Rain’s POV.
Looking into Professor Logan’s eyes, my breath stalls in my lungs at the way he's peering at me like he's looking into my soul.
I don’t know why I feel like he followed me here deliberately. Is that even possible?
Gosh, my mind is a mess right now as I’m standing right in front of him, lost for words.
I wasn’t aware the rector was calling me only for me to tour professor Logan around the school.
How convenient? Being with the man I’m forcing myself to stay away from?
Then the man chuckles, the baritone so deep it coats my skin with tingles. I get lost in his mesmerizing eyes.
He shoulder passes me, putting some distance between us.
“Lead the way, Rain Hanks.” Is what he says, cocking a brow at me. He knows what that look he's giving me does to me that’s why he keeps glowering at me that way.
Embarrassment mottled my cheeks red when he says. “I simply don’t prioritize stalking my students, Rain Hanks. So, I advise you to get past that thought.”
He adds a gear in his stride, walking down the empty hallway of the rector’s building.
When we step back out under the sun, I take in the crowded ground filled with students who are chattering in groups.
Literally, all the students there pin their eyes on the man, fawning over him. He's so handsome that everyone, including boys couldn’t stop looking at him.
The girls who stare at me do so out of jealousy. I bet they must be cursing me in their heads now.
I’m under tension as we meander through the school. The fact that he has kept silent troubled me. I wanted him to talk.
To say something about what happened last night...
“Listen, Rain Hanks!” At the sound of my name on his lips, I pause and gear my head towards him. The professor breathes then. “About what happened last night? No one should ever know.”
My God, he just said this like he was in my head.
He continues walking and I fall into step beside him. “Why should I?”
“Because that was wrong! Listen…” He turns, towering over me. My whole body jiggle as his frame casts me under shadow. His mesmerizing eyes burn into mine and with a grit of his teeth, he lets out. “You are my student, Rain. So what happened last night will definitely stay that way…”
I blink rapidly, staring at him with furrowed brows. It hurts to know he only rates me as his student.
Even though he’s right something inside me is telling me being with him is the best thing that’ll ever happen to me.
I open my mouth to speak when another voice comes right in.
“Professor Logan!”
The both of us whirl our heads and there stands Nadia in her cheerleading uniform. She looks like she has just finished practice.
“I heard you’re touring the school premises.”
“Yes. Remind me again what your name is?” Logan asks, blinking at Nadia.
When Nadia steps forward, shooting out her hand to shake him my heart clenches. Then their palms lock.
“I’m Nadia Hanks. The school head girl and mayor Hanks first daughter.” Earning a smile from Logan, she turns to me, saying cockily. “You should go. I’ll take it from here."
Her words are firm and authoritative. Knowing her position as the head girl, I nod lightly and turn to leave but what happened next surprised me.
Professor Logan clasps my arm, putting a stop to my movement.
Eyes bulging, I cast a look at Nadia and see she’s looking surprisingly at me and the professor.
“I’m afraid, Nadia. But she stays.”
“But professor I’m the head girl…”
“No, buts, head girl.” He breathes, dusting off the invisible crease in his shirt as he looks briefly at me. “Rain has been assigned to do this. So, I’d rather she tour me around the school.”
My insides bloom with excitement while Nadia’s face is the color of a bad sunburn.
She shoots a wan smile at the professor and nods stiffly before leaving.
I exhale hugely once she’s out of sight. However, I can’t stop thinking why the professor chose me over her.
Regardless of the fact that the rector assigned me to tour him around, Nadia still has the right to dismiss me and take over.
Aside from that, she’s way hotter than I am. My beauty sure doesn’t hold a candle to hers.
So, why me?
“Shall we?” His deep voice interrupts me and I snap out of my thoughts, following him.
“This place leads to the school theater.” I point to a narrow path that leads to the theater.
Professor Logan nods but his eyes are looking straight ahead. Curious, I follow his line of sight.
That’s the woods. It practically has a pathway that can lead someone out of the school.
“Uh…sorry, Professor Logan, we shouldn’t tread that ground.” I stutter, swallowing as I look at him.
He peers down at me and cock a brow. “And why is that?” He asks, still throwing a look that way.
“I don’t know. It’s just…no student has ever crossed that part.”
“You wouldn’t like to explore it?” He smirks at me and I find myself turning into a pool of liquid.
Still contemplating, his next words startle me.
“Come with me, Rain. I’d like to check that part out.”
My God! The way he talked now sent shivers down my spine. He ogles at me intently, hand outstretched.
When I look down, I figure out he’s literally coaxing me to hold his hand.
My inside abuzz with unbridled joy and with a swallow of the lump of spittle in my throat, I slide my hand into his.
I sense the zap of electricity through me when we hold hands. Then as we move, all the nerves inside me comes alive.
In between our walk into the forbidden woods, I feel the professor sliding his thumb over my knuckle teasingly.
Our feet snap the twigs. Dry leaves rustle as we move. This time he’s the one leading me.
Why is he acting like he knows this place? I ponder. Amidst my thoughts, I stumble on a rock and unknowingly clash into his back.
“Hey, hey. No rush…” He gushes, holding me up.
Feeling his body pressing into mine, the hairs on my back stand erect.
We’re way too close--- a hairsbreadth away from each other.
“Hey…” He coos, pulling me into his legs. “Were you hurt?” He asks, massaging my leg.
Fuck, what is he thinking touching me like that?
I sink my teeth into my lower lip just to keep myself from moaning.
“No, professor!” I rasp, feeling his harsh breath ghosting over my face.
Slowly, professor Logan brings his head up, leaving a fraction of an inch space between us. His silver eyes burn feverishly into mine and mine into his.
Cutting his sharp gaze away from my eyes, they wander down to my lips.
I unknowingly wet my lips. I don’t know why but the moment I did that, he made an animalistic noise at the back of his throat.
Oh, my God.
His face…
I start to reason the slight change appearing on his face when I hear footfalls closing in on us.
Fuck, someone’s coming and the professor and I are sitting in a compromised position.
“Someone’s coming.” I gush, shooting to my feet as rapid-fire breaths escape my mouth.
The footsteps hammer even closer as the professor stands up, looking behind him.
“What should we do?” I whisper. He looks at me longingly and gestures his head deeper into the woods.
“This way!” He rasps. Crouching low, he lifts me in his arms and begins to meander through the dense forest.
The fluid way he’s moving surprises me but I bask in the intense look he’s giving me.
He runs a few meters away until he stops before a black, old wooden cabin.
“Where is this?” I blurt out as he fusses with the door until it opens.
Logan's just about to respond when the figures emerge, seeing them shivers break out on my skin.
Oh, no. I’m doomed.
Rector, Inker is here with my sister Nadia!
Once she sees me here, I could be expelled from the school.
TBC.
Logan’s POV.I shouldn’t be here with her!I shouldn’t be feeling the satiny flesh of her skin with my palms.Despite how much I tell myself that, my wolf insists on being by her side.To touch her. To kiss her.Fuck! It’s all messing with my head, burning my soul.Blade roars inside me, ordering me to spend more time with her. Then I ask her to hold my hand so we can wander into the woods. She said it’s a forbidden part of the school. Students aren’t allowed there but I know better. That’s the place it all started. My wolf purrs in my head when Rain knit our palms together and we begin to venture deeper into the woods. My nerves are frayed with an unbridled need to be inside her.The wagging of my wolf’s tail, the purring of my balls and the ripe tension I feel coming from Rain muddles my mind. When she mistakenly stumbles and falls into me, I give in.I pull her into my thighs, assessing her foot to see if she obtained any injury. Though I see none I keep caressing her foot.My fang
Rain’s POV.Whimpers of bliss vibrate from my chest, mixing with the pains I feel. But with each passing moment, he kisses me, crowding me with the heat of his body, I notice the pain isn’t there any longer. How’s that possible? Is all ponder on. Professor Logan tights his mouth on mine, holding the sides of my face.I give in, my legs parting to welcome him in between my legs fully. Tension uncoil in my belly as I savor the kiss.Wow! Hmmm. This is so good! I rasp. When he pulls back, his harsh breath washes over my face. Then… “Does it still hurt?”I wrack my mind to check if I still feel pain but I don’t.Strange, I ponder, ogling at his face through the dark.“Rain…” He chirps and his husky voice sends chills down my spine. “We shouldn’t have come here.” Echoes his voice.Professor Logan zips up from me, facing away as if he’s battling demons. But I know he's only battling his attraction for me.I refuse to battle mine for him anymore, certainly, not after that sizzling, mind-mush
Rain’s POV.“Gosh!” I let out, trying to meet up with Professor Logan’s car. He’s speeding away from our vicinity, making it difficult for me to catch up with him.“Hurry up!” I whisper under my breath to my bicycle, riding fast while also making sure he doesn’t see me coming after him.I turn every corner he turns to. Much to my surprise, I realize he’s driving back to the school direction. What? Why is he going back there? I wonder.“Fuck!” I yelp and squelch my tires to a stop when I see him kill his engine before a man standing by the sidewalk.I watch them in the dim parts, trying to hear what the blond-haired man is saying to him but it’s totally impossible to hear them. The blond then nods and enters the car. Professor Logan quickly starts the car and they zoom away.Again, I try to stalk my professor but the blaring horn and my name coming out of someone’s mouth makes me stop.“Rain!! Come over here!”Kylie! I mutter inwardly, turning my gloomy face to my girlfriend. She obvio
Logan’s POV.Hiding in Rain’s bathroom, I peep at the older woman and wait for her to leave. She tucks Rain's duvet well, caressing her hair.Though it’s dark, I still make out her face and she looks the same as the picture Lester showed when I asked him to dig in deeper about Mr. Hanks's household. The woman struts to the dresser but I can’t see what she did there exactly before reaching the exit.I thought she had left when I pushed the bathroom door open, the hinges hissed and her voice echoed in the dark room.“Who's there?”My eyes go owl-wide immediately, my breath stalling.“I said who’s there?” The woman screeches and I hear her footsteps coming closer.Fuck! I curse, clenching back into the bathroom. I don’t know what I step onto but I suddenly find myself in a small walk-in closet, and into a heap of Rain's panties.“Dammit!” I curse, picking up some panties to stuff over my mouth.Jeez, what the heck am I doing placing Rain‘s panties over my mouth? I ask myself.Regardless
Logan’s POV.The blinds are drawn, allowing the morning sun to filter into my study. My footsteps echo as I head over to my bar nonchalantly, grabbing a bottle of margarita.Back behind my desk, I settle into my seat with a wince and pour the drink into my glass filled with three ice cubes. The two young men in the room watch me with curiosity. I know Lester watches me with worry given the slight wound I obtained earlier this morning.“Hmmm…” a hum escapes me when I take a drink, wetting my throat. Then I glare back at Tiago. “Let me guess, the rulers have notched up their security just to keep us away from this town?”Tiago swallows, a grit to his jaw as he nods. It actually amazes me how he manages to pretend to be human all these years while living under the noses of the four rulers. The four founders of Oakdale.Tiago literally works for Mr. Hanks, the highest and most powerful of the four rulers. He's Mr. Hanks' assistant. Tiago fell in love with someone and decided to stay human
Rain’s POV. I wake up with a startling gasp, panting as my heart pulsates. My wide eyes take in my room. Fuck, I feel like something strange happened here last night. Omigod, I sigh at the banging in my head. It usually happens whenever I wake up the way I just did. I need a drink of water, I whisper inwardly to myself. Pulling the duvet aside, I cast my legs on the floor. When I rise up, I stretch my back, bones cracking at the impact. I was just about to move into the bathroom when my eyes closed in on a clump of sand on the floor. “What?” I bite out, feeling a rising tremble in my knees. I crouch low and scoop up the sand. My fingers smear over it and one thought races through my mind. “Someone was in here last night.” I gasp, wondering who. If it was Nadia she must have woken me up when she came into the room. Besides, Nadia’s shoes are always spotless. She never leaves a dent. Nadia is out of the question now. It has to be someone else, but who? Emerging back on my feet,
Rain’s POV. “Kahak-kahak!” I cough loudly, doubling over at the suffocating smoke ringing throughout the room. Oh no! This is double…punishment, I stutter under my breath, trying to cover my nose from inhaling the toxic smoke. How in hell am I gonna stay here all night until the party is done? God, no. I’m gonna die. A tear wriggle out of my eye. I don’t wanna die. I cough harshly again as the clouding smoke rages, the flames burning and crackling. Holding my breath, I move further down the confined spaced, my heart racing, threatening to jump out of my chest. There’s a single window at the end and when I reach over to open it, it doesn’t budge. Whirling back, I figure out another log of wood by the corner has been lit, adding another flame to the already burning ones. I can’t see any more safe for the cloud of toxic smoke. “No.no.no, please.” I bawl, slumping on my feet. I can’t die here. I don’t know what pushes me to emerge on my feet and when I do, I look for another a
Rain’s POV.“Oh, hmm...mmm" I can’t help sighing the instant my body collides with the water. I throw my head up in the sky, enjoying the whip of the air over my face.Thank fuck I got out of that room, else, I’d have choked.I try to force myself not to feel scared about my father finding out. Right now, I need to enjoy the peace and quiet this stream offers.I can hear the rhythmic caws of the crows and ravens. The birdsong soothing to my ears.My life sucks always but this is usually my escape. Either I stay here in the stream, swimming until my limbs grow sore or I sneak to Killan’s place.Well, now, Killian’s no longer in the picture. I’m all alone. The distant music coming from the ballroom is clear evidence that I’ve lost him to my sister.I always lose everything to Nadia. My life, my position, possession, you name. My sister is always in the spotlight. Our dad's favorite.Remembering how my father locked me up, and the mock-smile Nadia sent my way while I was being taken away
This chapter has triggers.Third Person POV. "It's all done, mayors," Sinai announced when she emerged in the chamber where the mayors were. Their eyes glinted with intent. Smiling hugely, Mr. Hanks dropped his glass of wine on the side table which landed with a clink. "So, she's all prepared to receive us?" He asked Sinai. The older woman nodded, her head hunkered. Despite Rain's refusal to comply with the instructions ladled out, the obedience drug injected into her water had made Rain pliant, ready to be taken by the mayors. "As you ordered, mayor," She intoned. A short, contemptuous laugh whispered from across the room, coming from Mr. Grant. "That's impressive news." He rose, adjusting the invincible crease on his shirt. "I can not wait to dive into that gracious cunt of goodness." Silence met his words, making him veer around to face the others. "Is there a reason for the delay, friends?" Before performing the ritual, it was of prime importance for them to feed sexually
Logan's POV. The car tires scream over the asphalt as I drive into the manor. Hastily, Lester and I alight from the car, slamming the doors shut. My gaze roams around the manor as the guards and patrolling officers begin to come our way, guns pointing directly at us. This was their plan all along. The fucking Slayers. Lester rounds the car until his back slams against mine, making us one against our enemies. The men are uncountable, poised to strike. Lester's breaths permeate my ears as we both take in the advancing enemies. "What should we do, alpha?" He questions, rage seething beneath his skin. They took Rain. They took my Luna. Darkness crawls the edges of my vision as I imagine what pain she must be suffering. No, I can't let these men win me. I can't let them take the gift of the goddess to me-- my mate. Rage spurred to the surface, I growl, "Kill them!" At that, Lester and I roar and shift Into wolves before the men. Then the carnage begins. Roaring into the dark sk
Rain’s POV. “You know, it still surprises me how you managed to hide your true self from me, Rain, despite all I did to trigger you…” Mr. Hanks says, coming closer to me.The wave of anger I feel deep inside me as I stare up at him causes me to spit on his face. Mr. Hanks's eyes darkened. Slowly, his fingers creep up his face and he gently dabs at the slimy liquid. The guards tighten their hold on me, waiting for an order from the mayor. The rest of the Slayers bash me with hateful glares, I feel it dribbling down my joints. Veering my eyes back at Mr. Hanks when I hear him laughing, my lips curl downward. He doubles over again, laughing harder. My face turns beet red as I wonder the reason for the laughter. When he ceases to laugh, he pierces me with his devouring gaze. “This…is such a deja vu moment, Rain.” He boisterously says, throwing his hands up. “What do you mean?” I growl, fighting against the bruising hold of the guards. Mr. Hanks heaves a breath and then hums, “Yulia
Rain's POV. I turn to the next page of the book I've been reading since morning, huffing as I bask in the captivating scenes. Gosh, I've been waiting for so long for the main characters to share their first kiss. Now that it's about to happen, my interest piques and I settle deeper into the chair and cross my legs. Then I savor the words. His possessive words and touch. I don't know when I giggle so loud that the student beside me in the library curses and barks. "Can you keep it down? You ain't the only one reading!" "Oops, apologies," I chatter out and briskly pin my eyes back on the pages of the book. Ohh, the chemistry between them is so powerful, it makes me bite down on my lip. Ahh, I practically shrieked when his lips finally met with hers. The kiss started out slow before turning into a frenzy. And the girl's moan is the perfect sound in such a quiet environment. I don't understand how I can hear it go off in my head. Unknowingly, my shrieks became loud again. It must
Third Person POV. A boisterous cheer ripped from the mayors' mouths. A nice parcel of news had just reached them from the Facility. The Fomorrh has been produced and that was something to be celebrated. "At long last. We've achieved our aim!" Mr. Fell's voice tore through the clinking of glasses in Mr. Hanks' chamber."Ahh, you could say that, Fell. We no longer need to fear them. For they will now be killing each other." Mr. Grant hummed, grabbing a champagne flute from the table, and shuffling to join the others on the line of couches. When Mr. Grant whisked a glance over Mr. Hanks he smiled, knowing the man was basking in their victory. He could see a blooming smile on Mr. Hanks's face. "Our lives shall be ours forever. Oh, I've started making arrangements about the next woman to marry." Mr. Grant chimed in, sipping his drink languidly. He had started buying women from traders across North America, tasting as many women as he could until he found the one tasty enough to be call
Logan's POV. I take a moment to swallow down my beating pulse, my desperation, before uttering. "The Slayers have my father hostage in the dungeon." A slight pause. Then, "I'm thinking he is the one the Slayers' eternal life is bound to."I feel Lester alternating his gaze between me and the witches. Aphrodite scoffs but I don't flinch. I'll do all I can to free my father. The thought of him being in that dungeon for the past two centuries clenches my heart. He wasn't dead all this while I thought I had lost him. I've one family member remaining. One I need to save at all costs. "That has nothing to do with us, alpha Logan. We cannot risk our lives for you or any other..." I barge forward, teeth gritted. "I...am...willing to do all I can just for you to help me. Anything possible, you name it, Aphrodite." My chest is heaving from how hard I breathe. She has to agree. She has to help me. "You don't understand, you do?" Her eyes flare when she looks back at me. Fiercely, Aphrodi
Logan's POV. I erect from the couch I'm lounging on the moment I feel the first sting of Sun rays on me. My eyes narrow as I turn and look out the window. It's fucking morning! I tell myself, feeling the ugly hands of doom on my biceps, it stretches down to my heart. The feeling causes me to pant as I look down at the bottle of Scotch in my hand. I'd drank it down in half. The amber liquid had been my go-to the moment I stepped into the mansion last night. I'd clung to it like it held all the answers I seek. The goal was to drink so hard until I forget about the doom I feel gripping me like a vise. Since the preparation of this war against the Slayers, I've been having this feeling. Like our fucking end is nigh. No, I shake my head, trashing that damn feeling. The Slayers won over us before but not anymore. Now, I've a band of soldiers ready to fight against those men. A band of soldiers that are irresistible to silver and wolfsbane bullets. Hell, the Slayers will be no match t
Rain's POV. "You asked to see us," One of the hefty men shoves towards us, burning his eyes on Logan. The gun he wields dangles by his side. "Yes, Simon, right?" Logan asks, outstretching his hand for a handshake. As the man nods, he shakes Logan's hand too. "Good to see you all are here..." With that Logan begins his tirade, letting the soldiers know what we truly are. In the end, the men agreed to be our allies in the war but only on one condition which was the splitting of Oakdale between werewolves and humans. The request was a little difficult to accept but at last, Logan agreed."Before we begin, I'd need you to help me steal something from someone..." My heart leaps with joy at that request, and surprisingly the soldiers agree and Logan tells them about Ivy and her place of refuge in Oakdale. According to Logan, she rented out an apartment using the name of one of her bodyguards. Once the men take the address, they exit the pack house, awaiting Logan's order on when to ste
Rain's POV. I let out a sigh as I read the text once more. Shit is getting crazier every day since Ivy came into our lives. Now, she's demanding more. I've built my life around Logan and the pack as their Luna to let her ruin things for me, for us. Hence, I'll play her game until I beat her to it. I exit the car, slamming it shut behind me. I lured Mr. Clint into letting me drive myself here. I clasp the stray lock of my hair behind my ear and prance into the diner. Surprisingly, there's no one here except Logan and Ivy. They're seated opposite each other, gazing at themselves. Given how taut Logan's back is, I know just how much he must be seething inwardly. Simultaneously, they cut their gazes away from each other when the staccato of my heels echo. Logan bristles while Ivy plasters a smile on her face. That wicked witch of the west, I curse her under my breath. "Ahh, here she is," She rises, a sardonic grin on her face. I hate the slightest glimpse of her. Right this moment,
