Russo’s POVThe sun and the sand had ways of beating down on a man. The dunes shimmered in the oppressive heat. Russo lay on a rocky outcrop and he could taste the sand in his mouth. The dunes were far behind them now and the sun would only set in three more hours.They had located a rogue group of wolves that had entered one of their camps and gotten their hands on weapons that even they weren’t supposed to have. His hands were gentle and his movements slow, like he was afraid of hurting her.Troy pulled his shorts down to the floor and took her hand again. They stood under the spray of water and Troy closed his eyes as the water ran over them. His hands trailed over her back and the water draining from the shower plug was bright red for a few seconds.Troy washed every inch of Reese’s body and then washed himself as she washed her hair. He’d scented the one warrior on her the previous day and he knew they were sleeping together.In all honesty he wanted her to reject him. He wasn’t sure he could spend a lifetime looking into her eyes and knowing he had some responsibility towards her brother’s death.
