Chapter five.

I dialed Sloan's number one more time hoping he would answer this time but it was the same, it kept ringing but he didn't answer. That would make it the thirteenth time this week, since our dinner a week ago I haven't been able to reach him. 

He stopped visiting his mom's pizza shop and she said he hardly answered her calls either. I told Naomi and she tried calling him too but he didn't answer.

"You said you told him you were pregnant last week right?"

"Yeah and he said he was okay with it. I'm just worried, I hope he's okay."

"You hope he's okay?, I'm saying what if he's avoiding you because of it?"

"He wouldn't do that, he loves me. He told me he'll always be there for me when I need him."

"Yeah well where is he now?"

"Let's not jump to conclusions."

"Yes, let's not do that. Instead let's go and find out for ourselves."

"How?"

"We'll go to the hospital he works and confront him."

"What if we're wrong?"

"We can always apologise, but I don't like seeing you this way."

"Okay, we'll go. We can still go today right?"

"Of course, it's still pretty early.

We set out for northern view hospital and when we got there, I was awe struck. It was really huge, I've been to a couple of hospitals but I've never seen one like it. When we went it, it felt like I wasn't on Earth anymore. It was the most beautiful place I've ever seen, the interior design was amazing, everything was white and sparkling, even the people there looked different. 

I had completely lost track of the reason we were here until I saw a familiar face. His eyes widened when he saw me, he turned immediately to avoid me seeing him and started to walk away.

"Look Naomi he's getting away."

"No he's not."

She started to run after him and I followed. "Wait for me.!" He kept running despite the fact that we were calling his name and he didn't stop till we eventually caught up to him when he got to the elevator. "Sloan!" I called breathless as I stopped and he turned to face me.

"Hey, what're you doing here?"

"Why did you run from me?"

"When?"

"Are you trying to say you didn't see me?"

"I didn't, I would never run from you hazel."

"Bullshit." Naomi said. "You saw us, then you started running. Even let's assume you didn't see us, didn't you hear us either?"

"Okay fine, I saw you."

"Then why'd you run?"

"It's because I was scared."

"Scared, because I'm pregnant?"

"You know it's a whole new level, taking care of a baby."

"Have I ever taken care of a baby?, If you're scared then what am I supposed to do?"

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that. It was very immature of me and I promise to change."

"It's okay." He hugged me and I was able to relax, all these while I was scared he was going to break up with me but the fact that he apologized made me happy.

"I see that you no longer need me so I'll take my leave, I'll see you at home." Naomi said and walked away leaving me alone with Sloan.

We talked for a while before he had to go back to work. "I'm sorry but they need me in the OR."

"It's okay, you can go back to work. I'll see myself out." He got in the elevator and I turned to leave. I had almost gotten to the entrance when someone bumped into me. "I'm sorry." I said to be polite but the person just said ok.

"Okay?, That's it?"

He stopped in his tracks and turned to me. "Then what?, Were you expecting I'm sorry?"

"Um duh. I mean you bumped into me."

"No, I believe it was the other way around."

"I even apologized hoping you'd do the same, but instead all I get is okay?, That's really rude."

"Do you have any idea who I am?" He put his hands in his pocket like I'm supposed to recognize him.

"Do I look like I give a fuck?. I'm asking for an apology and you're asking if I know who you are."

"You're really starting to get on my nerves you know that?"

"Ooh I'm so scared. What're you going to do?, Are you going to hit me?"

"Would you keep your mouth shut?" He raised his voice and some people passing started to stare at us.

"What would you do if I don't?!" 

"Hazel!." Sloan called from behind the rude guy. He rushed to stand in front of me and bowed his head in apology. "I'm sorry sir, she didn't know who you were that's why she behaved like that." He just nodded and walked away and Sloan turned to me. "Why would you do that?"

"What?, He bumped into me and didn't even apologise."

"He's my boss, his father owns this hospital. Do you want me to loose my job?!"

"I'm sorry I didn't know who he was."

"Still, you shouldn't have reacted like that. You should try to learn to control your temper!."

"I said I was sorry why are you still yelling at me?!"

"I'm sorry. You should get going now."

"Fine, but you better call me."

"Sure I will."

"Good." I kissed him but he abruptly ended the kiss. "What's wrong?, You don't want anyone to see us together?."

"Don't be silly. We shouldn't be doing this kind of thing at work."

"Okay, I'm leaving."

"See you later."

"Yeah later."

He didn't call or text that day but he texted the next day, he asked me out on a date. He said he hasn't been a good boyfriend and he wants to make amends, he promised that no one would ever come between us and that if I called and he didn't answer, I should understand that it's work and nothing else.

He also asked me to pick a date when we should visit dad and tell him we're having a baby. I was overjoyed, the thought of Sloan and I having a baby made me happy. Whenever I thought about the fact that I was pregnant, I didn't feel scared or sad anymore because I had Sloan.
