(Four years later, San Francisco)
"Emerald Julie Aaron?" The receptionist called her and she stood up straightening her skirt. This was the fourth interview today.
They all did seem quite impressed with her knowledge and personality.
But she did not have any prior experience in the sales field. For her, this was the only field that could make her rich in lesser time.
She had to take care of Sophia's education, and her upbringing. She did not want any more help from Levisays. They had already done a lot.
When she was doing her bachelor's, they took care of Sophia along with their kids.
Hunter Levisay wanted her to work in his office. Abigail Levisay offered her to work in her furniture showroom but she wanted to do something on her own.
One month back she already resigned from her governess job. Though as a governess, she was paid handsomely with lots of perks. Abigail never let her feel that she was a governess there. She got her due share of respect as Patricia's friend.
Her only purpose in life was to earn more than a decent salary. Once Sophia will start her schooling then she could pursue her Master’s degree in business.
When she entered the office she stopped. She was expecting a panel of four to five people.
But a middle-aged man who was partially bald and of medium height was sitting there.
"Ms. Aaron? Please have a seat." He smiled professionally before going through her documents and introduced himself as Mathew.
"We went through your resume, Ms. Aaron. I think you are perfect for the job. The only hindrance is your lack of experience."
Oh, God! Not again.
She did try to hide the disappointment but the man caught it there.
"What I can do for you is... I can talk to our CEO. IF he would allow us then we can talk further about it. RW Corporation is expanded throughout the USA. That's the reason we are looking for more sales representatives."
"Mr. Mathew. I promise. I won't fail you. I just want one chance. I assure you, that’s all I need."
Well. How worse it could get. Now she was begging people for her job and that was extremely unprofessional.
Hunter did advise her never to show her desperation.
“I am sorry, Hunter.” She silently asked for his forgiveness.
After the interview when she came out of the building first thing she did was to send a message to her friend Daniel who was out of the city for some office work.
[Hey, Daniel. How are you? I am done with the interviews for today. I guess you were right. All of them are after my experience.]
Her phone beeped when she got the instant reply.
[Don’t lose hope, Em. That's the reason I told you to join me in West Garden. The company would have provided you with the hands-on experience.]
Daniel was a manager of this small company West Garden company which dealt in small estates and properties. He had a good relationship with his boss.
Daniel had been her class fellow for two years, sharing just one subject’s classes, and had been in love with her for the last four years. Emerald did try to accept his love and the ring he was more than willing to offer.
Daniel Bradford was crazy about her and wanted to marry her, even though he found it a little unsettling when she told him clearly that she did not want a relationship nor she was interested in having a bed partnership.
Unexpectedly he did understand and never forced her to do anything.
Emerald, sometimes used to get irritated that why he was so perfect. Every time he used to be so caring and so thoughtful about her
About her feelings.
But...
Emerald could not bring herself to love him. Though she did try.
She could not get the man out of her mind who spent fifteen days with her in Turkey.
It was not about her. It was about her heart...
Pushing the unwanted thoughts away from her mind she called Selina.
She received her call on the first ring.
"Hey. How is Sophia doing? I hope she is not keeping you on your toes."
"You are stupid, Emerald. Why would Sophie do it? She is such a sweet soul. Right now she is taking her nap. How were your interviews?"
"I don't know. They seemed happy and wanted to offer me this job but you know well about my lack of experience."
"Hey. Don't worry. Ok? They will call you. I am sure of that." Her friend tried to cheer her up.
"By the way, there is bad news, Em." She could hear the sadness in Selina's voice.
"Why? What happened? You got your periods?"
"Shut up! No. It’s about tomorrow's party."
"What about that?" Emerald stopped herself from rolling her eyes. She was least interested in that party.
"I just came to know. Rafael Wyatt won't be attending it."
The moment she let out the forbidden name Emerald stood still.
Rafael Wyatt.
The name that caused her hurt and misery years back.
He was the reason Emerald never attended the annual party despite Abigail's insistence.
Thankfully he never visited them or never stayed at their place.
But used to attend this party with a different date every year.
Every year Abigail Levisay used to invite her and every time Emerald had to decline the invitation politely.
She did not find it in her to face the man. Walking tiredly, she went to the cab stand. Gosh, she was missing Sophia.

"Sir. We have taken the interviews. Up till now, we have chosen seven candidates who we thought have a spark for sales." Mathew wiped the sweat with his handkerchief despite sitting in the extremely chilled room.Rafael Wyatt used to give him these terror attacks. He rarely visited San Francisco, and usually preferred to keep all the communication on calls.
Today's visit was unexpected.
"All of them have prior experience with sales? We don't want any newbie right now, Mathew." He was going through all the files, “There is so much competition in the market.”
"Sir there were two candidates without experience and both of them seemed quite competitive. One of them is a high school boy, James, who wants a part-time. And this girl… Her name is Emerald Julie Aaron. She badly wanted this job and said she would prove herself."
"Hmm." He did not discuss it further and closed the file. The name did ring a familiar bell. Julie Aaron! But there were so many Julie or Julia Aarons.
"Mathew. Hire anyone you like. I just want results." Mathew was seemingly waiting for the discussion to end.
Without wasting a minute he stood up from his seat.
It had been just three years since Rafael Wyatt came into the property business.
The great superstar who was getting crazily popular worldwide because of his looks and movies shocked the world when he announced that he no longer wanted to act.
He owned a production company and their first film was in the process.
The phone on the office desk started ringing.
Matthew quickly went ahead and picked up the receiver, "Hold on, please."
Covering the mouthpiece he mouthed a silent, "Abigail Levisay."
A small smile broke on Rafael's lips.
Mathew never saw him laughing and rarely witnessed the smile. His boss was very close to Hunter and Abigail Levisay. However, he preferred to stay in Sapphire Galaxy Hotel.
"Hey! Angel! How are you?"
Rafael waved a hand to dismiss Mathew.
Picking up the file from the desk, Mathew turned on his heels to leave the office.
"Rafael. Hunter just told me that you have landed in San Francisco yet you are not attending the dinner."
Abigail's stern voice made him chuckle, "I am here because they had stopped the filming of my movie due to some technicalities. Plus now a days we are carrying on interviews for sales representatives for RW Estate and property. My hands are full."
Every year he used to attend it and every year his heart used to yearn whenever he used to see Hunter's family. Their twin daughters and their son Rowan were his favorite.
“Rafael. You better get your ass here otherwise I might make one or two cases against you.” He was still smiling when he disconnected the call.
It seemed like he had to attend this party. He often missed the girl and could not get her out of his mind who he met four years back in Turkey.
How she was able to see through him when she did not know that he was a movie star. She seemed genuine and he messed up everything. By now he might had his kids.
During those days he had a long, wild beard and mustache, to meet the demands of his movie. Those were the best days of his life. The majority of people could not recognize him due to his hairy face.
Only if he could bring back that naive girl who trusted him.
Leaning back his head he inhaled a long tired breath.
"Julia Aaron. I have been looking for you for four years. Where are you, Harika?"
The phone started ringing again.
"Yes?" He pasted the receiver to his ear and opened his laptop again.
"Hey. Abigail told me you are in San Francisco. Are you going to be at the party?" Rafael frowned and looked at the receiver. News traveled faster than he had expected.
"Ethan! You did not call me to ask about the party. Right?"
"Ah. Yeah. The thing is Rafael... do you need my help in hiring someone?"
Rafael's brows knitted in a second, "Help? What kind of help? Mathew is already helping me."
"No … no. Not that. Hunter asked for my help when he wanted to offer this job to Abigail. He took my help for making Abigail sign a contract worth two billion. So..."
Rafael didn't know why Ethan was telling him this. “Two billion? Seriously?"
"If you want to hire this certain girl I can help you and I ... assure you... that..."
"Eth!" Rafael cut him in midsentence.
"Yes, Rafael?"
"Shut up!"
“Here, sweetheart!” Emerald placed a bowl of boiled vegetables on the baby chair. Sophia at once started digging in.“Thank you, mommy!” She tried to speak with her full mouth. Kissing her plump cheek, Emerald took the seat before Selina.“I am so excited to experience this party mode! Somebody just kill me and send me to heaven.”Selina squealed with childlike innocence making Emerald shake her head in amusement. They both were sitting in the kitchen, their coffee cups placed on the counter. “Gosh, Emerald. I have this wild hunch that I might meet my Mr. Right at this party.”Selina was her friend and the governess for Levisay's kids. Staying with Levisays had been the best decision of her life and she could not thank Patricia enough.Levisays had a special liking for their employees who wanted to pursue their studies. Whether they were office workers or house helpers.Emerald had become very close to Hunter and Abigail Levisay. They were almost like close friends to her and she ha

“Mommy! You look pretty.” four years old Sophia who had been observing her with her chin rested on her palm, told her softly.“Aww. You think so?” She asked the little munchkin with love.“How could someone not accept such a pretty thing!” She thought about her parents while her eyes were on Sophia’s beautiful little face. She could never get that horrible night out of her mind when her parents abandoned her. If Patricia and Cassandra were not there, she didn’t know where she would end up. She made it out alive along with Sophia. She was her little warrior.Emerald sat beside her and made her sit on her lap to hug her tightly.“What are you doing, mommy?”“Mommy needs a hug little one.”She didn’t know if the hug was for the child or if she was the one who needed it most. She was ready for the party. Though she was not very fond of makeup. But tonight she did it just to please her friends. She was wearing a Ruby red bodycon dress that reached her knees. The dress with its full sleev
“No way. I am not attending this brunch today.” Patricia said stubbornly.“Oh come on, Cia.” Abigail sat beside her, “Today it would be different. He is leaving this evening.” Abigail was trying to convince her to attend the brunch arranged in the garden but Patricia was not ready to budge.“Don’t set me up with him. On screen, he used to be so romantic with those female leads. Last night, he did not even look at me. And that model!” Patricia scoffed in irritation, “She was literally grinding herself on his lap. No way. I am NOT going.”Abigail squeezed her eyes a little and then turned to Emerald, “Please ask her to do it. He is not that bad.”“Oh. He is worse, Abi.” Thinking to herself sarcastically, Emerald moved away the cracker bowl from the table top and sat in front of Patricia.“Cia! Attend it because of you. Because of us. If you don’t want to talk to him. Then don’t!” Patricia pouted and shook her head in embarrassment.“Come on, Cia. We are your friends. Just go and enjoy y
Emerald forgot who this man was. She forgot where was she standing? She forgot about herself. The only thing that mattered right now was… That she was in his arms, inhaling the same scent she faintly remembered four years ago. Just then very lightly, someone placed a hand on Rafael’s shoulders. “Rafael!” There was concern in Hunter’s voice. Frowning to herself Emerald jumped a little and straightened. She pushed his hands feebly which caused several creases to appear on his forehead. “Julia?” Rafael held her chin gently. There was confusion evident in his eyes. “Rafael!” They again heard Hunter, “She is not Julia.” What? Rafael did not let go of her waist despite her feeble attempts. “She is not Julia. She is Emerald.” Hunter repeated. “Emerald?” Rafael’s head again turned to her. He wanted confirmation. This time she pushed his hands a little forcefully and took a step back. Abigail was also standing there with them. “Yes, Rafael. She is Emerald. Not Julia. Her name is Em
After such a long time Emerald got a good night's sleep. She woke up when her phone started ringing. Her heart fell in the pit of her stomach when she did not find Sophie beside her. While talking on phone, she got up hurriedly and jogged down towards the kitchen. That was the only place the kid could be found. And man! She was right. When she was done with the call, she disconnected it and opened the kitchen door. She found Sophie talking to a guy who was leaning towards her baby chair. While Selina was preparing pancakes for the kid’s breakfast. Entering the kitchen, Emerald frowned a little, "Sophie. You never fail to give me a heart attack." The moment she said that the guy straightened. "Daniel!" She yelped with joy and walked to him for a hug, "When did you land here?" He returned the hug and lifted Sophie in his arms, "I came straight from the airport. I was missing you two so much." He placed the child back in the baby chair after kissing her cheek. From the corner of her
The call was from his production house."Rafael. You need to decide the name of the movie by now." His director now sounded frustrated at the other end, "You haven't even decided the ending.""I will let you know. Ok? I told you to get done with the initial shoots." Rafael snapped. Deep down he knew the director was right. The man was competitive and wanted to work in a professional way for Rafael and his production company.Ethan was drinking coffee and was talking animatedly to Rafael Wyatt as soon as he disconnected the call.Rafael was only half listening. Every cell in his body was waiting for Mathew to return and tell him the good news."By the way, may I know who this girl is?" Ethan asked him while pushing a heart-shaped cookie into his mouth."No one special, Eth." Rafael replied nonchalantly and started reading something on his laptop screen. He was getting impatient with each passing minute. Why Mathew is taking so long to get the documents signed?"These are awesome. I wan
Daniel made her sit in the waiting room and went inside to talk to Mr. Ramsey. Yesterday for some reason she could not meet him so she was called this morning. Daniel was back within a few minutes. "Is she the one?" She stood up when a chubby and bald man came out of his office with a friendly smile, "Hello, Emerald. Welcome on board. Daniel talks about you all the time." He was trying to be friendly with eyes lingering on her chest. He extended his hand for a handshake. When she reached out, he held her hand and started walking towards his office, not bothering to leave it. A little surprised, Emerald's eyes went wide and she turned quickly to see Daniel. Poor Daniel himself seemed too confused. The worst thing was when he tried to follow them inside the office, Mr. Ramsey told him in a no-nonsense tone. "Wait outside, Daniel." Instead of asking professional questions, Mr. Ramsey discussed the weather and climatic changes with her. Emerald didn't know that he was so approacha

Emerald woke up by stretching herself and turned her head sideways. Rafael was still sleeping like a baby with his mouth partially opened. She could see one or two strands of white hair in his subtle beard and she swore he was becoming more handsome with each passing day.Shifting closer to him, she sniffed that familiar perfume. God! She always acted like a creep when he was around.“I can never get enough of you.” She whispered in his ear making him stir in his sleep.“Harika?” He called her huskily snaking his arm around her na*ked body and pulling her to him.“Interested in a bath?” She asked his sleepy face, smiling slyly to herself.“Really?” This time his eyes opened widely.“Yup!” Kissing his cheek, she jumped out of bed when he held her hand hurriedly, “Let me do it for you, Guzel.”“You do it every Sunday, Askim. Let me do it for today.” She bent down to kiss his forehead but was sprawled on him when he not only made her stumble upon him but also rolled over taking her with
(Thirteen years later)Sixteen years old Sophia took out a rose twig from her bouquet and took it near her nose to sniff it.“Hmm. Heavens!” She closed her eyes in ecstasy.“You like it?” He asked her.“I love it, papa.” She opened her eyes and a smile gleamed on her lips. Her smile resembled a lot like her mom’s. She had taken that smile and black hair from Julia. That was the reason Emerald dyed her hair black many years back. The familiar smile still gave him pain.“Do you miss mom?” She asked him with concern showing in her eyes. The way she used to care about others showed a lot about how she was brought up by an amazing woman and man.“I used to. But now I think I have gotten over her.”“Once I will be eighteen, I am planning to visit her in Turkey.” Her statement made Robert snap up his head.“I don’t think Emerald and Rafael ever stopped you from meeting her. You just need to let them know.”“I know, papa. It’s just something I need to do on my own. Grandma shares her pictures
Sitting in the Levisay private jet, Emerald did not know where they were heading for their honeymoon. She was still dressed in her gown.“I was under the impression that we will be staying in Sapphire Galaxy.”“And why would I do that to my bride?” He asked her, circling her bare back with his finger. They enjoyed the wedding reception like anything. The Booz, the dances, meeting people. Emerald did everything in a daze. Finally, after coming out when it was time to throw back the bouquet they all were surprised when Patricia caught it effortlessly.“Are you missing Sophie?” Rafael got rid of his jacket before pulling her onto his lap, “Because I am.”He did try to convince Hunter to take Sophie with them. However, Hunter wanted them to spend this time together. They both deserved it. Their love deserved it.She did not know when she fell asleep in his arms. But when her eyes opened, she was in the furnished bedroom of the jet, lying peacefully in his arms.He was awake and staring at
“Oh, Gosh! Emerald! Wake up. It’s your wedding day.” Emerald had a pillow on her face when she heard Abi’s voice. “What? It’s already morning?” She asked herself and moved the pillow away from her face. “Look at you. The girl who had insomnia can now sleep nonstop.” Emerald got up yawning. Abigail was constantly talking without taking a break, “Come on, Em. Rise and shine.” She drew the curtains, allowing the room to bathe in sunlight. “Go and take shower. I will send a protein packed breakfast to the room. After that, you are supposed to wear your undergarments and petticoat. And yes…” Abigail was already stepping out, “Don’t forget to put on those bandelettes.” She winked before closing the door behind her. Emerald let out a panicked sigh and ran to the bathroom. Last night she stayed in the guest room of her house. Selina was already taking care of Sophie. After applying scented lotion all over her body, she came out in a bathing gown. it seemed like Abigail was waiting for her
“Mommy! You will marry daddy tomorrow?” She was changing Sophie’s dress into a sleeping suit when she asked the query with those innocent eyes on her face.“Yes, honey bun. We are.” She started brushing her daughter’s long black hair into a loose braid, “Are you happy?”“Happy of wedding? With daddy? Yes, mommy, I am.” She was too engrossed in brushing her barbie’s golden hair.“Mommy?”“Yes, honey bun?”“Would you love me after marry daddy?” Sophia was so busy with her doll’s hair that even she did not know the absurdity of her question.Emerald felt like someone had clenched her heart. Her daughter had started thinking along these lines. Was she getting insecure? Possessive?“Sophie? My baby!” She gently took the doll from her hands, “Look here, darling.” She held her small face in her hands, “You will always be my baby. You will always be my first love. And you know what?” She asked looking into the innocent eyes of her daughter,“Daddy loves you so much. He is always talking about
“Wake up, baby! Wake up!” She splashed water droplets on his closed lids. His lips stretched into a smile. He raised his arm to look for her in the air with his eyes still closed. She got back with a burst of half-suppressed laughter.“Come here!” His voice was still raspy due to the sleepiness, his hand still hanging in mid-air. Looking for her! She realized. “Get up. I am making breakfast for both of us!” telling him softly she went out of the room feeling all emotional. The way his hand wanted her was something too sweet to handle. When he came out all fresh and showered, she was placing the plates on the counter along with steaming coffee mugs. “Breakfast is ready and you need to…” She stopped when she saw him leaning against the counter in only a pair of shorts. His body was still glistening due to the shower he just took. Woah! The man let her do all those amazing things to his body last night and still, her insides were throbbing with his mere presence. “Still want to de
When Abigail and Hunter got inside the kitchen, they stopped short when found Emerald stirring something in a big bowl.“What are you doing?” Hunter picked up a carrot and started chomping on it.“I was thinking to help Abigail with the dinner.” She said busily, “How about I do a sweet dish and you can go with one main course dish. Or if you want I can …Oops!” She squealed when Hunter lifted her up as if she weighed like a feather and placed her away. “Brides are not allowed in the kitchen!” Hunter took the bowl from the counter and started whipping it.“He is right.” Abigail took out an apron from the drawer and threw another one towards her husband, “We will manage tonight’s dinner.”“I just wanted to help!” Emerald tried to protest.“I will ask Selina if needed. Now shoo away.” Abigail gave a little shove on her shoulder and started taking out veggies from the refrigerator.“You are still here, girl!” Hunter wiggled his brows, “Go get a massage. Spend some time away from this noi
When her flight landed in San Francisco, Patricia looked out of the window while stretching herself. Her favorite, warm and sunny San Francisco. The same one which she left last time in rage. And in pain. In that annual dinner, Rafael Wyatt did not even try to steal a glance her way. He seemed so uptight sitting there with Hunter and Abigail at the party. No matter how many times Abi tried to introduce them or tried to talk to him about their common interests he did not even budge. But he was a changed man on the screen when Emerald went to him at his movie celebration party and talked to him. He had this se*xy smile on his lips when he pulled her on the stage. Emerald must be hardly one year younger than her but her parents never treated her well. There was some old siblings’ rivalry with Cassandra but her parents always supported Cassie. Patricia loved her energy. After collecting her luggage, Patricia was pushing the trolley to the exit, observing different people at the airpo
