Elena's Pov:

The sound of Daniel’s knock echoed through the quiet house, sharp and punctual. I rushed to the door, my heart pounding. Seeing him standing there, his usual composed expression softening when our eyes met, brought a flicker of relief.

“Elena,” he greeted, stepping inside as I held the door open. “Sorry for the delay. My flight was delayed, and—”

“It’s fine,” I interrupted, closing the door behind him. “Thank you for coming.”

Daniel glanced around the living room, his gaze lingering on the stack of unopened mail and half-packed boxes. “Are you moving?”

“No,” I said quickly. “Just… reorganizing.”

He gave me a small nod, his attention shifting back to me. “So, what’s going on? You sounded urgent on the phone.”

I hesitated, my hand instinctively brushing over my stomach. The words felt heavy in my throat, tangled with nerves and uncertainty.

“I’m pregnant,” I finally said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Daniel’s brow furrowed, and for a moment, he didn’t say anything. Then, his eyes widened slightly. “I see.”

I studied his face, trying to gauge his reaction. “I needed to tell you because… I’m not sure where we stand, and—”

A loud bang at the door interrupted me, making both of us jump.

“Elena!” Ethan’s voice rang out, deep and furious.

I froze, panic surging through me. “Oh no,” I muttered under my breath.

Daniel looked toward the door, then back at me, his confusion evident. “Who is that?”

“It’s Ethan,” I said, my voice tight.

Before I could stop him, Ethan burst through the door, his presence filling the room like a storm. His eyes immediately zeroed in on Daniel, and his expression darkened.

“What the hell is he doing here?” Ethan demanded, his voice low and dangerous.

I stepped between them, holding up a hand. “Ethan, calm down. This isn’t what you think—”

“Oh, I think I understand perfectly,” he snapped, his gaze darting to Daniel. “You’re already moving on, aren’t you? Was this your plan all along? Get rid of me so you could shack up with him?”

Daniel’s jaw tightened, but he stayed composed. “I don’t know who you are, but I suggest you lower your voice.”

“Lower my voice?” Ethan barked, his anger flaring. “You don’t get to tell me what to do. This is my child we’re talking about!”

“Ethan, stop,” I said, stepping closer to him. “This isn’t about you or Daniel. This is about me and the baby. You need to—”

“Don’t tell me to stop!” Ethan cut me off, his voice shaking with fury. He pointed at Daniel. “Is he the reason you’re so desperate to keep me out of this? Is he the father?”

That question sliced through me like a blade. I swallowed hard, feeling my stomach twist. The father? Of course, Ethan had the right to ask. But how was I supposed to answer? How could I tell him it wasn’t his when I wasn’t sure myself? What if it is? What if everything I’ve been running from is now coming back to haunt me? I couldn’t escape that thought, no matter how hard I tried.

“That’s enough!” Daniel’s voice was firm now, his calm demeanor cracking just slightly. “You don’t get to come in here and throw around accusations without knowing the facts.”

“The facts?” Ethan turned to me, his eyes blazing. “Fine. Let’s talk about facts, Elena. Fact: we were together that night. Fact: you’re pregnant. Fact: that baby is mine, and I have every right to be involved.”

I felt the pressure in my chest, suffocating me. The truth, the reality of this situation, felt so far out of my reach. I wanted to scream, to throw my hands up and say I didn’t know. But I couldn’t. Because I did. I knew. I knew everything was tangled up—Ethan, Daniel, my pregnancy. And no matter how many times I told myself it wasn’t supposed to be like this, it was. This was my reality.

“Ethan, you’re making this worse,” I whispered, but he wasn’t listening.

“No,” he said, his voice dropping to a cold, deliberate tone. “I’m making it clear. If that child is mine, I’ll do whatever it takes to be part of their life. And if you think for one second you can keep me away, you’re wrong.”

How could I keep him away? How could I tell him it’s not his child when I couldn’t even tell myself the truth? I shook my head, the thoughts swirling. This is my fault. I put myself in this position. I should’ve known better.

Daniel took a step forward, positioning himself slightly in front of me. “Ethan, you need to leave. Now. This isn’t the time or place for this.”

Ethan let out a bitter laugh. “Oh, I bet you’d love that, wouldn’t you? Get rid of me so you can play house with Elena and my kid.”

Daniel’s hands curled into fists at his sides, but he didn’t respond, his restraint evident.

“Stop it, both of you!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “This is not about you two fighting over who gets to control my life!”

Ethan turned back to me, his expression shifting from anger to something colder, more calculating. “If you’re so sure this baby isn’t mine, then prove it. Take a paternity test.”

The air seemed to leave my lungs at that. A paternity test. I couldn’t even look at him, couldn’t bring myself to process what he was asking. Could it be his? I didn’t want to admit it. I couldn’t. But I wasn’t sure anymore.

“I… I can’t just—” I began, but the words wouldn’t come out. The weight of everything pressed down on me, and I felt dizzy.

His lips curled into a bitter smile. “You’ll prove it, Elena. Or I’ll make sure you lose everything.”

The weight of his words hung heavy in the room, and for a moment, no one spoke. Then Ethan turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

I stood frozen, my heart pounding, tears streaming down my face.

“Elena,” Daniel said softly, his voice filled with concern.

I shook my head, unable to speak. The storm Ethan had brought with him wasn’t over—it was just beginning.

Ethan's POVI sat behind my desk, my eyes fixed on the papers in front of me, but my mind was elsewhere. I couldn't help but think about the possibility of being a father. Oh, how would it feel to have a child of my own? I had always been driven by my career, my wealth, and my status, but being a father was a whole different level of responsibility, of love, and of legacy.I found myself praying that I was the father of Elena's child. The thought of it sent a surge of excitement through me, mixed with a hint of fear. What if I wasn't ready for this? What if I wasn't good enough? But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted this. I wanted to be a father. I wanted to experience the joy and the challenges that came with it.My mind began to wander to the past, to the decisions I had made, to the mistakes I had committed. Did I think divorcing Elena was a mistake? I didn't know. All I knew was that I had done what I thought was best at the time. But now, with the pos

"Let's just get to the point, shall we?" She whispered in my ear, her breath sending shivers down my spine. "Your wife had a one-night stand with a stranger."I felt a surge of anger, but I kept my cool. "I know," I said, my voice tight.Victoria pulled back, a sly smile spreading across her face. "And there's a 100% possibility that stranger isn't you." I snorted, my expression incredulous. "That's quite a conclusion to jump to, don't you think?" I said, my tone dripping with sarcasm.Victoria shrugged, her smile never wavering. "Maybe. But there's also a 100% possibility that child isn't yours." I felt a pang of doubt, but I pushed it aside. Ethan's POV I sat there, my eyes fixed on Victoria's face as she continued to rant about Elena. Her words were like a never-ending stream, each one a tiny dagger aimed straight at my ex-wife's heart. I was tired of listening to her, tired of the venom and the malice that spewed from her lips like poison."Elena is a manipulator, Ethan," Victoria said, her voice rising in indignation. "She's been playing you from the very beginning. She doesn't care about anyone but herself. Look at her now, pregnant and alone, and she doesn't even know who the father is." Victoria's eyes flashed with anger, her face twisted in a scowl.I felt a surge of doubt, my mind racing with questions. Was Elena really as loyal as I thought she was? Had she been honest with me about her past, about her feelings? I thought back to our marriage, to the fights and the arguments, to the times when Elena had hurt me with her words and her actions. • One Night, Two Dads    Chapter 117: Love, Resilience and Strength

Elena's POV Four years had passed, and life had unfolded in ways I never could have imagined.Daniel and I are married now. It wasn’t a grand, extravagant event — just a small ceremony with close friends and family. But it had been perfect. I still remembered the way Daniel’s eyes locked on mine as I walked down the aisle, the way his fingers trembled slightly when he slid the ring onto my finger. The way his whispered “I love you” had calmed my nerves in an instant. Our wedding may have been simple, but our love? That was anything but.Chase was four years old now — bright-eyed, full of questions, and sweet in ways that melted my heart. He had Daniel’s calm nature — steady and thoughtful — but with just enough of my stubbornness to keep things interesting.“Mom!” Chase’s little voice rang out from the living room. “Can you tie my shoe?”“Coming!” I called back, setting my coffee mug down. When I stepped into the room, I couldn’t help but smile. Chase sat cross-legged on the carpet,

Elena's POV The warmth of morning sunlight kissed my face, stirring me awake. My lashes fluttered as I blinked a few times, adjusting to the light streaming through the curtains. Something felt... different. The room smelled faintly of lavender, and the air carried a sense of calm — unusual for my chaotic life these days.I sat up slowly, my gaze sweeping across the room. My eyes widened.Everything was spotless — no, perfect. The clothes I’d left scattered on the chair were neatly folded. The empty glasses on the nightstand were gone. Even the floor looked freshly mopped, shining faintly in the morning glow. A bouquet of fresh roses sat on the dresser, their vibrant red petals bright against the white vase.Daniel.I smiled to myself. He was always doing things like this — quietly stepping in to make my life easier without asking for credit. My heart warmed at the thought.I turned to check on Chase. He was curled up on his side, snuggled beneath the covers, his little face relaxed

  • One Night, Two Dads    Chapter 115: In our feelings

Elena's POV I spent most of the day convincing myself that I was ready — that talking to Daniel wouldn’t be as terrifying as I’d built it up to be. Mia’s words kept replaying in my head.“Don’t let fear stop you from something that could actually make you feel whole again.”By evening, I was still nervous, but I knew I couldn’t keep running from this. It was time. The next morning, I got up early to prepare Chase’s bag — diapers, wipes, his favorite stuffed elephant — the usual things I carried when we went out. He was getting so big now, already crawling everywhere, babbling non-stop. Each day, he felt more and more like a little person, and I knew Daniel had played a huge part in that. After dressing Chase in his soft blue onesie, I scooped him into my arms.“Alright, little man,” I whispered, “let’s go see Daniel.”---Daniel greeted me with his usual warm smile when I arrived. He stood in the doorway, his hair still damp from a shower, dressed in a fitted black t-shirt and jeans.

Elena's POV I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to shake Daniel’s words from my mind.“I’m here... not just as a friend, but as someone who cares about you.”I closed my eyes, replaying that moment over and over again. The warmth in his voice, the softness in his gaze — it all lingered in my thoughts, making my chest feel tight. The truth was, I’d been denying it for weeks. The way my heart raced whenever he smiled, the way I caught myself thinking about him even when he wasn’t around. I told myself it was nothing — that it was just comfort, or maybe gratitude. But it wasn’t.I knew it.I rolled onto my side, clutching the pillow close to my chest. Daniel had been denying it too — pushing his feelings aside, holding back when it was so clear he wanted more. I could see it in his eyes when we talked, feel it in those quiet moments when his hand lingered just a second too long.He wanted me.And the truth was... I wanted him too.But I didn’t know how to say it. After so much

Elena's POVI lay on my bed, the soft hum of the ceiling fan above me creating a calming rhythm. My body felt heavy, not with exhaustion but with a strange sense of peace. For the first time in a long while, life felt... manageable. Maybe even a little happy.Chase’s giggles still echoed in my head — that sweet, bubbly laugh that made my heart melt every single time. He was growing so fast. Just yesterday, he was this tiny bundle in my arms, barely able to hold up his head. Now, he was crawling around the house like he owned the place, babbling "goo goo ga ga" as if he had so much to say but just couldn’t find the words yet.I smiled to myself, turning onto my side to stare at the empty spot beside me on the bed.Daniel had been coming around more often lately — always showing up with a warm smile, always willing to lend a hand. What started as simple work discussions had shifted into something... more. Something I couldn’t quite put my finger on.I remembered the way he looked at me

Elena's POVAs the evening at the Pizza Club in McPherson, Kansas, drew to a close, the warmth of the celebration lingered in the air. Laughter and the aroma of freshly baked pizza had filled the room, creating memories we would cherish. Daniel, ever the gentleman, offered to escort me outside while the others settled the bill.Stepping out into the night, a brisk March breeze greeted us, sending a shiver down my spine. Noticing my discomfort, Daniel immediately shrugged off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders."Here, take this," he said, his voice filled with concern. "Can't have you catching a cold now."I looked up at him, gratitude warming me more than the jacket ever could. "Thank you, Daniel. You're always so thoughtful."We began to stroll along the quiet street, the soft glow of streetlights casting elongated shadows on the pavement. The town had a serene quality at night, with only the distant hum of traffic disrupting the silence."So, how have you been?" I asked, gla

Elena's POV I sat on the couch, scrolling mindlessly through my phone when Mia burst into the room, her face glowing like the morning sun."Elena!" she practically screamed.I barely had time to react before she flopped down beside me, hugging a throw pillow tightly against her chest."What's gotten into you?" I laughed, setting my phone aside."Guess what!" she grinned, her excitement practically bouncing off the walls."What?" I asked, leaning in eagerly."James proposed to me yesterday!" she squealed, flashing her hand in front of me. The silver ring caught the light perfectly, sparkling like something out of a fairy tale.My eyes widened, and in the next second, we were both on our feet, screaming and jumping like a pair of schoolgirls."Are you serious?!" Elena's POV Rumor had it that Ethan was in New York. Apparently, he'd been staying lowkey since the whole scandal started, but Daniel somehow managed to track down where he was staying.“We should go talk to him,” Daniel said as we sat in his apartment, reviewing the evidence again.I raised an eyebrow. “Confront him? Just like that?”Daniel leaned back in his chair, his fingers drumming on the table. “If he’s in New York, this is the perfect chance to clear things up. He needs to know the truth — and fast.”I exhaled slowly, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. “Yeah... you're right. Let's do it.”A couple of hours later, we were standing outside a sleek hotel in Manhattan. My heart hammered in my chest as we walked inside. Ethan wasn’t exactly the most predictable person — especially now. I wasn’t sure how he’d react to what we were about to tell him.“Are you sure he’s here?” I asked, clutching my bag tightly.Daniel nodded. “I called ahead. He's in his room.”The elevator ride

Elena's POVDaniel was working tirelessly — even I could see it. The dark circles beneath his eyes were impossible to miss, and his sharp features seemed a little sunken. He looked exhausted — like he’d been running on fumes for days. All this... just to help me.I didn’t know whether to feel touched or guilty. Maybe both. That evening, I decided to stop by his apartment. Mia had mentioned earlier that she and Mr. Johnson were going out tonight, which meant Chase was with Jade. That gave me some free time — and a perfect reason to check on Daniel.I knocked softly on his door, half-hoping he’d already fallen asleep so I could just leave and convince myself he was taking care of himself.“Come in,” his tired voice called out.I stepped inside and felt my heart twist. He was sitting at his desk, surrounded by papers, files, and — oh my God — three empty coffee mugs. His laptop screen glowed faintly, bathing his face in pale blue light.“Hey,” I said softly, trying to sound casual.“Oh,
