Chapter 2 She Was Framed

It was then that she remembered indistinctly—last night, after being pushed onto the bed, she was so nervous that her whole body was tightly wound. The man’s voice that entered her hearing then was very low.

“Relax a little.”

That was right…

Shawn Sadler’s voice tended to be on the stern side. It was completely different from that man!

“H-how could this be…?” Jenna looked at the photos on the bed, her face paler than even the flashes of the cameras.

Who was the man who had slept with her, then?

“Miss Radcliff, I heard you were childhood sweethearts with Shawn Sadler. Why did you betray him?”

“Was it for novelty?”

The reporters had no regard for Jenna’s state. To capture a sensational headline, they continued to press Jenna with questions, the camera flashing ruthlessly over every inch of her body and expression.

“Get out! All of you, get out!” Jenna broke down and shrieked, waving her arms in an attempt to drive away those reporters.

However, she could not drive them away.

There was even a reporter who asked, “Miss Radcliff, there are so many hickeys all over your body. Did you do it all night with that man?”

Overwhelmed by these heartless and shameless reporters, Jenna screamed and fainted.

On the other side of the road, a black Maybach was parked.

The backseat window slowly rolled down to reveal the side of a man’s cool and apathetic face. He looked toward the hotel where Shawn Sadler had just exited, surrounded by a group of reporters. His gaze became increasingly brooding.

“Shawn, please be gentle…”

The woman’s sweet and intimate cries echoed in his ears. He clenched his hand slightly. It was as if he could still feel her lingering warmth.

Shawn Sadler, the Radcliffs’ adopted son, who also appeared to be Seabright Group’s CEO…

After a moment, the man’s indifferent voice rang throughout the car. “Look into Shawn Sadler.”

“Yes, sir.”

Not even an hour later, headlines such as “Miss Radcliff’s Secret Rendezvous With a Man”, “Jenna Radcliff’s Public Affair”, and other similar titles appeared on various websites.

They had even attached videos of Mr. Sadler catching her in the act and of Jenna’s partially exposed body, which caused an uproar online.

Due to their eldest daughter’s indiscretion, the Radcliff family company Seabright Group’s stocks plummeted, almost into the negatives.

With her aide’s help, Jenna returned home in humiliation.

Her handphone number had been exposed online and was blowing up by countless calls. Her phone crashed as a result and was completely unusable. So, she borrowed the aide’s phone number to try and call Shawn, wanting to explain.

However, Shawn Sadler did not pick up a single one of them.

Jenna soaked herself in the bathtub full of cold water to try and desperately scrub her body clean. Even after she had scrubbed herself raw, she could still smell the scent left by the man from last night.

At the thought of Shawn’s frigid gaze when he left, Jenna felt so much despair that she wanted to cry.

Why had things turned out this way?

After who knows how long, the phone left on a shelf at the side rang, and Jenna scrambled to pick it up in a fluster.

“Honey…”

“Come to the Civil Affairs Bureau now!” Shawn hung up as soon as he finished saying that.

Only then did Jenna realize she had been soaking in the bathtub the whole night, and her body was now incredibly pale.

Stumblingly, she got up from the bathtub, picked out clothes from her wardrobe, and got dressed. On the way to the Civil Affairs Bureau, she applied some foundation to cover her haggard pallor.

When she saw Shawn, she had to explain it to him thoroughly. She could not let Shawn divorce her!

Once Jenna got to the Hevedbrugh Civil Affairs Bureau, she immediately spotted Shawn Sadler standing at the entrance in a black suit and a flinty expression.

There seemed to be no reporters in the area, probably due to him having made arrangements beforehand.

“Honey, listen to me!” Jenna ran over to grab Shawn’s hand, her eyes red. “Last night, I received a text message saying you were at the Orchid Pavilion Hotel with another woman. Your phone’s GPS was fixed there too. That was why I went!”

Shawn immediately took out his phone and showed her his itinerary from last night, his gaze cold. “I only saw my client off at the hotel last night. I left within ten minutes!”

Jenna looked at his itinerary before staggering, almost falling over.

Could someone have set her up last night?
