Chapter Ninety

“There she is!” Kroll’s voice cut through the air like a dagger, each syllable stung. Kroll was perched in an oversized wooden chair, a demented king on his throne with Greta standing beside him. A cruel smirk was plastered on her face.

“She’s here; what do you want?” Alaric dryly motioned towards me.

“You can leave, little boy.” Greta giggled maniacally at Alaric. The flustered woman from the hall had dissipated into the night. Hiding in Kroll’s shadow seemed to empower her.

“I’m sorry, Kroll, did you hear that buzzing? I think a bug somehow got in here.” Alaric swatted at the air. Kroll rolled his eyes at his nephew.

“Shut up, both of you! I didn’t tell you to bring the blessed wolf here just for me to be forced to watch a childish fight.” Kroll growled towards Alaric and Greta. Silence fell over the room.
