Chapter Twenty two : In denial

The ride back home all goes in a blur and I don’t even know how I walk up to my room. ‘’Earth to Camilla.’’ Melody snaps her fingers and I smile.

‘’Hey.’’ She pulls me into my room. ‘’You look like you were hit by a truck.’’ she teases as she takes the bags from my hands and I shrug.

‘’Having a party without me?’’ Ella’s voice comes through and Melody stands right away.

‘’Mrs. Moretti.’’ she addresses her respectfully and only then does it hit me that she is not of our level now.

But I'm sure she will always be her sweet self. It is us who will have a hard time adjusting.

‘’Oh no! Please call me Ella. Please, I insist. I hope you won’t change how you treat me just because I got married to Adrian.’’ She says and I smile.

Of course we will, I say to myself. Adrian will have our heads on a platter.

Melody shifts uncomfortably but remains silent. ‘’So, dinner huh?’’

‘’It came as a surprise even to me.’’ I try to explain before they both think otherwise.

‘’Show us the b
