GRACE

Let's get one thing straight when I say I hate something I mean it and I will never do it. However, if my dumbass best friend: Monica Steerling happened to be involved, then suddenly you'll find me doing things I wouldn't normally do; things that were completely out of my character — like coming to this human nightclub and allowing her to gorge more than a gallon of alcohol.

Unfortunately, that was what it took for her to feel the slightest bit tipsy and she planned on getting hammered, so once she began ordering drinks, they just kept coming with no end in sight. She made sure that I drank too, knowing that the effects wouldn't last that long so we could easily make it back home. Either way, if a human tried to touch us, our wolves would take over and it would be 'bye-bye human'.

One of the many perks to being a werewolf if you had to ask me.

We healed rapidly, our senses were heightened, we were fast and completely agile, we were strong with only a few things that could truly harm us, and we had a long life span; our youthful years lasting far longer than the average human.

At twenty-five, I could easily pass for a sixteen-year-old, and where that may have been good in some cases, in most it wasn't. Getting into this club was a pain in the behind because they didn't believe that my ID was real. Being extremely short for a werewolf also played its part.

The music blared from the speakers, its vibration combined with the jumping and dancing of everyone in the area caused the floor to vibrate beneath my feet. I hated these places because, as a werewolf with a great sense of smell, I could get the foul odor of the sweaty people grinding and groping each other. There was the potent scent of alcohol lingering in the air as well but that wasn't what made my stomach curl and twist into knots. It was the stench of every hormonal human that was aroused and stuffed into this small, confined place that made me want to hurl.

"Whoa...." Monica yelped, nearly tripping on her own feet and planting a wet kiss on the disgusting floor. She managed to grab ahold of the bar in time though, steadying herself before ordering another round of tequila shots.

"Mono, you've had enough to drink," I slurred. She had been pumping me with alcohol from the time we entered so I wasn't surprised. Unlike her, I was a quiet drunk that just sat and minded my own business.

She, on the other hand, became louder and difficult to deal with.

"Don't," she paused, holding a finger to my face, "call me that. You make me sound like some sort of STI."

I snickered. It did sound like an STI but I had called her that since kindergarten and nothing was about to stop me now, "Nope, MONO!" I yelled her name on purpose which caused the cute bartender to shake his head and laugh.

"Grace Savannah Evans, don't make me give you a wedgie!" Her lips tilted into a sloppy smile. My best friend was officially completely hammered.

The bartender placed our shots in front of us and within a second we downed them as if they were water. We didn't even need the slices of lemon that he handed us.

"Don't look now but that guy has been staring at you the entire night," Monica slurred into my ear, gesturing to someone behind me, "It's like no matter where he stands, his eyes just fall on you."

I giggled — blame the alcohol, "And how would you know that if you weren't eyeballing him the entire night?"

She rolled her beautiful forest green eyes at me, flipping her long jet black hair over her shoulder in a sassy motion, "He's one fine piece of meat, baby. I was thinking of shooting my shot but then, clearly the man is into you."

"You're insa—" I was cut off by the most intriguing smell ever. A smell that lulled out the horrid stench of this place. I inhaled deeply, relishing it. It reminded me of the salty air that kissed your face the moment you stepped foot onto the beach.

"Gracey, baby?" Monica sang, snapping her fingers in front of me, "Come on, snap out of it," she said a little harsher but her voice had dropped to a whisper. Nudging me with her elbow, she continued, "Mister tall, tanned, and mouth-watering is standing behind you."

I could feel the buzz of that tequila shot finally setting it. It was that extra push I needed to be completely clobbered. Wobbling slightly, I turned around and was met with the most divine-looking man I had seen all night.

He stood tall with broad shoulders and a toned body. The gray t-shirt he wore fitted him too perfectly, it seemed like his biceps would rip the seams. My eyes drifted lower, finding him in black skinny jeans that were quite snug and a pair of biker boots.

"Eyes up here, sweet cheeks," he cooed in a low voice that almost sounded way too sensual for him to be using on me.

I chose to ignore whatever corny name he decided to call me due to the embarrassment of being caught ogling him. Monica was right, he did look like one fine piece of meat. A wave of heat drowned me, my cheeks probably tinting a shade of pink that my blush was sure to cover up.

The wonders of makeup.

My eyes fell to my feet but that was short-lived when the man hooked a finger under my chin. The little contact made my skin tingle but I ignored it thinking it must have been the alcohol messing with my brain. Then he picked my head up and I felt my breath hitch in my throat.

His deep brown eyes made me feel like I was drowning in sweet, sweet honey. He had an anchoring stare that was difficult to pull away from but I did so so my eyes could take in his facial features. There were faint freckles that decorated his high cheekbones and there was a slight stubble coating his strong jaw. His perfectly straight nose made me envious of how good it looked. Those chocolate brown locks of his were styled in a side wave and the only thing on my mind was how completely and utterly delicious he looked.

I brought my eyes back to his and I could tell that he had been doing the same as me —  summing me up — and he must have liked what he saw because his defined pink lips curled into a smirk.

"I'm just going to leave. Do me a favor, take this hunk home, and fuck his brains out for me. You need to have fun, Gracey baby," Monica said through our mind link.

I resisted the urge to turn around and glare at her because I knew she would have probably been gone by now. Instead, I shut off the mind link from me to the rest of the pack, putting up a mental blockage so no one could interfere with me for the rest of the night.

"Can I get the lovely lady a drink?" He spoke with a sultry tone that had my core tightening. It usually took a lot more than a man's voice to affect me but then again, when you were in the presence of someone God-like, your hormones are bound to get excited.

I nodded my head and the next thing I knew, a martini was being placed in my hand and a scotch in his. I knew having more to drink would just impair my judgment further but how could I tell the man no? It felt like I had forgotten how to use the word.

"What's on your mind there, sweet cheeks?" He asked, sipping his drink.

I scowled but I could tell he wasn't taking me seriously by the way his lips split into a Goddamn perfect pearly white smile, "That sounds corny. Does that name work on the rest of these girls?" I ran my index finger of my left hand slowly down his collar bone, down his hard chest, across the plains of his abdominal muscles, and stopped directly above his belt buckle which hung dangerously low.

I knew I was setting myself up for trouble but Monica was right, I needed to have fun. I needed to live a little. There was no way I could take him home with me because no one other than pack members were allowed on our lands but I had an apartment a block away. It was a place I used to get away from everything and that would just have to do.

His adam's apple bobbed and I swear I saw his eyes shift from a startling purple to its honey brown color again but I ignored it. It must have been one of the many lights in the club reflecting off his eyes. There was no such thing as purple eyes, not even in the werewolf world.

"Look princess, you should stop before we both end up doing something we will regret in the morning," his tone was no longer seductive. It held so much authority and for some reason that had my legs trembling.

"Oh handsome, I think I know what I'm doing. Don't be a spoilt sport," the words that tumbled out of my mouth surprised even me but surprisingly enough, I didn't feel bad for it. My wolf wasn't even objecting.

There was a low growl that reverberated in his chest, "Are you sure you know what you want, princess? Because you might not like the outcome."

I licked my lips, his eyes followed my tongues movements, "Why don't you kiss me and find out?"

"Do you want me to kiss you?"

"Why? If I say no, would you not?"

He shook his head, "I won't take advantage of a drunk girl," in his eyes I could see a greater conflict though.

"What if that drunk girl wants it?"

"It's the alcohol talking."

I rolled my eyes and I watched as his facial features hardened. Swinging my arms over his shoulders and standing on the tips of my toes, I realized I still didn't meet his height. Not even with my six-inch pumps on. Growing frustrated, I pulled him down so that his lips would land smack bang on top of mine.

He tried riggling out of my hold but I was persistent and eventually, he began moving his lips with mine. They were soft and plump against my own and moved so wonderfully. Every part of my body felt as if it were on fire especially when he snaked his arms around me, bringing me impossibly closer.

A growl left his lips as he ran his tongue over my bottom lip. I permitted him to explore my mouth, the scotch taste mixed with mint that leaked of him becoming my new favorite flavor.  I pulled away slightly to catch my breath and was satisfied to know that I wasn't the only one panting for air.

Taking one look into his swirling honey eyes I knew I was in for a world of trouble tonight and for once I simply didn't care.

GRACE Werewolves have really quick recovery times. With that being said, suffering from a hangover was nearly impossible if all we drank was human liquor. But as my eyes fluttered open and I began perching myself up, an undeniable throbbing headache attacked my head. If I didn't know better, I would have thought my brain had shifted, probably turned upside down for all I knew.I waited for the slight disorientation to fade away before finally taking in my surroundings. My memory felt fuzzy and I suspected that Monica must have spiked one of my drinks last night to help me loosen up. Certain supernatural substances managed to get us werewolves high. I didn't know much about them but Monica was a raging party animal who had tried just about everything for the fun of it.Looking around, I realized I was in my bedroom — the one in the apartment I owned outside the pack. GRACEI wanted to move, to run out of there, and never look back but my feet wouldn't let me. They betrayed me by remaining put, almost as if someone poured quick-drying cement on them. We just stood there, eyes never wavering. He looked surprised to see me but what did he expect. There was only one pack in this district so obviously, I belonged here; unless he expected me to be a rouge. I knew I'd run into him eventually, I just didn't expect it to be so soon. From the corner of my eye, I spotted Gino walking toward me, his muscular arm firmly wrapped around the tiny waist of what I assumed was his mate. I decided to break our a little staring contest and meet Gino's sparkling blue orbs instead. His eyes reminded me so much of his brother's."Grace, finally decided to come home?" Gino grinned cheekily and I knew Monica must have told him about last night.Rolling my very dull blue eyes, I pun

GRACE"Mom, can we not talk about this," I groaned, walking up to her and placing a kiss onto her cheek, "I came here with the hope of getting away from it for a while. Just a little while.""I don't think that's going to be possible because Rykes is on his way to see you," Aphrodite informed, "He's not mad so don't worry about that but he really wants to talk to you.""Are you sure he isn't mad? I mean, I did attack an alpha wolf that had permission to be on our territory," I began fumbling with my fingers, anxiety rising within me. I was ready to face any punishment he would offer. To attack without reason or cause was against pack law."Alpha Silas spoke to Rykes and requested that he let you off with a warning. He seems to understand why you refuse to accept the bond," she said before her eyes glazed over. Aphrodite had the uncanny ability to communicate within a mind link and still talk to someone in person at the same time. I had no ide

SILAS"What if she rejects you?" My Beta, Xander Payne, asked with concern lacing his words. He didn't have ill intentions, obviously trying to look out for his Alpha but my wolf didn't take too kindly to what he asked.A growl vibrated in my chest, a warning growl telling him that he better tread lightly, "She won't. I won't allow her too." I simply stated, my wolf stirring at the thought of not having her.Not again, this won't happen again. "You can't force her to accept you Silas. From what I heard, she had a mate before and she still seems very connected to that mate," he pointed out, leaning back into the brown leather couch he was seated in. He had his left leg resting over his right knee, elbows resting on the arm rests, and fingers laced in front of him. Clearly, his stance screamed business mode, trying to tell me that he was just stating the facts of the situation. My wolf felt jealous of the strong bond she had with her pas

GRACEI spent my Saturday night and all of my Sunday locked in my room, not even bothering to leave to eat with the rest of the pack. Monica hadn't been to the room since she left Saturday afternoon which left me in a calm, smoke-free zone for the weekend which I took full advantage of. I loved my best friend, I just didn't love her smoking habits. Unfortunately, she listened to no one and did whatever the hell she felt like unless the Alpha ordered her otherwise. Throwing on a hot pink sports bra, black yoga tights, and trainers I had bought just for pack training, I made my way to the back yard where everyone was beginning to do stretches and warm-ups for the session. After I joined the pack warriors, I quickly climbed the ranks, becoming the head female pack warrior. At first, I had been the only she-wolf and the men in the pack didn't take too kindly to that. However, with the alpha's permission, I began training o

GRACEI had been on border petrol that Monday evening; directly after dinner at the pack house, I had to report for duty. To be the pain in the ass I expected him to be, Silas decided to follow me out that night, keeping me company during my entire shift. He kept his distance from me though, and I was grateful that we couldn't understand one another in wolf form. I didn't need him reminding me of the events that happened earlier in the day. My one moment of weakness that I would never show him again.Tuesday followed in the same manner; training in the morning, sleeping during the day, and border patrol all night. Even Tuesday, Alpha Silas followed me out. My wolf loved that. It showed that he cared for his mate's safety. GRACEWhatever trance he had found himself in broke just as fast as he fell into it. He was quick to catch me up again, matching my stride as best as he could, "No-one has ever mentioned my eyes before."I shrugged, "So no-one finds it weird that they're purple sometimes and a honey brown others.""Yours turn obsidian at times and then they turn to this bluish gray," he pointed out. It made me feel a little less awkward that I had put so much time into analyzing his eyes because clearly he did the same."That's because my wolf tends to take over when she's mad. Haven't completely learnt how to control that yet," I admitted, keeping my eyes downcast. Everything came easy to me because I did it on an everyday basis but I hardly ever felt anger so when I did, I simply didn't know how to deal with it."Well the same happens with me, except, my wolf and I have an understanding.

GRACEAfter pulling a double shift patrolling the pack western border, I was officially exhausted. I had only returned to my room at the pack house at sunrise and found Monica still deep in her slumber. She wore a white tank top and silk shots that left nothing to the imagination. Laying on her stomach, she had one hand and one leg dangling off the bed in a position that didn't look too comfortable. Rolling my eyes, I stripped down into my underwear and pulled over a long, baggy t-shirt so I could get some sleep. Luckily, because of how drained both me and my wolf were, sleep came easily but I was never a day sleeper. With the heat and the bright sun protruding through the drawn curtains, I only managed to get three hours' worth of sleep in. When I awoke, I found Monica fully dressed, sitting at the edge of her bed, fully engrossed in her phone.I rubbed my eyes to remove it's tiredness as my groggy vo

GRACE Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe... The room door opened, revealing Monica and Lana. They were the last to arrive but at least the were both fully dressed. I couldn't bring myself to frown at them because they looked absolutely adorable together. Two years had passed since the incident and they had moved on, creating a wonderful life for themselves. Monica was allowed to remain in the pack she called home from birth and I was grateful to Alpha Rykes for that. Cassidy, Diana (my elder sister), and Jasmine (Silas' sister) had been here since morning trying to help me out. Anne would drop in now and then but she mostly remained downstairs to help cater the guests. Anne and I had a rocky start when we met two years ago but we were navigating around our relationship quiet well now. She was growing up to be such a beautiful young girl."I'm usually not such a bad cook," I pointed out in a hushed tone, making certain not to wake my sleeping mate up.It was now a little over a year since I met Grace and we were going strong. SILASHave you ever loved someone so much that it felt as if you would suffocate without them? Placed all your trust in them to have it broken as if it were some cheap brand of glass that could be bought in an ordinary store? Did someone ever give you the most precious gift anyone could ever pray for and then attempt to take away one of your other prized possessions all at once? Have you ever experienced true love, love with no boundaries, love with no strings, love that was limitless, love that could span across the age of time? And finally, have you experienced loss? A loss that could shatter the heart into pieces that didn't make sense anymore, love that robbed you of the smile that once graced your face, loss that demolished all the hope stirring in your body, a loss that completely and utterly guttered you?I fell in love with Grace the same way she fell in love with me but I still felt conflicted. GRACE"So, what's it like being around so many werewolves?" Monica asked Ambrosia. We were sat in the living room of the pack house. After last night, I hadn't seen Silas. He arrived home late and left before I could wake. I knew the whole situation with Lucille bothered him. No matter how angry she could possibly make him, killing her would never cross his mind. I guess that was the price he had to pay since he still had feelings for her — even if the feelings weren't as strong as what he felt for me. I accepted that he probably wouldn't stop loving the mother of his child completely because I knew I wouldn't stop loving my ex-mate completely. A part of Carter lived within me.It made me feel better that Ambrosia and Tiana hadn't seen their mates either. They were probably with Silas. My social anxiety decided it would make itself known. I had never been in front of such a massive crowd before. I had never experienced having every single pair of eyes in a room on me before. Some looked at me with hope shining in their eyes, others with confusion riddling their features, and some looked between Lucille who stood at one corner and then at me with anger. They still believed that I was running after a mated wolf. A home-wrecker.Lucille's face contorted in anger, Sydney in her arms. GRACEI had gotten Sydney dressed in a beautiful royal blue ball gown. The entire dress shimmered when rays of light bounced of it, giving her an ethereal glow. She resembled a princess, a little silver crown sitting on her head full of luscious light brown curls. The radiant smile that graced her face had my heart swelling in my chest. I loved this little girl more than I loved life itself. It wasn't difficult to fall in love with someone as innocent and bubbly as her. When we were done, I made my way downstairs with her on my hip. I didn't care that she was creasing the delicate material of my dress or that my make-up would potentially smudge thanks to the shower of kisses Sydney pressed against my cheeks. Once Lucille got here I knew I had to let Sydney go and the thought alone was difficult for me to deal with. Sticking to his usual self, there was a pink sticky note stuck onto the lampshade on my bedside table. The bright color caught my eyes almost instantly as the the midday sun reflected off it. I grabbed the note and read the words written in his immaculate handwriting.'Had some work to take care off. Made you something to eat and kept it downstairs. I managed to kill one of them but in that time, the second guard somehow informed everyone else through a walkie-talkie. That left me little time to find Monica and get the hell out of here.I continued straight down the corridor until I reached another room with a metal door. The door was ajar, the two men that had escorted Monica struggling to subdue her and stick her into a cell. As much as Monica thought she was broken, this moment proved she still had plenty fight in her.A feral snarl that left my mouth caught the two men off guard. Monica used that to her advantage, claws extending from her fingers and slashing one of the men's throats.
