Henry’s POV By the time Henry got to the forest and spotted Erin, it was too late. Gavin was already there. There was a jealous feeling in the pit of Henry’s stomach as he watched Gavin kneeling over Erin’s unconscious body. It was obvious from where Henry was standing that she was stabbed with a silver dagger. She wouldn’t have much longer to live unless Gavin was able to heal her. Gavin was incredibly powerful from what Henry knew about him so there was no telling what kind of powers he really had. Henry wasn’t surprised when he saw the glowing of Gavin’s hands as he pressed the palms into Erin’s chest. He watched in amazement, and from afar, as Erin’s wound began to heal, and a large wound appeared on Gavin’s chest. He was transferring the damage done to Erin to himself. Could Gavin die because of this? Erin’s breathing grew stronger, and she made a soft moaning sound through her parted lips. Gavin gently placed her back on the ground before he fell to the ground himself an
Erin’s POV “Gavin, you can’t be serious,” I said, staring up at him with wide and shocked eyes. His face was very serious looking, and his eyes remained dark as he poured his gaze into mine. “I have never been more serious in my life,” he said in a firm tone. “I wish for you to marry me and be my Luna, Erin. I’m done playing these games. We love each other and we should be together.” “It’s not that simple,” I told him, shaking my head. Of course, I had always dreamt of marrying him. He’s my mate and I love him so much. But I couldn’t risk him finding out about the Moonshadow organization and even still, I couldn’t risk him being in any danger because of me. I’ve already lost so many people in my life… I couldn’t lose Gavin too. The very thought hurt my heart. “It is that simple,” he said, raising his brows. “Erin—” “I can’t marry you,” I said quickly, meeting his eyes once again. I could see the pure disappointment on his face, and I felt bad, but he had to have known that I
Erin’s POV I can’t remember the last time Theo was in our realm. He’s spent so much time in the Moonshadow realm that he created. I should have known the moment I felt that strange sensation upon entering my home that something was wrong. Theo had come through his portal and was sitting on my bed. He looked at me with such fury that it brought a chill to my spine. I didn’t like it when Theo was mad; whenever he was mad, bad things happened. I deliberately went against his wishes and because of that, there was going to be hell to pay. Henry stayed by my side though; he had a hold on my hand, and I knew he wasn’t planning on letting me go, despite the wrath of Theo. Theo was quiet for a long moment like Henry, and I stared at him from the doorway. He kept his eyes locked on mine; they were dark and deadly. I wondered what he was thinking at that moment. I wondered if I even wanted to know. Even Emily was growing nervous about Theo’s presence. I watched in my mind’s eye as she
Erin’s POV “Where are you going?” Henry asked, following me as I reached the front door of our home. “I need to warn Gavin that Susanna is still dangerous,” I told him; my heart was racing in my chest, and I could hardly think straight. “He knows that she’s a danger,” Henry said, grabbing onto my arm. Theo was watching from the doorway of our bedroom with a timid frown on his face. He wasn’t going to try and stop me like Henry was. He knew I was going to do what I wanted regardless of what he said. “He suspects that she’s still a danger,” I said in return, snapping my eyes in his direction. “There’s a difference. He doesn’t actually know anything. But if Susanna is still a vessel, the Slayers will probably try to break her out. They are powerful Henry. I don’t want to take any chances.” “What do you expect Gavin to do about it?” Henry asked, narrowing his eyes at me. He was adamant
Gavin’s POV “Were you ever going to tell me that Erin is back in your life?” Tyler asked, following Gavin to his office across the packhouse. “There’s nothing to tell, she’s married,” Gavin muttered. He knew that her marriage wasn’t real, but he wasn’t sure what else to say to Tyler. It was clear that Erin had made her decision and her decision was not Gavin. As much as that hurt him to realize, he had something much bigger to worry about. He stared down at the picture that Tyler had presented to him. Somebody from the Slayer organization had given it to him to give to Gavin. They were cowardly and didn’t want to face Gavin themselves, so they sent the only person that Gavin truly trusted to do it for them. “I have to be honest,” Tyler said, sitting across from Gavin’s desk in a chair. “I was surprised when I saw a vampire standing at my door. My first instinct was to fight. But he didn’t
Erin’s POV My heart was racing, and my body was growing warm to the point where I knew my face was probably cherry red. There was broken glass lingering on the ground around me. I watched as some blood from the palm of my hand began to pool together and mix in with the broken glass. I stared at the cut on my hand with a frown and watched as my wolf healed it right away. Soon, it was like there was never a cut there. I carefully stood to my feet, trying to not get cut again, and stepped away from the broken dishes. I stared up at the woman who had tripped me and tried to not snarl at her. Her icy blue eyes poured into me as she laughed. “Oops,” she sneered. “My apologies.” She began to walk away and toward the front of the restaurant. I clenched my fists together; it was taking everything I had not to lose control and retaliate. But I had to keep calm and stay in character.
Gavin’s POV “We are in the process of relocating your parents as we speak, Alpha. Do you want us to send you, their location?” One of the gammas asked in a mindlink. “No,” Gavin answered, and it pained him to do so. “It would be better if I didn’t know where they were. The least I know, the better.” “Are you sure? They have been requesting to speak with you.” “Tell them it’s for their own protection,” Gavin ordered. “Yes, Alpha,” the gamma said before ending the mindlink. Gavin sat at his desk, rubbing his temples with his pointer finger and thumb. The picture that was sent to him remained on his desk. Now the Slayers were after his family, and he had no idea what he was going to do to stop them. It would have been nearly impossible to stop them if the vessels couldn’t be detected and stopped. He had already tried to stop two of the vessels and that didn’t work. Speaking of
Erin’s POV With a sore heart, I hung up the phone. I leaned against my car, staring down at the screen. It certainly wasn’t the wrong number; a woman answered his phone. But who? And why was she allowed to answer his phone so easily? Was he not concerned that it could have been me that was calling him? I hated this feeling; a jealous pit formed in my lower abdomen, and I wanted to get rid of it. I shoved my phone into my pocket and slid into my car. My body was trembling from the frigid air. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but I certainly wasn’t expecting a woman to be answering his phone. There was a part of me that thought about calling him back and asking him who that woman was. But another part of me worried that she would just answer his phone again. It also wasn’t my business and I recognized that. I bit onto my bottom lip to keep the tears from spilling out of my eyes.
Erin’s POVI often ask myself, if I could go back in time, what’s the one thing I would change? When I was a teenager, I would have said not kissing Gavin as nearly as much as I wanted to. I wanted him to know just how much I loved him and how badly my heart ached for him when I wasn’t there with him.Even before I had got my wolf, I knew Gavin was my mate. He has always been the kind of boy you could never forget.I loved him deeply and I would forever love him until my last breath. When I broke up with him, it was like my entire world had fallen apart. But my father gave me an ultimatum that I couldn’t ignore. If I didn’t break up with him, Gavin would never be able to attend that incredible college he’s been wanting to go to. I couldn’t be the reason that Gavin’s dream didn’t happen. I never wanted to stand in his way.I did the only thing
Gavin’s POVGavin stood at the end of the aisle, which was located in the gardens of Gavin’s pack. The gardens were one of the most beautiful landmarks in the werewolf territory and Erin requested the wedding be held there considering it was just outside the chapel.Gavin didn’t care where they got married, as long as Erin was with him.Jill walked down the aisle with Beta Seth followed by a couple more bridesmaids and groomsmen from the pack.Soon, it would be Kelsey and Tyler, the best man and maid of honor. Then, it would be Erin. His Erin. The thought filled him with so much joy; Roman could hardly wait to see his mate after days of barely seeing her.The music was playing loudly and the doors to the chapel remained closed.Kelsey and Tyler were supposed to walk through the doors by now. What was keeping them?Gavin envisioned his best man being drunk and Kelsey trying to sober
Gavin’s POV“Are you out of your mind?!” Gavin asked as soon as they were back in the packhouse and away from the ears of Theo. “Why would you tell him I’ll join the organization?”“Did you not want to?” Erin asked, raising her brows. “I saw the look in your eyes. I knew you wanted to.”“That doesn’t matter. What about our pup?”“What about our pup?” Erin counter-asked, folding her arms across her chest. “Our pup will be just fine. It’s not like we are going to be absent parents. I’ve been part of the organization this whole time and you’ve never noticed.”“But I didn’t know you were on dangerous missions. If anything happens to us—”“Nothing is going to happen to us. Theo will make sure of that,” she assured him, but he didn’t feel very reassured.“But if something does happen to us… our pup would be an orphan,” he said, meeting her eyes.“Then, let’s make sure nothing happens to us,” she said, taking him b
Gavin’s POVGavin spent the last few days working tiredly in the nursery. He’s been wanting to surprise Erin with this for a long time and he was excited to reveal it to her.Erin spent the next few evenings giving the nursery her own final touches. But one afternoon, she tiredly came into his office, peering over at him with a timid frown on her face.“Have you been sleeping?” He asked, narrowing his eyes at her paling face.“A little at a time,” she admitted. “The pup is very active and makes sleeping difficult.”“I’ll call the doctor and see if he can prescribe you anything,” he said, about to pick up the phone.“I’d rather not take medication. Maybe if he knows of a natural solution or remedies,” I said.“I’ll ask him,” he assured me.“Can it wait until later, though?” I asked. “My boss, Theo from the organization wants to speak with you.”Gavin heard stories about the leader of the org
Erin’s POV5 months later.I sat at the bakery, staring at the many pieces of cake that sat before me on incredibly fancy dining ware.“I think all the cake is delicious,” Jill, who sat beside me, said with a mouthful of cake.“Yes, but I need to find the best one,” I said in return.“I really love red velvet,” Kelsey said from the other side of Jill as she took a big spoonful of the red velvet cake.“I never get to eat like this. I’m always worried about my figure. Let me have my moment,” Jill pleased. “Besides, I spent the last few months hiding in a safe house.”After months of searching for Jessie to no prevail, we decided to move on with our lives. Which meant bringing Gavin’s family home.“In just a few days, I’m going to be walking down the aisle to marry my mate,” I breathed, a large smile spreading across my face. “Everything has to be perfect.”“Oh, don’t forget, you have lunch with my mother th
Gavin’s POVOut of all the things for Erin to blurt out at that moment, Gavin certainly was not expecting that one.Her face was as red as cherry as soon as those words left her mouth. She couldn’t believe she blurted it out like that either.“You’re pregnant?” Gavin managed to ask after what felt like an eternity of silence.Tears filled her eyes, and he could see the shame that lurked behind her gaze. She was truly struggling with this, and Gavin didn’t understand why.Unless the baby wasn’t ours.“Oh… it’s ours,” Roman said, sniffing the air. “She’s having our pups!”“You knew about this?” Gavin growled at his wolf. “And you didn’t think to tell me?”“Our mate was right, with everything going on, it never seemed like the right time. Besides, I only now just picked up the scent. Go easy on her… I don’t want anything disrupting this baby of ours.”“Are you mad?” Erin brought Gavin out of his con
Erin’s POV“Gavin is awake,” Beta Seth said into the phone.Relief flooded through me.Thank goddess; that meant he was going to be okay, and I could finally breathe. It’s been killing me not being able to go to the hospital. But with Jessie still, out there, we were all still in so much danger.Theo doesn’t think Jessie is going to strike back this soon, especially when her reputation has been tanked as soon as her identity was revealed to the public. But that didn’t make me any less worried that she would soon return.“The first person he asked about was you,” Seth continued, pulling at my heartstrings painfully.I hated that I couldn’t be with Gavin, but finding Jessie right now was way too important.“He also doesn’t think bringing his family home is a good idea,” Seth said with uncertainty in his voice. “I thought it was mentioned that there’s no trace of Jessie or anyone left in her organization.”
Erin’s POV“…!!”“Oh, my goddess,” Emily cried from within me.I felt her heart shattering just as I saw Gavin falling to the ground.Red was oozing under my wolfed paws as his blood mixed with the water. The water was done spraying, and Gavin and I were left on the roof alone. I fell to my knees and placed my hands on Gavin’s chest. The dagger stuck out of him, and blood continued to ooze.“Gavin… no…” I whispered as tears fell from my eyes. I felt so broken at this moment; I couldn’t lose him. Not like this.“Don’t let her get away,” he said in a raspy whisper. “She’s still alive…”I knew I needed to go after her; I couldn’t let her get away after it took us so long to find her. But the image of Gavin bleeding out before my eyes was too painful. I couldn’t just walk away from him.Theo and a couple of the men from the organization burst through the doors of the rooftop and he narrowed his eyes at
Erin’s POVPregnant?!My heart thudded violently against my chest.Could I really be pregnant?I pressed the palm of my hands to my stomach and felt that warmth radiating throughout my body and giving me strength.I gasped.I knew at that moment that it was true.I had a little pup in me.I kept my hands on my stomach as I turned to face Jessie.“You wouldn’t hurt me knowing that I’m carrying a small pup,” I said to her, narrowing my eyes at her stunned expression.“You’re pregnant?!” She gasped, staring at me with wide eyes. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” In high school, when envisioned getting pregnant with Gavin’s baby much later in life, I obviously thought it would be much different than this.I never imagined in a million years that my best friend would be trying to kill me.I always thought Jessie would be the first person who knew that I was pregnant, and I gue
