Jenna selected the first picture in the collection of pictures. Inside the picture was a young woman dressed in a black woolen coat with a red scarf tied around her neck. She was standing in front of a majestic church covered in thick snow. Snowflakes were falling from the sky and rested on her long hair. She had her palms pressed together, praying in front of the church. Jenna scrolled to the next picture. In this one, the same young lady was running. Her coat was thrown up by the wind, and her hair fluttered freely in the air. Her face could be made out in between strands of her hair. Her eyes glittered as she smiled. Looking at these pictures, it was certainly true that both her frontal and side profile resembled Jenna even if just slightly. Carina looked at the pictures, then at Jenna before expressing, “I thought you two looked alike. Except, you are prettier than her!” “We do look a little alike.” Jenna stopped scrolling through the pictures and returned the pho
The plane arrived at Artem Airport at one o'clock in the afternoon. The CEO of the local branch showed up in person to pick up Jenna and Sam at the airport. During their drive to the main office, he gave Jenna all the relevant information concerning the project. He also offered to get Jenna something to eat before they got to work. “It’s fine. I already ate on the plane.” Jenna refused politely before going through the documents. After they arrived at the office, the CEO summoned the team in charge of the project for a meeting. It was not until six o’clock in the evening that the primary issues concerning the project were identified and properly resolved. Jenna had expected to stay in town for a day and was certainly not expecting to have taken care of things so quickly. Since it was late, Sam was worried about Jenna wearing herself out by rushing back and forth to the airport. He decided they would find a hotel and spend the night in town before returning to Hevedbur
Jenna was going to text Quinn. However, she could not find his contact on her phone. It was then she remembered she had blocked him a long time ago. Quinn had always been texted using traditional text messages instead of social media. She proceeded to remove him from her blocked list and texted him. [These actors are just ordinary people trying to make a living. Don’t you realize that? How can they build their brand if they’re shadow-banned from Twitter?] [What are you talking about?] Quinn replied. Jenna answered, [Diana White. There was a trending topic on Twitter just now about how I looked like her. Was it you who took everything down?] [It wasn’t me. I don’t pay attention to entertainment tabloids.]Jenna was convinced he was the one behind it. However, since he refused to admit it, there was no use pressing him about it. She put aside her phone and took her pajamas to the bathroom for a shower. When she stepped out of the shower, she saw another text from Quinn.
Sam was aware Quinn had come and wisely excused himself from the hotel first thing in the morning. He went back to Hevedburgh. Quinn packed Jenna’s luggage and let her sleep in. Once she woke up, they went to the hotel’s restaurant to get something to eat before heading to the airport. While waiting for the flight, he showed Jenna a text on his phone. It was a text from a government official informing Quinn about certain changes. The free trade zone that would have been implemented in Whitham had now been moved to Inksburgh instead. In other words, the high-speed rail and airport originally set to be constructed in Whitham was going to be moved to Inksburgh instead. A snide look gleamed past Jenna's eyes, “The Langhams were celebrating because they thought they managed to claim the entire honeypot. Imagine the look on their faces when they realized the honey inside had gone bad.” There was no point in Langham Corporation buying the land in Whitham and building a city
Jenna brushed past Ivy and walked away. At one point, she seemed to catch a glimpse of something sharp and gleaming poking out of the tote bag Ivy carried. She was grabbing the shoulder strap of her tote bag, ready to grab whatever was inside at any given moment. Jenna stopped when she realized what was inside Ivy’s bag. The Langhams were now on the verge of collapse. They could not afford another stream of bad news coming their way. For Jenna’s part, she did not want to allow the Langhams another chance to make a comeback. She turned around and glared sharply into Ivy’s eyes. “Ivy, Quinn isn’t a Forester anymore. Who do you think you are to address him so casually? “Next time you meet him, you better formally address him as ‘President Forester’. Otherwise, I won’t go easy on you. “The only reason you got to date him for so long and kept leeching off of him for your family’s corporation’s benefit is all because of me. Remember that!” It would be better if Jenna ha
Jacob’s expression changed the moment he heard this. He had forgotten Jenna had a special blood disorder and poor health in general, too. “Our hospital has two bags of supply of her blood type. It should be enough to last us through the operation." He instructed a nurse to head to the blood bank to collect the blood bags while he went and got changed into surgical clothes. Soon, the door to the operating room closed again. Upon hearing the doctor’s exchange with Jacob, Carina almost broke down. All the strength had been sapped out of her limbs, and she leaned weakly against the wall. Quinn tried his best to remain calm. He called Sam and told him to make sure Ivy was caught and brought to the hospital. A few minutes later, Sam informed him that he had found Ivy at the dock. She had a knife to her neck and threatened to kill herself. She was aware Jenna's life was in danger and that she was the only one who could give Jenna a blood transfusion since they had the sa
“Yeah.” Jenna confessed and pursed her ashen lips, “I noticed the knife she had hidden inside her bag and figured she was going to try to attack me but was only afraid to do it. I intentionally provoked her because I knew if she did something to me, the Langhams would never recover.” Quinn hissed sharply, “Elysian Group is already under your control. Haven’t I already told you what the right way to deal with the Langhams was? “Don't you know about your poor health? Why would you resort to such a dangerous tactic? What if she happened to stab a vital spot? You wouldn’t even be here talking to me right now!” Jenna could tell by Quinn’s tone that he was truly furious. “I know what I’m doing…” “Great. Now that you’re awake, you already have the strength to argue with me, is that it?” Quinn was so furious that he could only laugh. Then, his expression darkened again. “Jenna, you can be so selfish sometimes. You only want to do things your way and don’t care if it endangers your l
Jenna showed Sparrow Garden’s address to the driver. After most of the staff at Sparrow Garden was removed last time, the only ones left employed were the aged housemaids. When Jenna showed up, they were all astonished to see her. “M-madam.” Jenna nodded briskly in greeting before entering the house. She was then informed that Quinn had moved here about half a month ago, and he was always in a foul mood. She told them to keep her appearance a secret. She did not head downstairs until Quinn returned home for dinner late in the evening. “Quinn.” Jenna immediately approached him and said with a downcast look, “I was wrong. I should have considered my safety before doing something like that.” Quinn gave a faint response before stepping past her and heading to the dining room. Jenna seemed at a loss. She followed Quinn to the dining room and sat across from him. Whenever she tried to speak to him, he would only grunt in response and act indifferent. The housema
