ASHER

If I did not sense it before, it became clear to me in the few hours I spent in the abandoned warehouse trying to make sure that I caught the person who had shot Heather. She had been attacked from the top of the roof, and I was very certain the point of the attack was to keep her quiet.

But who would do that? Why? Was this all about getting money from me? Or was it deeper than that?

"We couldn't find her, sir." Gaston said to me when he returned with the detectives. As sweat poured down his face, I nodded in approval and tapped his shoulder kindly.

"You have done more than enough, Gaston." I tilted my neck while I tried to look around.

Sophia and the boys had left the area after the gunshot was heard. I was not certain if there were more snipers around, and sure as hell was not willing to take my chances.

"What do we do now, your majesty?" He asked as he placed both hands on his waist while painting heavily. I chuckled, it was the shortest and most sarcastic I had ever do

SOPHIA I knew for a fact that I had to speak to Asher at some point. No matter how much I wanted to, I knew that I could not hide away in the room forever while the rest of the world outside made up their mind on what to do with us. However, what I did not expect was the knock on my door that happened less than ten minutes after my boys had gone to bed that night. While my heart was all but relaxed, I slowly rose from the bed and sauntered across the floor, gliding not so gracefully towards the door. By the time I touched the knob, I could feel my heart pounding against my chest voraciously, but there was little to nothing I could do about that. I turned the knob and pulled the door open. One can only imagine the mix of displeasure and horror that washed over me, draining blood from my face once I stared into Asher's blue eyes. He looked straight past me, and into the room. Once his eyes rested on the boys, I caught them softening. "Asher," I said aloud, forcing a nervous chuck

ASHER It wasn't fair. None of it was. As early as seven a.m. the next morning, the elders were present at the throne room. I made sure to call a neutral doctor to conduct the test. Doctor Theodore was a specialist at Onyx Herald's Royal hospital, and I contacted him once I made the decision to get a DNA test done. I was seated on the throne while the elders took their respective places. My mother and Ivan insisted on being present, to which I did not object. It wasn't until 8am that Sophia arrived with the boys. Once I set my eyes on them, my heart beat skipped a hundred beats at once. David, Daniel, and Darwin. The boys who might turn out to be my sons at the end of this exercise. Deep down, I was more than glad, but a part of me was torn by the fact that if it turned out to be true, I would have lost out on a huge part of their childhood. Their first walk, their first words, how they reacted to knowing they were triplets, everything. She held on to them like they were her li

SOPHIA Those three sentences read aloud in the presence of the entire royalty of Dark Moon were more than enough to change the fate of my life and that of my sons seated beside me.From the corner of my right eye, I could see David shift uncomfortably in his seat while holding on to Darwin, who seemed like he could fall to the ground in tears any moment. It hurt me to see them like this. I had never intended to lie to any of them. Personally, I wished I could have said the truth, but that was a far cry. The truth would have completely shattered them, and I could not break their hearts in such a manner. After the meeting, I sat still in my chair and watched as almost every elder stepped out of the throne room after throwing me a nasty glare. Of course, I would be the villain. Who else were they supposed to blame? Certainly not the man whose threat sent me out of the only home I had ever known. "Daddy?" Daniel coughed out, and it was the uncertainty in his voice that caused to raise

ASHER As instructed, the next morning started on a busy note. The host of Palace staff and guards worked to make sure that the garden was ready for my... Sophia and my wedding. To be honest, I could not exactly say I was looking forward to it. After all, I was about to swear the rest of my life to another liar. How could I possibly be looking forward to something like that? But this time, I was sure to be different, I promised myself that. This time, I know the nature of the snake I'll be sharing a bed with, and I know just how to keep her in her place. I didn't see Sophia or any of the boys until evening, when I stood at the caricature altar before the priest, and a congregation that comprised of the elders, the royal family - besides my father who was yet to recover - a few important guests, and unknown extended family, waiting patiently (or not) for my bride to make her way down the aisle.Oh! And there she was! As the instrumentalists rose to their feet to play the famous "He

SOPHIA "I hate him! I hate him so fucking much! I fucking hate him!" I continued to kick the walls of the corridors that mocked my predicament as I hurried over to the room my boys would be in. They were the only ones capable of comforting me at that difficult part of my life. Damn! Believe me when I say that the horrors of the mate bond had never hit me so hard. I knew that I was mated to Asher from the second I saw his face after I returned to Dark Moon, but it had been so easy to ignore it and focus on how much I needed to stay away from him. Until tonight. When I saw Savannah fall into my mate's arms and his hands encircled her body in a way a part of me wished they would do to mine, I lost it. I lost my ability to block out the voice in my head that told me I didn't need him. At that moment, I needed him to hold me that way. Jealousy threatened to rip my heart out of my chest and the pain was something I could not ignore. "Why wouldn't he just reject me?" I coughed out, tear

ASHER Sophia Bailey, my first love, stood underneath the dim light of the moon, wide-eyed as though she had just seen a ghost. From where I sat, it was easy to sniff in her fear. The sleeveless straps of her dress and the low neckline aided in magnifying the goosebumps that rose at the surface of her skin. Was she scared? "Tsk." I made a sound, kissing the back of my teeth with my tongue. "You're really going to make me come to you, aren't you?" "Don't." She spat out, clenching her fists beside her. I arched my right brow as my smile broadened. "Don't what, Darling?" "Don't call me that. Please, don't call me that..." She stopped speaking when I rose from the bench. "And don't come close to me. Stay right where you are, Asher! Don't, don't come any closer...I'm warning you." One thing about me was that I was not one to listen to instructions, especially when they came from a woman I knew I had wrapped around my finger. Sophia Bailey Morris feared me, and at that point, that

SOPHIA "Stop! Bring him back! It's not possible! It can't be!" When I ran after Asher in a bid to force him to have the difficult conversation he had just walked out of, his mother crying at the top of her voice, and Asher standing still and staring at his father's rock hard body was the last thing I expected to see. I could swear that my heart leapt from my chest and into my throat at that very moment. "NO." I heard myself repeat over and over again. "This can't be." I pushed past the small crowd that gathered around him and stood beside the stretcher. On seeing me, the guards nodded to one another and made way for me. I could feel my heart slowly shrink in my chest. I pulled the purple linen off him to examine his body. Panic washed over me like cold water by the sea shore. His body was white. He had been dead for at least six hours. "Do something, Sophia!" Asher's mother continued to wail. "Bring him back! He can't go like this! I'm not ready to watch him go like this!" I p

ASHERRaspberries and a mix of heaven. That was exactly what Sophia's lips tasted like. The excitement that burst in my belly once our lips collided and our tongues intertwined was one unlike anything I had ever felt before. And when she moaned against my lips and seized my upper lip with her lower lip, I could almost feel myself losing my mind. I was not aware of how much or how dire I had needed her, wanted her, until that very moment when time stopped, and she was the only thing and person to exist in the entire universe. Except my father. Only, he didn't exist anymore because his dead body was just carried out of the Palace in my presence, and there was nothing I could do to bring him back. Sophia broke the kiss, and her eyes were laced with concern as they narrowed on me. She cupped both my cheeks with both her hands and made sure that I kept my eyes on nothing but her. "Are you alright, Asher?" "Hmmm." I nodded and started to turn away from her. I was a mess, and I could

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Dearest gentle reader,

This has been an emotional roller coaster for me. This story began in January, and since then, a lot of things have happened. I’ve been sick, I’ve had countless visits to the hospital, gotten an operation, entered final year in medical school, a lot of things actually. And finally, after nine months, I get to say goodbye to the beautiful Morris family, and everyone involved in their story. It wasn’t easy, but you all stood by me. I hope you enjoyed this story as much I almost enjoyed writing it. And I hope to see you again in my next project coming in OCTOBER, and my debut billionaire romance novel. Thank you all. Xoxo, Bella Hemsworth.

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Epilogue

SEVEN MONTHS LATER AUTHOR The sound of the door closing had everyone up on their feet. Daniel, Darwin, Lillie who had been fidgeting on her seat, Queen Sophia, even little Emilia. The doctor blinked twice, fairly surprised by how fast they had all stood. All the set of eyes that peered at her caused her to clear her throat. She couldn’t blame them for being anxious. Princess Darla had been in the labor room for over eight hours. “How’s everything? How’s she? How’s…?” Lillie moved to the front, and the doctor smiled at her. “Everything is fine, your highness. Princess Darla has just delivered two beautiful and handsome children.” Silence hung in the air for three brief seconds. Yes. The doctor had counted. “Does this mean…?” Lillie asked with wide eyes. “Yes.” The tall lady replied. “Twins.” “Oh my God!” Lillie screamed, tears in her eyes as she watched everyone else rush into the room. They were supposed to have gone in one by one, but even the doctor knew better than to tr

Lillie’s POV *THREE WEEKS LATER* I stood outside Darla’s room, taking a deep breath before knocking softly. No response, but I knew she was in there. I could hear her crying from where I stood. Even her large twin doors had done nothing to mask the sound of her sorry. I turned mine into a ball in my throat and swallowed hard to push it down to my stomach. It couldn’t come out, not today. I reached for her door knob, opened the door and found her sitting on the edge of her bed, her face pale, her eyes swollen from crying. The black dress Darwin had gotten for her lay untouched in a rumpled mess beside her."Darla, you need to get ready," I said gently, stepping inside. "It’s time."She shook her head, her hands trembling as they gripped the sheets. "I can’t," she whispered. "If I get dressed… if I go downstairs… it means he’s really gone. That Logan is really gone, and I’ll never see him again. The love of my life, Lillie… the father of my child." Her voice cracked, her should

David’s POV Blood. All over the room. Dripping from every wound in my body. I didn’t need to see my reflection in the mirror to know I had been beaten up real good. Yet, when I saw it, a bitter chuckle forced its way out of my throat. I had managed to kill them all even in my state. The fuckers must have known they wouldn’t be able to stand a chance, hence why they had to poison me. In those last minutes of my life, the faces of my brothers flashed in my mind as I sat on my bed. My brothers, my sisters, my darling mother who had seen so much loss in her time. I never thought I’d see them again. I thought that, by the time they reached the hospital, I’d be long gone. When the rogues came, I was sure it was over. They had knives, weapons—I barely had the strength to lift my arms, but something inside me, something primal, wouldn’t let me give up. Not yet. Not before seeing my family one last time. If they could get to me, that is. There was no guarantee they had been able to make it

Darwin’s POV Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but there wasn’t a crown on my head. However, I knew I had stepped into David’s shoes the moment he was hospitalized. It suddenly made sense why he had been so stoic and protective of everyone. For the first time in a long time, I could feel what he felt. The weight of the world resting on my shoulders. My world, and that of Dark Moon at large. Even as I ripped Jace’s head from his neck, the reality of what had just happened sank deeper as I looked at him—the cousin who once laughed with us as children, now reduced to this: A lifeless head in my hands. Who would have thought I would be the one to end his life? Who would have thought that he’ll be the one to turn our lives around? To hurt my brothers, to betray the only family he could call his? His eyes, once filled with arrogance and ambition, were now vacant, staring up at the sky even in his death. But now, he would be unable to see any fucking thing. His life had ended.

Darwin: The battle was far more brutal than expected. Dead bodies lay across the ground, a mix of our own people, rogues and rebel soldiers. Daniel and I were yet to turn as we were preserving our energy to fight our common enemy. A wolf lunged at me and I caught it by its collar and snapped its next in one move. It dropped to the ground, slowly shifting back to its human form as it took its last breath. Another one came and I sank my claws into it, twisting and tearing its guts out so it lay on the floor in a disgusting pile. I only one had one intention as I made my way towards the Palace. And that was to make sure Lillie and my family members were safe. After I'd confirmed that they were, I would return here and find Jace. The hall was empty. Void of anyone, so I knew they had all been carted away to safety to the Palace's secret basement. I heard a familar sob and hurried towards the corner leading to the underground building. Lillie was crouched beside Logan w

Lillie's POV: Tonight was a wedding and the whole Palace was bright with the hustle and bustle of activities. A decorating team had been employed to decorate the area and it had gone on for about two days. Tonight, they were finishing up the rest of the decorations as guests began to arrive. I heard the Queen's voice from where I stood in Darla's room. She was yelling at the decorating team for their slow pace and we all laughed when she asked one of the ladies to get out of her sight. "It's not mother's wedding and yet, she yells like it's hers." Emilia said from where she stood, our beautiful flower girl, getting dressed by some of the maids. Darla chuckled from where she sat in front of her vanity table. "Mother can be a control freak at times. Don't tell her I said this, or she's going to serve my body to the guests." Emilia grinned in mischief and I instantly knew she was going to use emotional blackmail now that she had power over Darla. "Wh

Lillie's POV: Things were going smoothly. More than I expected. I banished the thoughts of something ruining the good time everyone was having and decided to, for once in my life, be happy that things were going the way I wanted. Queen Sofia was forced to interceed on Logan's behalf and the embargo of being a slave was taken off him. Darla made it a point of duty to remind her every waking moment of the day until the Queen decided to have rites held on Logan's behalf. And now, they were seen always having little cute moments around the palace. Logan and Darla were always found in each other's arm and I always saw the look on the Queen's face. Even after taking the banishment off Logan's head, she still wasn't in approval of their relationship. But as time went on, she became busy with other things and paid them no heed until I found her one day, smiling at Darla and Logan as they sat at the porch. Darla had her head on Logan's lap as he read her a book. It was such a

Lillie's POV: I paced from one end of the room to the other, trying to come up with words to say to my brother. Logan stood, head bowed low, at the other end of the room. I could tell he was feeling extremely bad, but not guilty. He finally stood tall, steeling his expression as he stared right at me. "What are you going to do? Judge me for following my heart? Call that a mistake also?" I honestly had nothing to say to him if I was being honest. I was just surprised that Logan and Darla were ever a thing. I wasn't angry or judgemental. I just didn't like how it had been hidden from me. Did Logan not trust me? Or hadn't I been a good enough elder sister for him to talk to? These were the thoughts that plagued my mind. I turned to him and sighed. "When did you start Dating Darla?" "We're not... dating," He replied. "Though we really like each other a lot." "So when did all these start?" He scoffed. "Do I have to tell you all the details?" "Yes. I have to know."
