ABIGAIL
I stood frozen near the closed door, scared. My sweat is now rolling down my back because of fear. Five pairs of eyes looking at me brought more fear all over my body."Miss, are you just going to stand there? One of them said. He has this mohawk hair and a bit bulky body. I jerked, startled. The tray that I was holding almost fell, but I was glad that it didn't because I was sure I was going to lose my job."I'm sorry, sir. Here's your drink." I slowly walk near their table and serve their drinks in front of them. He's handsome and hot, but why were his eyes fixed on me? Oh my god, I hope he won't recognize me."If you need anything else, sir, just call me." I hurriedly went to the door, eager to leave."Wait!!! More sweat formed on my forehead when I heard his voice. I'm going to die now. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before I turned around and faced them, wearing the sweetest smile I could master on my lips."Yes, sir?" He was looking at my face, and then he stood up. Oh no, I'm going to die. He stopped a few feet away from me. I could smell his minty scent, loved that smell, but I didn't want that smell to be my last breath. I still want to finish my studies and find a boyfriend. I don't even have my first kiss. He slowly raised his right hand, which scared me more."I'm sorry, sir." I quickly brought both arms in front of me to cover myself from any blow and stepped back, cowering away, scared like a puppy."Are you okay?""Huh? I asked, looking so stupid in front of him. His friends snickered behind him, looking at me. Thank you, Lord, so much. He doesn't remember me."Why are you saying sorry? You did nothing wrong. I only want to know your name if we want your service later, and you look familiar. Have we met before?""Huh? umm!! No, we didn't." I vigorously shook my head, causing his friend to chuckle, but I didn't care. My name is Abigail, sir. If you'll excuse me, I still have a customer to attend." I hurriedly left the room and closed the door behind me, with my heart pounding hard inside my chest.I lean at the closed door, clutching my chest in relief that he didn't recognize me. I took a deep breath, wiped my sweat using the back of my hand, and returned to Jay, who was grinning at me."Why are you sweating? Some asshole customers?" He asked while mixing some drinks. I nod in response, sitting at one of the bar stools, waiting for the next customer to serve their order."Abigail room five." They want you the one to serve this to them, and they want you the one to serve them throughout the night. I'm sure you'll have a big tip in there. Seems like they love your service." I clicked my tongue, took the tray, and went to room five. I knock twice, then enter. The guy earlier who grabbed my ID and slipped money in my breast pocket quickly stood up smiling. I smile back and carefully put their drink in front of them."Abigail, can you join us?""I'm sorry, sir, but it wasn't part of my job." I quickly declined. His friends smirked at him with a mocking look in their eyes."I'll give you a big tip." He offered."I'm sorry, sir. I really can't. If you want a girl to sit with your groups, you can ask our manager." I suggested."I don't want anyone. I want you." He said and stepped closer to me. I quickly stepped back and felt fears slowly building up inside me. He reached out his hand, but I quickly slapped it away and walked backward toward the door, my finger ready to press at the tiny gadget pinned in front of my blouse to alert our bouncer if he did something to me."I'm sorry if I scare you." He said, both hands up in surrender. "I just want to introduce myself. "I'm Carlo." He smiled, reaching out his hand for a handshake."Nice meeting you, Sir Carlo. " I smiled awkwardly and shook his hand. "But I need to leave now. I still have customers to serve.""It's okay. I hope when we come here next time, you're still the one to serve us.""No problem, sir, just tell that to our manager." He smiled and nodded his head. I bowed my head at them and then stepped out of the room.I let out a sigh of relief as soon as I left the room. I returned to Jay and sat on the stool in front of him. "This is for you." He grinned, handing me a $100 bill."This is mine? Are you sure?" I asked, surprised."Yes, the guy said it's for Abigail before they leave. The guy from room four.""Wow, this is big.""I know. You're lucky.""Maybe this is my lucky day." Jay laughed and messed up my hair. Jay is a friend of mine and also like a brother. He was there when my mom passed away a year ago to comfort me together with Cora and Mia and a shoulder to cry on.An hour later, the group in room 5 stepped out of their room. Carlo quickly went to me, smiling. "Hi, Abigail." I smile at him in return and slightly bow my head. "This is for you." He handed me $100. My eyes bulge. Another $100, oh my, this is really my lucky night."This is a lot, sir.""Take it, it's alright. I hope when we come back here, you're still the one to serve us.""I'm only here every Saturday, sir," I replied."Oh, that's why I didn't see you before. It's nice meeting you, Abigail. I hope to see you again.""Nice meeting you too, sir, and thank you.""You're welcome." He smiled and then left together with his friends."Oh my Jay, this is really my lucky night." I grinned."I know, right." Jay laughed.****The following day, I went to the Police station around eight in the morning. Officer Lee was already inside his office, grinning at me."Good morning, Miss Abigail." He smiled."Morning, Sir.""Sorry, I can't accompany you right now. I have lots of work to do, but I'll check the street after you finish later. The things you need are already outside. Just ask the janitor over there, and get your ID here after you finish.""Okay, sir." I quickly went out and asked the janitor for the things I needed and started my work. I sigh, sweeping the street with sweat all over me. The sun is now up high, and the weather is hot.I rested briefly, took off my cap, and sat under the tree, panting. I fan myself to lessen the heat I feel. I closed my eyes, leaning at the three to rest for a few minutes, but was startled when I felt a car stop near me.I quickly bolted up from my sitting position, and I gasped to see the man who stepped out of the car. I shrieked and quickly sprinted away, scared. Oh my god, does he not have a plan to stop chasing me? It's just a picture as if he'll die because of it."I glanced behind me, and I shrieked in fear when I saw him chasing after me."Yah! come here." He screamed."Hell no, what if he choked me to death." I ran faster and hurriedly crossed the street and sprinted back to the Police station, the place where I was sure he couldn't hurt me. I hid behind the door, peeking outside. I saw him walking back and forth in front of the Police station while wiping his sweat harshly."Hey! I jumped in fright when someone tapped my shoulder. I quickly looked back, and the grinning officer Lee greeted me."Are you done?" He asked again, smiling."Huh? Ah no. I want to drink water, I lied.""Ah, okay, you can get water in my office. There's a water dispenser there, but why are you hiding behind the door and peeking outside." He asked and looked outside. I sighed in relief when the guy earlier wasn't there anymore."No, sir." I lied again."Whatever. Go drink some water and go back to work." I quickly nodded my head and went inside his office, drank water, and then went out after. I went back to the street, making sure the guy earlier wasn't there anymore. I breathed a thank to god when I couldn't find him in there. I hurriedly finished my work, hoping he wouldn't come back again. After thirty minutes, finally, I'm done. I hurriedly returned to the Police Station, got my ID from Officer Lee, and hurriedly went home.ABIGAILI groaned in annoyance and groggily turned off my alarm clock when it went off. My body still aches slightly because of sweeping the street and running yesterday. I lazily stood up, went inside my bathroom, and bathed. After that, I dressed up for school. I made a sandwich, stepped out of my tiny apartment, and locked it while eating my sandwich, walking toward the bus stop. This is my life since my only family died, my mother. My father, I don't know who he is, and I don't have a plan to find him. My mother died because of breast cancer almost two years ago, after two years of struggling with it. I did my best to earn money for her medication and Hospital bills, but nothing happened.I took a deep breath and wiped the tears from my eyes. My mom is the best in the whole universe. When I was young, she gave me everything I needed. She works starting from seven in the morning until two in the morning to earn money for our daily expenses. She has three jobs every day, but I neve
MATTHEWI groaned in annoyance when someone peeled a comforter off my body. I ignored it and pretended that I was still sound asleep. I still felt sleepy because I slept late last night thinking about that girl who stole a picture of me. What is her purpose for doing it? Is she connected to a kidnapper or some syndicate? I quickly bolted up from my bed when a pillow hit my head. "Andrew!!!! I hissed in annoyance. "Hurry and drag your lazy ass to the bathroom. Do you know what time it is now? We need to leave after thirty minutes. Go if you don't want me to kick your lazy ass toward the bathroom." I threw a deathly glare at him but stomped to the bathroom. I took fifteen minutes inside and sighed in relief when Andrew was not in my room anymore when I stepped out of the bathroom. I quickly dressed up with my black skinny jeans, plain fitted white shirt and top it with my black leather jacket paired with my black boots. It is our first day in our new school, Dream High University. I
ABIGAIL POV'sI slumped down on my seat between Mia and Cora, not minding to greet them as soon as I stepped inside our room. My body, as well as my legs and feet, still ache because of running, climbing, and jumping at the ten-foot wall for the first time in my life, and even I can't believe I did it. My god, that guy is something. It's just a damn single picture. He won't die because of it. If only I knew that damn picture would turn my life into hell, I never stole that damn thing. I cursed and laid my head on my folded arms above my desk, feeling frustrated with myself for doing a stupid thing that resulted in my misery."Bad morning?" Mia whispered, wearing a teasing smile on her lips."Just tired," I answered, ignoring that playful glint in her eyes. Mia sometimes really can be annoying that I wanted to choke her and never let go until her breath left her. Sometimes, she's very insensitive to my annoyance, or maybe she just having fun annoying me every day. Still, how insensiti
MATHEWBoyfriend?" Leo shrieked like a girl. I give him a warning stare not to say anything as well as the others, and I mentally thank them when they get what I mean.Abby awkwardly smiles. "Mia, Cora, this is my boyfriend." Leo coughed as well as the other, but I threw them a warning glare."Matthew, My name is Matthew Kim." I introduce myself. I saw Abby bite her lower lips with fear in her eyes, looking at her frowning friends."Matthew? I thought you said your boyfriend's name is Carlo?" Mia asked, confused."Maybe you just heard it wrong. I said, Matthew." Abby awkwardly laughed and shoved a spoonful of food in her mouth."Carlo? Does she know that bastard?" My fist balled beside me, and I gritted my teeth."I thought your boyfriend has the same name as the guy that I set you on a blind date before. Remember the one you said was a jerk?""Oh, I don't remember his face, but I remember his name. That guy is so rude." Abby said."Oh yeah. That guy is a total jerk. She cursed me aft
The whole day, I didn't see Matthew and his friends earlier, and I wondered where they had gone. And now, I'm heading toward my part-time job, and I feel uneasy. I wondered why I felt this, but not seeing Matthew the whole day worries me. Why I'm worried about him? I don't know either. We only formally met yesterday and agreed with this fake boyfriend thing, but I felt a little attached to him.I finished my work in a blur, and I'm on a bus heading home. I arrived home around eleven in the evening. I quickly washed myself and laid my tired body on my bed.I was already slowly dosing off when my phone rang. I reached for it and drowsily answered it without looking at who the caller was. "Hello?""Abby! I quickly sat up and looked at the caller ID. Matthew? Why he's calling me this late? "Matthew, is that you?""Yes, Can you come over?" He asked, and I could hear him panting and speaking slurredly. "Come over? Do you know what time it is now? And why would I go there?""Remember the f
ABBY's POV'sI woke up the following day, and Matthew was already gone. I sighed. That guy. Who beat him? And of all people, why did he call me instead of his friends? Don't worry about it, Abby. Maybe he was just embarrassed to his friends to see him beaten up, but what time did he leave? He didn't even bother to leave a note to say thank you. Tsk!"I sighed once again, made my way inside the bathroom, and took a bath to ready myself for school. I grab a piece of bread on the table before I step out the door, and I was surprised to see Matthew leaning at the side of my door."Good morning." He is smiling brightly, looking at me. I frowned with a piece of bread dangling between my lips. But my eyes widened when he pulled it away from my lips and shoved it inside his mouth. I blinked many times, staring at him, who was munching my bread."You! What are you doing here, and that's my bread you are eating." I poked his chest, annoyed not because of my bread but because he just left withou
ABBY's POVsMatthew has one broken rib, an abrasion on his left cheek, on her elbow, and a big one on his left arm and his right leg. He winced every time he took a step, holding his side. I felt guilty because of what happened to him. He was severely hurt because he tried to prevent my fall by hugging me, making sure I fell on top of him, and he was the one who hit the ground. It's all the dog's fault why it crossed the street the time we passed by. I owe him more, first for pretending to be my boyfriend and now for saving me from the accident. How can I repay him now? I wait outside after the Doctor tends to my minor cuts while they're tending to Matthew. After fifteen minutes, the Doctor stepped out of the room, and Matthew followed him, with a man named John beside him."Matthew, are you okay now? I thought you had broken bones, and your scrapes looked serious. You should stay here for a day or two.""That's what I told him, Miss, but he wanted to go home." The Doctor said."I'm f
Matthew POV'S"Matthew, Matthew." I opened my eyes and quickly bolted up, only to fall back on my bed when I felt an excruciating pain on my side, arms, and leg. I mentally cussed, wincing in pain. "Just move slowly. Why did you suddenly get up from your bed? Look at your arm. It's bleeding again." Abby scolded me."You startled me. I forgot about the accident earlier, and I was startled to see your face when I opened my eyes." I reasoned out, wincing."Tsk! So it's my fault why you're in pain now. I am so ugly that I scare you? " She snorted."I didn't say that." I hissed. "Why did you wake me up anyway?"The food is ready. Come on, let's eat. I brought the food here." "Thank you, Abby. Can you help me, please?" She went beside me and helped me sit up, holding my shoulder. I wince but endure the pain. She put a pillow behind me and let me lean on the headboard. After that, she brought the tray of food in front of me and sat on the edge of my bed."Can you eat on your own?""I think
It was already six in the evening when a knock at the door came, and when Matthew opened it, Uncle Felix and Aunty Celeste stood outside the door, eyes both wide open in shock. "Matthew? " "Aunty, Uncle." "Oh my god." Aunty Celeste cried and wrapped her arms around Matthew, and Uncle Felux joined them, also crying. "You're alive. How did it happen?" "Come inside, and I'll tell you everything." Matthew opens the door wider to let them in. Uncle and Aunty settled on the couch while Mathew and I sat on the edge of Arabella's bed facing them. Matthew told them everything that happened since the day he woke up in the Hospital without any memory of us until the day he regained his memories. After he told them, Aunty Celeste was crying so much with Uncle's arms around her also crying. "I'm so happy that you're back now; without your daughter, I don't know what will happen to Abby after we receive the news that you are already dead. Lucky Arabella was with her." Matthew's
ABBYIt felt like the whole world fell over me. I staggered backward, but thankfully Matthew quickly held me."Sarah, How did this thing happen? You're at the playground across the street. How you're here?" I screamed, now trembling in fear."Sorry, ma'am, but Arabella wanted to come here because it's scorching outside. We only wanted to wait in the lobby, but that girl and the police came." Sarah explained, crying."Harry, call the head of security now!!! Matthew demanded. Everyone inside the conference room turned quiet instantly. Only my sob and Harry's voice, who was talking to the head of security over the phone, were heard, but Matthew snatched the phone from his hold."Block all the exits of the building now, and make sure Kayla can't step out of this building because the minute she is out, all of you will be jobless." He screamed and ended the call."I need to see Arabella." I cried, dragged Matthew out of the conference room, and ran to the lobby."Mommy, Daddy!! Arabella cri
MATTHEW After I left Abby and Arabella, I went straight to my unit, and as soon as I opened the door, Kayla's glaring eyes greeted me. "Where have you been? You're not answering my call, and your assistant doesn't know where you are. And you don't appear in our wedding rehearsal. You've gone for two nights and one day, and you don't even return my call. Where have you been, Matthew?" "None of your business, so shut up. You're ruining my day this early morning." I stormed inside my room, locking it. "Matthew! Matthew! Open this damn door." She screamed, banging on my door. I ignored her and hurriedly shoved the papers I needed inside the bag and the clothes to change before I opened the door. Walking past her, she grabbed my wrist, and I quickly pulled it away from her. I, feeling disgusted. "What's wrong, babe? What did I do wrong? Why you're avoiding me? What happened?" She asked, tears rolling down her face. If I still don't recall my memories, I'm sure I will fall for her
MATTHEW After dinner, I helped Arabella wash up and change into her pajamas despite her and Abby's protest, saying she could do it herself, but I ignored them. I want to do things I haven't done since the day she was born. "After changing our sleepwear, I wore Abby's oversized shirt and jersey shorts. Yes, until now, she still had those jerseys in her closet, but she wasn't wearing them anymore when she slept. She was now wearing nighties. I never thought she would wear this kind of clothing when she slept. I don't complain, by the way. Actually, I like it. Right now, she's wearing silk purple see-through nighties that reach an inch above her knees, and she looks so sexy in them. Her pale skin stands out more, and I can see the outline of her body through the fabric. "Ouch!!! Hey, why did you poke my forehead." "Stop staring." She rolled her eyes and slipped under the cover beside me. "I just stared at what was displayed in front of me." I chuckled, earning a pinch on m
ABBYGAIL "Bella, baby, come downstairs for a while. Daddy wants to ask you something." I called up and slapped his hand that crawled under my shirt and threw him a glare but pretended he did nothing. I pinch his side, earning a kiss on my cheek. After a minute, Arabella came running down the stairs. "Hey, don't run." Matthew races to the bottom of the stairs to catch Arabella in fear. But Arabella only giggled and jumped to her father's arm. "Hey, careful there, little one. You might fall off the stairs." Matthew kissed her cheek and returned to my side. "I'm a big girl now, and I always run up and down the stairs and never fell even once. I'm careful while running on the stairs, Daddy." Arabella reasoned out. Matthew sigh. "Accidents always happen, Baby, so please don't stop making Daddy, Okay?" "I'll be extra careful, Daddy, so that you won't worry. What do you want to ask me about Daddy?" "Do you want to eat lunch outside, Princess? Then let's go to the park and eat
ABBYGAIL"Did you contact Matthew?" I asked Mia for the nth time now. I'm so worried right now. Since he walked out of the clinic, I felt so scared, and to add to it, his assistant couldn't contact him."Abby, can you contact him yourself? Andrew is now glaring at me because I keep going to the bathroom to answer your call. I will give you the number of his assistant, or you can call him again tomorrow. It's already late, Abby. Maybe he was already sleeping." I bit my lips, but maybe Mia was right."Okay, Mia. I'm sorry for bothering you. Just send me his assistant's and Matthew's numbers, and I'll try to contact him tomorrow.""Okay. You rest now, Abby. It's already one in the morning.""Okay. Good night, Mia, thank you.""Don't mention it. Now rest.""Okay. Bye Mia.""Bye."I lay beside Arabella with my arms around her. Your daddy is back, baby, and I'm sure after you told him your father's name, I know he regained some of his memories. But why he left? But even though he didn't ack
MatthewI aimlessly walked with no direction, reminiscing our memories. I smiled at how happy and content with our life back then. I remember when we first made love. That night was the happiest moment of my life, the day of our wedding, and when I discovered Abby was pregnant with our first baby. Those memories are my most treasured but forgotten. I wiped my tears but abruptly stopped when I found my surroundings familiar.I'd been walking for over an hour, and my legs were already burning and getting dark. Slowly, I made my way to the familiar building before me, the building that keeps the memories of how I fell in love with Abby. I don't know if my parents already sold this building or if it is still under my name. I hope it's still mine because Abby and I have many happy memories here.I made my way to the entrance of the building and stepped inside."Matthew. It's been a long time, sir." The guard at the entrance greeted me, smiling. I guess the fake news of my death didn't r
MATTHEWWe arrived at the clinic with Arabella still in my arms. She doesn't want to let go. I didn't complain because I felt comfortable holding her, and I felt warmth in my heart because she kept kissing me. She's a sweet and lovely child. I hope I can have a daughter as sweet as her."What happened to our beautiful Princess? Why you're pale and have tears in your eyes? You even have bruises on your knees?" Can you lie down, Princess, so I can see if check on you? " The Doctor tenderly asked her. "No! I only want Daddy to carry me." The Doctor looked at Miss Park frowning, but she only smiled at her. "I fell on the floor earlier; that's why I have a bruise on my knees," Arabella murmured."I'll sit, and you sit on my lap. Is it okay for you, Princess?" Arabella nodded, smiling.I sat on the edge of the bed and sat her sideward on my lap. The Doctor checked her pulse and heartbeat, and she looked at Miss Park after. "What?" Miss Park mouthed."Her heartbeat is irregular, uneven br
MATTHEW"She brings back my happiness." I wondered why she said that but didn't question further. I'm scared that she might think that I'm invading her privacy. "Babe! I think the merging with Arabella wasn't right." Kayla voiced out, and I snapped my eyes at her."And why is that Kayla? I'm helping him. First, I'm helping him with his business. Second, I'll vote for him to become the CEO, and third, I'm helping him remove a termite in his company." Mrs. Arevalo chuckled when Kayla threw her a death glare. What was she talking about? Who is the termite, she was saying? Kayla? But why? How can she call her that? Kayla has been the one helping me these past months."Drink your coffee while it is hot," Abbygail said as soon as the staff served our coffee. I open my mouth to defend Kayla, but how can I when I don't remember the past? I shook my head, picked up the cup of coffee, and brought it to my lips, thinking whether Miss Park was telling the truth or not. I hate that my memories ha
