(Vivian’s POV)
Without realizing it, my steps stopped in front of my friend Summer’s apartment building.
After leaving home with all the pain and disappointment I had endured, I had no idea where else to go. I couldn’t tell my parents what had happened. It would only make them even more devastated.
There was nothing I could do but hide it. Just to spare them from feeling the same pain I did. I would keep it to myself, handle everything alone, and when the time was right, I would finally tell them what had happened.
Even though I can't see what my future will be like.
Still, I had to face it with a positive mindset.
“Vivian? What happened” Summer’s eyes widened with concern the moment she saw me, my appearance a complete mess.
She pulled me inside and led me to sit on the couch in the living room. Her hands gripped mine tightly, as if afraid I might fall apart.
“Summer,” I whispered in my trembling voice., "What should I do?"
I didn’t know where to start.
Everything became a blur as the tears I had been holding back suddenly broke free, falling without resistance as Summer wrapped me in a tight hug.
“Oh my God… Vivian… what happened to you?” She gently stroked my back, offering what little comfort she could, though it did nothing to mend my shattered heart.
I sobbed, wiping my tears with the back of my hand. Summer looked at me with sympathy and helped wipe away the remaining tears.
I tried to calm myself before speaking. Summer watched me intently, waiting.
“Sophia and Adrian,” I began, bracing myself. “They betrayed me. In our bed... They…” My voice trembled, and my words trailed off, “They didn’t even look guilty… they justified what they did. I’m broken, Summer. There’s nothing left for me.”
Summer’s eyes widened in shock. “Have they lost their minds? How could they do something so cruel to you?”
I shook my head. My tears refused to stop.
“I’ve asked Adrian for a divorce,” I told her. “I need a lawyer who can help me with my case, Summer. Adrian won’t let this slide easily. That’s why… I came here. Do you know a lawyer who can help me?”
“I don’t know any lawyers personally, but my uncle does. I’ll give you his phone number, and you can ask for his help,” Summer said. Noticing the hesitation on my face, she quickly added, “Don’t worry. You can trust him with your case. Or, if you prefer, I can arrange a meeting for you. All you have to do is show up.”
I paused, feeling a bit unsure. But I had no other choice.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to trouble your uncle,” I said to her.
Summer shook her head. “He’s a good man, though he has a bit of a temper. I promise he can help you with his lawyer friend. Trust me,” she assured me.
“Thank you, Summer.”
I felt a small sense of relief after confiding in Summer. Right now, she was the only friend I could truly trust. The rest were nothing but illusions—people who could betray me at any moment.
The next day, I prepared to meet Summer’s uncle at his company. She had informed me beforehand that he was willing to help me through his lawyer friend. They were close.
I was grateful that they were willing to assist me.
Even though I was nervous, I tried to remain calm as I stepped into the grand and luxurious lobby of Wilder Group. Everything there looked incredibly expensive.
Just by looking at the company building, I could already tell that Summer’s uncle was extremely wealthy. He probably had enough assets to last for generations.
Wait, what was his name again?
I had forgotten it.
Kai Wilder Reyes?
I wondered what he looked like.
He must be an impressive man. But Summer had warned me that he had a terrible temper.
I just hoped I would be okay with that.
"Excuse me. I would like to meet Mr. Reyes," I approached the receptionist nervously.
"May I ask your name, Miss?"
"Vivian Rosendale."
She typed something on her computer before glancing at me with a small smile.
"Miss Rosendale, please proceed to the top floor. Mr. Reyes is expecting you in his office."
I quickly made my way to the top floor as instructed. I found a room with large doors, knocked a few times, and heard a voice inviting me in. I entered the room.
My eyes widened in horror as I looked at the two men inside. One of them was disturbingly familiar.
He grinned at me. A victorious grin that made my skin crawl.
My body froze.
I wasn’t seeing things. He was the man I had slept with last night!
My one-night stand!
How was this happening?
"Miss Rosendale?" The other man quickly stood up and greeted me, snapping me out of my shock.
"Oh, uh, yes..."
He approached me and extended his hand. A dimple appeared when he smiled.
"I’ve been expecting you."
"You..."
"I’m Willem Vermeer, the lawyer handling your divorce," he said.
My heart stopped for a second. My hand felt as cold as ice as I shook his.
Not because I was shocked by the man in front of me, but because of the undeniable fact that the man I had slept with last night was none other than Summer’s uncle!
Kai Wilder Reyes.
Of all the crazy things that could happen, how did I end up sleeping with my best friend’s uncle?
"Oh, and him... I assume you already know him, right?" Willem glanced at Kai, who was now standing beside him. "He’s Kai Wilder Reyes. Summer’s uncle. My best friend."
My mouth went dry, and even my hands felt numb. My world crumbled as my head spun.
Kai extended his hand toward me, a wicked smirk on his lips.
"So, Miss Rosendale," he said, amusement lacing his voice, "It seems you enjoy asking for my help, don’t you?"
(Vivian’s POV)My hands were ice-cold as I sat on the sofa, directly across from Kai. Meanwhile, Willem sat beside him. The conversation continued, but I couldn't control my nervousness.Kai kept staring at me like I was his prey, ready to be devoured. His gaze was sharp, piercing, and dominant, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. His presence alone made it impossible for me to focus, even though this discussion was supposed to be about my divorce."Do you know how long they've been having an affair?" Willem asked in a calm, gentle voice.I shook my head. "I only found out last night. I have no idea how long they’ve been betraying me behind my back."I bit my lip, my hands gripping the edge of the sofa anxiously. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Kai smirking at me.Is he mocking me?"What about evidence of the affair? Do you have any?"Once again, I shook my head. There were so many things I didn't know about Adrian and Sophia's betrayal. Just thinking about it made my blood
(Vivian’s POV)I stiffened, my breath catching in my throat. I want you, Vivian. The way he said it, slow and deliberate, sent a chill down my spine.Kai’s fingers rested lightly under my chin, forcing me to meet his intense gaze. His touch wasn’t rough, but it held power—an unspoken authority that made my stomach twist with unease.I swallowed hard. "You… you don't even know me," I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper. He tilted his head, amusement flickering in his dark eyes. "I know enough. The interested woman who got my attention in the bar.”I shook my head while gulping down my saliva, trying to pull away, but his grip tightened just slightly, a silent warning."You're a desperate woman," he continued, his voice smooth like silk. "You're vulnerable. And right now, you need someone who can turn the tables in your favor. That’s where I come in."I gritted my teeth. "And in exchange? What exactly do you expect from me, Kai?"His smirk widened. "A loyalty."I frowned.
(Vivian’s POV)"Alright, wait a while longer, I'll call you to tell you about the next meeting. I have to check my schedule first."Before I could answer, Kai had already hung up the call arbitrarily. My lips parted, and my forehead furrowed at his rather uncaring attitude.Even so, he was the only help who was truly visible and convinced that he could save me.Alright, I just need to wait for him for a little while longer.I glanced down at my cell phone in front of me on the table. My fingers tapped on it as if every second that ticked meant something."What took him so long to call me back?" I wondered. My patience felt very thin just waiting for him. Was he really that busy? Was his schedule packed? Then, finally, my cell phone rang. Kai's name was clearly displayed on my screen. I found myself pounding, breathing in and out with nerves."Hello," I greeted."Meet me at the Véda Luxe hotel the day after tomorrow night. We'll talk about our deal there."I gulped at the word 'hotel.'
(Vivian’s POV)The long-awaited day finally arrived. I had also moved apartments, so of course, all this felt new.The meeting with Kai will be soon, and the new apartment seems like the universe is really supporting me in my effort to win against Adrian.I'm standing in front of the mirror after finishing my shower. I pulled out some of the best dresses, and they were quite sexy.I don't know why I had to choose a sexy dress when I could have chosen a normal one.But I remembered Kai's words, that he wanted me to wear the best dress I had. After I choose a dress that makes me look sexy, elegant and classy, I sit on the dressing table chair.I makeup my face as naturally as possible, always remembering to use red lipstick to create a bold and defiant impression.Damn, I don't know what I was thinking, but I didn't want to back out or change my appearance. Not yet met, I was already this nervous, arranging myself in the mirror while swallowing a few times."I wonder what he'll think if
(Vivian’s POV).“WHAT?!”I choked on my own food until I gagged after hearing his question.Kai immediately handed me a glass of mineral water, and I sipped. “Drink first. It’s an adult topic but you’re so surprised about it.”I just looked at him through the side of my eye when I drank the water. How could he say that so easily? At that time, I couldn’t believe that Kai would ask such a vulgar question. I knew the deal that would be discussed was definitely in that direction, but couldn’t he have waited for a while until the food was finished?Damn...He just makes my heart pound. There was no way I could act normal after he said those things.Like, seriously? My favourite style for sex? I would say woman on to,p but I wouldn’t answer it now. It would embarrass me so badly. He didn't even look embarrassed about his question; instead, he was relaxed and still enjoying his meal. Meanwhile, I had to behave normally like before because I was embarrassed by her question.“I assume you alre
(Vivian’s POV)“If you’re done, we’ll go to my penthouse,” he said.My eyes blinked at the word penthouse. I had assumed that he and I would be doing it here at the hotel soon because when he invited me to meet him at a hotel, that was the first thing that came to my mind.It turned out I had embarrassed myself with my thoughts. My mind had started to wander in a more inappropriate direction.“Yes, I’m done. Thank you for dinner.”He nodded, and then we left the hotel restaurant after he paid the entire bill.So far, he still treated me the same way as before—holding the car door open for me and always letting me walk ahead of him. This kind of behaviour was completely unexpected, especially considering his views on love and marriage. The journey to his penthouse felt incredibly long. He didn’t say a word, and I had no intention of starting a conversation either. But finally, we arrived.Honestly, my heart was pounding. Images of something wet and hot filled my mind again. I tried to
(Vivian’s POV)"AH! Kai..."I moaned feeling his hands already touching parts of my body. In fact, I was already lying on the sofa I was sitting on, and Kai was already on top of me.He was in the middle of my thighs, while his hands were gently caressing my thighs. His touch was addictive,e and it was the first time I didn't want to take his hands off my body.He even kept licking my lips, as if there was no end to it, leaving wetness there time and time again. Then his finger started to slide into mine, playing there back and forth, giving an explosive sensation that I really couldn't stand."Kai... Hmm...""Let me know if you want it, Vivian."I looked at him with my sweet eyes and nodded. "Yes, I want to."He didn't say anything after that, but then he slid another finger in and started moving in and out of my body slowly. In between his finger movements, he sucked on my nipples, my heart was pounding because his gesture was really sweet and very gentle. His lips then returned to
(POV Kai)At that moment, I found myself recalling how I first met Vivian. She caught my attention when I saw her looking so miserable at the bar—alone and completely dejected.Someone or something had hurt her, and I knew that for sure. I was quite familiar with how women acted when they were frustrated, especially when it came to love.In fact, many women were betrayed, and it seemed like the percentage reached 90 per cent worldwide."She’s very interesting," I muttered, smirking.Especially when she mistook me for the gigolo she had hired, it sounded ridiculous, but at the time, I was curious—what would make a woman go so far as to hire a gigolo?Back then, I even let her be aggressive, allowing her to think I was really her gigolo. She was fully prepared to pay me for one night of satisfaction.Truthfully, I did enjoy that night. After just one time with her, she became addicted. Then one day, Summer called and told me that the woman I had slept with was her friend.I was shocked
(Vivian’s POV)I twirled the spatula and smiled with satisfaction as the aroma of garlic and butter filled the kitchen. The chicken I'd mixed with rosemary and lemon was now golden on the pan, its skin beginning to crisp. In the next pot, the fettuccine pasta was almost perfectly cooked, ready to be topped with the mushroom cream sauce I'd made from scratch. It's not too complicated, but it's enough to show a little care. At least I didn't let him starve after... What happened this morning?"It's like he never looks really tired. Last night we did, then this morning and... after he came back from his morning run... he really looked fit and energetic."I couldn't lie to myself that I was lulled by the charisma he showed unintentionally. If I'm being honest, maybe this liking is already in the middle stage, but I don't know how it will end, I'm just resigned."Damn it, Vivian! Focus on your goals! Take back your assets and get a divorce from your bastard husband!" I reminded myself agai
(Vivian’s POV)"What are you looking at?" asked Kai in his husky voice that was still laced with the remnants of that intimacy.I looked down, realising how long I had been staring at his face without saying anything. Our bodies were still entwined, my skin pressed against his chest that was warm and damp with sweat. My hands wrapped around his neck, while my hair fell messily over his shoulders.I was on top of him, still holding him tightly as if I was afraid he would disappear. But of course I didn't want to show those feelings."Your face," I replied softly, then smiled a little. "I don't usually get to see you from this angle."Kai chuckled softly. "You sound like an artist observing the object of her painting.""Maybe," I replied teasingly. But actually... There was something else that had been occupying my mind for some time. Something that I haven't had the chance to ask yet, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to hold back as my curiosity grows."Kai," I called softly.
(Vivian’s POV)This time I woke up again from sleep after Kai and I had morning sex in the kitchen. Even though it's still fairly early, it seems like I was exhausted after that, so I fell asleep again. It's just that I don't remember how he ended up taking me to the room again, but it seems like it just happened when lust was all I thought about."Where is he?" I looked to my side, where I didn't see Kai.I thought he went to sleep after that, but he wasn't there. I don't know where he went, so I got out of bed, put on his oversized white plain T-shirt with socks to keep me warm because it was cold.I tied my hair up randomly and walked out of the room, looking around for him.His penthouse was too big for me, because when I tried to find him, I didn't find him. I didn't know where he was going this morning. Because I could see his car out there.I then stood in the middle of the deserted living room, which really emphasised my existence alone. The cool morning air brushed against my
(Vivian’s POV)I haven't answered him yet, because I still want to enjoy his kiss. It doesn't matter if I haven't answered yet, right? Besides, it doesn't matter if I'm lulled by his kisses for now, right?Kai's kiss deepened, his lips caressing every inch of my skin with passion, but also tenderness. There was no hurried movement, no blind lust. He liked me as if I were the most precious thing he had ever touched. But I knew he only liked me as his toy for sex. His hands trailed down my back slowly, making my skin shudder. My breath came in slow gasps, while my heart pounded in my chest.Kai lifted my body, carrying me into the room without taking his eyes off me."Hold on," he said softly.I nodded, wrapping my arms around his neck. Somehow, the night felt so calm like the world stopped spinning just for the two of us.Once we got to the room, Kai laid me down carefully on his bed.The dim lamplight made everything feel more intimate. He looked at me for a long time, as if he was r
(Vivian’s POV)"Well, I'm back here again," I said as soon as the penthouse door opened.Kai nodded as he pressed the remote, turning on the warm lights that greeted us."Welcome back to your new home, temporarily."I swallowed. The penthouse was spacious, minimalist, and luxurious, just as I had described it. Every corner looked neat and organised in a very masculine way-like the owner.Kai put my suitcase in the living room. "Just put your clothes in my room, it'll be easier for you."I frowned. "Your room? I thought I'd be in the guest room.""Yes." He looked at me casually. "We sleep in the same room, Vivian. I have to make sure you're by my side before I go to sleep and when I wake up."I was frozen in place, but at the same time, I was embarrassed, and my heart was beating violently again."I thought we would... sleep separately.""According to the contract, too, we will be in the same bed even though I have many rooms; you have to sleep in my room," he said lightly as he walked
(Vivian’s POV)."I'll take you home, Vivian."Kai's voice sounded soft yet firm, as if he didn't accept rejection. I just nodded slowly, still feeling the chill of residual fear shivering on my skin.On the way home, he didn't say much. But the silence between us wasn't emptiness, but a soothing calm. It was as if his very existence was a refuge. When I arrived at my apartment, Kai opened the door and let me in first. He followed, then without being asked, immediately went to the kitchen and poured me a glass of water."Drink this first," he said, thrusting the glass into my hand.I stared at it, then accepted it with hands that were still a little shaky. But Kai's calmness made me slowly relax."Thank you," I said with a weak smile.Without speaking, he took the first aid kit from the shelf near the refrigerator, then sat down in front of me."Let me check your wound."I nodded slowly. Kai touched my arm very carefully, applying antiseptic on the small scratch I had received while tr
(Vivian’s POV)."FUCK!" Kai's voice exploded, and in an instant, he slammed into Adrian's body, sending him crashing to the floor.Mercilessly, Kai pinned him down and smashed his fist into Adrian's face repeatedly. "You think you can just touch her?! I warned you already, asshole!""How dare you touch Vivian! I'll kill you, Adrian!" His fist flew again, hard and angry.Blood started dripping from Adrian's nose, but Kai didn't stop. Another fist smashed into his jaw, followed by a kick to the side of his stomach as Adrian tried to escape on all fours. My body was shaking so badly, even the air felt too sharp for me to breathe. My breathing faltered, my eyes still blurry with tears that had not yet fallen completely. My shirt was torn at the shoulders and chest, rudely opened by the hands that once swore to take care of me.I sat rooted to the floor of the studio, my back pressed coldly against the display rack, hugging myself. Then, the sound of a loud crash echoed. Kai banged Adrian
(Vivian’s POV)"Let go of me! Let go of me! You've crossed the line, Adrian!""And you thought I'd actually stop after that asshole's threats?!"My heart was pounding, nervous and scared. He really didn't think about Kai's threats, as if he wasn't afraid of him and seemed to defy him."You have no right to my life, Adrian! We're over!""We're not over! Not yet until the court decides our divorce!""And we will be divorced! You will be completely separated from me! Let go of me!" I yelled out loud to him.I thrashed when my body was completely locked by Adrian so firmly. He was so angry with me, and it was actually common for me to be treated roughly like this by him when he was angry. It's just that this time, of course, I won't stand still and surrender."Answer me! How did you know him and what is your relationship?!"His eyes glared like demons as he stared at me, shaking me as he demanded an answer to his question."It's none of your business who I want to be friends with and get
(Vivian's POV)"Thank you for taking the time for me, Summer," I said before we finally parted ways. "It really means a lot to have you as my friend."She nodded. "Hey, I should be the one thanking you. At least we got to spend some time together, even if it was just for coffee.""You're right. I'm happy to see you, to share stories with you.""Call me whenever you need me. You know I'm always here for you."I nodded, and after we hugged, she got into her car and drove away. I watched her leave with a deep sigh of relief.Honestly, I felt bad for Summer. She had no idea what was really going on—about my uncle and me. I should have told her from the start, but I needed to ask Kai first, to make sure he was okay with it. But... of course, I had to consider it carefully.I felt incredibly guilty for not being honest when talking about my problems.Hiding the fact that I had to pay Kai for his services as a sex partner—just the thought of Summer finding out terrified me.I didn’t know wha
