Chapter 007: Heart Stabbed

Ophelia's point of view

“I need you to keep this in mind: I’m planning to get back together with Berry,” I declared, my voice carrying a tone that felt as cold and frosty as a winter morning.

“Why are you being so difficult? It’s clear to anyone who can see that my Caroline already has him,” she asserted, her words colliding with mine, creating an intense atmosphere between us that felt almost electric.

In response to her, I chose to remain silent, allowing the weight of her statement to linger unacknowledged between us.

Deep down inside, a part of me wrestled with the notion that maybe what she claimed was true, but I refused to allow myself to appear vulnerable or weak in front of her. I would not give her that satisfaction.

“You and I both understand that you married him out of spite,” she whispered conspiratorially close to my ear, and I couldn’t help but scoff at her suggestion.

“How could you be so pathetic?” I shouted, letting my frustration explode into the air around us.

“I am determined to uncover every truth about who I really am, and there is nothing you can do to stop me!” I declared fiercely, my voice low and gravelly, before resolutely turning away and walking off, each step echoing my resolve.

Abigail had played the role of my foster mother for quite a long time, but the reality was that she had pretended to be my mother, creating an illusion that only compounded the complexities of our relationship.

After the disastrous events of high school, both Abigail and Caroline turned their backs on me, harboring a deep-seated resentment that had been festering ever since.

Their animosity toward me felt like a heavy shadow, perpetually lingering on the edges of my consciousness.

As I stepped away from her presence, I felt an enormous wave of relief wash over me, like a heavy weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

I let out a deep, calming sigh, feeling lighter and more at ease with each breath I took.

"We’ll be alright, okay?" I reassured myself, gently rubbing my stomach in a comforting gesture.

It was my way of soothing the knots of anxiety that had built up inside me.

Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket, the vibration breaking the moment of stillness.

I quickly pulled it out to see who was calling, and to my surprise, it was Berry! A rush of emotions surged through me at the sight of his name, and I felt an unexpected jolt of joy.

Without a second thought, I answered the call; I simply could not contain my eagerness.

"Come home now," he said, his voice wrapping around me like a soft, warm blanket. It sounded so gentle and familiar that I could almost hear the affection lacing his words.

I realized just how much I had missed him during our time apart. T

he excitement bubbled inside me, and I immediately ordered a taxi, feeling an urgent need to get to him as soon as possible before that wave of happiness slipped away.

In my rush, I didn’t notice the troubled expression on the face of a man watching me from his car, his eyes filled with an unsettling mix of concern and curiosity. But all that occupied my mind was the thought of Berry and the comfort of finally reuniting with him.

As I arrived home, a surge of exhilarating anticipation filled my chest, compelling me to step inside slowly, savoring the moment.

However, an odd sensation crept over me as I entered the dimly lit hallway. Strangely enough, all the lights were off, casting shadows that danced eerily around me.

From the living room, I could hear unusual sounds that sent a shiver down my spine, piquing my curiosity and concern.

What could possibly be happening in my home? My heart beat faster as I stood there, caught between excitement and an unsettling feeling deep within me.

“Berry,” I called out softly into the darkness as I made my way inside, feeling a sense of unease wash over me.

The air was thick with tension, and I could sense something unsettling was happening.

As I continued to walk, I began to hear loud and unmistakable sounds—moans and screams that pierced through the silence of the night.

“Please! Fuck me harder, Berry!” a woman’s voice cried out, filled with a mix of desperation and pleasure.

“You’re too sweet!” Berry responded, his voice dripping with desire.

“Oh, Gawd!” came the frantic reply from the woman, and in that moment, my heart began to race uncontrollably, pounding hard against my chest as I listened.

Something deep inside me recognized those voices—I couldn’t shake the feeling that they were all too familiar.

I shook my head vigorously, trying to dispel the dreadful thoughts creeping into my mind.

“No! It can’t be what I’m thinking!” I whispered to myself, each word laced with denial.

Yet, as I took another step closer to the living room, I could hear soft chuckles emanating from beyond the doorway, fueling the dread that enveloped me.

“I wish I never was with Ophelia,” Berry said with a tone laced with regret, and every word felt like a dagger piercing my heart.

Tears began to roll down my cheeks, mixing with the overwhelming sense of betrayal I was beginning to feel.

No! I couldn’t believe this was happening.

“I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t. She even slept with your old best friend, King, and tried to hide it from you,” came Caroline’s tempting voice, and as her words sunk in, fiery anger began to bubble up inside me, burning through the sadness.

“King?” Berry echoed with incredulity, a mix of disbelief and shock evident in his voice.

“I have videos if you want to see them,” Caroline teased, and that statement struck a chord within me, igniting a shocking wave of curiosity that I couldn’t suppress.

“I never spoke with King in high school, let alone shared something so intimate with him!” I thought, my face contorting with confusion as Caroline began to play the video.

My heart raced, and I felt an icy grip of anxiety as I surprisingly heard my own voice in the background, unmistakable and haunting.

Boom! Suddenly, my world felt like it was collapsing around me.

I staggered back, my foot accidentally hitting a vase that sat precariously nearby. It shattered into a million tiny pieces, much like the state of my heart at that moment.

All at once, a painful memory crashed over me like a wave, dragging me down into its depths.

I could remember that night, the night I called for help and asked them to stop!

Also that night, a lady was at a corner, recording the scene with her phone.

"Was Caroline the one behind me getting….."
