Chapter 61

Mara's POV

My eyes gawk on the floor studying nothing in exact as my head kept repeating each words he pronounced.

I looked up at him seeing the smile he let across the lips I was describing within myself few minutes ago, my eyes bulging from its socket.

I took them down trying hard to raise it back to where he stands, I wanted to bring myself to reality that he said those words to me, but my eyes are transfixed with horrors, unable to move away, no matter how much I wished to.

Likewise, I pressed my lips together, making them all disappear, but I let it slack uncertain weather to breathe or screamed.

Not only that, but I could feel my jaw trembled, making it hard for me to breathe.

Furthermore, I watched my skin pale, losing my color as it was becoming chalk white.

My finger was seeking onto what to hold, so I just grabbed the seat, hitting my button to it.

I couldn't put my finger on how I feel about the announcement, as I am just struggling to figure out why Rhys has to

Chapter 63 Mara's POV As the words left my lips I was expecting the bond to break, or at least a sign I had made a connection but nothing happened, could I be mistaken that Rhy's was my second chance mate? I saw it happen I saw it! But it didn't matter since Rhy's mind was already made up and he told me he never wanted to see my face! How could he say those words easily like he was telling me the very time of day and not tearing my heart to shreds. I opened my mouth to speak but I couldn't find my tongue tired of the humiliation and heartbreak I did the only thing I could... I stepped away from him my feet moved before my brain could register the thought. Tears streamed down my face, but I forced myself to stop crying. Crying wouldn't help. I had to keep moving, to get away from the hurt. “I knew it,” I muttered to myself between gasps. “I always knew he never loved me" I should have saw it coming that was why I didn't let myself fall for him but even as I said it,

I groaned, burying my face in the pillow, trying to block it all out but the knocking persisted. “Go away!” I mumbled, my voice barely more than a croak.“Rhys, open up! It’s Duncan,” came the reply. I squinted at the sliver of light streaming through the curtains, each ray a needle in my eyes. What could Duncan possibly want at this hour? And why did my mouth taste like an ashtray?“Duncan, leave me alone!” I shouted, immediately regretting the effort as pain shot through my temples. There was a pause, and for a moment, I thought he might actually leave. But then the door creaked open, and there he was, standing in the doorway, looking annoyingly fresh and awake.“We don’t have time for this, Rhys. You’re already an hour late,” he said, stepping inside without waiting for an invitation.I blinked at him, trying to process his words. “Late for what

Ethan questioned watching as I rubbed my temples frustrated."No I'm fine" I quickly said when he moved closer, he looked stunned for a minute but thankfully he took a step back.I owed him and whoever brought me here my life but it was all a bit strange and I would need some time getting used to it."So where are you from?" He asked picking a tiny statue and twirling it in between his fingers trying to avoid my gaze. The throbbing subsided a bit as I pictured my humiliation clearly sending a pang in my chest. How was I supposed to answer that question?Clearly Rhys hated me and there was no way I would go back to him and my orphanage mom didn't care about me unless I was useful, I had no where and no one."Hey hey you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, please sto

I had to steady myself against the wall, my mind racing. How was that possible? No this can't be true! My anger towards Mara disappeared and was replaced by regret."Why didn’t she tell me?" I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended. The maid looked down, wringing her hands. "I-I don’t know, Alpha. She found out recently I don't understand why she left suddenly. I don’t know what to do."I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm down my thoughts a mess. If this was real I just made a terrible stupid mistake."Don’t tell anyone about this," I said, my voice low but firm. "Do you understand?"She nodded quickly. "Yes, Alpha. I won’t say a word."I needed to do something. I pulled out my phone and dialed Duncan’s number. He picked up on the second ring."Rhys, what’s up?" he asked."It’s Mara," I sai

Dahlia gasped I understood her shock my hands were literally shaking. “I don’t know what to do,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I don’t think I can have this baby.”Dahlia’s eyes softened. “Mara, I understand this is overwhelming. But please, think carefully. This baby is a part of you.”I shook my head, tears welling up. “The father doesn’t want to be with me. I can’t do this alone. It’s too much.”Dahlia reached out, gently taking my hand. “You’re not alone, Mara. You have us. And this child... this child is special.”I looked at her, confused. “Special? How?”She took a deep breath. “You might be carrying the first Lycan in decades. Do you understand what that means? This baby could bring hope to so many. Our kind has been hunted, nearly wiped out. Your child could be a beacon of hope.”Her words hung in the air, heavy with meaning. I hadn’t thought about it that way. “But I’m scared,” I admitted, my voice breaking. “What if I can’t do it? What

Her well-defined juicy lips with the upper lip almost in the shape of a heart that lingered a sweet, caring smile painted with deep crimson lipstick, and her pinkish cheeks and small apart little freckles all came into view when she came up close to Rhys. The space between them slowly closed up as the music by the garden sort of increased when he grabbed her by the hand.“You…” Rhys stuttered, staring into her eyes unable to look away. He’d slowly gone lost in them. Just when she etched closer, he leaned forward whispering into her ears. “You look so beautiful,” He said, with a smile creaesd on

Rhy’s POV Two rogues came barreling in. They were running right for me as I ducked taking both rogues down to the floor in seconds making sure to have them both wounded.I watched both rogues squirming on the floor as they clenched their throats and then I knelt on the floor and started shifting, seeing that I was slowly getting outnumbered. I stepped forward and then grabbed one of them stepping over top of him. And then I bared my teeth into his flesh, growling, forcing a permanent hole as I had him killed instantly as the others stood by watching the scene. A lot of rogue men hurried my way, coming in groups of four, and twos headed in my direction. My eyes for some annoying reason, slowly had its color changed under the influence of me being completely angry over the fact that she was being taken away by Giovanni and I was getting attacked by some unknown rogue men.“Where the hell are they coming from?” I scowled, trying to make my way through angry rogue men as they attacked.

Rhys POVI watched Talia walking out of the mansion quietly, a couple of days later. Her movements seemed quite suspicious as she hopped into her zooming off.I couldn't stand my Wolf from growling at the thought of her knowing something about Mara’s disappearance.I decided to follow her to find out where she was headed. The fact that I could have her whereabouts tracked by her scent made it quite easier. She took about four turns and then into an unknown part of the city before stopping in front of a bar. A bar is known only to be visited, by rebellions.“What the hell is she doing here?” I whispered to myself as I parked a few meters away from her, making sure to take full cover.I peeped through the rearview mirror of my car and saw that there was a black Benz parked behind me, blocking me from driving out. I lowered my head, to avoid being caught in the game.My eyes widened in shock at the realization of whom it was that had stepped out of the car.The one man I never imagined I

Ignoring the fact that I’d been on one paragraph for the last couple of hours. “We’ve already upped patrol on the border, but still no sign of her,” Dante spoke up, distressed all over his face as he stared back at me.“I'm open to more orders,” He added, as I leaned back in the chair keeping my eyes low.“We stay on the course, we stay scouting, we have to keep searching,” I said frustratingly.“We can't be sitting ducks, we have to do something—” I grimaced but then paused, the minute I realized I was beginning to over react. It had been a couple of months since she’d suddenly disappeared. A couple of months since we had dinner together and a couple of months since I’ve seen her smile.“Perhaps we could send out a few
