“Quinn!” Jenna bent over and tried to help him up. “I said I don’t need help.” Quinn’s voice came out in a menacing hiss, and he rudely shoved Jenna’s hand away. Jenna watched as he continued grabbing at the arms of the wheelchair, struggling to pull himself up. However, his body was too heavy. Whenever it looked like he was about to pull himself up, he would topple over along with the wheelchair. Within minutes, large bruises had formed all over his arms and knees. Jenna could only imagine how difficult it must have been for him when he woke up at the hospital. He would fall over pathetically when he tried to get up. Her heart ached as she watched him clench his jaw and stubbornly try again and again. After falling nearly twenty times, he managed to climb onto the wheelchair by himself at last. Meanwhile, Jenna went to get a first aid kit. “Your legs are not crippled. It’s not like you’re going to have to sit in a wheelchair for the rest of your life, either. You
Jenna decided to get some rest now that she had set aside her work. She ended up tossing and turning on the bed without managing to fall asleep. Now and then, scenes of Quinn falling from the wheelchair would slip into her mind. She snuck into the gym and opened the door silently. She saw Quinn balancing himself on a parallel walking bar. His leg was still drained of strength, so he could hardly stand. All he could do was hold onto the bar with a death grip until his knuckles turned white. It took him several minutes just to take a single step forward. Pools of sweat formed on his forehead. She watched on. Just as it looked like Quinn was going to manage a second step, he tumbled to the floor without warning. Her first thought was to rush over to help. However, the man began groping for the bar again and pulled himself up from the floor. She continued to look on silently, a certain tightness in her chest. It would be hard for anyone to find out they could not wa
It took more than an hour for Jenna to help Quinn shower. Once she was done, she was exhausted and soaked. So, she took a shower as well and changed into a set of new dry clothes. Quinn was lying on his back on the bed. She went up to him and helped him massage his calf, slowly progressing upward. Her hands were soft and delicate. Quinn could feel the tension release in the spots she massaged over. It felt quite itchy and sensitive. At one point, he beckoned, “Sweetheart, further up.” “You sure make a lot of demands. It’s nice enough I’m giving you a massage at all,” Jenna complained while doing as she was told. Quinn grunted. It was a very low and deep grunt, and Jenna felt her ears tingling when she heard his voice. When she looked up, she noticed something peculiar and immediately moved her hands away from his legs. She cried out angrily, “You— How can you still have a reaction?” “It's not like my legs are completely crippled.” Quinn remarked in a drawl, “
“This is my niece. She came to Hevedburgh two days ago for a short trip…” The housemaid noticed her niece covering her face and who appeared to have been slapped. She hurriedly explained to Jenna, “Ma'am, this is her first time in Hevedburgh. She’s still young and this place is very foreign to her, I was going to take her to the hotel after I finish grocery shopping…” “She's young?” Jenna squinted and said aggressively, “She knows more than she lets on if you ask me. She was trying to work her tricks on my husband when you weren’t around.” The servant seemed shocked by this and turned to the girl. “Clara, was that…was that what you were doing? You better hurry up and apologize to…” “No need.” Jenna interrupted her. “Go to your room and pack up your belongings, I want both you and your niece out of here!” The housemaid’s lips quivered. She wanted to plead for mercy. However, she had been attending to Jenna long enough to understand what she was like. She would be very co
Jenna sat in the living room and called Golden Elegance to order something to eat. While ordering, she noticed Quinn entering the pantry in the wheelchair. She only glanced at him briefly before looking away. After she was done ordering dinner, she suddenly heard the sound of something smashing against the floor. The sound came from the pantry. She hurried to the pantry and saw broken shards of glass scattered all over the floor next to the wheelchair. There was also a puddle of boiling water with steam still rising from it. Quinn sat on the wheelchair and his trousers were still wet, his left arm was burned and turned red… Jenna was shocked by the sight. She hurriedly brought Quinn to the bathroom and filled the bathtub with water. After that, she turned on the shower head and sprayed it against his arms and legs. “Haven’t I told you about the arrangement of the things inside the pantry? Why did you reach for the kettle?” She could not resist the urge to tell him
“I’m only here to apply some ointment on you, why lock the door?” Jacob said frightfully, “Hey now, don’t try any funny games with me. Your wife is already getting suspicious, what if she starts overthinking?” Quinn was getting impatient. “Enough of your nonsense, just lock the door when I tell you to, alright?” Jacob went to lock the bedroom door and when he returned to the bathroom, Quinn had already stepped out of the bathtub by himself. He had a towel wrapped around his waist and was wiping his hair with another towel. Jacob was shocked by the sight of this. “Look at you go, when have you ever needed advice on getting girls from me? It seems like you’re an expert yourself!” “I only managed to start walking around a few days ago, I can only walk slowly right now.” Quinn said bluntly, “And my eyes have not recovered yet, everything I see is a blur.” Jacob chuckled. After stepping out of the bathroom, Jacob opened the medicine kit and produced a bottle of ointment fo
“What the hell?” Jacob was stunned with silence. Even the hairs on his skin stood up on its end. “You guys sure are cruel!” “If I was Ivy and found out that you were behind everything this entire time, I would have died from shock… She’s your ex-girlfriend, how did you find the heart to do something so terrible?” “Would it kill you to stop talking about this?” Quinn said gravely, “If you feel so bad for her, why don't you marry her?” “No, no, I'm afraid I don’t have the privilege.” Jacob brushed off the idea and quickly changed the subject. “Ivy’s brother was the one behind most of the parcels sent to Elysian Group last time. Now that Ivy lost her baby, he’s going to blame it on Jenna for sure. I know that Sebastian and Jacqueline also came to an agreement at Forester Corporation…” He swiped a look at Quinn and said disapprovingly, “Your wife is in hot water now, are you still going to keep feeling sorry for yourself in a wheelchair?” “What do you mean by that? My leg ha
After dinner, Jenna cleared the table and went to the bedroom to get the medicine. She took two capsules as instructed by the label and had Quinn swallow them. “Are you going to get some work done later?” Quinn asked as he firmly placed the glass on the table. “No, I’m going to get some rest.” Jenna turned on the TV, then she turned to Quinn and muttered, “What do you want to watch…” It was only halfway through her sentence when she remembered that Quinn could not see. His pupils had not turned white nor did he have a permanent squint like other blind people do. There was always the same sparkle underneath his eyes. This led to her forgetting that he was blind sometimes and forming the impression that only his legs were disabled. Quinn did not seem offended, he remarked with a look, “I want to listen to some classical music. Would you like to play something on the violin for me?” “I’ve been signing documents all day, my hands are pretty sore,” Jenna remarked faintl
