Chapter 55

VIVIAN POV

"What? Why the eye, I didn't do anything," I said, glaring at Kian. His piercing gaze made me feel uneasy, like he could see right through me.

Mira stepped in, her voice soft and calming. "Come on, Mother, let me escort you to your room."

"Go, Mom," Kian said firmly, his eyes never leaving mine. "Mira, take her inside. You both help each other out, either way, just go, I am exhausted."

Mira nodded and gently took Martha’s arm, leading themselves away. But noticed she did not say a word, turned out she wanted to act victim in front of Kian.

As Mira and Martha disappeared from view, Kian turned to me, his eyes filled with concern. "Vivian, can you be a little more careful?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of frustration.

I looked down at my feet, feeling a twinge of guilt. "It’s nothing, I am fine." I said, waving my hand dismissively.

But Kian wasn't having it. He strode towards me, his long legs eating up the distance. Before I knew it, he had scooped me up in his arm
