Mara's POV

I helped the nurse guide Rhys back into the hospital bed, my hands shaking with worry. Rhys's face was pale, and he winced in pain as we moved him.

“I need you to step back his condition is getting worse,” she said firmly. “I’m going to call the doctor. We need to get him stabilized as quickly as possible.”

I took a step back, my heart pounding in my chest. I watched as the nurse hurried to the phone, her voice urgent as she relayed the situation to the doctor. I could see Rhys’s condition deteriorating right before my eyes, and it felt like every second was a battle we were losing.
