Chapter 5

'tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk'

The sound of knocking wake me up.  My head very dizzy because woke up suddenly.  I turn on the lamp on the table.  Yellow light fills the room.  The eyes squint to adjust to the light.  There's no one here.  Could it be that I'm dreaming? I think so.

 'tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk'

When I will to continue sleeping, the knocking sound reappeared.  Now I'm sure it wasn't a dream.  Oh God, say if that his boy again.  What is Kevin doing in the middle of the night?  I opened the window.  Cold air hit the face.

"Kevin! Kevin!"  I shouted in a whisper.  Afraid Mommy and Daddy will hear.

"Kevin, where are you? This isn't funny at all."

 (silence)

 'knock-knock'

The voice appeared again, this time not outside.  But in the room.  I headed for the door.  Maybe Mommy.  I quickly locked the window and turned to open the door.

 "Mom!"

 (silence)

 "Mom, are you here?"

 (silence)

"Dad?"

(silence)

There is only a dark alley.  I look around.  Hoping to find what or who the reason of the knock.  But if I had to choose, I'd like to see 'what's did it'.  Not 'who did it'.

Silence.  The knock didn't appear again.  I closed the door again and locked it.  Then go to bed for back to sleep.  There's no point in paying attention to stupid knocking sounds.  Continuing my disturbed sleep.  This time I try to think positively.  Okay, maybe it's some kind of lizard or animal that managed to break in.  Then look for prey and make a sound.  That's the logical reason.  Might as well be right.

 'knock-knock-knock'

The voice is came back.  This time I know where it came from. From the mirror.  The knocking got louder.  The mirror vibrates.  As if anything it wanted to break out.

I'm getting scared.  This is impossible.  Or maybe there's something in the cupboard?  But what?

The longer the mirror the more it shows an entity.  Like being in a mirror.  Now the entity is clearly displayed in front of me.  Horrible.  His two eyes were bright red.  Small holes clustered covering the face.  The neck is longer than it should be.  No ears.  The mouth is elongated on both cheeks with many irregular fangs.  Knees bend inward like an animal's.  Long arms to the knees.  Sharp fingernails.  About two meters high, but a bit stooped.  What's even more terrifying, is that his entire body displays muscles like they have been peeled off.  Drops of blood out of the body as if to replace the function of sweat.

 'PRANGGGG!!'

Scattered broken glass.  A fishy smell wafts through the room.  My breath was tight.  I didn't even realize when the tears came out.  The voice was muffled without being able to scream.  Just shaking my head is all I can do.  Mommy ... Daddy... Please, help me!

 He's getting closer.

 Closer.

 Close.

He touched my neck.  I really want to get out of here.  But let alone running, the slightest move can not be done.  His touch turned into a grip.  Sick .  I want to throw up.  This strangulation is extremely painful.  His sharp nails stuck in my neck.  I'm having a hard time breathing.  He pointed his fingers to the right.  His index finger approached me.  No!  He pointed at my eyes.  No!  Please!  Don't do that!

 'crasshhh'

I opened my eyes out of breath.  It's a dream.  Just a dream.  I look around and touch my eyes.  There's no one in here and my eyes still fine.  The lights are still on.  The mirror glass is still intact.  The time is 02:37 AM.  I cried silently.  After feeling calm, I went back to sleep.

Breakfast is served at the dining table.  Three slices of bacon sandwiches neatly arranged.  So are three glasses of milk.

 "Hoaaaammm!"  I yawned loudly.

"Beverly, are you still sleepy?"  Mommy asked with a smile.

"I had a nightmare last night. I didn't sleep well."

"Would you like to take the day off today?"  Dad asked, munching on a sandwich.

 "No, Dad."

 'cling'

A text message from Alex took me by surprise.

 *

 'tap-tap-tap'

I climbed the school stairs in a hurry.

 'crack'

A bespectacled student bumped into me, "Oh my God. I'm sorry."

"It's ok," I said with a smile.  Even though my heart was really cursing.  Oh, shit!  Why did be happen when I should hurry up?

That's Alex.  He was locking his locker and was about to leave.

"Alex!"  I waved.  He turned around.

 "Alex, what's going on?"

His face looked worried, "Sarra is missing."

 "Who's telling you?"

 "Helen."

 "Where is she?"

 "At Sarra's house."

 "How can it be?"

"Why do you ask me?  I don't know."

I invite Alex to go to Sarra's house right now.  I don't care if the teacher found out that we were absent today.  Alex must be happy, because he's about to miss a chemistry class that makes his brain spin.

Sarra's house looks deserted, there are only two cars parked in the yard.  Before we could knock on the door, Helen came out with Mr.  Weaselton.  The old man looked gloomy, a look of sadness on his face.  Of course, which parent wouldn't be saddened to learn that their only child had disappeared without a trace.  We greet Mr.  Weaselton, he's quite a friendly man even though his smile looks forced to hide his sadness.

Alex was just about to ask about the news of Sarra's disappearance, but Helen cut Alex's words by saying goodbye to go home to Mr.  Weaselton.  We also promised him to try to help find Sarra until found her.

Helen approached Alex and me.  She invited us to go somewhere.  Helen got into her white car.  We smiled at Mr.  Weaselton before leaving.  There was no conversation between Alex and I as we followed where Helen took her car.  We were completely lost in each other's thoughts, or maybe it was just me thinking.  While Alex is concentrating on driving.

Helen stopped the car beside Roover Park.  I'm not sure why she chose this place.  Could it be that she often comes here when she's sad?  This park is very quiet.  I don't know if it's really quiet or just quiet on a certain days.

She got out of the car and headed for a seat under a tree.  Alex and I walked over to Helen and sat in front of her.  It looked like tears were running down her cheeks.  I moved to sit next to Helen and held her shoulder.  Hope this helps, although I'm honestly not sure.

"Hey.  What's going on with Sarra?”

Helen looked at me and started talking.  Sarra and Helen have been friends for a long time, even before meeting Kevin, Alex and Henry.  They've been through a lot together, though sometimes fights also add spice to their friendship.  That was the reason why she was devastated when she found out that Sarra had disappeared.  Helen also helped Sarra regain her zest for life when her mom died of cancer.  Until a few days Helen stayed at Sarra's house to accompany her.

Helen is getting ready to go to school.  Just got into the car, her phone ringing because incoming calls. The name of Mr.  Watson on screen.  After getting the news, she immediately drove the car at high speed towards Sarra's house.  Mr.  Weaselton sat down with a confused look on his face.  Usually Sarra wakes up earlier than him, but not this morning.  Without suspicion, Mr.  Weaselton thought maybe his daughter was up too late.  She took a shower and prepared breakfast.  But Sarra still hasn't come down even though the clock has almost shown 6 AM.

Several times he called Sarra's name but there was no answer.  Feeling worried because his daughter is not usually like this, Mr.  Weaselton immediately went up to wake Sarra.  Beta is surprised when she finds Sarra's room very messy.  The bed lamp was broken, the window glass was also broken, the bed was messy, the books were scattered and the study chair was lying in the corner.  It was as if something had happened in the room. Strangely, he not hear anything last night. Mr.  Weaselton immediately called the police for help.  There was nothing he could do at this point.  He also did not dare to touch anything before the police arrived, afraid that it would damage the crime scene.

Moments later two police officers came to check the scene.  Police also checked Sarra's valuables, but nothing was missing.  The bedroom window was tightly locked from the inside.  The police asked Mr.  Weaselton at the police station.  That's when he called Helen, to find out about his daughter.  Because he didn't have the phone numbers of any of Sarra's other friends besides Helen.

I'm still trying to calm Helen who keeps crying.  Even though I've only known them for a short time, my heart is also very sad at this news.  Meanwhile, Alex stayed away to call Henry and Kevin who were working on improving their scores in the try out room.
