William Asher opened the cottage door looking for Maya. He raised that girl to the best of his abilities; also knowing the Doom Cemetery environment wasn’t the right place to raised her. He once applied to get her into a school for girls but she refused pointedly. A quick search revealed Maya wasn’t home.
“Hello Dad,”The older man stood motionless looking at his only son. He kept his face expressionless; being on guard. He doesn’t trust his son.“What do you want; Billy?”“I need your help.”“I don’t want to help you. Whatever trouble you are in; sort it yourself.”William need to get out of the cottage. He doesn’t want Maya to walk in on them. He grabbed the shovel he briefly placed against the cabinet. He pushed past his son. “Get out of my way.”“I need your help Dad.” He quickly grabbed hold of his arm.“Let go,” William pushed him out of the way.He walked towards the area where he needed to dig the new grave. He starts to work but kept his eyes on his son who seemed very nervous.“How can you live in a place like this Dad?”Billy Asher looked towards the black gates. He knows it’s just a question of time before they found him. He studied the row of graves, noticed the black crows sitting on some headstones looking at him.“This place is creepy.” He observed.“Feel free to leave then. I certainly didn’t invite you here.”William leaned on the shovel looking at his son. It was clear he was nervous since he kept looking towards the closed gates. “How did you get onto the grounds Billy?”“The gates were opened.” He said shortly; clearly on edge.“No, it wasn’t. The people getting into this place comes with an invitation. What did you do? Who did you betray? I don’t want trouble around me.”“I am in a bit of a jam. I need money.”“I don’t have any.” William start shoveling again.“You are lying. It’s clear you never leave this place. You must have a good amount of money stash away.”“I don’t Billy.”“I never ask you for anything. Help me out Dad.”“No, and I want you to leave.”Father and son looked pointedly at each other. The hostility clear between them...Maya slowly climbed from the satin covered coffin. She felt tense and afraid to looked around. She was definitely not alone. The dimly lit tomb makes it possible for her to see. She can see the door leading to the outside.“You are free to go.”Thomas Roman said softly from somewhere behind her or rather from within the coffin.Maya felt the unbelievable strong urge to look around but once she saw the truth of where she was; it would become instant clear reality.“I understand.” He said softly.“What are you talking about?” Maya felt her body already turning before realization dawn. She has now fully turned around but everything was in darkness.“If you want to know the truth; you should open your eyes.” He suggests with a teasing tone of voice.“Can you…can you read minds” she asked openly uncertain.“Yes, I can but only if I choose too. There is currently no need. Your body language is very obvious.”Maya stood there with closed eyes just nodding her head like she was in complete agreement. She can hear her own heart beat throbbing in her throat and fast-paced in her chest. It took a moment but she managed to calm the thundering sound in her ears.“What you said…” she asked uncertain.“What did I say?” he asked gently.“Who are you?”“I am Thomas Roman.”“Are you lying?” she asked sounding scared.“Why would I Maya?”“You know my name?” she asked with rising panic. She opened her eyes looking directly at the coffin. It was empty. Indecisive if she should be relief or more afraid. There was a notion in her mind but she actively avoids the possibility of that knowledge.“Where are you?” she now sounds puzzled.“I am here.” He answered from somewhere in the dark.“I can’t see you.” Maya kept looking around.“You are not ready to look at me. I am Thomas Roman. I was reborn in the year 1919. I used to live in Europe.”Maya stayed motionless trying to comprehend what the man was telling her. The words over familiar but she tries her best to deny what she was thinking.“Are you playing a joke on me?” she questioned with sudden building fury. The notion makes sense since it’s her birthday. “Do you know Olivia Stone? Are you part of her crowd, the cruel pranking gang?” her voice suddenly broke with sadness and instant building anger rising inside of her. She refuses to be vulnerable in front of a stranger she can’t see.“I am my own being. I don’t belong in groups of stupidity.”“I think you are lying to me.”“I am not,” he said softly convincingly.“Those girls trapped me in a bloody coffin. Their intent was clear but I don’t understand why?” Her puzzlement clearly evident. “I think I should get out of here.” She snapped with renewed building anger. The words barely left her lips when she saw the door slowly opened. The constant mistiness from the cemetery sneaked into the tomb. She just stood within the opened door looking back inside but there was nothing. The coffin was closed.“Hello? Where are you?”Only her voice echoes around the tomb with no answer. Taking a deep breath, she stepped back inside. With trembling hands, she slowly lifted the crown that is the top portion of the coffin. Relief and strangely disappointed she found it empty.“I am going crazy,” she whispered as she stepped out of the tomb. The door shut firmly behind her. This startled her into running…William realized the moment his son would hit him. The truth was he has been waiting for this attack twenty-three years. He prays he would survive the attack; he can’t leave Maya with hanging questions.“If you are not going to help me Dad, I will just have to take the money. I am no fool.” Billy hits his father over the head with a rock. He watched as he falls into the freshly dig grave. He saw the instant blood appeared at the side of his head. “Look at what you made me do Dad? You should have helped me.” He looked around for the shovel. He realized it was still in his father’s hand.“Shit,” he hissed. A sudden chill went through his body. He senses danger on his skin. He looked around. The mist was heavy and thick. He can barely see in front of him.“Now where is that bloody cottage? I can’t see anything in front of me.” The words barely left his lips when he noticed movement just ahead of him. He quickly follows with the sense of not being alone. He has the strange notion the mist was alive.“Papa,” Maya called. The moment she stepped into the cottage she just knew something was wrong. She starts to realized her birthday might be jinxed. She stepped outside. The mist was very heavy. Her experienced eyes looked at the wet ground. She quickly noticed two sets of male footprints. She recognized the one set belonging to her grandfather.Instant concern gripped her heart. He was her only family.“Papa? Where are you?”She closed the cottage door behind her. Looking around searching for movement. Her own body stayed motionless waiting. It took a couple of minutes before she noticed quick movement. She knows these grounds like the palm of her hands. Something was wrong here. There seemed to be strangers around here.“Who is out there?”She only received silence but the quietness felt eerie. Once the mist completely swirls around her, she quickly changed her position. Since she was over familiar with the grounds; she quickly changed her direction moving swiftly towards the newly acquired plot that needs to be dig today. She truly hopes to find her grandfather there. It was clear there were strangers on the grounds, making sure she stays out of sight moving swiftly. The mist was heavy. She nearly walked into the open grave freshly dig. She looked around before peering into the grave.“Papa,” she called shocked. She instantly jumped into the grave. She knelt beside him. Apart from the blood she found a strong pulse.“What is going on here? Are this strangers’ grave thieves?” she whispered. “How on earth will I get you out of here Papa?”She quickly scrambled out of the grave looking around.“Hmm,” groaned her grandfather just suddenly behind her. She quickly turned around fast very surprise.“Papa…how on earth?” She kneels beside him confused. “Are you okay?”“Help me Maya,” he asked softly. She quickly lifts his arm wrapping it around her neck before she bodily starts to lift him slowly from the ground. She might be slender but she feels her own strength surging throughout her body as she helps him into maneuverability.“What’s going on here?” Billy found himself completely disoriented. No matter how he tried he just can’t seem to see in front of him.“This way,” Thomas whispered softly as he had instantly recognized Billy as the same man who from the year 2000.“Where are you?” Billy feels nervous.“Follow my voice.” Thomas decided to play cat and mouse with him.“I can’t see you.” Billy was worried.“I am here. Just opened your eyes.”Billy keep moving forward. He can feel someone breathing down his neck. This was strange since he was a tall man. Try as he might he just can’t see anyone to save his life.“There you are; Billy-boy.”The two-gun men quickly approached him. The weapons were pointed at him.“Are you trying to play games with us Billy-boy?” Andy asked.“No,” Billy looked around nervously. “This place gives me the creeps.”“Where is our money, Billy-boy?” Andy questions but kept looking around having the odd notion someone was breathing down his neck. He second the other guy’s opinion that the graveyard was indeed creepy.“I don’t have it.” Billy also kept looking around trying to shake the cold from his body.“Wrong answer Billy-boy.”“I know where to find the money.” Billy answered hastily.“Really!” Andy fired a quick shot into a nearby grave stone.“Yes…yes, I just can’t find the bloody cottage.” He admits. “This place is confusing the hell out of me.”“What cottage?” Andy absently studied the moving mistiness. He definitely has the sense its alive.“The place where my father is staying.”“Where is that?” Andy was suspicious and annoyed with a touch of fear. He keeps feeling the presence of someone. “Where is your father, Billy-boy?”“He won’t be a problem. I had taken care of him. Billy nervously admits.“You saying you are stealing from him to pay your debt?” Andy was instantly furious. He wants his money but he dislike men like the one in front of him. Thieves should have a kind of honor.“He won’t miss it. Look at the fucking place where he lives. He had a huge amount of money stashed away.” Billy said eagerly trying to safe his own skin.“Wait here Papa.” Maya carefully made her grandfather sit down on the bench. “How do you feel?”“Just dizzy.”“Wait here for me. I will quickly go look for drunk Johnny.”“Maya…be careful.”“I promise. Don’t leave me papa.” She quickly sits down beside him taking hold of his hand.“Just hurry back.” William watch her quickly disappear within the thickness of the mist. He quietly prays that his useless son has already left. He kept her safe for twenty-three years. Once Billy catch sight of her; he might lose her. He tried looking for the pale man but the mist stayed eerily thick.Maya moved swiftly between the rows of graves. She knows this place like the back of her hands. Her steps were secure. Just ahead of her she hears sudden angry voices. Carefully now moving forward wondering who it might be. “Could it be the people who attack my papa?” she whispered softly.Everyone knows Doom Cemetery is off-limits. Should you enter without permission; there is a price to pay. She once questioned her grandfather about the graves wondering why there were never truly crosses around…he told her the records showed it was non-believers who died but the grounds were enchanted. They had eternal peace with no disturbance but if you violate the graves unrest will follow you.“There is three just ahead. Careful…” Thomas said softly.“Who said that?” Billy was instantly anxious not liking the voice that sounds in his head.“What are you talking about Billy-boy? I said nothing.” Andy was annoyed glaring at the other man.“Didn’t you hear that?”“What?”“Be quiet and listen.” Billy insists with rising panic.“I will take two. You get the other one.” Thomas said laughing eerily with a satisfied voice.“Run…” Billy screamed. All three men instantly scattered into different directions.Maya stood motionless; listening; waiting. She senses something was about to happen. She kept looking at the mist covered path. She looked back but can’t see her grandfather. When she looked forward again, she saw the man running towards her but he kept looking over his shoulder. It took him a moment before he realized someone was right in his path. His frightened speed makes it impossible to stop in time. He bodily runs right into her.Maya felt herself flying through the air before she landed on the wet grass. Her head snapped back while the mist swirl around her. The images of the man shocked; his expression distorted in profile.“Gia…” she heard him say. “You are dead…” he said in rising fear.Maya slowly get onto her feet watching as the familiar face just younger than her grandfather; took flight. He had seen the pale man just behind…Gia…Maya stood there looking puzzled…the premonition had revealed distorted images…“Who is Gia?” she questions her words echoing around her completely unaware of who stood behind her... in protective mode.“Maya…Maya…” She tried searching for the person calling her. The mist stayed heavy and the night dark. She wanted to move forward but she felt her body being held down. It took considerable effort before she managed to calm her body. Now she just stayed motionless. She slowly closed her eyes. “Maya…look,” said the voice softly in her ear. She slowly opened her eyes. Fragmented images of blood appeared on the white wall in front of her. She felt a kind of cloying wetness on her skin. Her breathing sounds labored; the throbbing of her heart beat loud in her ears. “Maya…feel the fear,” whispered the voice. “I am not afraid,” she admits her truth settled in the depths of her heart. Suddenly it felt like her head was shaking from side to side…memories clouded in mistiness. An awaited touch…electrified…possibility of an intended kiss; senses passionate protection…. “Gia…” the name slipped from her lips. She tried to open her eyes but something stayed dark in front of her vision. Anoth
It took a moment before Maya managed to get her run away emotions under control. The very presence of the man in front of her has her overwhelm but also strangely at ease. She slowly stepped away from him. She took a deep breath before lifting her head to looked into his face. She stood still just studying his expression.“Hi,” she said softly, while she kept looking. She stood motionless just looking at his expression. Her immediate thought he looked like the models of the covers of romance novels.“Do you like what you see Maya?” he asked softly…teasingly. She said nothing just keep looking at him. She slowly studies the contours of his face; noticed the black thickness of his hair that just covers his shoulders in length. His nose straight just above his thin upper lip and full lower lip. What kept pulling her towards him was his bleak blueish eyes. The longer she kept looking the more it changes in color and depth.“Thomas Roman, you said.” She queries in a tone of questioning yet
Maya flees from the cottage. The moment she was outside; the heavy mist was cloyingly thick. She can’t see in front of her. Her feet keep moving forward; the destination uncertain;“Maya! Wait!”The calling of her name just spurs her on. She kept running. She kept stumbling. When she looked up again, she saw the black gates right in front of her. She quickly rushes forward. She can’t go any further. In her frantic mind it dawns on her the gates were lock.“Maya, where are you?”She spins around looking behind her but she can’t see anyone. Her heart still beat fast in her throat. After a couple of moments, she still didn’t see anyone. She does know it was just a question of time before they both find her.Thomas knew precisely where she was. He chooses not to frightened her further. He kept his pace with the old man. Quietly he realized he was behaving like he was still human. This behavior was very strange and certainly out of character. He clearly understood his thoughts and concerns
Maya slowly walked amongst the graves. She kept looking at the headstones. She had grown up here but today it took a moment before she realized, the stones only carry the name in the grave not the date of birth or when that person had died.“This is very odd,” she mumbles. It took another moment before she realized she stood close to Thomas’s tomb. The memory comes flooding back remembering how that stupid girls had managed to trap her in there.“Waking up in there I didn’t realized what I would uncover. I always thought my life was simple and ordinary, but apparently not.” She voiced her though out loud. She steps closer to the tomb searching for a way inside. She can’t seem to find something that would suggest that’s the way in. She was so intended that she didn’t realized she wasn’t alone.“Are you missing your future house Maya?” Olivia Stone stood slightly behind her. She wasn’t alone. The two girls with her clearly was not aware of her cruel streak.Maya had turned watching the
“Maya…” The girl turned away from the window when she heard her name being called. She kept looking at the door, her hands hanging nervously at her sides. Since she called him that night a week ago; she found herself in another place. “There you are. Why didn’t you answer?” Thomas stepped into the lavish living room. He was dressed in a very expensive suit and a blood red shirt. He was a completely different man then the one whom she discovered in the Cemetery. “Hi,” she answered nervously. “Are you okay Maya?” he now stood right in front of her reaching out to take hold of her hands. He softly brushed with his lips over the texture of her skin. Again, those little sparks of instant attractions. He has such a gentle look in his eyes that the very look simply pulled her closer to him. “I am not sure Thomas,” she answered softly. “Talk to me and tell me what’s wrong.” “This might seem silly especially saying out loud.” “Maya, be honest with me.” “You know I grew up living in a c
“Maya may I tell you something? It’s silly, called it cliché but I want you to know this.” “I am curious.” She still nestles securely against his chest. In truth she never truly craves human touch but everything is so different yet natural with him. “I had watch you grow into the beautiful person that you are. I think I realized the truth from my being when you turned eighteen. I found absolute pleasure in watching you smile, the way the corners of your lips curves.” Maya blushed but said nothing. His hand lay softly across her heart. He can feel the strong beating. She suddenly felt his lips against her neck softly kissing the artery there. “Are you hungry Maya? I noticed lately that you don’t eat much.” He kept his arms tightly around her body. He was aware of all her emotions but he kept them to himself. “I don’t have much of an appetite.” “Why is that?” “I feel nervous…uncertain. The truth is I am not sure what to make of my future.” Her finger start caressing the enchanted
Thomas stood in front of the window holding a glass of blood. He drinks thoughtfully thinking about the girl who brought a strange change within him. The times when he was amongst humans; he found them self-centered after what he had given them. “I want an explanation Thomas.” Adam Blake was furious. The man who just appeared in his office earlier stood motionless drinking his blood. He wasn’t even listening. He slowly turned to watched the man he found on the back-alley scrambling to survive. He had given him a life but now looking back he certainly doesn’t appreciate what he had become. “I don’t own you anything.” He drinks the last drop of blood. His bluesish eyes almost white before changing colors. The continuous changing of shades the result of his thoughts. He slowly went and sit down in the chair. The look in his eyes burning the other man. “I don’t understand your current behavior.” Adam said flatly. “You know I could throttle you if I want to.” Thomas observed casually.
Gia sits motionless in the darkest corner of the gardens. Since she had slipped away from the doctor, she holds onto the photo like it’s the most precious thing. She treasures the little paper pretending its her daughter she was holding against her heart. She can feel her heart beat throbbing in her throat as her thoughts wanders back to that day in Doom Cemetery.“Maya…” her voice just a whisper. She only nursed her baby for seven days before she left and never looked back.“Bastard,” she hissed while remembering her husband. “You are the reason I didn’t see my child growing up. Now after many years; the first time I see her is on a photo taken by an outsider.” Silent tears stream down her face. After sometime she finally looked at the cell number scrawl down on the back of the photo. Turning the photo around to look at the face so similar to her own.“Would you answer if I call?” she asked the girl who only slightly smile while looking past the camera. It appears she wasn’t aware of
Maya and Gia left the Stone Estate together. There currently were an awkward silence between them. They found there way out the gates now walking in the middle of the road. Maya was very worried about Thomas. Since they were separated not once did, she managed to contact him.“May I ask something?’ she stop walking a moment looking at the woman who was her mother by name but in reality, a stranger.“I am listening.” Gia keep her voice neutral.“Did you see Thomas? Is he okay?”“No…he is trapped.”“Did he harm you?”Gia looked directly at her a slight frown between her eyes. “Do you fully realize who he truly is?”“A vampire, yes.”“Did you see him transform?” Gia asks hesitantly.“What are you trying to say?”“I am just wondering if you truly know who he is?” Gia start walking.Maya watch her with mix feelings. In truth she only knows what Thomas told her. He managed to kept her away from who he truly was. Right from the first he decided to behave like he once did as a human. For her
“Maya…” Gia slowly opened her eyes hearing the name slipped over her lips. She realized she had fallen asleep on the cold floor. Slowly shifting into a sitting position, she tried looking around. She realized the lightening was better in the room. Now focused she looked around to understand her surroundings. The bedroom was trashed but it appears as though she was alone. Slowly getting onto her feet she opened her hand, the ring still nestled in her palm. She slowly walked towards the door and turned the doorknob. It opened. Stepping outside she was now in the hall going downstairs. The mansion was eerily quiet. As she approached the front door the butler suddenly made an appearance.“Can I help you?” he asked politely.Gia turned to face the man dressed in black looking gloomy. A feeling of instant annoyance washes over her body. “No,” she said snappishly.“It is y duty to be of assistance ma’am.”Gia only square her shoulders and opened the front door stepping outside. The sky looks
Maya looked at the sleeping Sylvia. She had carefully covered her body with a blanket. She noticed over time the other woman seemed to look better but has develop a cold that she can’t seem to shake. She grabbed the jacket she found in the closet. Very carefully she slipped out the front door but quickly stop in her steps. She noticed the car parked across the road. A man was quickly climbing out. She steps back into the house but the man still comes closer. He wore a confused expression on his face. Looking intently, he appeared to be familiar.“Don’t close the door,” the man said sharply.Maya stood still her hand holding the door waiting as he approached. Once the man stood in front of her he suddenly seemed to relaxed. “What are you doing in my house?” He asked surprise.Maya looked inside but noticed Sylvia was still sound asleep. She faced the man again. She frowns as he clearly seemed relaxed and this puzzles her.“Who are you?” she asked carefully.“Johnny Burns,” he said comi
William, Billy and Gia Asher stood in front of the huge black gates looking at the massive mansion. It was quite a mission getting away from the Cemetery.Gia moved forward and rings the bell. The guards immediately made an appearance. One-man step forward. There was nothing friendly about them, just severe looking with apparent danger edge onto their expressions.“State your business?”“Thomas Roman or Maya Asher please.” Gia said forthright. The man looked at her for a long time. When it was clear she won’t flinch, he reaches for cell phone. A brief conversation before the gates opened. They were escort to the front door. The butler opens the door. He steps forward reaching for Gia.“Welcome ma’am.”The men followed Gia inside.“Where is my daughter?” Gia found herself in a lavish living room.“Please wait here. I will call the Master.” The man was gone closing the door behind him.“I don’t like this,” William observed.“Why?” Gia looked at her father-in-law.“I am not sure, but som
“Maya, where are you?”The guard unlock the cell. The place stinks. He hates always being the one sends to get the girl. She always stays hidden forcing him to went deeper in search of her. Taking a deep breath, he left the door slightly ajar.Maya watching him from the dimness of the cell. Her eyes have adjusted to the lightning making it possible for her to time him once he shuffled past her. The frail woman with her holds tightly onto her wrists. She can feel the fear making her body shakes. The guard bend to check some of the other women. Taking this moment, she grips Sylvia tightly carefully reaching the door.“Hey, wait.” The guard aware that the door was pushed wider turning just in time to see it being pushed shut. Maya turned the key. “Open this door,” he yelled. “No, get away,” he yelled again.“Sylvia…”“I am here,” she whispers trying to focus on the light.Maya looked down the corridor. She can’t remember how long she was here. Her mind very fuzzy. The focus point finds a
“Gia, where are you?” Billy Asher quickly unlock his apartment door. He briefly looked behind himself but noticed no one. He just knew its only a question of time before they track him down.“Where are you?’ he asked harshly locking the door behind him. He found his heavily pregnant wife slowly getting of the bed. “Why aren’t you ready?” he yelled in a control voice.“What’s going on Billy?” she reached for the half full glass of water. Once she finished drinking, she slowly struggles onto her feet. She makes her way to the small bathroom.“How do you feel?” Billy asked but clearly was anxious.“I feel like crab. What’s going on?”“We have to move.” He said hastily moving to start packing.“What did you do? I can’t go running around Billy. My date is very near.” Gia glared at him. Watching him move about the apartment, the thought occur to her again, she doesn’t regret loving him but to have married him was a big mistake. At first, he had a descent job which he lost when the schemes s
Thomas stepped through the portal. He found himself in the Cemetery in the year 2000. He wipes the fresh blood from his lips. He slowly looked around. Everything was eerily still almost like nature was waiting for something to happened.“Stop,” he heard the voice behind him. Turning to see who it was. He noticed the man in the appearance of a priest. After just looking at him he realized there was nothing holy about him.“Who are you?” he asked casually.“I am the Pastor.” He steps closer searching for something with the depths of the clothes he wore.“Why did you stop me?” Thomas moved so fast the Pastor barely managed to follow him. He already discovered what was hidden within the clothes. When the darkly dressed man blinked his eyes, he noticed the creature still seem to stand in the same spot.“You did something…what was it?” he asked suspiciously.“I don’t have time for your nonsense.” Thomas moved so fast he was gone before the Pastor even realized. Rushing past the cottage that
Gia-Mia anxiously waits for her sister. It has been days since she last saw her. She can sense something was wrong but not sure what. She kept circling the bedroom they shared. About to go and question some of the other servants the door suddenly opened. She immediately stood motionless just waiting to see who would come through the door. The creepy butler and the driver both dragged Amelia inside dropping her down on the bed. Both men sense her but can’t see her. They both looked at the unconscious woman through whose clothes blood were seeping.“We can’t just leave her like this?” the driver seemed uneasy. The butler simply shrugged his shoulders. He turned to leave. The other man kneels looking for a pulse. He stood looking around the bedroom. “Is someone there?” he asked softly.“What happened?” Gia-Mia whispered in his ear.“Where are you?” The driver instantly alert searching but there was no one. He felt the whisper close to his ear again.“The Mistress punished her. She was of
Thomas was raking the leaves in the back of the villa’s gardens. He had been here just over a week but since the warning from Amelia he didn’t see her again. There appear to be no sign of the Mistress too. The driver just told him to keep the grounds in the back neat.He stops a moment reaching for the water. While he was drinking, he suddenly heard the noise of giggling. He stops drinking looking for the reason for the sound. He finally noticed them. A couple of servant girls looking at him from between rose bushes.“Hello,” he said carefully. The girls laughed and disappeared again. He shrugged his shoulders before going back to work. After a moment he heard the giggling again. He stops looking up when he now noticed two has turned into four girls. He suddenly smiled making the girls disappeared again. He quickly realized it was a kind of game for them.“Don’t get them in trouble,” another speaks from somewhere else. He looked around but see no one.“Where are you?” he asked softly.
