A knock on the door.

“Ma’am, it has been arranged.” Patricia said.

“I hope Edward is already asleep.” Margaret asked.

Patricia nodded.

“Good, Kian would come home for dinner and then you put something in his food,” Magaret said.

“The woman in charge of the meals didn’t let me do anything.” Patricia said.

“I will cook the food personally for him tonight, I will cook him his favorite food.” Margaret said her voice barely above a whisper.

Patricia nodded and turned to leave but Margaret’s voice stopped her.

“Patricia.” Magaret called.

“Yes, ma’am.” She answered.

Margaret took a deep breath. “How did you know about Emma’s allergy, Patricia?”

Patricia hesitated. “I’ve known her since childhood.”

Margaret’s eyes narrowed. “I need you to explain in details.”

Patricia exhaled slowly, as if debating whether to speak. Then, she straightened. “Emma and I grew up together. We were childhood friends.”

Sylvia scoffed. “That’s impossible.”

Patricia ignored her. “She was born in the Wilson mansion.”

EMMA“No, our plans didn’t fail.” Patricia said as she walked in.“How?” Patricia asked.“While Kian rushed out, the head maid handed her a bottle of water to calm her nerves and the water was already drugged by me.” Patricia said.Sylvia smiled, she looked so happy. “Now, all you have to do ma’am is to bring him in because he is on the couch now and soon enough it will start taking effect and Sylvia needs to act fast by then.” Patricia said.Magaret nodded and then walked outside, slamming the door behind her. Patricia also followed her.She watched from the balcony as Kian sat on the couch in the dimly lit lounge, one hand pressing against his temple. The drug was taking effect. His movements were sluggish, his breathing uneven. He didn’t even realize what was happening.A slow smirk crept onto her face.“Now,” Patricia whispered beside her. “Bring him in.”Sylvia was already fixing her robe, anticipation lighting up her features. She looked like a predator waiting for the perfect

EMMAKian pulled up in front of Sienna’s house and didn’t say a word.I opened the door without hesitation, stepping out without looking back. The second I shut it behind me, he drove off. No pause. No hesitation.Good.I walked inside, my body feeling heavier with each step. The scent of something warm and savory filled the air. Sienna stood by the kitchen counter, stirring a pot. She looked up when I entered, her sharp eyes scanning my face.“So, you finally made up your mind?” she asked, setting the spoon down.I nodded, dropping my bag on the couch. “We’ll only be happy if we aren’t together.” My voice was flat. Emotionless.Sienna scoffed. “Yeah? You think lying to yourself is gonna make it hurt less?”I ignored her, pulling out my phone. I had several missed calls from Grandfather Edward. My stomach tightened.Sienna saw my face. “Who is it?”“Grandfather.”She sighed. “You gonna call him back?”I didn’t answer. Instead, I grabbed my car keys and walked out.—The drive back to

EMMA“She—she told me I was nothing,” Sylvia whispered, voice trembling. “That Kian would never love me. That I was just a desperate woman chasing after a man who would always belong to her.”“I said that?” I asked, my eyes filled with regret.“Yes you did.” She shot back at me. “You said hurtful words to Aunt, to me, you even said some lustful words to grandfather.” My stomach twisted. That wasn’t true. But the way she spoke, the way her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, I knew she had done this before—played the victim so well, so convincingly, that it was impossible to tell the truth from lies.I turned to Mrs. Kim, my only hope. Her lips parted. Then closed. Her fingers clenched around the cloth she was holding. Her eyes darted between me and Sylvia. And then—slowly, hesitantly—she lowered her gaze.“I… I didn’t hear everything,” she murmured.A cold weight settled in my chest.Sylvia let out a soft, broken sob. “Obviously Mrs.Kim wouldn’t because she is scared of Emma, I don't k

She needed to make sure he ate well, that he started seeing her as a wife—his wife. When the food was ready, she carefully arranged the dishes on a tray and carried them to the dining room. The table was set, and she took a deep breath before heading upstairs.“Kian,” she called softly, knocking on his bedroom door.No answer. She pushed the door open and found him sitting on the edge of the bed, already dressed for work. His expression was blank, but his sharp gaze flickered toward her.“I made breakfast,” she said, forcing a smile. “Come down and eat.”He stood without a word, adjusting his cuffs. Then—“I’m not eating.”She clenched my fists, swallowing her frustration. “Kian, I woke up very early to make you something, you need to eat it before going to work—”And then a car horn sounded outside.Mark.Kian didn’t even glan

Sylvia, beside her, wore a smirk that sent a chill down my spine. Kian was unreadable, his fingers tapping lightly against the table, his gaze distant.Mrs. Hailey, however, remained composed. She leaned back in her chair and gave me a small nod.“You did a great job today, Emma,” she said. “I’m glad you’re in this company and I am sure with you here we will achieve a lot.”I opened my mouth to thank her, but Sylvia cut in.“That compliment should be given to me, Hailey and not her. Since when do you bring business partners home?”“Nora,” Hailey warned, her voice edged with authority. But Nora wasn’t done. Sienna tilted her head slightly, watching Margaret with sharp eyes. “Mrs. Margaret, I’ll do a great job. Just don’t forget my pay.”Margaret smirked, adjusting the pearl necklace around her neck. “Of course, dear. Do what needs to be done, and you’ll be rewarded handsomely.”Without another word, Margaret turned and walked away, her heels clicking against the cold marble floors. Sienna let out a slow breath and followed behind at a distance, her mind racing. When Margaret reached the Wilson mansion, the house was eerily quiet. Only a few maids roamed around, barely paying attention to her. She paused at the hallway, peering into Grandfather Edward’s study. The door was slightly open.Margaret’s brows furrowed as she heard voices. Slowly, she stepped closer, listening carefully.“You won’t tell her?” Grandfather Edward’s voice was firm, yet burdened. The second voice was softer but held equal weight. “I owe her a lot, Edward. “Where is Sienna now?” The voice on the phone was sharp, commanding.Sienna glanced toward me before stepping outside, lowering her voice. “She remembered everything, ma’am.”A pause. Then, the voice spoke again, slower this time. “You need to keep Lucas away from her. Do you understand?”Before Sienna could respond, my voice cut through the silence from behind her. “Are you not coming? We’re leaving already.”She turned abruptly, finding me standing in the doorway, watching her.Her expression shifted instantly. “I’ll be in the car right now.” She hung up and walked past me, her usual confidence forced.Lucas drove us home in tense silence. My mind was still spinning. My mother didn’t just die—she was murdered. And Sylvia… she knew. The second we reached the mansion, I stepped out, my body still trembling with the weight of my memories. EMMAKian was still gripping the phone when he pulled into a parking lot. I barely registered where we were until I glanced up and saw the dimly lit sign of a coffee shop. The air inside the car was suffocating, thick with words neither of us dared to say.“Kian,” Sylvia’s voice rang through the speaker again. “Did you hear what I said?”Kian’s hand tightened around the wheel, his knuckles turning white. His lips parted, but no words came out.“I’m pregnant,” Sylvia repeated, her tone sickeningly sweet.I turned my face away, staring blankly at the glass window. Pregnant. The word echoed in my head, slashing through me like a dull, rusted knife. It was supposed to be me.I swallowed hard, forcing my expression into something unreadable. If I let my emotions show, I would break.“Kian?” Sylvia’s voice was sharper now, impatient.“I heard you.” His tone was emotionless.“Oh,” she said, giggling. “I was hoping for a little more excitement. After all, this is our baby we’re talking about.

Mark stood a few feet behind me, watching, silent.“Where were you?” Kian asked, his voice deceptively calm.I took a step closer, my arms crossing. “I should be asking you. Why are you here?”“I just came by.” His voice was soft, but something about the way he said it sent a shiver through me.I narrowed my eyes. “Did you follow us?”Kian didn’t answer immediately. His fingers flexed at his sides, jaw tightening. “I had a feeling you’d be here.”A feeling? That wasn’t an answer.I scoffed, shaking my head. “Kian, you have no right to—”“Get in the car, Emma.” His voice was low, firm.I blinked, caught off guard by the sudden command. “Excuse me?”He took another step, closing the distance between us. His cologne—something rich and expensive—wrapped around me, suffocating, intoxicating. “Let’s go.”I tilted my head, my tone sharp. “And why would I do that?”Kian’s eyes flickered with
