Rain’s POV.
Looking into Professor Logan’s eyes, my breath stalls in my lungs at the way he's peering at me like he's looking into my soul.
I don’t know why I feel like he followed me here deliberately. Is that even possible?
Gosh, my mind is a mess right now as I’m standing right in front of him, lost for words.
I wasn’t aware the rector was calling me only for me to tour professor Logan around the school.
How convenient? Being with the man I’m forcing myself to stay away from?
Then the man chuckles, the baritone so deep it coats my skin with tingles. I get lost in his mesmerizing eyes.
He shoulder passes me, putting some distance between us.
“Lead the way, Rain Hanks.” Is what he says, cocking a brow at me. He knows what that look he's giving me does to me that’s why he keeps glowering at me that way.
Embarrassment mottled my cheeks red when he says. “I simply don’t prioritize stalking my students, Rain Hanks. So, I advise you to get past that thought.”
He adds a gear in his stride, walking down the empty hallway of the rector’s building.
When we step back out under the sun, I take in the crowded ground filled with students who are chattering in groups.
Literally, all the students there pin their eyes on the man, fawning over him. He's so handsome that everyone, including boys couldn’t stop looking at him.
The girls who stare at me do so out of jealousy. I bet they must be cursing me in their heads now.
I’m under tension as we meander through the school. The fact that he has kept silent troubled me. I wanted him to talk.
To say something about what happened last night...
“Listen, Rain Hanks!” At the sound of my name on his lips, I pause and gear my head towards him. The professor breathes then. “About what happened last night? No one should ever know.”
My God, he just said this like he was in my head.
He continues walking and I fall into step beside him. “Why should I?”
“Because that was wrong! Listen…” He turns, towering over me. My whole body jiggle as his frame casts me under shadow. His mesmerizing eyes burn into mine and with a grit of his teeth, he lets out. “You are my student, Rain. So what happened last night will definitely stay that way…”
I blink rapidly, staring at him with furrowed brows. It hurts to know he only rates me as his student.
Even though he’s right something inside me is telling me being with him is the best thing that’ll ever happen to me.
I open my mouth to speak when another voice comes right in.
“Professor Logan!”
The both of us whirl our heads and there stands Nadia in her cheerleading uniform. She looks like she has just finished practice.
“I heard you’re touring the school premises.”
“Yes. Remind me again what your name is?” Logan asks, blinking at Nadia.
When Nadia steps forward, shooting out her hand to shake him my heart clenches. Then their palms lock.
“I’m Nadia Hanks. The school head girl and mayor Hanks first daughter.” Earning a smile from Logan, she turns to me, saying cockily. “You should go. I’ll take it from here."
Her words are firm and authoritative. Knowing her position as the head girl, I nod lightly and turn to leave but what happened next surprised me.
Professor Logan clasps my arm, putting a stop to my movement.
Eyes bulging, I cast a look at Nadia and see she’s looking surprisingly at me and the professor.
“I’m afraid, Nadia. But she stays.”
“But professor I’m the head girl…”
“No, buts, head girl.” He breathes, dusting off the invisible crease in his shirt as he looks briefly at me. “Rain has been assigned to do this. So, I’d rather she tour me around the school.”
My insides bloom with excitement while Nadia’s face is the color of a bad sunburn.
She shoots a wan smile at the professor and nods stiffly before leaving.
I exhale hugely once she’s out of sight. However, I can’t stop thinking why the professor chose me over her.
Regardless of the fact that the rector assigned me to tour him around, Nadia still has the right to dismiss me and take over.
Aside from that, she’s way hotter than I am. My beauty sure doesn’t hold a candle to hers.
So, why me?
“Shall we?” His deep voice interrupts me and I snap out of my thoughts, following him.
“This place leads to the school theater.” I point to a narrow path that leads to the theater.
Professor Logan nods but his eyes are looking straight ahead. Curious, I follow his line of sight.
That’s the woods. It practically has a pathway that can lead someone out of the school.
“Uh…sorry, Professor Logan, we shouldn’t tread that ground.” I stutter, swallowing as I look at him.
He peers down at me and cock a brow. “And why is that?” He asks, still throwing a look that way.
“I don’t know. It’s just…no student has ever crossed that part.”
“You wouldn’t like to explore it?” He smirks at me and I find myself turning into a pool of liquid.
Still contemplating, his next words startle me.
“Come with me, Rain. I’d like to check that part out.”
My God! The way he talked now sent shivers down my spine. He ogles at me intently, hand outstretched.
When I look down, I figure out he’s literally coaxing me to hold his hand.
My inside abuzz with unbridled joy and with a swallow of the lump of spittle in my throat, I slide my hand into his.
I sense the zap of electricity through me when we hold hands. Then as we move, all the nerves inside me comes alive.
In between our walk into the forbidden woods, I feel the professor sliding his thumb over my knuckle teasingly.
Our feet snap the twigs. Dry leaves rustle as we move. This time he’s the one leading me.
Why is he acting like he knows this place? I ponder. Amidst my thoughts, I stumble on a rock and unknowingly clash into his back.
“Hey, hey. No rush…” He gushes, holding me up.
Feeling his body pressing into mine, the hairs on my back stand erect.
We’re way too close--- a hairsbreadth away from each other.
“Hey…” He coos, pulling me into his legs. “Were you hurt?” He asks, massaging my leg.
Fuck, what is he thinking touching me like that?
I sink my teeth into my lower lip just to keep myself from moaning.
“No, professor!” I rasp, feeling his harsh breath ghosting over my face.
Slowly, professor Logan brings his head up, leaving a fraction of an inch space between us. His silver eyes burn feverishly into mine and mine into his.
Cutting his sharp gaze away from my eyes, they wander down to my lips.
I unknowingly wet my lips. I don’t know why but the moment I did that, he made an animalistic noise at the back of his throat.
Oh, my God.
His face…
I start to reason the slight change appearing on his face when I hear footfalls closing in on us.
Fuck, someone’s coming and the professor and I are sitting in a compromised position.
“Someone’s coming.” I gush, shooting to my feet as rapid-fire breaths escape my mouth.
The footsteps hammer even closer as the professor stands up, looking behind him.
“What should we do?” I whisper. He looks at me longingly and gestures his head deeper into the woods.
“This way!” He rasps. Crouching low, he lifts me in his arms and begins to meander through the dense forest.
The fluid way he’s moving surprises me but I bask in the intense look he’s giving me.
He runs a few meters away until he stops before a black, old wooden cabin.
“Where is this?” I blurt out as he fusses with the door until it opens.
Logan's just about to respond when the figures emerge, seeing them shivers break out on my skin.
Oh, no. I’m doomed.
Rector, Inker is here with my sister Nadia!
Once she sees me here, I could be expelled from the school.
TBC.
Rain's Pov. *Six Months Later*Peace. Recovery. Happiness. These three things were what I thought our pack would never experience again after the atrocities meted out on us by the Slayers. But I guess I was wrong. For the past few months, these three things have begun to trickle back into our midst. The pack members are back on their feet, rejoicing over the newfound peace and connection we made with the humans. A week ago, Logan called for a conference between werewolves and humans in the town square. All of the people of Oakdale were in attendance, listening as my mate addressed them on the importance of peace between our beings. Oakdale has been divided into two parts. North Oakdale is occupied by humans and South Oakdale, is occupied by our kind. Regardless of the clear boundary, people still choose to live where they desire as long as they're willing to obey the other's norms. The North Oakdale is now under the leadership of Simon Cooper, the man who led the renegade army th
Third Person POV. *** Two A.M*** **In The Manor**Augustine stirred from the cot he was lying on, wheezing calmly through his teeth. The infirmary was dead quiet and as for the guards keeping a close eye on him, they'd been knocked out. It took strenuous effort and days of planning for Augustine to pull this up. The werewolves must be joking if they thought letting them prevail was ever going to happen, Augustine thought as a smile plucked at his lips. He propped up from the cot, the chains binding his hands clattering briefly. It gladdened his heart to see the werewolf guards sprawled haphazardly on the floor, thanks to the Ramah leaves he spiked their water with. You see the adage: keep your friends close and your enemies closer? It was at this point that the adage made more sense to Augustine. He was happy the werewolves kept him closer, closer than they thought. With the chains on his wrists clattering and a dark grin on his face, he walked over to the table cluttered with v
Rain's Pov. "Stop it!!" Logan hollers but I don't stop. My claws slip out, borrowing into the skin of my arms and ripping off the flesh. Blood splooges, melding with the water as it rushes down the drain. "Rain, goddess!!!" Logan growls, horror shock on his face as he bangs on the stall. I had deliberately locked it, knowing Logan would come after me and try to stop me. I don't need him to stop me. I've to wash off this filth. I pull at my hair, tugging at the strands and it makes my scalp burn. The water sluicing down my body is extremely hot but it's not hot enough to wash off the filth. "Haha! Look at her taking my cock!" Their laughter vibrates in my ears.Their strokes brim my mind. The way their fingers sank into my skin, bruising me as I cried. It's all I think about. Their proposal. The bloody wedding dress. Their chant. All of it. I can't breathe. I can't see anything except the dark basement. The torture. Their faces. Their dicks. Their teeth as they bared it in a sm
Rain's Pov. "My luna. Thank goddess you're finally awake." Irene's voice pierces my ears when I stir on the bed. Waking fully, I look over at the woman, surprised to see her towering over me. A full smile covers her lips. "The alpha must be very happy to know you've woken up." The older woman chirps and before I can get any words out, she flees from the room. The moment she's gone, I begin to crack my head. I don't know how I ended up here. My mind is fogged and upon wracking it more, I begin to remember a few things. The Island. The mayors and...the fight. I remember Logan and his father fighting. I remember the witches taking on Sinai. The chopper. All of it, except my return to this room. The door snaps open a moment later and when I look up, I see Logan's burly frame hovering over the door. His eyes light up when they settle on me and I blink, swallowing rapidly to lubricate my parched throat. Logan smilingly walks closer to where I am, humming under his breath. "My luna?"
Logan's POV. "What?" I gasped in total shock at what Ryat had just revealed to me about Rain. She's pregnant. "How far along is she?" I sputter, settling on the edge of the bed Rain's lying on. It's been five days since we left Seychelles. Five days since Rain went into a coma. I feel so guilty looking at the bruises on her thighs, torso, and her breasts. Those depraved men bruised Rain beyond repair. According to Ryat, she was raped countless times. The thought of those men mounting what's mine makes me seethe. I failed Rain, I hum inwardly as tears prickle my eyes. I made a promise to protect her and yet I failed. I left her to the wolves and they devoured her. Even as she sleeps, her pulse hammers. A grimace is on her face and that lets me know she's reliving the horrors she experienced at the Island. "One month...but...uh...I'm not exactly sure since her uterus is yet to fully develop..." Ryat answers, shrugging tentatively. I understand why it's difficult for Ryat to deter
Third Person POV. Chaos brewed across the shore. Blood, howls and screams penetrated the air. The witches battled with Sinai. A woman they had all feared since she upset the balance of nature and sought for the book of Amelek. They all knew defeating Sinai would not be easy but they were willing to make that sacrifice. As Sinai struggled to release her powers against the witches, Aphrodite and the rest of the coven chanted more. Their voices high-pitched. "I WILL KILL YOU ALL. YOU CAN'T DEFEAT ME!!!" She yelled, emitting fire from the tips of her fingers- the witch's fire. To counter that attack, the witch called forth a crystal cocoon that trapped Sinai inside. She struggled to free herself from their cocoon but it was all in vain. Seeing they've successfully trapped her, the witches formed a circle around the cocoon, holding their hands. Then they began the chant of Kadhijabal- the death chant. For them to successfully take Sinai down the purgatory where witches lived their af
