"Good morning," I wished Mr Knight as I entered his office to serve him his coffee. His ignorant ass of course didn't wish me back. But I was used to it by now. I proceeded to keep his coffee on his desk when I noticed something.
He looked a little pale than usual. His eyes looked tired and he was breathing a little more heavily. He almost looked vulnerable."Are.. are you ok Mr Knight?" I couldn't help but worry. He chose to stay quiet and continue doing whatever he was doing on his laptop. Suddenly his head rocked a little as his hand shot up to clutch the side of his head."Oh God! Are you ok?" I instantly rushed to his side to keep him in place. His eyes closed momentarily as he released a deep sigh. I placed my palms on his forehead only to find out he was burning. He had a fever, and he was here this early in the morning working his ass off. Is he serious?"Mr. Knight, you have a fever." I gasped out."Just leave me alone. Get out right now," his voice boomed in the office as I flinched back at the sudden reaction.I made my way out but for some reason my mind went back to him. He was not okay. Without thinking I rushed out of the office to a nearby cafe and bought him a sandwich and a donut along with an alaska shake to have. I knew I was running short on money and I would have to sleep empty stomach again today since I still haven't received my paycheck, but helping a person comes before anything else. I'm sure this man doesn't even have his breakfast properly. I stopped at a medical store to buy some pain killers and medicines for his fever.I rushed back to the building and hurried to his office only to find him passed out on his chair. His head was pulled to the side with his eyes closed and his lips slightly ajar."Oh God!" I gasped at the sight."Mr Knight," I shook him slightly after keeping the things that I just bought on his table. He groaned slightly before his eyes finally opened, I handed him a glass of water which he swallowed down in a gulp. His breathing was still a little uneven but better than before."Here, have this," I handed him the medicines I bought. He chucked them down without questioning. His hair was slightly damp, maybe because he was sweating a little. They were stuck on his forehead, irritating his eyes. So I tried tucking them to the side. But before I could do that, he immediately pushed my hand away to which I flinched the second time since morning."Don't you dare touch me!" I was shocked at his sudden outburst and honestly, a little hurt. All I was trying to do was help."I...I.." I didn't know what to say after this. But he beat me to it."Go back to your office and bring me the files on the new project once you are done with them." He ordered. I nodded my head, still a little shocked at his rude behavior. I turned on my heels to leave but stopped when he called out for me. I turned to look at him expecting him to say sorry but his next words shocked me even more."Don't you dare spill anything about what just happened or you will regret it." I only nodded at his demand. Of course I was not going to talk about this to anyone. And with that I finally left. Two hours later when I returned to deliver him the files he asked for, I saw the sandwich, donut and the drink that I got for him were all gone except for the shopping bag that they were in. I suppressed a smile, knowing at least he had something to eat. He didn't look up when I kept the files on his desk , so I left without saying a word to him . The rest of the day went in a blur as I finally reached my house to have a peaceful night.Grace 's PovWe were making our way to this restaurant where he had to meet someone for a business meeting. I was in his car and the tension was thick. The silence was threatening and the hard expression on his face didn't help at all. We were at the restaurant in a few minutes. A guard opened my gate and helped me out. I thanked him softly before moving behind Mr. Knight, as he continued walking in his powerful strides. I had to run a little to keep up with him. We were escorted to a private area by the workers as soon as they recognized Mr. Knight. I saw that the person we had to meet was already there, and we joined him at the table. "Hello Mr Knight. It's nice to meet you finally." He offered his hand and Mr Knight accepted, shaking it firmly. "What is the reason that you wanted to meet me in a hurry Mr. Worthing?" Mr. Knight asked as he took a sip from his coffee. "Well Mr. Knight, I thought of the tempting deal you had offered my company a few weeks back. I have made up my mi
Grace's POV The next morning I made my way to my cabin, not before wishing Valentina a good morning who returned it with a big smile. I placed my things on my desk before moving out to grab some coffee for Mr Knight. I took the cup in my hand along with a sandwich I had bought for him on the way, knowing he doesn't have breakfast. I gently knocked on the door and entered after hearing a stern come in. I wished him as I placed the coffee and sandwich on his desk. He eyed the sandwich curiously before concentrating back on his work. "What do I have on schedule today?" He kept his eyes locked on the laptop. "You just have a meeting today with Mr Steve to further discuss the project." I explained. For some reason I don't know, I didn't trust this Mr Steve. I mean that day at the meeting the way he was looking at me did not feel right. And then he even commented about me casually to Mr Knight. That too right in front of me. His eyes gave away something. Something mischievous. My sixth s
GRACE'S POVI went to my cabin, still trembling a little from the incident that occurred not minutes ago. I redid the whole document and made sure to re-check it over and over again before finally submitting it to Mr Knight. He didn't even acknowledge my presence as I made my way into his office and placed the document on his desk. I asked if he needed anything else. Not getting a reply in return, I just turned around to leave. I sat on my chair before calming myself. Was I ever going to have a simple life without having to worry about money anymore? With having someone to care about me. Why did you leave me so early mom? Just why? A tear leaked from my eye at the memories I had with her. My mind trailed off to the days when we were all happy, living together as a family. With my elder brother always there to look after me and to kiss my boo boos when I got hurt. Was he doing alright now? Had he settled down in life? Had he taken over dad's business as it was planned? I just hoped
Grace's pov Two days. Just two days left. And she'll kick me out. I can't believe I wasted a whole day just like that. I finally slammed my laptop shut when I couldn't find a reasonable side job that could help me generate a few dollars in two days. They at least required you to work for a week. Like come on! Can't they hire someone as a helper for two days? I saw the clock starting at 8 am. Yep. I stayed up all night. I dragged myself to the bathroom and took a shower and got changed for the office, all the time worrying over the fact that if I don't have enough money in two days, I will have no place to live in. Reaching the office, Valentina stopped me before I made my way to the elevator. "You ok?" She sounded worried. "You don't look so good." I gave her a half-hearted smile, "I'm fine, just a little tired," I explained and she scowled at my words. "I can literally see those dark circles under your eyes. Not to mention it looks like you lost a couple of pounds." She st
Grace I was ready for the event, waiting for the car to arrive at my door. I heard a horn, indicating the car was here. I looked at myself once in the mirror, before leaving and locking my door. When I turned around to face the car, my eyes bulged out of my sockets. I saw a brand new Limo waiting outside my door. The driver stepped out from his seat and opened the door for me. I thanked him before sitting in and he quietly drove us to our destination. He opened the door once again for me as I stepped out. I looked in front to see paparazzi surrounding the front gate of the hall. Their eyes immediately turned towards me. Without paying more attention to it, I decided to head in, trying to escape the countless cameras flashing in my direction. "You are one pretty lady." I heard a camera man saying to me. I turned to face him. "You could do an excellent job as a model." He handed me a card. "My company is recently looking for ethereal beauties like you. Give it a call if you are i
Grace I plopped down on my bed after kicking off my heels. I groaned, staring at the ceiling. Why can't things go my way for once? Another day wasted. If I don't pay tomorrow, then I won't have a place to live! God please help me! I beg you! I got up and changed out of the dress. My stomach growled, making me glare at it. Moving towards my kitchen, I grabbed an instant noodles packet from the cabinet and started boiling it. After having my so-called dinner, I succumbed to sleep. The next day, I was extra nervous when I made my way to the office. This didn't go unnoticed by many people and Stephen even approached me to ask if I was ok. Giving him a fake smile and a polite answer, I started making my way to the employee's elevator. But I stopped in my tracks when dizziness enveloped my head. I swayed a little, stumbling on my feet but still managed to balance myself. Stephen was quick to run to me and hold me by my shoulders. "Woah there! What is happening to you? You are definit
Author's pov Ashton felt his blood boil, as he waited for Grace to show up. Five minutes had passed since the meeting had started, and she was nowhere to be seen. He sighed from frustration, tapping his feet impatiently against the wooden floor. His eyes traveled to Mr. Steve who was sitting opposite to him on the long rectangular table. Not being able to control his anger anymore, he called for Stella. "Where is Grace?" he questioned her in his hard tone as soon as she entered the hall. Not wanting to anger him anymore, she decided to reply. "I didn't really see her anywhere in the office today Mr. Knight." She said while looking down at the ground. Ashton, irritated with the whole situation, ran his fingers through his hair. Sighing furiously, he got up from his seat and made his way to the glass wall behind him, that gave him a clear view of the city. Trying to calm himself, he closed his eyes momentarily before opening them back again. But that didn't help him either. In f
Adrian's POV Grace told me her whole story. And I couldn't believe she was indeed the 'Grace Miller' who was working as P.A for Ashton knight a.k.a. my best friend. She told me how he treated her like shit. Honestly I knew if there was any other girl in her place, he would have treated her the same. After what his mother did with his father, he had a stigma attached to women. 'They are nothing but gold diggers' that was his belief. I felt really angry after knowing how terribly he fired her like that. He should have at least given her a chance to clarify the situation. But no. I knew my best friend Ashton Knight to always act on impulse and then regret later. I didn't want to keep Grace in the dark by not telling the relationship I had with Ashton. It wouldn't have been fair to her. But that didn't mean I would not support her. Hell I will not let him come close to Grace anymore. She had already suffered so much. And I can't let that happen again. But that also didn't mean that
Five years had flown by, and their once-tiny bundle of joy, Noah, was now a spirited four-year-old with a heart as big as his imagination. It was a sunny morning, and the aroma of excitement filled the air in the spacious kitchen of their luxurious mansion. Today was a special day—it was Grace's birthday, and both Ashton and Noah were determined to make it unforgettable.Ashton, donned an apron with as much determination as he approached his business deals. Beside him, Noah stood on a chair, his eyes wide with anticipation, wearing a miniature apron that read "Little Chef.""Alright, buddy, today we're baking the most amazing cake for Mama," Ashton declared, surveying the array of ingredients spread across the kitchen counter. Flour dusted the air as he attempted to pour it into a mixing bowl, but a gust of wind, courtesy of Noah's enthusiastic clapping, sent the flour swirling in all directions."Yesh Dad! We got this!" Noah grinned, his laughter filling the room. With Ashton's guidan
Author's Pov "You look breathtaking," Ashton mumbled against Grace's lips as he continued to push her through the main gates of their home, locked in an intense liplock. Grace was lost in the searing heat of the kiss, her mind hazy with the sensual touches of Ashton on her body. "Too bad, the look's going to be ruined in a few minutes." He led her through the living room pulling her veil off, not having patience to finally make her his. He had given all the staff off for the day to not have any interruptions on their wedding night. The man was so impatient, as soon as the car halted outside the gate, he rushed out from his door to Grace's side, instantly pulling her out and smashing his lips on hers, not even waiting to get in. "Fuck," he let out a groan, cupping her breast giving it a squeeze earning a sinful moan from her lips. "Jump," he ordered and she immediately obliged to his command. His hands went to cup her hips as she wrapped her legs around his waist, instantly feeling t
Author’s Pov In the soft morning light, Ashton Knight stood before the mirror, his fingers fumbling with the silk tie that would soon rest beneath his crisp collar. The room was filled with a quiet buzz, the scent of cologne lingering in the air as he prepared himself for the most significant day of his life. His reflection stared back, eyes reflecting a mixture of nervous anticipation and boundless excitement. The weight of the moment settled on his shoulders, a beautiful blend of anxiety and joy. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach, their delicate wings a testament to the magnitude of the occasion. Each precise movement as he buttoned his white suit jacket and adjusted his cufflinks, a silent vow to be the best version of himself for Grace. As he ran a hand through his hair, Ashton couldn't help but smile, the corners of his lips curving upward in sheer happiness. Today, he would make a promise that would echo through a lifetime, a commitment to love, cherish, and protect. The tho
Author's pov The day was here. Grace couldn't help but feel her stomach churn in excitement and nervousness at the same time. If a year before someone would have told her she would be getting married to Ashton Knight then she would have blatantly laughed at the person for even having such a ridiculous and foolish thought. Her brain played a movie of all the flashbacks and memories she had spent with Ashton from the first day she met his obnoxious being to the day she started loving him. Yes, she hadn't told him that yet, but Grace Miller had fallen in love with Ashton Knight. If not, then she wouldn't have said yes to getting married to him in the first place. She giggled lightly remembering the times where he actually made her hate his guts. Just how fast the night changes. "I'm pretty sure whatever you are imagining is very pleasant but I need you to stop giggling Grace or I'll mess up your lipstick," the make-up artist scolded her like a child. "Sorry," she fought the urge to
Ashton's Pov My face contorted with fury as I remembered watching the security footage, my fists clenched in white-knuckled rage. The screen displayed the horrifying moment when the muggers attacked Grace. Determination had burned in my eyes as I made my men trace the motorbike's number plate, my mind calculating the best way to make them pay for their act. And right after two days, I was successful in finding those bastards alive. "They are in there Boss," I gave a single nod to my secretary, Luke, someone who I always ring up for these grave matters. With swift, purposeful steps, I made my way to the hidden torture room I had prepared for my special guests. The air was thick with tension as I entered, the dim light casting eerie shadows on the walls. My footsteps echoed in the cold, metallic space, amplifying the gravity of my intent. The two bastards were bound to chairs, their eyes wide with fear as they realized the tables had turned. My voice was low and dangerous as I appr
Author's PovIt had been two weeks now and and Grace had recovered from her head injury. It wasn't very severe to begin with. Things would have been a lot different if the person had actually shot her instead of hitting her with the gun. Although she did suffer with a mild concussion for a few days. But everything was well now. And things had gotten back on track. Preparations for the wedding were now complete. "Damn, I can't believe all the days just flew and my big day is tomorrow!" Macy exasperated, dropping on the couch. "I know right?" Grace added. "I am so nervous. Gosh I don't know what will happen tomorrow. What if I fall walking down the aisle. What if…." "Calm down woman. Noting is going to happen. And I know you are going to slay your model walk down the aisle." Grace cut her off to calm her nerves. "Are you mocking? I am not supposed to model walk tomorrow!" "Hahah, given the enthusiastic freak you are, I can already imagine you doing that.""Shut up," Macy threw a
Ashton's povMy heart leapt out of my chest when I heard the words on the call. Grace is in the hospital, we were mugged. They hit her with their gun. Macy had called me immediately after telling me that Adrian was already on his way. I literally raced against time, breaking all speeding rules to get to her as soon as I could, all the while praying nothing happened to her. My pulse quickened, sending a frantic rhythm through my veins as I clutched the steering wheel with white-knuckled determination. The tires of my car squealed in protest as I accelerated, the engine's roar mirroring the turmoil inside me. My knitted brows were a testament to the fear and urgency that gripped me.The world outside my car window became a whirlwind of blurred neon lights and indistinct shapes, each passing streetlamp casting fleeting, eerie shadows across my face. This was not how the night was supposed to end. They were supposed to enjoy it cozed up in their pillow fort ending it with a movie. She
Grace Pov"What do you think about this one?" I pointed at yet another bridal dress hoping Macy would take a liking to it. "I'm not sure. Those flower patterns are not my type," this girl is never going to find her wedding dress like this. We've been out for three hours now and she has rejected every dress that was shown to her. "I was thinking about something with a slit maybe?" "Oh God Macy! You could have said that a lot earlier and by now we would have been done," I know I hate shopping but it's her big day and everything has to be perfect so I'm trying my best to keep my calm. I love her of course and my brother. And for them I could put up with this whole situation. "Ok, let me try this one," she took a beautiful white dress from the rack with a slit running on one side before going into the changing room. I decided to sit before my phone rang. Obviously it had to be Ashton. "How's my life doing? I hope your sister in law isn't making you regret your decision?" He cheered up
Grace's Pov The last week has been nothing but a bliss for me. Ashton did not miss a single moment to prove his love for me and to shower kisses whenever he saw the moment. The days I worked from his office were extremely delightful as everytime after working hours, we would go out to eat and then hit my favorite spot near a secluded lake. We would spend our time star gazing and then suddenly the air would get hot and make us end up in crazy sensual, most bombastic makeout sessions that I have fallen in love with. His kisses are something else. The feel of his lips, the way he takes control, almost makes me want to lose myself in him completely. We have kissed in places that I never imagined I would have in the first place. Having full blown make out sessions in the car and his office was nothing compared to the ones where he would sneak into the ladies bathroom and surprise me to have some fun. Not only this but once we got so lost in making out in the coffee machine room that he for
