"Shortcake, I have a key for every room in this house." He smirked at me.

My eyes grew at the revelation. I glared at him. "That's an invasion of privacy you snake. And don't call me shortcake."

"You call me cheesecake, I am going to call you shortcake." He nodded at me, his smirk only growing the harder I glared. "Because you're short."

"Get out." I ordered, pointing at the door.

"Aww come on shortcake. Don't be like that." He whined.

I growled at him as I flung myself on top of my pillow. I ignored the cold as my blankets were now in a clump by Cassar's feet.

"Why are you even hear?" I whined.

"We are going to go for a run." Cassar told me.

"A what?" I blanked.

"A run." He said slower. "Go outside, enjoy nature, get some exercise."

"You mean to tell me, that you woke me up ridiculously early to run?"

Cass gave me a flat look. "Yes."

"No."

"What?"

"I'm not going."

Cassar growled. "You're going to come with me if you like it or not. So will you be leaving here with or without your dig

I was not going to be shifting anytime soon. I really didn't feel like being murdered today."No.""What now?" He asked, his patience running thin."I'm not shifting." I said, jutting out my hip.If he found out I was the Silver Fox, I would for sure be skinned alive. Wolves didn't exactly appreciate my skill set and experience."Why?""Because I can't shift." I lied."Shortcake, again with the lying?""I don't want to shift.""You have not shifted since you got here. Are you not dying to run in fox form?"I was, a little. But I still wasn't shifting."Okay, okay, okay. The truth is, for someone to see my fox form, it's like a blessing. And I'm sorry but you just don't make the cut." I told him honestly. He gave me a flat look. He was about to respond when we heard three wolves walking over to us.Before getting too close to us the wolves went behind some trees and shifted into three males. When they came back out each of them were wearing a pair of pants."Alpha Cassar." The male in

"You're mine." Cassar growled, ignoring his cousin."I'm not yours! Last time I checked, you can't own a person.""That's what mates are. The only person you do own. I own you and you own me.""You just proved my point. You don't own me because I am not your mate."Cassar rolled his eyes, not even bothering to acknowledge me.I looked around noticing that the other males had started to flee from the situation. Aiden turned slightly to wink at me before he shifted into his own grey wolf."What happened to the intruder?" I asked Cassar. Why was it so important to keep this intruder a secret?Cassar's face turned grave. "Do you know many foxes?""Why?""The intruder is a fox."My body froze for a mili-second. "And?""Did he come for you, or is it just a coincidence?"I doubted it was a coincidence, but was it something for me to worry about?"What colour of hair?""Pardon?" Cassar asked."What colour of hair does he have?" I asked again."Red.""Then I don't care.""You don't care?""If

"What's out there Vienna?" Jazmine asked, her voice small but brave.I quickly risked a glance at her. Her eyes were cautious, glancing around the tree line as she held onto her sister's and Oro's hands.Quietly, I whispered to her. "When I tell you, Jazmine and Lucas grab the little kids and run for home. You find someone and get somewhere safe.""What are you going to do?" Lucas whispered."Do you understand me?" I asked seriously. There was no way these kids were getting hurt today.I cursed the fact I hadn't noticed sooner. I was too trusting that Cassar's land was safe enough for me to let my guard down. I should have known better. If I could get around the guards, others could too.I didn't let my thoughts distract me though as I gave another warning growl. This one not quite as gutsy as the last. This time, another growl answered mine.I glared at the trees, the exact spot I knew he was hiding.I gave a final look at the kids before I stood up straight. I rolled my shoulders, a

Turning my hands into my claws. I jumped upon the twin who wanted turn those kids into soup. He only had time to take one step back before my claws were over his neck spilling blood. With a thud his knees hit the ground. He desperately tried clawing at his throat as the blood poured out. Then he fell forward. Laying on the ground motionless. Dead. His brother didn't even move, shocked and staring at the body of his dead twin.I didn't always resort to killing but desperate times call for desperate measures. And I don't think anyone would be missing these two."What did you do?" The living brother whispered, still staring at the body. "What did you do?""I killed him, what does it look like?" I asked, inspecting my bloodied nails."He was my brother." Then he looked at me, shouting at the top of his lungs. "That was my brother.""Well look on the bright side. Now you get the half brain all to yourself." I mocked him. That's all it took for him to lung at me. Roaring at the top of his l

Two weeks. It had been two weeks since I met a couple of rogues in the woods. And nothing had changed. I was no closer to figuring out how to break the stupid blood-tie.The only good news was that I was finally able to move my shoulder. Apparently the rogue did some serious damage, but thanks to my shifter healing I didn't have to worry to much. But according to Cassar, I still wasn't allowed to do anything strenuous. Which was fine by me, I wasn't planning on it anyways. The only plans on my agenda was to destroy a blood-tie. And I was trying.I had spoken to almost every wolf on the territory, and nothing. Nobody knew what to do, not that they would give that information up freely. Still nothing.I had scoured the packs library for anything that could be related to blood-ties, but nothing came up. I even tried googling it. The only thing that came up was a séance, and everyone knew that was a load of crap.I attempted to trick Cassar into telling me how to break it, but he wouldn't

"Because your such a prick." I laughed. Cassar rolled his eyes, but the corners of his lips twitched up."Where are you from?" He asked. And there it is. The hard questions."Mexico." I lied.He snagged the jar away from me. "No peanut butter for lying.""Nacido y criado en Mexico. Lo juro." I cried out in Spanish, trying to grab the peanut butter jar from him.Cassar gave me a weird look, not understanding."I said, born and raised in Mexico. I swear." I translated for the knuckle head.He kept the jar away from me. His eyes unblinking. "You're not from Mexico."It was a joke, I obviously wasn't born and raised in Mexico, but still I cried in agony over my peanut butter. He still didn't submit."Fine," I huffed giving in. "I'm from Uganda, Africa."Cassar came closer to me, his face directly in front of mine. A teasing smile on his lips. "Now Vienna, do we have to have a chat about lying?""Ni kweli ingawa." I said in Swahili, a pout on my lips. "It's true though."He smiled at my at

Cassar was about to say somewhere when he was interrupted. And he couldn't even be mad about it."Vienna, do you know a lot of foxes?" Jazmine asked, thankfully changing the topic.I looked down at her, shaking my head. "Not really, I know more wolves then foxes. How come?""Oh." She said looking disappointed. "I was hoping you knew the Silver Fox."I had to force myself into not choking on the peanut butter. Forcing myself not to show any emotion."I've heard of her." I told Jazmine honestly. I had definitely heard of the Silver Fox."Did you know the Silver Fox saved the Alpha's life?" Remy popped up, her face covered in peanut butter."Really?" I asked, schooling my face into shock."Yeah, but Alpha says that one good deed doesn't fix a thousand." Remy said, quoting her alpha who nodded his head approvingly at her. That was why nobody was allowed to know I was the Silver Fox. A thousand bad deeds makes a lot of enemies."Did you know she was banished from the other foxes?" Jazmine

Her face became dark and she thought. She gave a soft growl. "I'm glad they're dead. Rogues are nothing but dirt under your shoes."I looked up at her cautiously, not sure what to do about her bitter anger. I decided to speak up, it wasn't really my thing to stay quite anyways."Don't get me wrong, those rogues were the bottom of the barrel. In fact I'm kind of bummed that they didn't suffer longer." I started softly. "But, not all rogues are bad."She looked at me sharply, shocked at my words. "Rogues are kicked out of their pack because they did something so horrible, they are dangerous to the rest of the pack."I took a deep breath and continued. "I know a lot of rogues, and eighty percent of them don't deserve the hand they were given.""What do you mean?""Think about Harlen, she was considered a rogue. She not a bad person.""Harlen is different."I shrugged my shoulders. "A lot of rogues are different."It was true. A widowed mother and her newborn pup were banished to hide the

“So.” I smirked, looking at them expectantly. “You gonna kick me out now?”The six wolves just started laughing. And wouldn’t shut up.I looked at them expectantly. “Any day now.”“Of course not.” Vita smiled softly at me. “The longer you are here, the more you prove how much you deserve to be our Luna.”The others nodded their heads, agreeing with her.My jaw dropped.“What is wrong with you wolves?” I cried. “I mean I get Cassar still being obsessed with me. He’s a freak.”Cassar shrugged his shoulders.“But you guys? You’re supposed to be the smart ones.”The wolves just smiled softly at me.“To be honest, I didn’t want you to be our Luna.” Rose spoke up. The words surprising coming from such a sweet female. “I grew up hearing horror stories about foxes. Everyone has heard the stories of the Queen of Tricks who is driven by selfish greed.”She stared at me intensely. Her words were soft. She apologizing to me.“But then you risked your life to save those pups. You stood up to the F

The wolves jaws loosened too. No one was expecting me to offer them that kind of information.“Why would you want to help him?” Harlen scoffed icily. “He’s bottom of the barrel.”I held up a figure, stopping her. “No, that’s Cassar.”“Why?” Cassar asked. His face was serious as he considered my offer.I shrugged a shoulder. “I have my reasons.”“Not unless I know.”I clicked my tongue. “I guess you’re never going to know my secrets then.”I needed to let Baras free, but I knew it would take a lot for Cassar to agree. So I was willing to give him the second thing he wanted most. My story.Sometimes, sacrificing a little bit of yourself for someone else was necessary. But only once in a while.“Answer one question.” Cassar crossed his arms.I raised a brow, urging him on.“Is he a danger?” He asked. His question was heavy but a good one.I thought about it. “Probably.”“Then I cannot let him go.” Cassar said.“Cass, we’re shifters. We’re all dangerous.” I replied. “But if you meant to a

Days had passed and Cassar had refused to let me out of his sight. Apparently I was hazardous to and by myself. Jokes on him, I was hazardous either way.But that just meant days of staying in bed with an overprotective alpha threatening anyone who dared get close. He was more beast then man at this point.Apparently it was normal for wolves in these types of circumstances. Their instincts went way out of wack for the need to protect.I just found it annoying. The only creatures brave enough to face him was Harlen and the doctor. Aiden tried but Cassar almost bit his head off when I said I would love for Aiden to warm my bed with me.Cassar said I wasn’t as funny as I thought. It didn’t matter too much though considering the amount of drugs the doctor had me on. I could only stay awake for an hour at a time and even that was a sketchy hour. The doctor had done some serious damage, or he had fixed some serious damage according to Cassar.Either way I was out of it.Slowly I raised my a

In no time Cassar entered the pack village.Wolves lived throughout the whole territory, but the majority of the wolf families lived in the small town. Every pack had one, though Viribus’s town was bigger than others. The village looked like a normal cluster of homes. Though it was designed to give wolves privacy away from prying human eyes.If any wolf needed something they would have to travel to the closest human town for food, schooling, and more. Though every pack had a doctor who specialized in shifters.Cassar neared an old house in the pack village, not far from the pack house. It was well taken care of with white siding and blue shutters. The front door swung open, the wolves inside waiting for our arrival.A male with grey curly hair rushed forward.Cassar knelt down so the doctor could carefully pull me off of his back. His hands were solid, yet gentle. He smelt like disinfectant and evergreen. Signs of a true wolf doctor. The doctor held me up as we walked towards the pack

The female was just trying to protect her pack. She saw me as the enemy and she had the guts to do something about it. I could respect that. Even if she was all wrong about it.He didn’t say anything, an angry scowl lined his face. His eyes glazing over. Mind linking the rest of the pack.I only sat there for a moment before my brain started working again. “You’re naked.”I attempted pushing myself away from his grasp. “I’m wearing pants.”“Well do you own a shirt?”His one hand held onto my wrists, not letting me get very far. Cassar’s eyes grew twice the size as he saw all of my blood.“Where is the pack doctor?” He barked.I rolled my eyes at him, wiggling out of his grip. “I’m fine.”“No. You’re not.” He growled, running his arms along my own. Checking all of my injuries.“Yes. I am.” I told him slapping his hands away.I rolled on my ankles falling on my butt. I did my best to hide the pain.“You have to stop this.” He growled shaking his head, assessing how bad my injuries were.

Teddy was bigger and younger then her, but he was still new. They were both trained fighters, but Teddy was not as experienced. His movements weren’t sure. His attacks were not powerful enough. The older wolf used that to her advantage.I lunged my broken body forward, reaching for a piece of metal. It was jagged, thin and long. I didn’t know what part of the car it came from, but it would do.It was the only source of weapon I could find on such short notice. I cursed myself for not grabbing my gun earlier. I never learned.I almost cried in pain as I rolled to my hurt shoulder. Freeing my good arm, I took aim.The female pushed Teddy off of her. She scratched at his underbelly. Fur flew all over the place as they wrestled.“Teddy, down.” I screamed at him.In one fluid motion he dropped to the ground. The female was shocked as I sent the metal flying towards her rib cage. This time, it didn’t go through the target. The piece of metal lodged itself between two of her ribs. She howled

A weak smile spread across my cracked lips at the realization. I no longer had dark spots lining my vision. Vile wasn’t rising from my throat. My body didn’t feel like it was being pulled back to a certain asshole alpha.I had broken the blood-tie. It must have snapped during the crash. It’s only unfortunate that I crashed the car before I could get even further.I would have done a maniacal laugh if my rib cage wasn’t in my throat. The forest was now deadly calm. Any animals around would have already run for the hills from the Ferrari loosing control.I shuddered at the scene in front of me. Fallen trees littered the ground. The fast car had been pulverized into nothing. Pieces of the vehicle flown about the crash site. Glass littered the forest floor.I had to get out of here before Cassar killed me just for hurting his trees.I struggled to sit up. My muscles screamed at me to stay where I was. I spit out some blood that pooled in my mouth.I almost vomited at the sight of myself.
