Haven looked at Mack as she neared the back room, and he knew something was going on in her brain. She had a look of determination that he hadn’t seen on anyone since he knew her in college, and one of the girls had told her that she was nothing but a pet project for the professors. Haven had proven that even six years younger, she could do anything that someone older could do. The one thing the girl had insinuated was that Haven couldn’t turn the eyes of the men around her. The bed was comfortable even though it was smaller than most he had been on in the past few years. It reminded him of the small rack type beds they had in the military. Having her so close to him was enough to keep his mind off much of everything else. Right now, he wanted to relish in the thoughts that he was having of all the things he wanted to do to and with her. Most of all, he wanted her to know she was it for him. Mack knew she was just there thinking the rest of the afternoon. Knowing that she was one to never talk until someone talked to her. She was the one who waited to voice her opinion on anything. She woke with a start and didn’t know why she was wide awake. She listened in the darkness and heard his soft breathing behind her as she had been somewhat pushed into the wall. She couldn’t think of the reason why she was so awake, though. He was not restless, nor were there any noises in the house or any alerts going off from the cameras. Nothing seemed to be out of place except for the man in the back of her. She was still getting used to the idea of him being there in her life. She didn’t know if he wanted this to last like she hoped though he was certainly acting like it. She didn’t know what the future held for either of them, but she would enjoy this time with him for everything it was worth.
