"You're getting married?" He raised his brows at her, and Gemma swallowed.

"Oh," she could say.

"Gemma? Is that a lie? Huh? Tell me it's a lie" He leaned forward, and Gemma reclined.

And staring at him, she could see his eyes full of disdain and fear, just like she had felt a year ago. He stared at her and back at her fingers at the table. She could say yes, or she could pity him and say no, or she could deceive me like he did to her, a thousand thoughts ran through her head.
