Ryker POV

I can’t say I ever remember my head splitting and pounding this extreme before. After all the hell I been through, bullet holes and knife wounds, not even the special combination of silver and iron type of torture can compare.

Keeping my eyes shut while I try to breathe through it, waiting for my advanced healing to ease some of the pain. I hear my brother and best friend ask with some concern in his voice.

“What happened last night, Brother?”

Not even sure how to respond to that myself just yet, I open my eyes and take a look around. Around the open kitchen and living room concept. The bar counter looks out into the average size living room. Nothing special or even pretty about the temporary home we chose to stay in. We had a job to do. This was simply a place to sleep and organize our next phase of operations.

With a deep breath and exhale I admitted slowly,

“It’s unclear the direction of last nights events.”

“What the F-k does that mean?” Syn said, sounding exasperated.

“It means, Syn, I Don’t Know What The F-k Happened.” After I downed the shot, I slammed the empty glass back on the counter. Walking around my brothers into the living room, I explained further.

“The last thing I can recall is surveilling the club with you, Bayne. Then, I woke up in a pitch black room at the club, bare-assed as the day I was born, covered in sweat and Goddess knows what. And that’s after having untold amounts of uninhibited and sinful wet dreams that would put every teenage boy to shame.” My three brothers try to hide their smirks as I turn around to sit in the recliner in the corner facing the only family I have left. It’s very unexpected of Syn. It’s rare he ever finds amusement in any situation, or really any emotion except anger and aggression.

Lynx pours another shot in my abandoned glass and brings it over to me. I accept and rest the glass against my head, wishing it were chilled so maybe I could find some relief.

Naturally, good-natured Bayne has to comment,

“That’s why you look like you were in a lions den. All those kittens and not enough Ryker.” I shot a glare at him as a warning, my predicament is far from funny.

“Except the fact that it was a dream. There were no kittens as you say. I have no recollection of any physical female, or even walking away for that matter. It’s unclear how my clothes ended up torn or why I was sleeping at the club. I didn’t drink that much due to the mission. Which brings us to the subject, what did we find out?” They took the hint to move on to more important matters. Everyone took a seat on the unattractive, worn-looking couch or chairs around the coffee table littered with weapons from being cleaned on preparing to be.

“Well, as you know, the original report we received from the owner, had little information. It mostly stated that there is suspicious activity in the area and Club Bite Mark is directly in the center of it. The suspicious activity involves abductions of any and all species, both male and female, going back almost two years. The missing persons have to frequently be covered up to not draw attention from the human population to the club that is mostly focused on pleasing the supernatural’s in the area in a controlled environment. It appears who or whatever is doing this is not meticulous about their victims. There is really not much to go on.” Bayne took the liberty to inform and remind us what we are working with.

“Which is why they called in The OG.” Lynx added proudly grinning like a cat who got the cheese. “It’s possible it could be a rogue vampire taking the victims.” Suggested Bayne.

Syn sits back on his chair, quietly focused on the discussion. Syn is definitely the quiet bad boy type. He has a lot of demons in his past. Some we know about, others he refuses to share. He has always been the one we would have to keep an eye on the most due to his unethical nature. He kills without remorse or a thought to who it might affect, even for just displeasing him. I suppose after what he’s been through, he feels he has earned the right. Which is a story for another time.

“Was there any suspicious people or activity? The objective of surveilling the club was to find any indication of truth to the claims given. What evidence have we come up with since last night.” I asked.

“From what I could tell, it was the usual type that entered and exited. Just the average people trying to have a good time and let off some steam after a long week. Not even the scent of a succubus for a change.” Lynx responded. He occupied a table near the entrance and exit of the club so he can observe who or what comes and goes. It’s not unusual for a succubus to use a club as her feeding ground. As long as they don’t kill their “doners” it’s not much issue. They have to find ways to survive too. If they start killing then they are considered rogue, and will be dealt with accordingly, or brought before the council.

Each of us look at Syn expectantly, wordlessly asking if he witnessed anything from his advantage point up on the balcony. It allowed him to see the whole dance floor, the bar, and Bayne and I who were acting as bait, along with the emergency exit behind the dance floor and DJ station.

“The only activity to be seen was the girating bodies throughout the club. And of course, the odd moment when Ryker approached a female after receiving his shot from the waitress, and the disappearing act with said female without a word. And never came back.”

“What the F-k! I didn’t disappear with a female. I wouldn’t do that during recon.” Looking toward Bayne for confirmation, disbelieving Syn's words. Bayne just nods, lips in a thin line, not wanting to admit the truth to me. I lean back in my chair appalled at the inconceivable actions I may have displayed. After the initial shock passed, and I could form words again, I felt denial was the best way to go.

“That is absolutely ludicrous. You must have come up with this hoax before I came home. It’s hilarious, now let’s get back to work. Although, how did you get Syn to play along?”

Bayne shook his head as Linx stated,

“We're not playing with you, Brother. You walked off with a blonde female, and never returned.” I looked at Bayne, obvious confusion written all over my face.

“Step-by-step. What occurred exactly?” Asking Bayne, for he was right next to me throughout the night. Maybe through the tale, I can pinpoint a suspect.

After taking a deep breath, Bayne started relaying the event. “We sat in our booth, observing our surroundings inconspicuously for over an hour. We ordered another shot to keep up the façade of being average patrons. Which would make the third shot. The same human female waitress we have had all night brought over our drinks. After only a moment, you slammed it back. Instantly looked up, directly at the blonde female in question. She looked at you. You stood up, strode over to grab her hand and bolted with her in tow like your pants were on fire. The both of you had a purpose when leaving.” Bayne wiggled his eyebrows at the last sentence suggestively.

Mouth agape, not believing what he just said, I shook my head.

“No. No, I wouldn’t do that during recon. She must have been a witch and put a spell on me, or something. We need to find this female. It’s possible she is the cause of the missing victims.”

“You're saying, she’s making these people just walk off with her, never to be seen, or heard from again, without even realizing it? Then how and why did you escape?” Making a valid point, Lynx questioned the likelihood of that possibility.

“We’ve heard worse. And clearly, I did not escape unscathed. I smell blood on me and my back hurts something fierce. Something got their claws in me. I suppose even blacked out, I can still find my way out. Let me shower and after, we can devise a plan on a way to track her down.” I said, heading in the direction of my room and shower.

Lyric POV “Andrew, don’t hit your classmates', please. It’s not nice.” I tell one of my students. He has been pushing all the boundaries today. It seems it must be a full moon today, because most of my students are acting out a lot more than usual. To make matters worse ,I have the hangover from hell. I knew I shouldn’t have went out with the girls last night. If it wasn’t for my phones daily alarm going off, I would probably still be passed out at the club. I’m was still mad they left without me, but I’m not really that close with them, except Paityn. Paityn is my best friend, adopted sister and roommate. We have been close since I can remember. It was her birthday we celebrated yesterday. Her new boyfriend, Eric must have taken her home last night. My car was still in the parking lot thankfully, when I came out of the club. Luckily, I always keep an emergency set of clothes and toiletries in my trunk since I didn’t have enough time to go home and shower before work, due to such

Ryker POV As I was waiting for Bayne to see if the mystery female from last night had some kind of internet footprint, so we maybe be able to find her general whereabouts, I showered and slept off the remaining hangover. Feeling better, I joined the others to find out what they found. "There you are. I was wondering when you were going to join us. You don’t look like hell anymore. I hope that means you feel better." "Yes, I do actually. Any news?” I responded, nodding towards Bayne. “We got lucky. The females she accompanied posted on social media. They also included some exuberant and bold photos, which was very helpful. They even have the decency to tag names. In this one here, you can see the birthday girl, Paityn Windsor and her sister, Lyric Windsor, also another friend common in the photos, Kinsey Cole. • Orion’s Fate   Chapter Five Feet Away

Lyric POVHere we are, at the soup kitchen, working away to get fifty plus hungry people fed. Kinsey had made fresh batches of her famous chicken noodle soup, some rolls, chicken salad, and tuna salad sandwiches and some jello for dessert. People can pick and choose the items they want, less goes to waste that way. There is also milk, water, apple and orange juice available as well. I’m helping give anyone who wants any, some of the soup and a roll. The sandwiches previously made and wrapped, Paityn is handing out. The jello and drinks are sitting in refrigerated units for anyone to grab and keep moving. Kinsey is greeting guests and helping anyone find seats. She introduces guests to get them to start talking when they sit together. It helps everyone make friends and keep the mood light while accommodating the lack of free space. We usually don’t have issues here unless we run out of food. Kinsey does her best to make sure that doesn’t happen, even if that means running to the sto

Ryker POV“First, we should separate them for the interview to check and see if any stories they may have, line up.” I started off with the preparations as soon as we arrived back at our humble abode. I waited patiently to see if anyone else had anything more to offer.“This is going to be tricky. If they are human and are completely unaware of our kind, we could be risking exposure. If we were to separate them in, let’s say different rooms of the coffee shop, we will have to be very careful with our questions.” Bayne pointed out. I simply nod in agreement. Syn made a suggestion,“We could catch each one when they are already separated at their places of employment.”“Then we would have to do all the interviews at the same time so they don’t have a chance to contact one another afterwards to warn them.” Bayne stated.“That seems to be the best option for this. Though, obviously I won’t be able to offer any questioning to Lyric.” I said ringing my hands through my hair, noticing I

3rd person POV It’s only Tuesday morning and Lyric already can’t wait for the week to be over. The three friends, Lyric, Paityn, and Kinsey had fun the night before during their girls night. They put in a random movie and binged on popcorn and ice cream, though barely watched any of it, preferring to chat about life drama, careers, and of course, boys. During which time Kinsey and Paityn decided to pick on Lyric about her one night stand. Not long after, she bailed on preference for her quiet, warm and cozy bed. Safe to say it was not a dreamless sleep. All night long, Lyric was haunted by the most vivid of dreams containing the mystery man from the club. It seems even her subconscious can’t get him out of her head. She awoke too hot, covered in sweat, with the most sensitive skin. Even the blanket brushing against her was too much. Still not feeling back to her usual self on this extra warm Tuesday morning, Lyric popped two pain relievers and readied herself for work. Just becaus

3rd Person POV Paityn is happily working in her little cafe, Mocha Munchies. She felt she was exactly where she wanted to be in life. This was her dream, a dream come true. So why does she feel so empty? Paityn thought reaching her dreams would fill tha emptiness. She refuses to believe it’s because she just needed someone to share it with. Yes, she has Eric, but if Paityn is honest with herself, she’s only wit him so she doesn’t feel so lonely. Yes, she has lyric and Kinsey as well. Her sister and best friends. She loves them, but… yes, there was always a but. She wants to be loved on a level they are not capable of. They can’t satisfy her needs. Which, of course, Eric doesn’t either. She should just end it so she’s not leading him on. It’s not like it would be hard for him to move on. He had his eyes on the waitress practically the whole night we were at the club, to celebrate MY birthday. After I finish restocking from the morning rush, I helped out the few more late customers we

Bayne POV I took the tray of coffees and muffins over to the table for us to enjoy while we talked about any ongoing theories and new suspicions. My wolf Knox is all over the place inside my head, spouting nonsense I can’t understand since he wont calm down. Ryker started us off. “What do we think?” “She hasn’t said anything incriminating. I haven’t scented a lie. Only disappointment in her boyfriend.” My wolf growls in my head at that. Then he says the one thing I least expected him to say as I take a quick glance over and smile toward her. “Mine.” I tune out to have an internal exchange with Knox. “What did you just say?”” “Mine.” He repeated. “Who?” “Mate. Standing right there.” “You gotta be F-ing kidding me.” “We must go talk to her.” “What? I cant. You do realize she is a suspect in a multiple missing persons case, and you want me to blow my cover to talk to her.” “She’s innocent. How dare you accuse our mate of such a thing.” Knox says, growling. “Fine, whatever. S

I don’t have the help for breakfast or lunch like I do for dinner so everything is premade and wrapped. My guests know the drill by now. They help themselves to what they want and find their own seats. I don’t even need to be here for it. Luckily, its not as busy during the day as it usually is at night since most patrons are either at work or looking for work.“Good morning, pretty lady. And how are you this fine morning?” One of the patrons, Charles, came up to ask me.“Good morning,, Charles. I’m good today. How is your knee feeling? • Orion’s Fate   Chapter Twelve

3rd Person POVIt’s now Wednesday and Mocha Munchies is now closed for the day. The three girl friends work at the shelter tonight. Lyric awaits impatiently for the text results from her appointment from the previous day. They needed about 24 hours for them to complete the tests. So long as she comes back clean, she’s in the clear. The night at the club will be behind her finally. She dealt with everything else, like if she even became pregnant and also dealt with the man himself. Telling him that that night is in the past now and we can move on separately, though she won’t admit it, she’s disappointed about it. She’s not sure why though since she knows nothing about the man, but the fact he’s intimidating, handsome, and seems like he requires submission. A part of Lyric wants to give that to him but another part would rather fight tooth and nail over it. She’s not sure what she was expecting anyway out of the encounter. Lyric as sure all he wanted was a one night stand with anyone wh

Lynx POVI have never been so at a loss for words before. I’m the talkative, always fill in the silence, type. I’m not shy, but I’ve never had a reason to be. Luka, my wolf, has been berating me since we got here. Basically, I should have laid my claim to her as soon as I laid eyes on her. He’s angry because he doesn’t understand why I haven’t. What a barbarian. He doesn’t understand I can’t just throw her over my shoulder and leave which is exactly what he wants me to do.When Bayne looked into Lyric’s social media and the three seemed as thick as thieves, he looked into theirs as well. Kinsey only ever seems to post life events or advertising for business for her meal on wheels vendor. It’s supposed to be a great place to eat and help the needy at the same time. The funds keep the shelter in business. Instead of just giving money to homeless people on the street, which a lot of people are uncomfortable doing since they don’t know if that money is going to feed an addiction instead
