Chapter 3

2021-07-29 22:54:53After long hours of sleep, Olivia finally woke up at eight in the morning and went down. She walked into the kitchen and saw everyone munching on their breakfast on the chair in front of the table. This sight almost made her smile, but it didn’t last long because she suddenly had a flashback to her life four years ago.
They were a happy family back then. Her mother would always prepare delicious meals for them, and her father would always assist her mother in the kitchen. Until then, she and Ja... Uh, they used to laugh or fight until their parents served the food, and they spent their time together like any other happy family.
Olivia didn’t want to disturb their family moment, so she took a left and was about to return to her new room when Eliana called her name.
The universe, as usual, has other plans for her.
“Livy, good morning. Take a seat and join us for breakfast.”
She didn’t want to, but she knew she needed to eat something because she had eaten nothing for three days.
Olivia pushed herself towards them and sat opposite Caleb, who was once again watching her every move. She took a toast and ate it quietly, only speaking when called upon.
“How was your sleep, honey?” Eliana asked her gently.
“All right,” she muttered quietly.
The tension was palpable in the air, and she knew it was her fault, so she excused herself after a single toast, only to be interrupted once more.
“Livy, you only ate one toast; a growing girl like you needs to eat more,” she asked, a worried expression on her face.
“I am not really hungry,” she admitted quietly.
Olivia was not lying when she said she wasn't hungry. She used to enjoy eating, but not any longer. She is not dieting or concerned about her weight, but her appetite has deteriorated with her happiness over time.
“At the very least, sit with us for a while.” William insisted.
She sat down reluctantly, with a slight nod. Eliana began talking to Caleb about the party he was going to in order to alleviate the awkwardness. She even asked him to take Livy with him, which caused her to choke on the water she was slowly sipping.
“Mom, she does not know who they are. They don’t even know who she is. She will get bored there.” Caleb was giving Eliana excuses.
But only if he knows that the excuse which he was giving is not true at all. But she didn't care enough to correct him. As it is, she didn't want to attend any kind of party, but after a few seconds, an idea came to her.
“I won’t mind going to this party,” she said abruptly. “As you mentioned, I will be attending the same school as him, so this will be an excellent opportunity for me to get to know my peers. It will also serve as a nice distraction.”
This earned her a glare from Caleb.
“So, it’s settled then; you two are going to the party,” her godmother cheerfully stated.
“Be ready by seven,” Caleb said as he exited the room.
Olivia didn't want to make him angry or ruin his mood, but she had no choice. Anyway, she won't ruin his night at the party, so he should be fine.
She went to her room after saying her goodbyes to both of them.
The nerve of that girl!!
Caleb was beyond irritated at this point. When she showed up in the morning, he was actually feeling sorry for her and wanted to apologize for his behaviour the day before. But not right now, especially after the stunt she pulled.
When she was eating, he noticed that she had just eaten a single piece of toast. Even after the unknown tragic incident that occurred to her, she desired to maintain her body.
Sick!
Maybe he isn't aware of the incident, but he is sure that something terrible happened to cause her to be shipped here to live with her godparents. He didn't even know who his parents' best friends were, let alone her. He may have seen their picture as a child, but he has no recollection of it.
But that's beside the point.
Caleb isn't sure why, but he's been feeling a wave of unspoken rage towards her that's growing over time, especially since she agreed to go to a party with him. If Olivia believes he will be present at the party with her, she is mistaken because he will not be there to babysit her. His only responsibility is to drive her to the party and drop her off. That's all there is to it.

“Livy, Livy.” Olivia heard someone call her name and shaking her a little. “Livy honey, get up.” A female voice said. Olivia opened her eyes slowly and saw two figures towering over her. It was a little dizzy at first, but after a few seconds, the picture became clearer. She slowly rose from the bench that had served as her bed the night before and noticed Eliana and William kneeling in front of her. “Good Gracious! You finally woke up, Olivia.” Eliana exclaimed. “Why were you sleeping here, Livy?” William inquired, a worried expression on his face. Because your son assumed I was already in bed and locked the door without even checking on me. Not that it was my fault, but I was severely beaten up by a stranger who could have been a rapist yesterday. “I woke up early, so I came here to take a breath of fresh air. Olivia was delighted today. Not because she was beaten up, but because she met Cameron the day before. His innocent expression always makes her smile. Of course, she cannot support him, but she can be a better and stronger person for him. He is the only person she has left who is of her own blood. She went downstairs and sat with the Knights' family with great enthusiasm. “You look happy now, and you have done a good job hiding your bruise,” Eliana said. “Yes, I suppose you are correct. Olivia quietly packed all of her belongings. It had only been fifteen minutes since Caleb expressed his views about her. She gathered all of her thoughts and packed her bags. Since she had only two bags, it didn't take her long. It was one in the morning, and it was the perfect time for her to leave this house. She will be eternally grateful to the Knights for allowing her to stay in this house for so long. She greatly admires them for it. Olivia walked downstairs silently with her two bags, making no noises. Finally, she closed the door shut and exited their home for good. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined herself returning to this house. Not anytime soon, but it is the only place she can truly call her own. It was only a ten-minute walk from Knight's house. He couldn't bring himself to respond to the question. Olivia has been missing because of him for God knows how long. He didn't have any choice but to tell them the truth. So he told them everything. “Caleb, for the love of God, stop assuming things. I am highly disappointed with you. I never imagined a day when you, of all people, would let me down.” With that, his mother stormed out of the room. Everything was blurry when Olivia opened her eyes. Her head was a little dizzy, and she was suffering from a severe headache. Olivia got up early to get ready for school. She was surprisingly calm about returning to school here. She wore skinny black jeans and a red full-sleeve check-shirt today. She donned her hair in a ponytail with two strands of hair dangling from it and a bang that covered a portion of her eyes. She applied black eyeliner and a baby pink lip gloss.
