The past few days had been cold.

That was both sad and intriguing.

The Jace's is like an uncharted territory to her. Mahirap itong hulihin, mahirap pasukin, at mas mahirap namang maintindihan. She doesn't want to be in his bad side, but then, pero wala rin naman siyang kaide-ideya kung paano ba mapunta sa good side ng binata.

That was already the ninth day, kaya ganoon nalang ang nerbyos ni Kimberly nang tarantang basahin niya ang mensahe nito.

Sabi ni Chester:

.

.

From: Mangino C

To: me

Amore on Saturday?

.

.

That was a very short message, pero sapat ang naging impact niyon sa kanya. She needed to find a dress and it's a blessing that she owns a boutique.

A red body hugging dress for her and Chester's first ever date. Perpektong-perpekto 'yon sa manipis na makeup na nilagay niya sa kanyang mukha— what else could go wrong?

"Do you like the place?"

The restaurant and the food he chose for them were superb, pero kakatwang hindi niya malasahan ang kanyang kinakain.

"I was searching for a good place to take you in when someone suggested this restaurant." Tumikhim ito bago uminom ulit ng wine. "I really have no clue about what you will like. Buti nalang ay may bumaggit nitong restaurant—."

"The place is perfect." He was barely looking at her while speaking.

"Well, whoever suggested this place sure hits a spot." Only a few people knows how much she likes paper lanterns. Nakakatuwa naman.

"Ang ganda."

"Si Jace ang nag-suggest ng lugar. The building was one of his projects some time ago."

"Ha?" Take note, sa first date nila.

Still in disbelief she mouthed, "You're kidding..."

"No, I'm not."

He looks distant. He seems to be thinking of something else.

'This is not right...'

She saw Chester put his wine glass down and look at her.

It took her four seconds to get her wits back. "We need to. I mean... Here we are. Nagsisimula na tayong mag-date. We should—"

"I said, let's not talk about it. "

Here she is, dating her dream man, looking forward to ironing the creases in their past, pero ayaw nitong pakinggan ang paliwanag niya— something is just not adding up.

"To a new beginning, Kimberly."

He was asking for a toast.

"To a new beginning," gagad niya pa sa sinabi nito bago tinungga ang hawak. She knew that good wines are supposed to be enjoyed. However, she was already at the brink of crying too and anything that could wet her aching throat would be a blessing.

"Do you mind if I leave you for a second?"

She blinked her eyes in confusion when he gestured his hand to the door.

Silently, she poured herself another glass of wine and sipped.

Is Chester going to bring her flowers? She couldn't tell.

Five Christmases, New Years, birthdays, and Valentines had come and go, pero ni minsan ay hindi siya naisip regaluhan nito. It was always her who tried to please him with presents.

She started retouching her lipstick, hoping to look her best for him.

"I'm back."

He didn't bring her the flowers she was hoping for.

Then ever so quickly, he stepped away again, na para bang ayaw nitong magtagal sa tabi niya.

The tension surrounding them was getting thick with every second that passes.

Another minute of not knowing what's inside the box would kill her.

"A-anong ibig sabihin nito?"

"I got this feeling that I need to return those, Kimberly," simula ni Chester sa napaka babang boses. I'm so sorry. You'll find someone better."

Then that was it. He dropped the bomb on her face, and she sure got hit hard.

"Wow..." she managed to say. She was so shock about the turn of events na kahit gusto niyang magmakaawa sa harapan nito, ang sumunod na lang niyang nasabi ay...

"C-congratulations, Chester.

I-I'm... happy for you."

"HOW DID she take it?" Jace lit his cigar at the same time as Chester came into their room. He had been wide awake since his brother went out. It was already two in the morning, may pasok pa siya mamaya pero talagang hindi lang siya dalawin ng antok. Something was bothering him. He was the one who advised his brother to admit the situation to the girl as early as now. He even told Chester to return everything she gave him. At ngayon nga, he was also the one feeling guilty to the bone dahil alam, niyang masasaktan ito sa mga pinayo niya. She'd been loving his brother for freakin' five years after all. "Lighter than I thought." He blew out his smoke. He found that answer stressing. Kimberly, taking that turn down message light was really not what he expected. Something was hëll not right."You can't be serious." 'WHAT PART of no is hard to understand?' "Toast! Para sa mga aanga-aangang girls!" She laughed bitterly while raising the bottle of Margarita in her hand. With the party happening some valid meters away and the Mangino's parking lot being as empty as her broken heart, wala naman sigurong sasaway sa kanya sa ginagawang kagagahan at pagsasalita mag-isa. "Damn!

"KIM, give me the keys. I'm taking you ---shit!" Kimberly smiled when she heard the door open. She purred, trying her best to lift her drunk self to sat. With just the light from her phone giving her skin that beautiful glow and the hem of red gown now rolled around her waist, ramdam na ramdam niya ang pagkapahiya sa sitwasyon. 'This is it, Kimberly. You have to do this'. It took her a lot of guts, not to mention a bottle of Margarita, to come up with this plan. This was nothing but a craz

KIMBERLY WOKE up with the most uncomfortable headache. The need to bang her head against something was rising from her skull. Her body felt heavy and her warm bed was just too inviting to resist. Her eyes opened in shock.

"WHAT THE EFF, Baby--" "Get dressed!" ‘Panty! Don't cause me delays!’ She dove and mindlessly yanked it with only one goal inside her mind, which was to cover her swollen femininity from Jace . "Baby, you have the sexiest ass I laid my eyes on. Can I take you from behind--" "Tanggalin mo nga 'yang tingin mo sa likuran ko." Kimberly felt her cheeks turn hot with that blatant statement. It was just then that she realized how th

"SAY IT." Kimberly felt her knees buckled when his minty breath touched her face. Not having to see this man for three months then suddenly finding herself standing before him again, made her toes curl. "I-I love you, Jace." "One more." She inhaled deep and his manly scent made her a bit tipsy. Just like a drop of wine straight to her brain. "I-I love you." "I want your eyes on me while you're saying it." "Say it, Baby." "I-I love... HAPPY WEDDING day, Baby." Kimberly felt her knees go weak with how murderously soft Jace was kissing her. He lightly bit her lower lips and then run his tongue on it. The world suddenly felt like swirling beneath her feet. "Close your eyes and kiss back." "Damn it." "I know that you don't want this. I don't fuck*ng want this either. Jace watched the smoke he puffed vanish in the dark. What a wrong move though, because aside from the cold and hollow parking area before him, napadako ang paningin niya sa kapehong lugar kung saan sila nagkaaway -or rather, nag-make-out ni Kimberly kanina. "What have you done to yourself?" He breathed deep to calm himself. Kimberly's effect on him was maddening. Her soft breast inside his mouth was carving tattoos on his tongue making every second torturous. He craved her. It had been a while. Hours and hours of searching. Days and nights of visiting different hospitals and morgues in hopes of finding the man she needs to rescue. And yet, here comes the moment, and there she was... standing stiff beside the hospital bed where Chester was laying weak, pale, and half dead. ‘Jusko... Chester--’ "Umh...nurse?" She felt her face froze under the surgical mask when her eyes met a pair of confused hazel eyes looking back at her.
