The spy

I have something for you Doug! " she was a little breathless.

"Whoah!! careful bunny." he quickly caught her when she Tripped on the wires that was lying on the floor connected to the screen monitors.

"Don't start now Pinocchio or you'll lose the biggest bust of your entire career." she said angrily, but never denied the tingling feeling she felt when he hold her in his arms.

"Would you rather I let you kiss the floor?" Doug intentionally teases her with her hated nickname.

"I rather you stop calling me names pertaining my ears you... you beast! wipe that smirk off your face." she's near to tears embarrassed by the look Doug colleagues gave her .

"I'm sorry Kathy dear. Alright what is it."  He  stopped his teasing seeing her embarrassment.

"If it's not for... " she  held  her tongue. And handed him a piece of paper. He look at it and his face brighten.

"Is it confirmed? You're not pulling my leg now?" He got serious.

"Why did I ever do it to you? I will never joke on things as serious as this one." She defended.

"Ok,  men let's move out!!!" as his men getting ready to leave carrying their weapons. Kaitlyn got ready too.

"Oh no, you're not coming." Doug said restricting her movement by blocking her way.

"Who says so Pinocchio? I'm the one who gave you the tip I want my share of the news." She replied annoyed to be left ou.

"I know, but it is very dangerous  I will be responsible for your safety, you're a civilian and might caught in the middle." he  is really very concern of her since he knows of the danger it will hold. He and his team had been following it up and the tip Kaitlyn gave him confirmed everything even in the smallest details.

"Promise I won't get in the way. please, please... please. I will make it up to you." she raise her right hand as in to swear. She looks so cute that Doug doesn't have the heart to deny.

"OK be very careful stay beside me, and take this. You know how to use it?" he asked as he gave him his gun.

"Sure. What about you," he showed her his spare gun stucked on his waist without saying a word.

"Sure" little did he know that Kaitlyn came in prepared she also got weapons concealed on different parts of her body.

As they moved out Kaitlyn has her attention fixed on some individuals on Doug team.

Doug briefed his  men on their mission .

"We have to moved quickly because the transaction will take place tonight ant area C in an abandon storage." As they near the location. She notice the peculiar reaction of on of the individual she is observing 'it's got to be him' she thought. 

Doug's men carefully entered and surrounded the place  they carefully waited.  He chose one of his men to come with him to check the inner part of the place with Kaitlynn. When they reach the site  they both was surprise when Kaitlyn was held hostage by their companion. The  nozzle of the gun points back at Doug.

"Sorry boss, you have to be eliminated."  he was smiling evilly.

"So you are the spy."Doug said " let her go it is between you and me." He continued.

"No  she has to go too." The man said.

"Do you think you can get away with it ? " Doug tried to make the man see sense.

"Let's just say that you two get into an argument and shoot each other you are always quarrelling ,then I have two targets in one move, he he he."  he tighten the hold on Kaitlyn neck  not noticing her hand move to her waist to retrieve  a knife.

"What  do you mean?Doug was confused.

" Boss meet Agent Sparrow."as he mock the introduction his hand holding the gun was seized and shot to another direction, followed by  a blow to his side and sending him flat on his back . when Kaitlyn crouch pulling his weight down. She send the knife an inch to his throat, the move was so fast that leave Douglas glued to his position.

"Who sent you?" she asked but he replied with a laugh before convulsing and frothing in the mouth.

"Damn! I was not so fast this time." She  said regretfully.

"Kaitlyn you are Sparrow?"he asked incredulously.

" Well I have to protect my identity, my job and my family. " she said defensively.

"What happened?"  Denis's was quick to get to the scene  after hearing the sound of the  gun shot.

"The spy had been eliminated,  now for the real action." she took another paper from her boot and gave it to them.

"You mean it was a  hoax?"

"No it was a trap you are being fed by wrong informations to get you out of the real  action that will take place exactly two hours from now, They plan to get you to this place to be eliminated. You have a high price on your head Pinocchio and so with you Dennis'." As he led him outside. she made some calls. Doug and Dennis studied the papers she gave then assembled their men and was  briefed   again.

"Come on!  my men are waiting on the beach."

"How did you ever got the information on this  kaith?" Dennis asked

"My team had been investigating on this for a long time. We were able to uncover some the top members of the organization, but identifying them is useless without knowing who runs the show and  how they operate." she said sighing.

"It's been frustrating to know that we cannot do anything without knowing their protector in the government." Doug said.

" So what we can do is paralysing their operations by busting their shipments." kaith said.

" Did you know that the biggest processing plant in the country is located right in your jurisdiction? and we cannot do anything about it because the protector is your chief and some of your supervisors."

"How did you know that?"Dennis asked.

"We've been tailing them for a long time but our moves are restrained. My team has been trying to break in your location. but we didn't know who to trust. Which is why I'm glad we collaborated in Deborah's case. I was able to check on you ." Doug understand that it is the SOP they cannot just trust anybody and divulge sensitive information. 

Their location is strategic for the organization because theyoccupy the major shoreline. The criminals get access on private fingerling wharf as they can easily dropped their shipment there.

"OK here we come. we were early. some of my team are on post. wear this to identify yourselves. they are identical to what they are using."  Some of their men were posted at the shore, while some mostly Kaitlyn's team are on the water waiting for the ship to dropped the items  in the sea to retrieve them they are heavily armed. 

Kaitlyn and Doug boarded the ship carrying the contraband to stopped it. They successfully carry out the operation with no casualty in their side. 

The following day Douglas presented the evidences linking some of the officers in their department to the organization pending their arrest. 

Days followed one by one the processing plants and storage plants fall on the hands of the authorities.  Arrest were made and investigations were conducted. But the biggest set back was the mastermind was able to escape and no one knows of his identity nor his appearance.

For a while Doug and his men were riding high on their success. Kaithlyn and her team was left in the shadows to protect their identity. they were  contented to just helped in solving the problem. but they were given commendations secretly.

At this time the cat and dog relationship of the two has been elevated to being allies and friends.

"Until now I still cannot believed that we were able to carry out the operation smoothly and thoroughly. Thanks to you and your team. I'm forever grateful to you Kaith." Douglas said with so much gratefulness to Kaitlyn team.

"Oh... you make me blush, but seriously speaking Doug, it's working with dedicated people, with very good knowledge on the technology utilising the proper information with thorough and careful planning we got the Job done." Then she become silent.

"What are you thinking?" He was suddenly aware of her silence.

"You must realised that it's only the beginning, we have a bigger wider and stronger enemy now, You are exposed now with your new position as the chief and the price they set on your head is much more higher now." Kaitlyn said worrying about the safety of her friend.

"I know." he touches her hand.

"Please be very careful Doug, I don't want to loose  another friend." She said.

"I will," and they both look on each other's eyes.

He was thinking about those inviting red Cherry lips, she was thinking its the first time she notice his eyes, they didn't show those mischief  hidden in them. She is fighting the urge to raise her hand and touch his face.

And slowly, inch by inch their faces almost touching.

Ring.....

Both startled they suddenly broke apart.They look at each other and started laughing.
