CHAPTER TWO

I breathed in and out as I stared at the new club that had opened in town. News about it has been that they were looking for people to work no matter their criteria or education.

If I truly wanted to be independent, this looked like a good start especially since I was widowed and single.

I sat nervously in the manager's office as he smoked his cigarette while making a phone call. When he was done, he dropped his phone and faced me.

"So any special skills?" He asked as he huffed out smoke, his eyes hooded and at me.

"Well I'm a dedicated hardwoker and I'm very good at multitasking. If you hire me, I assure you sir that I won't let you down." I said as I looked into his eyes full of a burning determination as he chuckled.

"I was talking with the boss and he said I should hire you. You can work as a waiter for now and if you are really as good as you say you are, I am sure you'll get a decent promotion."

"Thank you so much sir!" 

"Don't thank me, thank the boss." He said with a light laugh as smoke escaped from his nose.

"When can I start working?" I asked timidly, the excitement of my first ever paying job in America tripped my heart as I steadied my breathing.

"Tomorrow night. There's a uniform for you, you just select the size range you fall under." He said as I nodded with a smiled on my face and stood up, giving a respectful bow even though Americans were more of physical contact people before I left.

I couldn't tell Edith that I got a job at a club because God knows how much she hates those places and since I'm a submissive omega, it triples the reason why.

"Mom I'm home!" I shouted as I wore my flip flops into the house, leaving my shoes at the door. 

My eyes went to the time and I discovered it was still too early for Edith to be back from wherever she usually went in the day time. I picked up my phone and dialed her.

"Hello mom, how are you?" I asked as I went to the fridge, taking out a small cup of pudding to eat.

"I'm good. Any problem?" She asked.

"No. I came home early so I'm going to Ren from the daycare early so I'm going to Ren from the daycare center, don't bother yourself." 

"Really? Are you sure I'm not to worry?"

"A hundred percent. You've been telling me to take it easy." I said as I started eating the pudding with a content moan.

"Well yes but that's okay. I even have to do a little grocery shopping. Have fun with your boy." She said before she cut the call and I dropped my phone to enjoy myself the chocolate pudding.

I sat at the bench in the lobby with a few parents who seemed to be minding themselves but I knew they weren't.

I said nothing and talked to no one but I could feel judgmental and lustful eyes on me from different parents.

I wasn't bothered by it since I was used to being called the widowed slut of the neighborhood because I was an omega W. Sadly, that was because of a day I had my heat that was beyond suppressants control and luckily, nothing happened to me.

"Mommy?" I heard my baby boy's voice call out as my eyes slowly trailed to him. He was surprised and with a squeal he ran into my arms.

"Mommy! Pretty mommy!" He shouted as I lifted him up and kissed his flushed cheeks as he kissed my nose and forehead in response.

I collected his stuff from one of the teachers as he played with my hair that I had tied into a loose ponytail with a few stray strands around my face.

I didn't waste time with the staff as I carried Ren away.

"Want to go out with mommy?" I asked.

"Yes. Chiben nubbit." He babbled referring to chicken nuggets for lunch.

"Okay but you have to promise me you'll eat your vegetables."

"No! Not that mommy."

"Then I guess no nuggets." I said as he whined but then he hugged my neck as he started begging me and who was I to refuse.

We ate out in MacDonald as Ren messed himself because he was eating. It was cute how he always stained his fingers and cheeks then had me wipe him clean.

He started telling me about his day and his friends. They coloured pictures and he made a picture of the sun and all his friends said it was beautiful.

He also complained about a boy in his class, an American Japanese too who is biracial with dark skin that always bullied him.

It wasn't fierce or something to worry about because from his story, the boy does things to bring Ren's attention to him that I couldn't help but tease my boy that his classmate, Natsu likes him.

"Natsu is mwean! And so uncute." He complained as he huffed his chubby cheeks that I couldn't help but play with it and imagine biting it softly.

I took him to the park and we had fun. When it was late, I decided it was time to go home.

Edith wasn't home so I handled cooking dinner.

Edith came home when I was done, it was nice to eat dinner as a family as we talked.

"Ren is finally sleeping." I said as Edith had a hot cup of milk in her hand. I sat beside her as I played with my fingers.

"I got a job in a club." I confessed deciding to be honest.

"What? A club? You know working in a club isn't safe. What if, what if you enter heat or your boss is in the mafia or some alpha harasses you?" She questioned with a great look of concern.

"I'll be okay. They have a good security system and I'm not doing much except serving drinks and food. Also, I always carry my suppressants with me." I stated as I took out the card of suppressant and waved at her.

"But still..."

"You trust me right?" I asked and she nodded softly, "Then trust that I can handle this. This is my first job and I can't continue to depend on you or the money Jon left. You're retired and we have demands, I have a kid that will need things as he grows. I need to have a stable source of income, not just to satisfy me and my pride but for you and my son's future."

She bit her lips but all her doubts were quenched by my determination to keep the job. 

"I can't stop you but the moment you feel uncomfortable, it ends. Okay?"

"Yes ma'am. Goodnight." I greeted as I stood up, heading to my room knowing she wasn't sleeping anytime soon.

"Goodnight."

I felt nervous even though I've been working here for two weeks.

The club was packed with so many people of different genders as the scent of arousal, alcohol, sex and sweat clouded my nose I almost puked.

Two hours of working and I'm already exhausted. How the hell do people survive a full night here?

The club wasn't a regular cheap bar anyone could enter, dance, drink and leave. It was more than that.

They were arranged in sections where the lower section was for regular members and the upper section was for selected successful, rich, influential or accomplished people. It wasn't just anyone that was allowed to work there.

"Hey Sora!" My senior staff shouted as I quickly walked over as I adjusted my uniform.

Our uniform was a simple white shirt and black long pants with a black vest along with a tie if you pleased.

I never wore the tie and footwear was your choice so I always wore sandals.

"Yes sir?" I asked the beta as he adjusted his glasses.

"You are needed upstairs. Alice couldn't make it today." He instructed as I blinked in disbelief.

"Upstairs? Me? Are you sure you don't want the others because I've only been here for two weeks and I don't have the ranking for that." I explained but he didn't look at me.

"Chairman's order. Don't question and move on. If you're good, they'll give you a raise." He stated and walked away.

I felt uneasy going up there but I could definitely get a raise. I went to the back and was given the order and the room it was to be delivered to.

I took things slowly as I entered the elevator before stopping on the floor then in front of the room.

I knocked softly till I heard a noise for me to come in.

"Sorry sir to disturb you." I said politely with a bow as I dropped the cart and looked at the stranger.

He was an old man probably in his early sixties, drunk with two ladies beside him. He was an alpha from his scent and that made me cringe as I slowly escaped.

"Wait!" The old man said as I paused when I was about to leave the room, looking at him.

"You're an omega?" He asked as I nodded. "Which category?" 

"Omega W. Is there anything wrong sir?" I asked in hopes he didn't hate omegas.

"Leave us." He commanded as the two beta ladies got up, their smile dropping as they glared at me in hate and probably envy.

I was feeling insecure and unsafe being here with an alpha who was definitely unmated.

I had my hand to the door in case if he was going to try any funny business while I maintained a steady eye contact with him.

"Come sit beside me." He requested as he tapped his left.

"Thank you sir but I prefer standing." I said and I watched his brows furl in annoyance.

"Well I want you to sit because I pay for the services here. I'm sure you wouldn't want me angry because just one phone call and I could ruin your life. I'm sure you have people you wouldn't want getting hurt."

I kept silent as I stared at him but did nothing as I slowly walked to his left and took a seat.

I maintained a great distance between us and took the bottle of wine when he pointed at me to serve him.

He started to talk about his life, his frustrations and secrets like I was some secret lover till he was flushed red with drunkness.

"Are you bonded?" He asked as he moved closer to me, his arms wrapping around my waist as I stiffened.

"Yes." I lied as I tried to get his hands off me but he could clearly see my lie.

"Not only are you beautiful, you are also a horrible liar. If you were bonded, you wouldn't be working here. They don't let bonded omegas work here. I guess that is why I'm attracted to you." He said as his hand slowly touched my face, my body stiffening as he pulled closer.

"You are perfect and someone like you deserves to be treated like the jewel you are. I can make you happy, give you everything you've ever wanted, ready at your disposal and all you have to do is ask. The only thing I want is for you to be mine." He stated as he tried to kiss me but I pushed him away to his dismay.

"I'm sorry sir but I have to decline your offer, I'm not some prized trophy nor one of those omegas waiting for an alpha. I understand omega Ws are rare but that doesn't give you any right to disrespect me, I'm not an object. Please excuse me sir." I said as I stood up but I was pulled back by his hands.

I wasn't weak that was true but it seemed like the alcohol plus his secondary gender was making him violent and stronger.

He threw me back to the chair as he climbed on top of me, forcefully trying to kiss me as I struggled to get him off.

My hairband fell off, causing my hair to fall on my shoulders as I hit the alpha.

He sat up and hit me across the face twice, no doubt bruising me but I've had worst than this as I struggled.

We ended up on the floor and I was shocked when he twisted my arms as I screamed in pain. A little blood escaped on the side of my lips as he tied my hand behind my back with his tie.

Even though I was tied, I kept on struggling. I was scared and all I needed was one opening for me to run away and never come here ever again but I wasn't getting that chance as the man choked me but stopped.

I gasped for air but stopped when he ripped my shirt open, the buttons plopping as I watched it scared.

He kissed my neck as I closed my eyes in disgust. I opened my eyes when I felt lighter as my eyes met another stranger's eyes. 

It was silvery grey that was beautiful and fitted his olive complexion. His blonde hair was messy like he had just gotten out of bed and in his mouth was a stick of sweet that he licked lazily.

He bent down and untied my hands as he took off his jacket which was big and placed on my shoulders.

He helped me stand up as he glared at the old man who was on his knees, pleading for mercy.

"I want you to send a basket of gifts as apology to this young man or else..." His adonis voice, playful yet thick with threats as he walked me out.

Even though I was feeling skittish, he calmed me by releasing his pheromones as I struggled not to cry.

This man who was helping me was my mate and even though we both knew, I was glad that he wasn't bringing up that issue at all.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked timidly, feeling extra cautious in case he was like the other alpha. Trying to buy me with sympathy and wealth.

"The hospital. You've got an awful bruise." He said as he touched my neck while the blush that was always on my cheeks heated up.

I wanted to argue but he jerked me up and carried me bridal style as I held the jacket tight.

"Don't worry, the closest hospital isn't far from here. I'll just drop you and leave." He said and I nodded with an unknown shyness.

We got to the hospital and I was immediately attended to. I wanted to thank the six feet five alpha man who helped me but he was gone by the time I was done. 

So I made a mental note that if I saw him ever again, I'll thank him.
