Celine took a step backward, allowing herself to turn and walk toward the door. She glanced over her shoulder at him briefly as she reached for the doorknob, giving him one last reassuring smile before she began walking toward the door. "Well," she commented. "I suppose it's time for me to start packing up the stuff from the storage room." She told him, taking another step backwards, causing him to nod.Roman stood up from his seat and began moving toward the door, pausing when he reached it. "Wait!" He called suddenly. He turned back around and faced her again. "When do you think you're going to return? I thought that you were supposed to meet with your council in two days time." He explained curiously.Celine let out a small laugh. "They'll manage without me for a few days. Besides, you should probably go ahead and leave. You're obviously busy." She told him.Roman shook his head slightly. "No, I'm not. I haven't started packing yet." He admitted. "And besides, I'd rather wait
Celine blinked slowly, trying to process what he had just said. Was she having a bad dream? Was the sun already down? But it had only been just over an hour ago. Had that really been that long? She felt her stomach lurch slightly at the thought that her nightmare had ended and she was now awake, although that was probably what had brought her back to reality. Still, it didn't make any sense. She had woken up before the sun had risen, so surely it had been much longer than half an hour since she had finally managed to fall asleep. Something just didn't feel right about all of this. She closed her eyes tightly for a few seconds, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling that had settled within her. She could feel Roman watching her carefully, but she refused to open her eyes again. She didn' want to see him. She couldn't bear to look into those eyes again. It hurt too much. Not just because of what she had done, but also because of the way that he had reacted upon finding out who she was
Still, she couldn't help but think that it was strange that he wouldn't come to wake her up. Normally, he would at least let her sleep for a little bit after having spent the entire day worrying about her. This time, he had completely disappeared. It was starting to worry her. Especially since he seemed to be avoiding her now. She didn't know what she had done wrong to cause him to act that way, but she hoped that everything would be okay soon. Because she definitely wasn't going to give up just like that.Celine got up from her seat on the bed as she slipped her feet into her slippers, grabbing onto her crutches as she made her way over to the door. She pulled it open and stepped out into the hallway, making her way towards the stairs. However, upon looking down the hall, she found that it was empty. She frowned slightly. Surely Roman wouldn't have just left without letting her know where he was headed. What if something had happened? Would he have been able to find his way back h
Celine blushed slightly at his words, despite them having already been spoken many times before, especially when she saw that he had been staring at her with a mixture of love and affection. But, this time, his words felt different. As though he hadn't just been complimenting her appearance or saying that he loved her. They felt genuine. More than that, they seemed like a promise that they would remain together forever."Thank you." She whispered. After a brief pause, a small, sad smile crossed his face. "Come on," he said gently, reaching out his arm, "let's go."They began to walk down the corridor towards the main entrance of the castle. It was just the two of them, with everyone else having gone outside to play games or watch the sport. There was no one else there. Neither of them spoke. They merely moved silently towards the entrance to the castle. Once there, Roman opened the double doors and ushered Celine through. Although the sun had not yet set, the bright sunlight shini
Besides, even if things were bad, at least she'd been able to experience them with someone she truly cared about. Someone she considered to be her best friend, someone that she trusted and loved deeply. And she hadn't had to watch them die right in front of her. She wasn't forced to watch the person whom she loved die. She had had time to prepare for it. And she was grateful that she had gotten to spend as much time with him as possible.Even with all of these thoughts rushing through her brain, she couldn't fight off the fear that was threatening to overwhelm her every few seconds. Every time she thought that it was beginning to fade, it suddenly flared back up stronger than before, making her tremble slightly. It was difficult for her to believe that this was really happening. And yet, she knew that it was true. She knew exactly how it would happen. The man that had kidnapped her would kill her, then turn his attention to Roman. He would kill him too, although, unlike her, he wo
Celine bit her lip nervously. "Father, we need to talk about something..." She trailed off.He ignored her statement. "We can't talk about anything anymore. Your mother has decided to take you to live with her family now. I've already made arrangements for your belongings."Celine furrowed her brows in confusion. "Why? Where am I supposed to go?""To stay with my sister." He stated."No!" She exclaimed, sounding shocked."Why not?" He questioned in return. "It makes no sense to send you off with him." He pointed towards Roman."Father, please! I don't want to live there!"The older man shook his head in an almost mocking manner as he crossed his arms in front of him. "Of course you do. You love living there. Why else do you think you came here? If you were to stay there, you would always have someone with you." He explained. "Now tell me: How long will it take for us to get ready for your trip?" He questioned. She frowned. "Father, I'm not leaving today.""You are going to." He sta
Roman gave her a warm smile. "I understand. Trust me, I know. There aren't any promises that I could make that would convince you to stay here. But if you're willing to try, then I will stand by you every step of the way. And I will protect you whenever you need it."She smiled back at him reassuringly. "Thank you, Roman.""It's nothing." He said, returning the smile. The two remained silent for a few moments, staring into each other's eyes as their gaze lingered, neither of them wanting to break eye contact for fear that something would suddenly interrupt them. After what felt like hours, both Celine and Roman finally broke the stare, turning their heads to look down at the floor while blushing furiously. After a moment, she heard footsteps approaching the door. A guard entered the room, looking quite surprised. "Your Highness." He bowed his head politely to Prince Roman.Prince Roman stood from his chair, walking towards the guards. "What happened?" He asked with a frown."There
If he could get rid of the king, then perhaps he wouldn't have to kill anyone at all. Of course, that didn't mean that he was happy about having to murder someone, even if it was for the good of the country, but he knew that he had no choice. The king wasn't weak, he could easily defeat his enemies. It didn't stop him from hating it, however. He knew that there was nothing he could do to change these unfortunate circumstances, so he resigned himself to the fact that there would likely always be blood spilled on his hands, which unfortunately meant that he had no choice but to continue fighting. However, he couldn't ignore that his heart felt heavy in his chest as he thought about what the Aztecs were planning for him and his people. Although he tried hard not to think about them, it seemed that every day he spent thinking about them only reminded him of the horrible fate awaiting him once he fell under their control. He didn't care if the king was dead, or if he died of old age - he
King Roman finally get all of he ever wanted the throne, peace and his family back without any disturbing, he feels so happy to raise his children together with his beloved wife Celine.Celine was finally able to get out from the cursed and finally together with King Roman."Celine, let me take you into the magical garden there."Celine nodded and King Roman kept holding her hand.He kissed her hands and she smiled happily at him.The two got out of the castle and started walking in the garden. It wasn't just the normal garden but a magic garden that could make plants grow from anything. They went through the garden and when they get to a small pond near the garden Celine jumped into the water. She swims around happily and laughs as she looks up from the water. When she comes back out she saw that the king hasn't follow her so she looked over where she last seen him.He was standing right at the edge of the pond looking at something that made him smile like never before. Her husband a
Unfortunately, this didn’t stop his heart from breaking a little whenever they cried or when they woke up screaming in the middle of the night, scared of monsters or demons, unable to control themselves. Sometimes, Roman wondered if he should try to help them somehow, but then he remembered what happened the previous day. If he had interfered, then the kidnappers would have gotten away with everything, and Celine and his daughters would have died. Instead, he decided to ignore them, pretending as if nothing had happened and letting the incident be completely forgotten. This way, Celine could have a normal life again, and he could finally sleep without worrying about her.As Roman went through that process of ignoring and forgetting about the incident, he gradually began to grow tired. Despite that fact, he stayed up until late into the night before finally falling asleep. When he woke up the next morning, the sun was shining brightly and he could hear birds singing outside in the
Slowly and cautiously, he moved his gaze toward the direction that he thought he had seen the source of the noise coming from. And suddenly, he realized that the source of the sound had been Celine’s hand. She was clutching her left hand tightly in both of hers and she had begun rocking herself back and forth in a small circle. The movements weren’t violent, though, but rather rhythmic, and were definitely something that Roman recognized as something she frequently did when she was upset. It wasn’t that Roman was surprised that Celine was having trouble sleeping or that he was worried that she might be feeling uncomfortable. After all, she had been through quite a bit today, and it was understandable that she might feel that way. But what shocked him was that she was apparently doing it in the middle of the night instead of at the usual hour when he would normally be waking her up to ask her if she needed anything. It was odd behaviour for her, especially after what had happened
So, he would wait. He would patiently try to support his wife, and he would try to be there for her, and he would do his best to make sure that she was always happy. But above all else, he would have to keep reminding himself to stay calm. No matter how angry he was, no matter how hard he tried, he wouldn’t be able to break down if he were to lose his composure. And if he broke down, there was no doubt that he would never forgive himself. Not for something like that. He might not understand what it was like to live with her constantly and watch her suffer, but he didn’t want to find out what the outcome might be if he actually broke down. So, for the sake of his family, he would remain strong and hold himself together. That way, if things did end up getting rough, he had a chance to save what little remained of his family and his sanity. And that was all that really mattered. Everything else, everything else was just distractions. His thoughts were broken away from their current tr
It had become quite clear over the course of the last two weeks that he wasn’t going to be able to keep pushing Celine as far as he normally would have. It pained him to see her hurting like this. He understood, logically speaking, that she was still in a fragile place mentally, but it seemed that the more time that passed by and the more painful memories that surfaced, the less he wanted to push her. So, in order to help her move forward, he would have to allow her to talk to him, but only after she had been cleared for release. He was going to be patient with her, however long it took. In fact, he would be patient for years if it meant that he would eventually be granted the opportunity to help her heal and grow stronger.Roman sighed deeply and ran his fingers through his hair before turning his attention back to the book resting on his lap. It was nearing the end of the third chapter and he had already finished reading through it three times. This was the fourth time he had re
Celine continued crying quietly, occasionally letting out a small whimper or sniffle, until she finally lost the ability to hold back anymore. She sat against the cold white tiles, hugging herself tightly and allowing her body to relax as much as it possibly could. A part of her wished that she didn’t need to be rescued, that she could just fall asleep and never wake up again. Or that someone would come in and save her from everything else. Maybe Roman would come back after work and sweep her up into his arms and carry her to bed. Perhaps she could convince him to stay. To spend forever with her. To be happy together. But no matter how desperately she hoped that was going to happen, it wasn’t going to happen. Because he wouldn’t be back for another week and even if he was, that wouldn’t give her enough time to convince him that her problems were truly worth helping her deal with. It just wasn’t realistic. She wasn’t going to lie. It hurt. There was a part of her that still loved h
Roman sat down at the other end of the counter, turning his head so that his eyes were looking up at her. He had a soft smile on his face and she was unable to avoid smiling back. She loved when he smiled like that. It made her feel warm inside. It brought back memories of simpler times that she wished she could forget. When they were both young and in love. When things between them weren’t complicated or hard to work through. Before everything had gone so wrong and they were separated by miles upon miles of ocean. Before they had even met. “So…what happened?” he asked hesitantly.“What do you mean?”“Well last night was kind of weird…and today isn’t exactly the best situation either, so what happened last night that has you so upset?”“Don’t worry about it,” she mumbled.“It doesn’t look like you want to talk about it,” he pointed out. “And honestly, I think it would probably make you feel better if I knew what was going on. We don’t know each other that well yet…we hardly know
The next morning, when Celine awoke, Roman was lying on the couch, facing her, sound asleep. His arm was slung over the top of her torso and he was snoring gently into her shoulder. He looked peaceful as his eyebrows were relaxed and his mouth hung slightly open. For a split second, he looked younger and less exhausted than he usually did. His hair was disheveled, sticking out at odd angles and there was an obvious flush on his face due to the heat radiating from the heater. Her heart fluttered in her chest at the sight. He looked so adorable and it gave her butterflies to see him looking so tired and worn out. She reached up with her hands to push some of his messy curls away from his forehead before running her fingers lightly over his temples, pushing them downwards gently as she did so. His eyes fluttered for a moment and she thought he was about to wake up, but instead, he nuzzled into her hand, sighing contently as he continued to drift further and further towards slumber.A
Roman nodded quickly, standing up and walking swiftly towards the kitchen. He rummaged around inside the medicine cabinet for a bit, searching through the various bottles until he managed to find a bottle which he immediately popped open and handed to her. She took it gingerly and swallowed down two capsules. She glanced up at him and smiled gratefully. “Thanks.”“You’re welcome. How are you feeling anyway? Are you really alright?”She nodded. “Yeah. I’m fine. A little dizzy, maybe. But I’ll manage. It’s just exhaustion.”He frowned slightly. “But you just said that it’s been three weeks. What happened? Have you not slept for three weeks now?”“I told you, Roman. My body is just adjusting to everything that happened. That’s all. Don’t worry about it. Please, stop asking questions. You’re making me uncomfortable.”Roman sighed and sat back down on the couch, taking her hand into his again. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked so many questions.”“No, no, you’re fine. Just please stop
