Ava's POV
Satisfied with the manipulations of the pack members, I decided to move to my next plan and that was confronting Alpha Gregory.I wasn't going to do it alone, I was going to do it with the aid of a powerful sorcerer as it wasn't going to be easy if I handled it myself.Standing at the borders next to the sorcerer, I placed my hand on my dagger which was strapped firmly around my waist. With the alarm of rogues at the borders, Alpha Gregory was going to leave whatever he was doing and find his way here.Several times I have heard him talk about the safety of his pack being one of his priorities and not only that, he had demonstrated countlessly.Today was not going to be any different. The aura from the sorcerer next to me gave me so much confidence. He was tagged the best and that's why I chose to form an alliance with him knowing I wasn't going to regret my actions. The air was thick with the scGregory’s POVI was shocked to see Ava at the borders instead of the rogues like I was informed. She didn't come for negotiations, she was here for revenge and to make that happen, she came with a sorcerer who cast spells on my armies before doing the same to me. Fighting against the sorcerer's magic was like I was fighting against a demon which was triple my size. His magic was like I was being whipped with fire that scotched my skin and left a burning sensation in my veins. The sorcerer continued tormenting me, giving me no time to breathe as the pain came hitting me in bolts. Gritting my teeth amidst the pain, I struggled to remain on my feet. My armies were frozen, I couldn't afford to fall when the whole life of my pack depended on me. And then, there was Stephanie and our child whom I had vowed to protect. With this in mind, I continued fighting against the magic but I was losing strength.
Stephanie's POVThe sound of hurried footsteps made my eyes flicker open and at once I sat up.Recalling what happened before darkness took over, I was staring into space but the noise from outside took over my reasoning. Davies? I had seen Davies at the borders before I passed out. Was I back at his pack? What is he going to do with me?Throwing my feet off the bed, I scurried towards the door, my heart pounding in my chest as dread settled over me. Something was wrong and I wonder what it was. Realizing I was still in Alpha Gregory's pack, I exhaled in relief. The pack members, have they finally reached the decision of throwing me out? — I pondered but I waved the thought off almost immediately. The sound beyond the door was more like that of a battle cry. “There are rouges at the borders. They are going to infiltrate the pack." The moment I heard this, I yanked the door open, allowing my eyes to roam through the hallway which was in chaos. “Ava, she is not dead. She is at
Stephanie's POV Standing behind the cot of my children, my heart fluttered as a permanent smile remained on my lips. They were so adorable and I wouldn't mind spending the whole day watching my little darlings I had vowed to nurture into great men. “My lady, it's time to have your bath so we can proceed for breakfast." Sarah spoke from the door. When I didn't give her a response, she closed the distance between us and with her hand resting tenderly on mine, she asked, “Are you skipping breakfast today?" Nodding at the twins, she added, “They are hard suckers, you need to eat a lot to withstand them." Swirling to face her, I mouthed, “Aren't they beautiful?" “Yes, they are. They are both adorable." “Who do you think will take after me?"She was about to answer when the door creaked open and Alpha Gregory walked in. “Excuse me." She took her leave, leaving me with Gregory who was already beside me and the kids.“I will look after them, go and have a bath." He tried to steer me
Alpha Gregory's POV The incessant itching and scratching, I noticed it all but I said nothing to her about it. I wanted her to tell me but she kept it to herself so I felt it wasn't bad as I thought. At the dining table, I kept casting her side glances. The look on her face showed she was in pain but still, she kept it to herself.Suddenly, she began to twitch and turn.Seeing it had escalated, I had no choice but to call out to the physician for help but he was taking too long and Stephanie was crying.“He will be here soon." I said, trying to relieve her of the pain she felt but it was of no use. Hurrying towards the door, I wanted to go fetch the physician myself but I couldn't leave Stephanie on her own; hence I was conflicted. Rushing to her side, I wanted to help ease the pain she felt when she suddenly went limp and the next second, she was falling off her chair.“My lord…” The physician announced his presence, standing behind the door. "What took you so long?” I yelled
Davies's POV For the past months, I haven't crossed paths with the seekers and it had been a relief considering the heartbreak I was dealing with. Mourning the loss of Stephanie and trying to avoid the seekers that were after my life was definitely going to make me go insane. Looking over the lush expanse of vegetation right under my window, I tried to stop my mind from racing with different thoughts but I had no control over it.Ever since Stephanie left, I haven't remained the same. Her absence left a void in my heart, making me wonder where I had gone wrong that would make her leave without telling me about it. She didn't even give me the chance to express my feelings to her before she left for Alpha Gregory. Resting against the wall, I couldn't help but reminisce about the times we shared together, and it made my heart ache. If only I could rewind the hands of the clock, I would be the happiest being
Davies's POV The Seekers continued to torment me non stop. When it seemed they weren't going to get what they wanted, the seekers left me alone but I was still confined in their experiment room. Patiently, I wanted for them to release me from the felters they had used to bind me but it seemed that wasn't going to happen. Day in, day out, I remained tied to the chair.I was still awaiting my fate when the door flung open and the old seeker walked in, followed by two youngsters flanked on both sides. “You didn't get what you wanted, let me go." I said, locking eyes with him. “We are taking you to the dungeon." He announced and immediately, the two young seekers made their way towards me. Thrashing about, I yelled at them, preventing them from coming any closer. With my eyes almost popping from their sockets, I yelled, “Let me go." Amused with my distress cries, the seekers began to laugh, making
Davies’s POVThere he is.For the rest of my life, I can never forget the face of the father who was behind the death of my mother even though I was diagnosed with amnesia. His face haunted me each time I remembered it.“You…” I yelled, trying to get off the constraints that were holding me back but it was to no avail. Thrashing about didn't help either and making me even more enraged, he was smirking. "Long time no see Davies.” He mouthed, walking further in my direction, the smirk on his face still stamped on it. "How dare you show your face here after what you have done?” I yelled at him. "I will never forgive you even if you ask all the elements to beg on your behalf.” I yelled again. The sickening aura in the room made me recoil but my gaze was still fixated on the man I had sworn not to forget in my life. He should be dead considering what had happened that day.Why in heaven's name
Stephanie's POV Stunned, I couldn't help but keep staring into space for as long as I could remember. I could hear Davies clearly. It was as if we were having a face to face conversation. Warmed with this discovery, my eyes watered. “Davies, are you there?" I asked when he didn't speak after a while.“Uhm." He sounded like a dying man which made me start panicking as I wondered what the issue was. Leaning forward, I murmured, “Tell me, are you alright?" My heart was beating rapidly against my chest making it seem like it was going to burst in any second. “The seekers. I have been at their mercy for almost a month now." Alarmed, I gulped. Holding my breath, I listened attentively to his tale about the seekers' torment and this made tears welled up in my eyes. If only I was there with him, this wouldn't have happened. — I couldn't help but to blame myself for his current situation.
Davies's POVTitling my head to the side, a low wince escaped from my lips.Just when I thought things had returned to normalcy, they struck again but their target this time was Stephanie and her kids.I felt guilty for pulling Stephanie into the mess I had created. Before I could open my mouth to speak, my decision had been made, “I’m coming.”“Thank you." Gregory said, patting my back while I just nodded. He didn't need to thank me. I was the one who created the mess so it was only right for me to clean up.“We are going to find Stephanie and the kids." I said, my hand resting on my chest to show I was being sincere with my words. To save them, I was willing to do whatever it takes even if I had to put my life on the line to make it happen.
Davies's POVIt had been two weeks since Alpha Gregory rescued me from the hands of the seekers and I had recovered fully.Looking back, I could only imagine what the seekers would have done to me if not for his timely intervention I was immensely grateful for.Life had returned to normalcy.I no longer spent my day constantly looking over my shoulders and wondering what next the seekers were up to.Walking up to the window in my study, I allowed my eyes to linger on the lush vegetation that went on for miles as I thought of only one person.Stephanie.I had tried all I could to forget about her after the warning I received from Gregory's beta but it was to no avail. Each time, I found myself thinking about her, where she was and if she was thinking about me too.
Davies’s POVIt had been five days since I told Stephanie about my predicament, yet she hadn't shown up.The only thing I was holding onto was her promise of coming to save me but it seems that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. My grip on her promise was getting weak. I might as well discard it and resign to my fate as no one was coming to help. And just when I thought the Seekers were going to have an upper hand over me, Gregory and his men arrived at the dungeon. Earlier, I had sensed a different energy saturating the atmosphere and what I thought was a greater force working with the seekers was here to torment me.But it turned out to be Alpha Gregory and his men. In my life, I have never been relieved to see someone and so it was a new experience for me entirely. The moment Gregory and his men invaded the dungeon that was securely guarded by the Seekers', everything changed. The battle between them was fierce. Just as the Seekers were powerful, so were Gregory and his men
Alpha Gregory's POV The promise I made to Stephanie kept ringing in my head as I made my way towards my study. “I can't believe I actually agreed to save the one man who is a threat to my happiness with Stephanie." I muttered, plopping on my chair with a huff. Shutting my eyes tightly, I snapped it open as my heart clenched tightly against my chest. Is she finally showing her true self now? — I pondered, tilting my head to the side as I played and replayed her request in my head. Asking me to help Davies even when she isn't with him… maybe the pack members were right that she isn't loyal to us. Pushing my hand into my hair, I tugged on it for a while. At the moment, I was in an emotional turmoil that was threatening to make me lose my mind. Why would she put me up to that task?Truly, she never got over Davies yet. She was still in communication with him. “I should have known." I mumbled. “Know what?" Frank asked and immediately, I snapped my head upwards. I had no idea he
