"Bend your knees a little more. Yes, like that!"
Physical Education class was ongoing, and I was one of the students in the gym learning and playing Volleyball for grades.
"Camila, your turn. Step forward and face the net."
I followed the coach's instructions. I went in front of the net, bent my knees, and when the ball was thrown at me, I hit it on-point within the enemy's court enough to gain a score.
"That's right. Very good. Next!"
I stepped back and let my other classmates do their turns of tries, too.
After some warm-up, our coach let us practice and do some friendly plays court to court. She excused herself and said she had to attend to some urgency in the office, so she left us for a while, and we used our time to play.
I belonged to a team, and we were eager to score every now and then against the opponent's court.
Took my turn to be my team's server, I positioned myself to the server's point, ready to give it a hit, when suddenly my attention was drawn to where some of my classmates were looking at.
Trey and his cousin, Jude, seemed to have just arrived in this indoor gym, and they sat on the bleacher to watch.
Girls who were on the bleachers were smiling and greeting them. Jude seemed to be having fun and loved the attention, smiling ear to ear to every girl and would even wave at them, which would make him seem cuter and would make these ladies blush, while Trey seemed not to give a f*ck. The latter would only nod at them, but his eyes were focused over here. Or I must say, his eyes were directed to me…
I noticed how Kelsey gently elbowed her best friend Jacque as the former pointed using her chin gesture the Gregoris to the latter, and both girls smiled and blushed.
When I say Jacque and Kelsey, I mean the two bully b*tches. Jacque was who I was talking about as fond of crop tops, and Kelsey was her ever-supportive friend. Great tandem, indeed.
The whistle blew, and it was an indication that everybody should get back to focus on the game. As the server, I hit the ball in the air and let it fly to the opposite court. First hit, and we scored because it landed within the line of the opposite court. I took a second hit, and the enemy once again failed to hit it when the ball slipped at the player's arm, and she was not able to hit it back to our court. Third hit, and finally, they were able to bounce back the ball, and the real exciting game started as to who would score this time around.
The enemy got it, but it was alright. Our score was already a few times ahead of theirs, but still, we couldn't take it simply because the enemy seemed to be playing so well at it, too.
We won the first set and agreed to take a water break for five minutes before we changed courts.
I was sipping from my tumbler when someone suddenly threw a ball at me, knocking the drink out of my hand and forcing me to gag on the water in my nose and throat. It fell to the floor, soaking both it and my blouse. Many times I had to hit my palm on my chest to stop myself from gagging and choking.
"Camila! You alright?" My teammates concernedly ran to me to check and make sure I was alright.
Another one was even gently tapping my back so it could help me feel better.
I nodded at them and helped compose myself.
The one who came to my rescue angrily faced Jacque. "Why did you do that, Jacque?! Are you trying to kill Camila?"
"No," Jacque answered, remaining unbothered and even mockingly grinning. "It was her fault she was standing in that area. I was only practicing with the ball, and it hit her."
"I can't believe you're blaming her for your own fault instead of apologizing!"
"Why would I apologize? It's not my fault!"
My teammate was about to say another thing to continue arguing and proving her point that Jacque should apologize to me, but I held her arm and shook my head to gesture to her no need and that I was alright.
She was hesitant and was about to continue fighting for what she stood right but was immediately alarmed as soon as she noticed something on me. "My goodness, Camila, your nose is bleeding!"
"Yeah! We should take you to the Clinic!" followed by another who cared for me.
My other teammates started to walk toward me, too, and check.
I remained calm and didn't show any hint of panic. Even when I touched my nose and found blood in my hand afterward, it didn't alarm me that much.
"I'm alright. I just need to wash up," I said.
"But—"
"I'll be alright," I assured them more. "I'll be back, and the game must continue."
I walked and took a step out of the gym to go to the nearest sink where I could wash my face.
"You want us to accompany you, Camila?" Still concerned, they asked me.
I only raised my palm and shook it to gesture, 'No need, and I can do it myself.'
I could hear them sigh helplessly, but they did nothing. My intention was not to cause any inconvenience. Just knowing that they cared made me feel better than if they had shown little concern at all.
I washed on the faucet, and this made me feel a little better.
Soon as I turned off the water, I felt a hand holding a handkerchief gently wiping the water on my face.
As I looked at who it was, I couldn't believe it was none other than Trey Gregori!
"Trey! What are you doing here? You followed me?" I asked, totally puzzled.
Like, why would he even care or give a d*mn, right?
Yes, he was probably at the gym when the ball smacked me hard in the face, but I didn't expect him to rush over to see how I was doing or to give me a handkerchief. Who am I that he should worry about me?
Instead of answering my question, he continued to wipe the water on my face until it got drier.
I gently pushed away his hand to stop him from what he was doing, and then I looked away. I knew he was staring at me the whole time.
"No need for that. I have my own handkerchief," I said coldly and took my own handkerchief from the small pocket of the sports shorts I was wearing.
I walked past him, and he didn't move. I could still feel his eyes following me while I was walking away. I didn't turn my back anymore. I have no reason to, have I?
When I was back at the gym, the first thing I saw was Jacque and Kelsey sitting on the bleachers and holding their phones and laughing as if they didn't do anything bad to me.
Without any word, I never hesitated to pick up the ball I saw near where I was standing, and then I went straightly to where the two b*tches were and threw it forcefully, too, directly to Jacque's face. And that made her scream in extreme annoyance and also pain. I just reciprocated what she did to me, and yeah, it felt just as satisfying!
Our classmates and everybody in the gym were stunned for a moment. Yes, we had their attention once more! And I didn't mind it.
Jacque cried, and a few from her team walked to her to comfort her.
"How dare you do this to me, b*tch?!"
I remained calm, cold, and unbothered. "It was you who started it, Jacque, remember? I just reciprocated the treatment you showed me. If I were able to let it pass the first time you embarrass me publicly, well, let me tell you, not the second time around, hunny. I wouldn't remain quiet in the corner while you're clearly stepping into my feet."
Angry for her dear friend, Kelsey aggressively walked to me and attempted to slap me, but I didn't let her filthy hand land on my cheek. I held it so strongly she couldn't even move.
I fiercely dug my eyes against hers. "What, Kelsey? You try to hit me, and I will not let you get away with it. I'm not warning you, dear. I'm just saying. Lay even a single finger on my face, and I'll make sure you're going to regret it, especially in front of everybody."
I freed her hand uncaringly, and she almost gasped as she touched it to see that my fingers almost dug into her skin because of my strong force brought by my already tired patience for her and her bullsh*t friend. All I felt was the rage to make them realize they couldn't just bully me anytime they wanted to!
As I continued walking to the bleacher where my bag was, my teammates, especially the genuinely concerned ones, proudly smiled and gave their hands to me for a high five. They must be surprised I could actually give back what was given to me!
"Camila Valdemore, you'll be paired with Trey Gregori for this activity."I almost wanted to retaliate as the professor announced in front of the class who would be my partner for today's microscopic observation activity in Biology. She was announcing the pairs she randomly picked. And I couldn't believe that of all the people inside the classroom, I would be paired with Trey Gregori—someone that, as much as possible, I avoid having encounters with. Now, we are even going to be partners for the sake of score!I wanted to stand up and speak out, to ask if I could possibly change a partner, but then I remained glued in my seat, and my mouth was zipped. All I could do was glance at Trey, who was sitting at my back, only to see his serious eyes while listening to our teacher shift to me as soon as he felt I was looking at him.Gently shrugging my shoulder, I composed myself in my seat and focused again on our professor's instructions regarding the activity. Not too long later, we were alr
"Trey! What are you doing here?!" I asked almost hysterically. He lazily cocked his head to the side. "Shouldn't I be the one asking you that? What are you doing here?"I turned my back to look at him. The view of his gorgeous topless body was distracting me, so I tried not to look at it.I frowned at the question he spitted back to me. In return, he looked at the wall sign to point it to me. I followed his gaze and was shocked to have found I was actually inside the men's washroom! What the f*ck?!"See? It's clearly a men's area. So, what are you doing here when in fact, you shouldn't be here in the first place?"Feeling embarrassed, I bit my lower lip and bowed my head."I wasn’t aware that I actually entered the men's area. I wasn't watching. I was in a hurry, so I didn't see the sign."No matter how I tried to look away from the beautiful view in front of me, my eyes seemed to betray me because they wanted to take glances at those beautiful abs and perfectly toned chest.I could e
Based on the most popular search engine on the internet, as I typed Trey Gregori's name, there were only minimal sources for articles about the Gregoris. They are very rich, and nothing’s really so surprising about that. Their clan and name are known to be one of the giants in the line of veterinary supplies. They own a company that operates the production of pet and animal supplies for grooming and veterinary meds. Most of the vet clinics today trust their brand as the leading supplier for animal petting products. Not to mention, Gregoris also do have their own well-known vet clinics with almost seventeen branches anywhere in the country, having been able to gain numerous positive feedbacks from their loyal clients all through these years.Aside from the owner and founder's name on the internet, Treyton Gregori was mentioned as the only son and heir of their family's businesses. He is a cousin of Rain Gregori and Barbara Gregori, whose parents are also owners of huge veterinary phar
"Camila? Hey, Camila!"I didn't realize Barbara was already sitting at the chair in front of me until she was chuckling and waved her hand in front of my eyes to get my attention."Barbara!""Yeah. I've been calling you since I arrived here, but you seemed not to notice me because you're staring at someone…" Her voice was a little teasing.I looked away in a bit of embarrassment. Oh, she must be thinking I was into her cousin that's why I was staring at Trey. But that wasn't really the case. I couldn't simply tell her."I didn't notice you were already here. I thought you and your other two cousins wouldn't be around in the canteen today for lunch. I only saw Trey and Rain on the table," I told her."Ah, we were just a little late because I, Jude, and Abigail needed to run for an errand. But as you see, we're back now."I looked at Trey's table once again and saw that, yeah, Jude and Abigail were there and sat."How about you? Wouldn't you like to sit next to your cousins?"She nicely
I couldn't believe he had caught me!The more I tried to fight him, the more he would hold me tight I couldn't be freed!"Why are you here? What do you think you're doing? You think I would not know you're following me?!" Trey asked, using a low, dangerous voice.Despite his palm covering my mouth, I made a noise as much as I could, so he finally released me free. But still, his other hand was holding my shoulder firmly, keeping me remained leaning against the wall."Now, tell me, what are you doing, Camila?" he repeated himself. No matter how I tried to grasp some words in my mind for defense, I couldn't really seem to find any excuse that would make him believe it wasn't him I was following! So, I decided to instead resort to retaliating. "And how sure are you that it's you I'm following?! Didn't you even think twice that maybe it was only a coincidence that I came into this place and you were in this place, too?! I didn't even know you were here!"I tried my very best to sound toug
"What are you going to do, Trey! I'm warning you not to do anything stupid or you're going to regret it for the rest of your life!"But he turned a blind eye to me and continued with his actions.I was even more afraid as he completely removed his polo, leaving his body totally topless in front of me! And then he started unbuckling the belt of his pants, too!Panicking, I helped myself get up from the bed and run but as soon as he got rid of his belt, he immediately blocked my way to no escape and he held my wrist firmly."Where do you think you're going? You think I'll let you get away with it? Remember, you started this, Camila, and I'm just giving you the proof that you want! You want to prove if your ex-lover and I are the same? Then I'm gonna prove to you that I am not that idiot who left you this miserable and lonely for years—"My palm successfully landed in his face this time. My body was even shaking in pure anger. He just called Noah an idiot when he was never even able meet
I hesitated at first but I found myself nodding."About what, Rain?" I asked him.Yes, it was Rain. Trey's cousin. And it was, I guessed, the first time he'd ever bothered himself to go and talk to me."About the upcoming Science Fair of the school. Were you aware of it?""Science Fair?" Oh, yeah! I just realized that the activity is about to be held next month per school's calendar of events."Since you weren't around in the class earlier. You may not be informed that the teacher had already assigned tasks and groups. And this will be graded in the finals.""Oh!"As I could remember, traditionally, Science-related field students were grouped and assigned tasks to make the event exciting, fun, and successful where everybody could learn something about Sciences and Health."The groupings were made into trios and you would be joining me and Abigail.""Abigail?" I clarified. And that was the only time I realized that Abi was actually just standing at the back of her cousin and crossing h
"Pass your assignments forward," the professor instructed.Since I was absent for two days, I had nothing to pass. Still, I was responsible for getting the paper of my classmate sitting at my back to relay them forward until they reached the teacher's hand.Without saying anything, when Trey passed his paper to me since he was sitting at my back, I accepted it without a word, too, and I even avoided looking at him. If only I had a choice, I wouldn't want any interaction with him. But I didn't have, and it was my responsibility to get his paper and pass it forward because his seat was behind me.I could almost thank the heavens that I survived the whole period without having to talk to him or to even meet eyes with him. I, or should I say both of us, pretended to be back to zero, as if we never knew each other and being complete strangers to each one.Gratefully, weekend came and I finally had a break from the stressful and exhausting school works.I went on a jog early in the morning.
SIX MONTHS LATER... "Long live the newlyweds!" "Best wishes!" Everyone cheered and applauded after Trey and I were declared husband and wife. He lifted my veil to kiss me and I responded eagerly as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Everybody was happy for the both of us and they wished us a healthier and abundant marriage, most especially the Gregoris—Trey's parents, cousins, and even his brother, Noah. "Congratulations, lovebirds! Remember our deal? You're going to spend the rest of your lives making each other happy every single day, okay?" He reminded us. Both Trey and I nodded sincerely. Above everyone in the celebration hall, the two of us were the happiest ones. Genuinely happy that finally we were able to turn our dreams into reality. He tapped Trey's shoulder and they gave each other a warm brotherly hug. "Thank you so much, Noah. Thank you for understanding and thanks for giving way for our true happiness," I said from the bottom of my heart. And for the last time,
Noah brought a chair, placed it beside me, and sat on it. He was also looking after his brother."There wasn't any single time that I could remember I had been a good brother or at least treated him in a kind way…" he spoke, breaking the silence between us.I looked at him, and then he continued, "But you know what's ironic? That was despite me obviously despising my own brother, he has always been there for me. He was saving me, protecting me. Even before, since we were young and I wasn't yet aware of his existence, of my real identity, he was already helping me in silence. He always got my back, and though he wasn't getting anything in return, he was always willing to do something for me because he always wanted to see his brother being so well.”I knew it. I have really fallen crazy in love with an absolutely selfless man!"You know what, since then, he's really been there and always ready to save my life from harm or any danger. He never leaves me... Even if his own life would be
(Camila's POV)Walking back and forth to the wide ground of the residences of the Gregoris, my heart seemed to uncalm from its fast and hard pounding because I'd been waiting for Trey's troops to come back from the battlefield, where they had to fight to get Barbara after she was abducted.I couldn't take it easy. I could not even calm down. I felt bothered and scared that something might happen, especially to Trey and to Noah. Yes, both of them went there. As the ruler, Trey led the troops, while Noah insisted on coming with them because he also felt responsible for saving his family member.Seconds later, a siren on the whole building created a loud noise, indicating that the troops had already returned, and they were successful in getting Barbara back! The main gate opened and the first voice I heard, aside from the noises of the feet of the troop members running and hurrying, was Abigail's screaming and crying, "Trey is badly wounded! Trey is badly wounded, everybody!"My world sa
(Camila's POV)Noah and I went home after that long and draining double engagement night."Good night, Noah," I told him and was about to go to my room when he called me in a low, deep voice."Camila…""Hmmn—" I turned around to look at him, but I was surprised when he pulled my hand and brought me very close to his body.He held my waist tightly, and his eyes screamed desperation, hunger, longing, and sadness…"Noah, what are you doing—" I was cut to my words when he claimed my lips."Noah!" I tried pushing him gently on his chest, but when I felt like it was to no avail because he wouldn't let me go, I stopped, and instead, I just responded to his kisses. It was a responsibility of mine, wasn't it? He's my boyfriend, and he's kissing me, therefore, it's my responsibility to return his kisses. I responded to it as I should, as I obliged. He only freed my lips when he stopped, but his face remained very close to mine. He brought our foreheads touched. His breathing was deep, and the l
(Trey's POV)I could just watch her from afar… She was walking out of the hall and walking away from everybody, from where I stood…"Congratulations on your engagement," one of the seniors in the pack went to the table where my fiancée—Beth—and I were standing. We smiled at him and nodded and thanked him, then we granted his invitation for a toast. He proceeded to talk and have fun with other guests and invitees, and the cycle just went on and on every time anybody would approach to congratulate us and have a toast. We would smile at them, thank them, and toast our drinks."Trey, Beth, you really look great together. We wish nothing but abundance in your upcoming wedding," dad said happily when he went to us.Beside him and clinging to his arm was mom, who was also smiling happily upon nearing to us."Thanks, mom and dad."They both gave me a hug.And that's what Beth did, too. She greeted them, giving respect to elders, as well as her being their future daughter-in-law."I'm really g
I saw Trey from the glass door stopping and taking a look at me for the last time. He saw me and Noah hugging. I could see the hurt in his eyes, and yet he chose to shrug it off and totally went away.I knew that starting with this, I had lost him forever. He walked out of my life…After our hug, Noah cupped my face and almost endlessly thanked me for not leaving him, and for choosing him instead of Trey."I'm sorry, my love. I couldn't help it. I'm so happy and delighted that it's really still me that's in your heart even after all these years!"I simply forced a smile though it was hard to do so because my heart just honestly felt so heavy at the moment. To be frank, I chose him for a reason even though I knew within me who really my heart wanted. But I disregarded the thought. I'm happy that Noah is back and he's alive, and now we'll be able to continue what we thought we had lost several years back. I should just focus on that and give Noah my full attention and love because I alr
(Camila's POV)"How have you been, Camila?" Trey asked with a low broken voice when we agreed to meet one day to finally talk about us."I'm doing fine. How have you been, too?" I asked back while not looking at him. It's been a week since the big revelation came, and yet I'm still, even up to this day, affected by what I just have discovered. I guessed everybody still is.He smiled a little and nodded. "I'm alright. I'm glad you asked."I finally looked at him. "What are you going to tell me, Trey? I need all the truth, please."He sighed a bit heavily and nodded his head. "Okay. I'm telling the whole story to you…"He started from the first time he knew he actually had a brother and Noah was sent away from home to grow up and be trained to be independent and strong in all challenges of life, how Trey played being the shadow and guide and protector of the crown son and the supposed Alpha of their clan."During that afternoon when the tragedy happened, I was also there, Camila. I saw
After that reckless move I made, I never dared to do it again anymore or do something like that. I backed myself off, especially from their relationship. I could not possibly do anything to ruin them and mess up the plan.I just continued to watch over my brother as per my seemed-to-be lifelong task and assignment to my family. I didn't dare anymore to get close or approach Camila again just like I did that day. And I learned to move on my own. I should respect their relationship given the fact that Noah is my brother and he is about to become the Alpha and ruler of the pack while Camila is to become his Luna and wife.I tried forgetting my feelings for my brother's girlfriend and though it was hard because my own heart seemed to betray me at all time, I still fought it and instilled in my mind that I should really leave them alone because it's obvious that the two of them are the ones meant for each other. I am just a guardian and witness of their love.I also taught myself that I sh
One time, it was so reckless of me to have found my feet directing to where exactly Camila was sitting. She was at one of the tables inside a restaurant in a mall, and she was waiting for Noah because, basically, they agreed to have a date that day.I also wanted to feel and experience what it would be like if I stood next to her if I ever talked to her, and she would speak to me. I just really wanted to be in my brother's shoes, even for a little while, especially regarding his relationship with his girlfriend.Soon as she saw me at the restaurant door, she called my name… Noah's name, to be exact, because she was waiting for him and she or they—both her and my brother—didn't even know my existence…"Noah!" She waved at me happily and excitedly. My heart jumped. It felt like my world had suddenly stopped, and I could only see the two of us. I wasn't even able to move my feet! She stood up, waved at me, and ran to me. I was taken aback, and my feet turned to jelly as she hugged me.D*
