His presence had stirred something deep inside, something familiar, something

Daniel sat across from Stanley in his dimly lit apartment. The room was still in shambles, glass shards on the floor, the remnants of his drunken rage evident in the broken furniture and toppled whiskey bottle. His head throbbed, and his heart ached even more. Stanley handed him another bottle of water. “You need to get a grip, Daniel.” Daniel scoffed, taking a sip. “A grip? hmm... Tasha doesn’t even want me around. My own son looks at me like he’s afraid I’ll disappear again. And on top of that, Vanessa is still out there. What exactly am I supposed to get a grip on?” Stanley leaned back in the chair, sighing. “You want Tasha back, right?” Daniel shot him a glare. “What kind of question is that?” “Then act like it,” Stanley snapped. “Drinking yourself into a stupor won’t fix anything. If you’re going to win her back, you need a plan. Right now, all she know

The hours dragged by, each minute stretching into what felt like eternity. Daniel lay there on the floor, his mind a jumbled mess of regret, anger, and sorrow. The apartment felt colder now, the silence almost suffocating, pressing down on him from all sides. He didn’t want to move, didn’t want to face the reality of it all. The world outside could go on, but he was stuck, paralyzed by his own thoughts, unable to find a way out. The sound of the doorbell rang through the stillness, but Daniel didn’t even flinch. His eyes were heavy, his body unmoving, as if he had become a part of the room itself. The ringing continued, insistent, but he ignored it. Let them come. He wasn’t in the mood for company. He didn’t want to see anyone—especially not now. But the door clicked open, and soon enough, the sound of footsteps approached. Stanley’s voice broke through the fog in Daniel’s mind. “What the hell? Daniel?” The words were sharp, filled with concern, but Daniel didn’t react. He didn’t

Tasha’s words hung heavily in the air, slicing through the tense silence. "I see no one is going to tell me," Tasha continued, her voice firm despite the exhaustion in her frame. She took a step back, the IV stand rattling slightly as she steadied herself. Her eyes were sharp, filled with a mixture of confusion and coldness that hurt Daniel to the core. Daniel’s chest tightened as he opened his mouth to speak, but Tasha held up a hand to stop him. “I don’t want you coming here like you have the rights,” she said, her tone cold and final. It wasn’t the tone of the woman he once knew weeks ago. This was a stranger, a woman who, for the moment, couldn’t remember the sincerity they had shared for the past weeks. Daniel wanted to argue, wanted to explain everything, but when she cut him off again, the words stuck in his throat. “I don’

Outside the Room… Robbin stepped into the hallway, exhaling sharply as he ran a hand through his hair. His mind was still spinning from everything that had happened, Tasha waking up, her memory loss, the way she had looked at Daniel like he was a stranger. He should have felt relief that she was alive, but all he could focus on was the uncertainty of what came next. The sound of measured footsteps drew his attention, and when he turned, Mr. Belvoir was standing a few feet away, his expression unreadable. The older man regarded him in silence for a moment before finally speaking. “I see how much you care for my daughter.” Robbin straightened, swallowing the emotions that had been simmering inside him. “I do,” he said simply. “Everyone knows that.” Mr. Belvoir gave a slow nod. “And you’ve been there for her, protected her, even when I couldn’t.” Robbi
