After the last interviewee left, it was already dark outside. Haley rubbed her sore neck and glanced at her phone, noticing several missed calls from Shane. Even without seeing them, she could sense his anxiety. Feeling a bit guilty, she quickly dialed back.

The call was promptly answered, and a deep, husky voice sounded on the other end, "Haley?"

There was no complaint, no anger. Just a calm and gentle tone that felt familiar yet distant. Haley's heart swelled with a strange feeling as she replied softly, "Um, Mr. Ford, I'm sorry. I've been busy all day, and my phone was on silent."

"It's okay. Are you done? I'm outside your company."

Haley's heart skipped a beat, and she rushed out, phone in hand. "Mr. Ford, just wait for me. I'll be right there."

Shane's voice was calm, almost soothing. "Don't rush. I'm not going anywhere."

In the elevator, Haley pressed the button for the ground floor, her eyes fixed on the changing display numbers.
