I was anxiously pacing the apartment as I waited for Jake to get back. He had to text me to say he was on his way home. I did smile when he wrote the word home in the text. But right now, I was just hoping he would be OK after seeing Lauren because he mentioned she was there.
I hear the front door open and go to give him a hand in with his things. I noticed the redness of his cheek.
“She slapped you again, didn’t she?” I hissed.
