Walter is a human before just like us. He performs a cult that is able to make him live forever and become a loyal follower of Zorro. Because of his loyalty, Zorro gave strength to Walter and brought him along with him into the spirit realm. He ordered Walter to brutally torture and kill all kidnapped humans. Zorro absorbs their spirits screaming the pain of being tortured sadistically and it makes the creature stronger.
