Shane turned to look at Haley with raised eyebrows. "Talk about what?"

"Work, of course. Although he's very capable, having him around is a liability," she replied.

She still had not figured out what William was up to. His presence felt like a ticking time bomb, ready to go off at any moment.

Shane nodded. "You can handle this as you see fit, but try not to be alone with him. His personality has always been extreme."

Passing by a breakfast shop, Shane parked the car and went to buy some breakfast, handing it to Haley. The warmth of the food in her hand made her feel cared for and loved. She smiled softly and took a bite of the sandwich.
