His coat on, he picked up his bag and moved to the door. He turned saying, “Are you sure you’ll be ok. I’ll only be gone a few hours.”
That was sweet but I hardly require a babysitter. “I’m a grown woman in case you haven’t noticed. Most the time… I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself.” Besides, I knew he wasn’t coming back. He was sweet and I like having him here, but I was hardly worth staying for and I knew it. I feel this attraction, this pull to him. I thought it was mutual but I’ve been wrong before. I was too old for him and I knew he would have to admit it eventually.
