Present Day

Sir Mr. Ricci is on line 2” Christine, my assistant, paged into my office.

“Thank you Christine,” I replied, rolling my eyes. I had no desire to speak to the man, especially since he called a little over an hour ago, which I ignored.

“Romano” I said, hitting the speaker button and leaning back in my office chair.

“Care to share with me why it’s taking so fucking long for us to figure who planned the attack on my warehouse?” Ricci boomed through the phone.

“Well good morning to you too” I grumbled, knowing how this conversation was going to go.

“Oh don’t give me that bullshit Kade, we both know that the pleasantries are long gone. If your father was still alive..”

Before he could finish, interrupted, “Well he’s not. So I will have to do. Unless you want to find another security firm that's willing to deal with all facets of your business.” My tone was cool and straight forward.

I couldn’t stand the slimy scumbag, but my father had brought Ricci in as a client with a hefty contract. I didn’t want to tell him that I had a royal Phantom pain in my ass that I had a feeling was the one who was behind the attack. We’ve been playing this dance for a couple of years now. Sparing off in the cyber world against each other. Trying to uncover each other's identity was like trying to find a specific needle in a stack of needles.

“I have my best team on it as you know sir. We will be doing everything we can to figure out who is responsible for this but, if you keep on calling me every hour I can’t do my job. So please do what you hired me to do.”

“Fine,” he grumbled, and I ended the call.

I looked at the stack of resumes on my desk. Why my assistant insisted on having paper copies was beyond me, but I knew that I needed to go through them for the interviews that we had scheduled for the next couple of days. One in particular caught my eye.

Evelyn Myers, has an associates degree in Computer analytics and cyber security. Currently working as the cyber security and operations manager at Domino’s gym. The gym was widely known and had a waitlist to get into. I personally had taken some of the jiu jitsu classes there to see if it lived up to the hype. It did, especially for the Victoria's Secret bombshell that ran the class and kicked everyone’s ass. I didn’t continue my membership, since I had my own gym in my penthouse and my brute best friend was more than enough to spar with. I wonder if I would recognize Evelyn from there. I checked my calendar to see when she was coming in and to my surprise she was my first interview for the day tomorrow morning.

Normally candidates without a bachelor's degree were not selected, however, Dominos gym was an elite establishment that had some of the most lucrative clientele in the area. Stealing someone from their staff would be a gold mine, as they could help expand our relationships with businesses that we hadn’t had contracts with yet.

After my morning meetings, I sat in front of my computer, sifting through data and codes to help me identify who had infiltrated Ricci’s warehouse. Hyper focused on my computer I didn’t hear my best friend and business partner, Evan “The Machine” Amaro enter my office.

“I have news,” Evan said while I nearly jumped out of my office chair.

“Jesus Christ, Ev, you scared the shit out of me.” I took off my glasses and rubbed my eyes. The past 24 hours had been hell and the lack of sleep was not helping.

Evan chuckled, “and they call you Ghost, yet I’m the one who spooks you!”

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah yeah, what’s the news?”

“I don’t know who tipped them off, but I can tell you that Phantom was definitely snooping and accessing the cameras of the warehouse when the feds infiltrated it. “

“Fuck…” I muttered, closing my eyes.

Evan placed a cup of coffee on my desk. “You look like shit, drink some fuel.”

I sighed, grabbing the cup. “Thanks,” I mumbled before taking a sip. I wished I could put more on my team to help find the culprits, however due to the sensitive nature of the bust, I did not want to compromise some of my valued employees. Some things were better off not being seen. And dead women and children who were supposed to be put in the skin trade, fell under that category. Lucky for me I was numb to almost everything cruel at this point.

Phantom, we need to talk about your next undercover assignment.” Chief motioned for me to take a seat across from him at his desk.“Tomorrow you will report to RSS (Romano security systems) as a candidate for their cyber security specialist position. “Ricci is a huge client of Romanos and is the best way for us to intercept information now that he’s covering his tracks even more because of the warehouse incident.”We went through my cover story as Evelyn Mower (my mother’s maiden last name). We kept everything as close to the truth as possible so when Romano pulled up my information there would be no way he could find discrepancies. Chief ended our conversation with, “Under no circumstances can Ricci identify you while you are at RSS. It will not only blow your cover but, potentially risk a full out war with the Mafia.” I nodded in understanding and walked out of his office. The next morning I opted out of my usual jeans, converse, and a tee shirt to corporate America's lady boss

Kade POVI don’t know what I expected from Evelyn Mowers, but it certainly was not this. Not only was she gorgeous, which was emphasized by her outfit that fit her curves just right, her last question threw me off guard. It was a bold question, but I couldn’t help but admire her confidence that came through as she spoke. I by no means thought I was a good man. You couldn’t be when you were the Don of the Italian Mafia. I killed those who wronged me or my family. However, I lived by a specific code, that my father and grandfather refused to live by. Following this code of ethics, allowed me to avoid unnecessary casualties and kept me from law enforcement's radar. After my father died from a heart attack over a year ago, I was forced to take on his empire along with his reputation as The Reaper. One could not get this name without being considered a monster. Although the reputation did keep my enemies in line, it also meant I acquired relationships like Anthony Ricci, that I did not w

Evelyn POV:The Hive was not at all what I thought it would be nor were the team members what I envisioned. With RSS prestige reputation, I figured I would be walking into a stuffy, black tie, office with everything in pristine order. Instead I was pleasantly surprised by a welcoming room with people dressed casually.A short curvy blonde named Lennie was the first to say hello. Her face was priceless when she was caught with a piece of pizza hanging from her mouth. Once seated, Lennie overviewed the purpose of the Hive. A tall, skinny male with shaggy brown hair and brown eyes stared at me with a blank expression as he sat across from me. His faded band t-shirt and jeans looked wrinkled as if he hadn't had any sleep in days. If I had to guess, that was Jax. Next to him was a tall red head, a woman with delicate features. She was naturally beautiful which was accentuated with a dusting of freckles along her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. She had a beaming smile and green eyes t

EVELYN POVAs I pulled up to Domino's Gym, I noticed the familiar vehicles of my team. I was surprised they all beat me when usually I was the first one to show up for meetings. I walked into the main entry of the gym and was greeted by our regular clients. Buddha was in the weight room spotting Arrow on the bench press. As soon as Buddha noticed me, a wide grin filled his face. It was their queue that it was time for the meeting. The conference room was located on the far side of the gym, hidden by a set of double doors that read “employees only.” I placed my hand on the scanner so it could read my handprint. It was a security measure that ensured that no patron would access the area. The scanner beeped and allowed me access through the doors. The bare hallway illuminated as I walked down the hallway that led to the conference room. The conference room was large with a huge oak table sat in the middle. On the back wall lined artillery and tech gear. Adjacent hung a large screen to

Evelyn POV As I entered the skyscraper of RSS, I was greeted by the friendly face of Lennie. She handed me my badge and guided me through security. One of the security officers chuckled when he saw the contents of my bag. Snoozie slippers, marshmallows, a massive yeti filled with coffee, and a framed picture of me and Alfredo. My face heated. I couldn’t help that I needed certain things in order to function and if I wanted to make this look real I needed to personalize my office space. “Welcome Ms. Mowers. I hope you enjoy your marshmallows.” The officer greeted me. Lennie looked confused until she saw my bag. “You’ll fit in just fine. Don’t worry.” Lennie said, giving my arm a little squeeze. As we entered the Hive, I was greeted by Gwen and Ollie. Jax barely spared a glance my way and continued to tap away on his keyboard. As I got settled, I booted up my work computer and put in my credentials. That’s when I noticed my task list along with the rest of the team. Annoyed as I r

Kade POV“Who ratted on Ricci’s shipment? I won’t ask you again.” I rested my hands on the two armrests that our current captive was tied to. We had been at this for over 2 hours. We needed to find out if Ricci was the one messing with our shipments now that one of his had been hit. But first we needed to know who attacked Ricci. “I swear man, I have no idea. I’m just a transporter for him. No one tells me anything.” The gaunt faced man cried. His little beady eyes filled with tears. I sighed and scrubbed a hand down my face. I squeezed Machine’s shoulder for him to take over. An evil grin took over Evan’s face. The guy had too many loose screws in his head. But that was why I also needed him. He was notorious for getting information. Twirling a knife in his hand he stalked towards the bloody man in the chair. “We are going to play a little game. It’s called I am going to cut things off until you talk. Don’t worry I’ll make sure that you stay alive until you do.” Machine crouched

Evelyn POVI walked into RSS Friday morning to complete chaos. Servers were down, phones weren’t working and staff were racing around the building trying to figure out what was going on. I rushed to the Hive where Jax was already seated typing frantically. “What’s going on?” I asked, quickly logging into items I could. When Jax didn’t respond, I repeated myself. “Jax, what the fuck is going on? You can resume whatever beef you have with me after we fix whatever is happening.” He ran a hand through his hair. My voice snapping me out of what he was working on. “A virus was planted into the server. I can’t find where the bug came from but it’s attacking the entire database.”Fuck this was wasn’t good. I couldn’t help but wonder if the glitches I found were connected to this. “Have you tried calling Mr. Romano?” “Yeah but he’s not picking up, and his secretary said he won’t be in until later this morning. The one day that he doesn’t come in early, Armageddon decides to happen.” The

Kade POV The one day that I did not come to the office early, was the one day that almost cost me the entire company. I paid Ricci a visit this morning to give him a gift. The ears of the transporter that Machine cut off last night. The conversation from there, was less than productive. Once I reached the office I was bombarded with questions, calls, texts, and emails. I was so angry to find out that Evelyn went against an order; however I couldn't help but admire her dedication. She clearly cared about others and their personal information. I knew I was harsh with her and Lennie. I made sure to send Lennie a text letting her know that her favorite donuts from her favorite bakery would be delivered to her this afternoon.I didn’t know enough about Evelyn. Except that she drank more coffee than a human should, she has a cute cat, and wore silly slipper socks.I needed to find out more about her and I knew just the place. —-Evan was all too eager to go to Domino’s with me. We slowly got into a routine with our newly formed family. Everything felt like it was slowly moving into place. Except for the radio silence, my sister had all of us on edge. We knew something was brewing. It was just a matter of time. For now, we would continue our lives as normal as we could. I had become an official partner for RSS and was working on liquidating all of Ricci Enterprise with the help of the Hive and my R-Team. The new headquarters and gym would be opening in a couple more weeks which had Buddha, Badger, Bodhi, and Chief extremely busy. I had helped name one particular wing that was designated for our training, specifically the mock missions training. The wing was named “Eye of Arrow” with a looped arrow symbol next to it to signify overcoming obstacles and solutions. Ever since our beautiful baby girl had been born, there seemed to be something going on between Badger and Machine. Both of them would look at the other longingly when the other wasn’t looking. Kade

I looked at the mother of my beautiful, healthy baby girl. She was asleep on the hospital bed, looking at peace. After a gruesome labor of 28 hours, the woman deserved the rest. She had been such a trooper through the entire thing. Proving that my woman had bigger balls than most men I knew. A knock sounded on the wooden door before Buddha peaked his head in. I narrowed my brows. “How did you get past security?” I asked him slightly. Buddha gave me a broad smile. “I look like security. Didn’t take much. Told them I was meeting my boss to take up a post outside Evelyn’s room.” I rolled my eyes fully understanding why the young receptionist would believe that to be true. He walked into the room with a bouquet made out of balloons and marshmallows. My phone vibrated with a message. When I looked at the screen it was a text from Buddha in the newly made group chat. Buddha 🧘🧘: I have made it to where the target is. Chief 🇺🇸: excellent! Let us know when we can visit. I will be in

8 Months LaterKade POV “Babe, we are going to be late!” I called out to Evelyn as I looked in the hallway mirror as I straightened my tie. Today was the grand opening of my new club, Oasis that was once called Olympus and owned by Ricci. Machine and I had worked hard making the space into an elegant yet erotic atmosphere. With a color palette of Deep Red and black with accents of crystal, we were able to achieve our goal. Never would this club be home to sex trafficking ever again. Tonight we would be showing our hard work off to our loved ones and the new elite members of the club. “Coming!” Evelyn yelled out from our bedroom. I heard her breathing heavily as she walked down the hall. She held her impressive baby bump as she walked. She looked breathtaking in a black satin floor-length gown that was tailored perfectly to her curves. Her hair was down and soft waves, which were calling me to run my hands through them. Evelyn was officially living with me in the penthouse after pu

Kade POV Evelyn began to rock her hips over my hardening length as we devoured each other. My hands roamed from her breasts, her back, and then to her delectable ass. I let out a groan as I squeezed both ass cheeks in my hands. I removed my lips from hers and began to leave open-mouthed kisses down her jaw to her throat before standing up while continuing to hold Evelyn in my arms. She squealed at the sudden movement and locked her legs around me koala-style. She ran her hands through my hair as she nipped and sucked my neck and earlobe. I could feel the heat of her core on my waist as I walked closer to the bedroom. I could feel my cock dripping already with precum. I needed to be inside her. I kicked the door behind me and placed my girl on the bed before tearing off my and her clothes in record time. I tried to slow down, but the caveman in me had a primal need that had to be fulfilled. Evelyn spread open her legs giving me the perfect view of her wet pink pussy. I yanked on he

Kade POVEVELYN 💕Amore mio: Are you home?I did a double take at my phone and questioned whether I was losing my goddamn mind. Sure as shit, Evelyn had texted me for the first time since our last intimate night together. I had just walked into my penthouse when I had received the text and had to sit down on one of the kitchen island stools to make sure I was reading her question correctly. I quickly snapped out of my shock and responded.ME: Yes, you ok?The typing bubble popped up on the phone before disappearing before reappearing again.EVELYN 💕 Amore mio: Can I come over? I need to talk to you.My heart began to pound in my chest. Play it cool, man. Don’t scare her off by coming on too strong. ME: Of course. You are always welcome here, Princess. I walked into my ensuite bathroom to make sure I looked presentable enough. I had been working from home and at the club we had just bought for the past couple of days and felt no desire to get put on a suit. I had a feeling though

Evelyn POVAlfredo weaved through my legs as I heaved my breakfast into the toilet. “For fucksake!” I grumbled. I rinsed out my mouth and sent Badger a text, asking for her to bring me some soup and saltines. She called me seconds later, talking a mile a minute.“Do you think it’s the flu?” Badger asked over the phone. We were on number five of questions to determine why I was sick.I rested my head on the back rest of the sofa and placed my cellphone on my chest with Badger on speaker. “No. I don’t have a fever or anything.” I had no energy today. In fact, I progressively had been feeling run down for the past week. Badger went silent on the other end of the phone, making me look at the screen to make sure she was still on the line. “Jess?” “Yeah I’m here. I need to ask you something but promise not to freak out?” I rolled my eyes. “We both know you are going to ask regardless.” I laughed at my joke. “That’s beside the point.” “Badge, just ask! Sheesh!” “Are you pregnant?”I s

Evelyn POVAll but Kade left my apartment. Matt apologized to Kade but also let him know that he knew about Kade’s skeletons in his closet before leaving the apartment. Kade sat on the sofa with Alfredo curled up in his arms. Seeing them together made me want to snap a picture but thought better of it. He was the one that pushed me away. “You know you are going to leave here covered in fur right?” Kade looked up at me as he continued to scratch behind one of Alfredo’s ears. “I missed this guy.” He looked back down at his furry friend. This statement took me by surprise before anger set in. “Kade, I need you to leave.”Kade looked back up at me, surprise in his expression. “What?”“You heard me.” I held the tears back that were threatening to spill from my eyes. Kade stood up with Alfredo in his arms who meowed in protest at the movement. “Evelyn,” He whispered. I extended my arms in a silent instruction for him to hand over my cat. “Don’t make this harder than it has to be Kade.

Evelyn POV“You’re lucky I’m not pressing any legal action on your ass!” Kade screamed in Matt’s face. Matt stood up and shoved Kade away from him.“Back off ‘Ghost;” He emphasized with air quotes. “I did what I had to.” Buddha clapped both his hands down on Matt’s shoulders and pushed him back down into the dining chair. “We are here to talk, Master Sergeant. No need to get physical.” Buddha stated in a calm voice. I glanced at Chief with a weary expression. This could get out of hand quickly. Matt sighed. “I needed to have Anthony’s files in a vulnerable state so I could access them.” What the fuck?“Why go through all this trouble when you could have asked him?” Machine asked as he took a sip of his beer. Matt scrubbed a hand down his face before looking at me. “You weren’t the only one who observed from the shadows, Evelyn.” My heart sank into my stomach as I remembered vividly how my mother screamed and sobbed when she found out my dad was killed. “Explain.” Chief stated w

EVELYN POV“I’ll be there as well.” Kade said with finality in his voice. “Wai-wait…N–” I stammered before getting cut off by Kade. His eyes told me not to argue with him. “What time Evelyn? This is a matter of RSS.” His voice was void of emotion. I nodded my head once with understanding. “6:30.” Kade looked back to the rest of the people in the room. “Continue.” He didn’t need to elaborate. Ollie was the next person to speak up as she took the remote from Lennie. “In this frame you can see Matthew take the thumb drive out and replace it with a plastic device that looked like a plug in for a wireless keyboard. This is the device that was meant to store data that he was looking for. From there the damage was done.” We knew the rest of the story and how I was able to fix it. I just hoped that Kade didn’t think I had anything to do with my brother’s actions. —-I went home early today not feeling well physically and mentally.
